I have SW DeEd 2.5, ESB DeEd 2.0 and RotJ DeEd 2.0 Workprint.

I also have team_negative1's workprint 0 and workprint 1 (Grindhouse) of their 35mm scans. Currently downloading their workprint 2, despite they're about to release their third workprint in a few weeks.
>>
>>64491103
Those are the exact ones that are in the guide.
But I didn't know you could download TeamNegative1's print.

No way familia
>>
>>64491255
They are scanning theatrical prints used back in 1977, 1980 and 1983. They are therefore the full, Original Unaltered Trilogy, whereas Harmy's versions are reconstructions (and they are still spotting SE changes as to today. In fact, I think I have spotted a few changes that I have never seen anybody else talk about).

The disadvantage is that, overall, theatrical prints could never deliver the same quality as a professional scan of the negatives. But the official digital scans are so terrible, there are many parts a theatrical print delivers more quality.

They're grainier than Harmy's, because theatrical prints are nth generation copies, wheread Harmy's DeEd use the Blurays as a base.

If you look at the "Star Wars preservations" subforums of originaltrilogy.com, there are a few threads dedicated to team -1's scans. In the ESB thread they have recently posted a preview of one of the reels they will use for Workprint 3, and the link will expire in like 4 days. That preview is in 720p only, and it uses a low bitrate, but it still gives you an idea of how the whole movie will look.
>>
>>64491429
I'll help you step by step familia.
For the torrent client, use UTorrent, it's may be oversued but use it.

Whn downloadint the torrent from the site drag it to the prgram and the download will start.

Once it ends it will be ready to be played in VLC.
>>
>>64490979

DELETE THIS.
>>
>These already come with subtitles but are filled with usless audio tracks. Same quality and audio.

That makes no sense.

And frankly if you're archiving these, it's good to have the "useless" audio tracks. I actually prefer the Laserdisc mixes to the theatrical ones. I can barely make out the dialogue in a lot of the theatrical tracks, both stereo and six track.
>>
>>64491639
They have been ripped, Harmy even uses the audio from them for his despecialized edition.
>>
>>64491690
Believe it or not, the Laserdisc audio is of higher fidelity than the 2006 Bonus disc, because they had to compress the file in order to fit the Lego Star Wars demo. No, I did not make that up.
>>
>>64491659
Thing is they consume more space in your computer. And frankly, if you want to want to watch the original movie you would want to watch it in it's original language.
>>
>>64491613
>sign up for an OT.com account
>never post once
>message some user
>"Hey, can I get a MySpleen invite?"

It's definitely a good tracker though. I think it's private more due to its niche nature than the usual private tracker elitism.
>>
>>64491690
it's missiing the tractor beam line though
>>
>>64491746
You're kidding me. Time code?
>>
>>64491746
It is in there. And I was really fucking confused. Wasn't it a special edition change? if it's the Laserdisc why is it in there?

It also has the "Take over" line
>>
>>64491746
There were three audio mixes in '77, Stereo, 6 Track, and Mono. Mono came later, which is why Lucas added in a whole sleiu of audio changes. The Laserdisc mix isn't exactly the same as the original 5.1 mix, but another OT.com user has modified it for the DEd to make it so.
>>
>>64491766
C-3PO's tractor beam line is heard. This line was originally only present in the mono sound mix. It was added to the home video mix when it was digitally remastered in 1985. When a new sound mix was created for the THX release in 1993, this line was inexplicably left out. It did return once again for the Special Edition.

"The tractor beam is coupled to the main reactor in seven locations. A power loss at one of the terminals will allow the ship to leave."
>>
>>64491728
>in order to fit the Lego Star Wars demo.
BASED Lucas.
>>
>>64491600
I know you're memeing but Hayden being there makes zero sense in any context

>implies Anakin Skywalker died as a young man and didn't return to save his son
>Luke had no idea what his father looked like as a young man so he wouldn't know who that is

it's retarded and so are you for defending it
>>
>>64491791
>>64491746
>>64491766
>>64491788
The tractor beam line was only present in the mono mix, and once again added for the SE. The 5.1 track is default for the DEd, but the Mono mix is also on there.

I don't know why i didnt put that in the first post.

The Millennium Falcon is closer to the Star Destroyer it was attached to in the OUT, at least in the shot when the Falcon leaves the command bridge. The garbage that the Star Destroyer evacuates also has completely different compositions (those... blocks or whatever they areappear at different times and follow different paths.

There are multiple parts of the movie where the starfield is different between versions. I'n suspecting the starfield differs when they recompositioned the shots, and they they did not they left the original starfield.

One of the legs of the AT-AT that Luke destroys has a different composition in the shot where Luke is using his harpoon. In the OUT Luke is hidden by the leg several more frames in that shot.

The shot whee the movie switch from Luke in Dagobah to the Falcon near Cloud City has the Falcon in a completely different position on screen. We also see the same clouds in different positions in the SE.

Most of the rest of the shots of the Falcon and those recognition ships following the Falcon to Cloud City features different opacities and positions and paths in the OUT.

I suspect some of the shots of the Falcon having rescued Luke yet still haven't left Bespin has completely different compositions too.

Harmy's verson of the Greedo scene was featured in Conan's show. Youtube it if you don't believe me.

And Harmy himself has been sent raw small clips of the raw masters Lucasfilm and Lowry used later for their 2004 master (after color butchering the raw footage). Harmy himself posted a still photo of Sheev in the RotJ DeEd thread. That frame is funny because you can see they added artificial grain to alliviate the terrible job Lowry did. The added grain can even be seen in the black bars of the frame.

Everybody at Lucasfilm knows about Harmy's DeEd. They just don't care.

You can know it's a master copy because of its video and audio quality and complete lack of commercials.

People put too much blame on the crew that did the 2004 remasters. It wasn't their fault, it was Lucas's because he told them how he wanted them to be, and the people who worked on it had no say because he was George Lucas.

As if Star Wars and MST3K didn't eat up enough of my life.
>>
>>64492890
It was their fault, and Lucasfilm's as well.

They did a restoration of the trilogy around 1994-95. Then they did a 2K digital scan of the original negatives and all the special effects compositions, and created a new digital negative that was color corrected (as you cannot color correct a film negative), made some changes for the 1997 SE, and printed on a new film.

Then around 2004 they re-scanned the 1997 master, using now outdated technology and in 1080p, and used the new digital master for even more changes, and they made the DVDs and BDs from that master. Said master was butcheed in the color department, and DVNR'd so much they latter readded grain.

The BD are so terrible theatrical prints features more resolution and details in several parts. I remember watching a still image of the shot where Han and co. are speaking with Lando (before the camera switches to Chewbacca while Lando stsrts his "I have made a deal with the Empire...". Han was mouthles in the BD. He was not in an upscaled and cleaned GOUT and in team -1's scans.

I am downloading the Daria series. Haven't watched it, hope it's great.

I'm impressed with stuff like:
-1080p encode of a theatrical 35mm print of Matrix and Jurassic Park
-1080p encode of a Technicolor 16mm print if Song of the South
-1080p B&W encode of a faded print of theatrical THX-1138 (they are working on color restoration)
-Several fanedits of popular movies (prequel SW, Indy 4, etc)

I have heard AMPS has even more stuff such as scans of Technicolor prints of Disney movies. Or a 1080p encode of Technicolor 35mm of Song of the South. Unavailable on Myspleen though.
>>
>>64493175
>It was their fault
How the hell is it their fault? They're doing their fucking jobs. If they disobeyed what they were instructed to do, they'd have no jobs, and wouldn't work again in the entertainment industry because it's fucking George Lucas.

I'm not denying that the 2004 were terrible, but George Lucas was the one in controls. One of the guys who worked on it posts at Stevehoffman's forum, and he's stated that having worked on the 2004 release, he learnt that it would actually be easy for them to restore the original version because all the pieces are there. It's just up to whoever is in control to give them the go ahead to do it.

>>64493653

Harmy's ANH original:
Nominal bit rate : 13.5 Mbps
Maximum bit rate : 40.0 Mbps

Your shit trancode edition:
MPEG-4 AVC Video 6497 kbps 720p / 23,976 fps / 16:9 / High Profile 4.1

The bitrate is more then halved and it looks like ass.

For the same reason there are Technicolor prints of Star Wars 77' and aren't on the internet. They just don't want to release them.

Mike Verta's "Star Wars Legacy" is an exception, he would love to release it but he was told by friends at Lucasfilm the company would sue him. A shame, he did a fuckingtastic 4k restoration of SW that involve using at least 2-3 prints for each frame, and manually reconstructing every single frame. Even the original negative film grain and dirtiness. Look his videos on Vimeo or his thread at OT.com It's impressive, the guy cleaned all his print with laser and extracted absolutely all color information the prints had.

But don't worry! There are a few OT.com user (I think poita is the main guy behind) that are canning a Technicolor print of SW and will release them (probably on Myspleen through). Poita posted a few frames of that print on the forums it looked fucking beautiful.
>>
>>64494075
I said some of the files aren't necessarily transcodes, not specifically that one you fucking moron. You act like nobody but Harmy knows how to remux a fucking file.

Are there any major changes to the new versions of ESB and RotJ? I've already got the original despecialized editions but I want to know if it's worth getting the new releases

Also two things that bothered me immensely about Harmy's cuts:
-In Empire he decided to reuse cancerface instead of Palpatine. Why? It's fucking retarded, there is absolutely nothing to be gained from putting the old Emperor hologram instead of the one that is actually the Emperor himself
-The RotJ ending that has that stupid Yub Nub song, it's so fucking bad I actually considered taking out my special editions VHS and ripping the ending from there and using it instead of the one in Harmy's cut

Also, would anyone be interested in a stream?
>>
>>64494113
I also forgot to mention:
He spent 9-10 years doing the restoration
He was helped by many members of the crew who did the original special effects for the movie
He had a document of a few hundred pages only for the color of the shirts of the rebel soldiers at the beginning of the movie
He was very careful about how each single frame degrades (it seems frames with optical effects degrades in different ways)

He's pretty based.
>>
>>64494330

Better colours, better quality, more despecialized shots.

This is a theatrical restoration of the trilogy, nlt your own version. Make your own semi-specialized editins, you wouldn't be the first one.

You clearly didn't follow the discussion that followed after Harmy informed everyone he was adding rounded corners to all frames for ESB DeEd 2.0 in order to make the project closer to the theatrical experience. Some OT.com members made some maths and found out Harmy only dropped like less than 0.001% of all pixels of the movie, and yet there was heated discussions about revisionism and further tampering.

They don't make scans of the negatives. The negatives are at whatever location the studio preserves them.

They are only scanning multiple generation copies. A good bluray made from the original negatives would laugh at these scans. The Matrix one didn't look great, to be honest, however it didn't have the green tint added after the sequels were produced.

There are also some goodies through, like a high bitrate copy of the WOWOW version of Raiders of the Lost Ark, or a 1080p encode of a DCP version of Back to the Future. Both releases are in the 48-40 GB range.

At first it was a reconstruction of the theatrical versions made by using upscaled, filtered, cleaned GOUT footage with HDTV recordings of the 2004 SE.

Then Harmy switched to BD and started using some 35mm elements.

Now he's about to only use 35mm elements and drop standard definition elements like the GOUT, so 3.x releases of Despecialized will be in 1080p, unlike the 1.0 and 2.x series which have always been stuck in 720p.
>>
>>64497896

>>hurr durr I'm fine with george doing violence to cinematic history!

You completely misunderstand

As I was reading through the descriptions it was mostly under the impression that it was a restoration of the original movies removing all the retarded unnecessary shit Lucas added, while keeping some of the improvements like updated visual effects and the remastered ending for the SE of RotJ, not having to keep cancerface as the Emperor etc

But now it turns out it's just the original laserdisc cut of the movies in HD

Thank god for the semi specialized editions at least
>>
>>64498064

Er... basically yeah, that's what the Despecialized editions are. Except he's not just using betamax, he's using anything and everything he can get his hands on.
>>

Why do you hipsters think the "Despecialized" versions are better?

because they remove Georgie's autism.

I've already got Empire 2.0, A New Hope 2.5 and Jedi 1.0 but why should I grab the Jedi 2.0 Workprint? What's the difference?

No more floating eyebrows.
Original Jabba dance scene is much better quality.
Overall higher picture quality
Further color correction
Deeper contrast/ image not so washed out.

Worth it, to be honest but wait for the official v2.0. The workprint has a bunch of watermarks and shit.

I'm sure you could do a lot better. The point is that you are messing with someone's finished product. They never gave you the go ahead to make your shitty edits. You are on the same level as a petty thief.
