As for the lack of a/b/y wings I noticed that, as well. I know in wookiepedia they explain that a-wings pretty much become obsolete because X-wings become just as maneuverable and have better defense/offense or something. Still just like in real life, there should be more than one kind of airship in your fleet. Same thing with the First Order. I only remember seeing TIE fighters and no Interceptors.

Believe it or not, it took three people to portray Nien Nunb in Jedi. Richard Bonehill, who played him in wide shots (along with a bunch of other background characters in both Empire and Jedi), passed away early last year. Mike Quinn, who had done the puppet work for him inside the Falcon returned to the role for Awakens, performing him solo. The third and final component was a Kenyan named Kipsang Rotich, who provided the vocals (and who is probably the reason Lupita Nyong'o grew up watching Star Wars on TV on holidays in her childhood).

Actually, given the sheer amount of work put into portraying Nien Nunb, I can only imagine Kasdan & Marquand had a lot more in mind for the guy than made it into the movie. It's been said that at least one pilot character was wholly excised from the film, I think it's fair to say that the space battle was cut down a LOT from what they actually shot.

If the fleet was destroyed along with the planets, the Republicans are too stupid to live.
