French Cinema is exceptionally poor at dealing with French history. You probably won't ever see a big tentpole Napoleon movie made by the French, the same way you probably won't see a French movie about La commune or even about the French revolution. God knows if there are amazing stories in there.

However if you're into movies about the holocaust, you will get all the funding you need in France thanks to the Jewish elite in place in the French cinema industry.
