Anakin actually had struggle. Anakin needed years of training before he could use the force and even after he became powerful he couldn't hold a candle to Obi Wan or Dooku, people are far more experienced than him.
Not everyone immediately loved Anakin. Yoda doubted him, Windu held him back. Most characters didn't spend every waking moment of their existence thinking about Anakin.

And let's not forget that despite all that people still think Prequel Anakin is shit, so just picture how much shittier people perceive Rey to be
