I just saw the first episode of Enterprise, having never watched the show. I've seen all the other series multiple times.
What did I just see?
- A U.S. military captain barking at his subordinates. He threatened to beat up the vulcan chick 5 minutes in. Also, he calls her "Ta-pall" instead of "t-pOl"
- A racist as fuark vulcan who has better hips and arse than 7.
- A vulcan who is way more emotional than Tuvok or Spock or Vorik.
- Everyone having their orders changed from a short trip to a long-term trip, no one complains.
- A chickenshit Asian female who keeps saying "g-g-g-ghosts! run scooby!"
- Some generic ugly ugly aliens as the bad guys. Usually aliens this ugly are one-off bad guys, but it looks like theyre here to stay.
- Terrible CGI, no pretty spaceship models as in TNG or Voy.
Still, it was acceptable, and i'm hoping it will improve. Is this what i'm in for?
It'll be a steaming pile of shit until season 3 when it turns into some good trek right up until cancellation was imminent.
Its irritating how it starts to get good and find its feet like all Trek series do after a few seasons (TOS aside) only to be cut down so savagely.
I wouldn't marathon it. I watched it a couple of episodes at a time on SciFi channel and enjoyed most of it. I don't think I saw anything in order or even all of them, but I did sometimes remember to tune in to watch the 2 episodes they would show at a time.
This is the beginning of the Federations march into space and the inter species relations are very different than what you see on TNG or later shows. Most Aliens are still pretty hostile towards each other. It definitely has a more military research and diplomacy thing than a noble exploration feel. The T'Pol emotions thing get's explained and becomes part of a story arc, Sato improves immensely and more so than TOS or the JJ Star Trek shows the importance of having and how intelligent the comms officer of an interplanetary vessel has to be. It was really one of the neatest things to me about the series. I think it has this over arching thing about time travel at some point that was just terrible. And in an effort to be different they have the like 4 or 5 species of intelligent space traveling aliens that all evolved on the same planet but you never see them again throughout Star Trek. Those were the rough parts to me like the worst of the show. Everything else I remember being pretty good. OH... accept when
The Borg show up again. That was garbage too. I feel like everything that was really awful about the show was the writers or show runners trying to give it something that stands out as the "Uniquely Enterprise" thing, and not just sticking to a rocky start to the federation and human space exploration.
Don't know if it's necessary to start a new thread for this. >>64316376 If I'm hijacking or derailing your thread, sorry.
>Axanar, a fan-made film set in the same universe as the sci-fi series, has earned more than a million dollars through crowdfunding platforms this year and drawn support from previous Star Trek actors and current Star Trek fans alike. But while Axanar's creators argue that they can use CBS's sci-fi setting because their movie will be "totally non-commercial," Paramount Pictures and CBS, who own the rights to Star Trek, apparently disagree
her perfectly flat abs actually give her a leg up in my book over 5head of 9. the bitch is petite and the catsuit she wears is meant to accentuate the same body parts as 7 of 9's old catsuit, so they can be compared evenly.
+perfect abs, 0% body fat if thats possible
+i've read she was into trek beforehand, though that might have been one of those "facts" that appear after the show
+brunette, the choice of patricians
-little too longish/amazonian proportions
-total bitch to work with
look i even went and got you a screengrab
I'm with you op, just watched pilot last weekend and haven't done anything since.
T'pol and trip rubbing the gel on each other was interesting, so were [spoilers]dem nipples[/spoilers] but I don't know if I want to watch when I still have tng and tos to finish.
[spoilers]as well as some anime[/spoilers]
>It's a humble pillar of the business community makes a tidy profit episode
>autismo: the post
dont forget to take your assburgers pills, friend
except deal too closely with the muh holocaust aliens and get backstabbed as expected.
BY THE FUCKING NAGUS WHY DO YOU PEOPLE INSIST ON DOING THIS
>Humanity trying to gtfo out of Vulcan's fearful Christian parent grip
>Vulcans prior to spiritual renaissance
>A captain with a chip on his shoulder because "muh dad was held back"
>The ultimate trekfu who REALLY didn't want to into space
>A Christian rock theme song
>A galaxy before the model civilization Federation spread its influence
>Romulans doing Romulan things with the Vulcan High Council
>You haven't even met based Shran yet
>Trip is cool for a retard throwback sperg hick
>Second or third best doctor in show history
>Lol fucking Archer, you think Janeway was pissy man watch what he does
because majority of the first two seasons, except for pilot, the season 2 shran episode, some of the trip ones.are mostly boring filler and doesn't start picking up speed till season 3
My good friend, so if we have to put onus on something, I want him to see best, not worst.
>YFW he tells you about his sexual organs
He fucked up a lot of shit, desu. If he hadn't lost it after Ziyal died then he could have made a Damar style comeback against the Dominion, play Charles De Gaulle role but nope, went nuts and tulpas and cucked that guy and everything.
and now the more I think about it, when they move away from TnA in season 3, it makes t'pol's relations better which coming from a guy is a weird thing to say but it helped build a more trek feel in season 4 and began striding when the show could barely crawl in season 1
YOU STILL WATCH THEM FOR CONTEXT LATER REEEEEEEEE THERE'S NO REASON TO PUT THE ONUS ON ANYTHING JUST WATCH THE FUCKING SHOW LIKE EVERYBODY ELSE SO WE WON'T HAVE TO EXPLAIN EVERYTHING YOU MISSED WHEN YOU INEVITABLY ASK REEEEEEEEEE
>Terrible CGI, no pretty spaceship models as in TNG or Voy.
Voager is home to the franchise's worst CGI. It was literally the testbed for CGI spaceship effects
T'Pol isn't *that* busty, in fact I'd say her boobs are just about average.
Has there ever been a legitimately large-breasted woman on Star Trek? Seven of Nine's come to mind but they were artificial (as in, made by the film crew to make the suit work.)
>dat disappointment when his holocuck cult doesn't kill themselves
I'm now imagining a voluptuous Vulcan with extremely aroused nipples trying to keep her passions under control until she can find a good partner to fuck her ragged for the next six hours.
>You girls exist outside of the internet, right?
You'd be shocked at the number of large busts that exist on the average Midwestern University campus, anon.
You'd also be shocked at the number of large busts in most Western cities. Solid Cs are average now, and Ds are starting to become the norm.
The War beneath Raptor's wings would have been amazing.
And I was curious to see Rommie/Vulcan pairing that created t'pol, which was supposed to be why she was more emotional than other vulcans.
Are Andorians the best thing to come out of Star Trek?
A race of blue-skinned, relatively good-natured Imperialists is always fun in your Space Opera, especially when the women are hard, muscular, and quite attractive.
>who has better hips and arse than 7.
There ENT vulcan was smoking hot but Nobody can out do Seven when it comes to hips and arse
OP here. Just finished episode 2, and Hoshi just dropped off a space slug in a planet that could support it environmentally, but not its planet of origin. The fuck kind of cowboy science is this shit?
Call me miserable but I like that the first thing humanity's first deep space star ship, a symbol of hope and progress, discovers is a ship full of corpses getting their bodies drained of fluids.
hulu. which is shit, i know.
All I wanted was Idriss Elba being a Klingon and it would be a rip of the 3rd movie, same as Into Darkness. It looks like an Avatar ripoff though.
>Hoshi just dropped off a space slug in a planet that could support it environmentally, but not its planet of origin. The fuck kind of cowboy science is this shit?
Her kinda looks like a rabid chihuahua sometimes.
>Look mom I posted it again.
Why do you keep uploading the a blurry version of that image ?
You did it in yesterdays thread aswell...
AFTER some other anon posted the HD version
I'm not even that big of a fan of those middle aged aging woman but I am a fan of picture quality or at least non-shit image quality.
Have you seen how oversized and dark chihuahua assholes are compared to the rest of their tiny bodies? i bet hers is like that too.
maybe not worst, but definitely most grotesque looking
I usually see a lot of banter about what the most 'reddit' Trek series is.
Turning that question on its head- what is the LEAST reddit Trek series?
I'm leaning towards TOS for a number of reasons, but I'd like to see other candidates.
>you will never be locked in a room with T'Pol during pon farr
It's not fair.
Wouldn't matter as long as I got to tap that gorgeous ass before I died.
There are qualifications but it is a bit hard to explain.
People often say TNG is reddit because of Picard's milquetoast intellectualism. Then people often say DS9 is reddit because of big action plotlines and fights full of explosions.
I chose TOS as the least because the era of its production makes it alien to the alternative-but-still-fundamentally-millenial ethos of "reddit" content. There's a lot of antiquated gender stuff, the effects are not flashy, and it balanced 'intellectual' and 'pew pew' without going too far either way.
- I don't even remember that.
- At this point in history, all vulcans are racist as fuck.
- At this point in history, vulcans are simply fronting Romulans. Resolved in series
- Captain Janeway would like to have a word with you
- Typical Nerd-quirk
Best Star Trek series, most hated. Get through the hate, enjoy the sweet center.
Explains Humanoid Klingons -> Forehead Lobster Klingons finally.
>There's a lot of antiquated gender stuff, the effects are not flashy, and it balanced 'intellectual' and 'pew pew' without going too far either way.
Then probably Enterprise. Maybe even more so than TOS considering when it was made and they still did things like this And the Orian slave girls. Plus Alien species were openly prejudice against each other and called each other derogatory names.
I'm not mad I just wasn't aware it was a meme. By all means meme on anon.
>Plus Alien species were openly prejudice against each other and called each other derogatory names.
>T'/pol/ will never punish you for being a pathetic human
>Dem glorious pointy e-e-ears tho.
>Just die in my sleep already
>universal translator can render the entire Ferengi language into crystal-clear English
>for some reason the single word 'human' is left 'Huuu-maaahn'
He actually does get some good moment. Season 4 is the major Wesley dropoff. The shows does seem to make fun of him directly, particularly how his final write-off in season 6 or 7 is just a big wave off.
Hell, I think when some of the TNG crew were turned back to children, someone suggests Picard go back to the academy. He scoffs and says "And what? Room with Wesley?"
They even made Wesley a senior officer in a time travel cascade, the one aware of the cascade finding this ridiculous. Honestly season 1-2 have more issues than Wesley early on, but they should still be watched.
I don't know much about reddit but I believe they dislike Voyager the most. At least that's Sheldon cooper who represents reddit by wearing a reddit shirt on The Big Bang Theory said in an episode once.
really, the only problem i have with season 1 is how the whole bridge crew seems to hate each other despite being senior star fleet officers. picard was a whiny bitch, and riker just "goes with the flow", looking at everyone like theyre all crazy
Oh, man, have to go watch some TNG Recuts now.
supposedly picard was stuffy and annoyed at everyone else's unprofessionalism early on until they won him over and he became a behind the scenes partier like the rest of them, even doing grecoroman wrestling with worf.
i read she hasnt frequented cons much. i wonder if its because she knew shed get the smelly neckbeards wanting to ask her about how she was a sex object?
also, did her suit have a corset like 7 of 9's did early on? i seriously doubt she would have needed one but still. pic related.
Growing pains. Most Trek starts bad and has to go through some real bad episodes and build chemistry. I usually only ever skip Deanna's Mother episodes.
>MFW it's a Deanna's mom episode
am i degenerate if i actually think lwaxana was a great character? she was always in charge, but rarely enforced it. she just liked to brag, have a good time, get laid, and be the head bitch in charge.
ill admit her self-pity/emotional episodes were meh, but i liked her and picard
How do they explain klingon words (like petaq) being spoken on the show, but not translated? Also, why do klingons never say any of these words in TOS?
Is it only me that was pissed off that they had another human for Executive Officer? Riker's basically Picard 2.0, would have liked TNG more if they have a nigger XO at least or make Data XO (how the fuck cant Data be a captain out of the Academy? He's probably like the only Starfleet who had A++++ in every grade)
>how the fuck cant Data be a captain out of the Academy
he couldn't even do contractions
also i'm reading right now it turns out the guy from the rocketeer was considered for riker's role and wesley snipes was considered for the role of la forge
Lwaxana is a very well written, consistent character who owns her role. Her and Picard work very well. It is a role well done enough I actually just hate the character, and can't be bothered to continue with her. Critic wise: she's great. Personally: hate it.
Riker seems like Kirk 2.0. A dashing officer in space, doing green chicks and talking about his genitals. Data was given command of a ship to net some Romulan's supporting those Klingon sisters in the Klingon Civil War; Data had a very rocky time and was formally reprimanded.
Though I think they caught on to their lack of diversity when TNG did well, thus a female and black captain for the next two shows. Though I love the TNG supporting cast as much as the lead.
>isnt laforge supposed to be a permavirgin?
Does the holodeck count as losing one's virginity?
>how the fuck cant Data be a captain out of the Academy?
Command takes more than pure logic. Nobody would captain right out of starfleet anyways. Also, organic beings would probably have problems taking orders from an android. He lacks basic understanding of emotions.
here you go. about 1minute 20seconds into the show. i guess they were trying to show him as tough, same way they had sisko chimp out on picard right away.
>Also, organic beings would probably have problems taking orders from an android. He lacks basic understanding of emotions.
This is explicitly shown in one episode where he is put in charge of a federation ship. IIRC they were trying to detect a fleet of cloaked Romulans trying to slip by, but I might have the episode confused.
No, because nobody or at least a majority of races don't take them seriously. Even on the Enterprise, nobody respects him as much as they would a regular being.
>pissed off that they had another human for Executive Officer
>would have liked TNG more if they have a nigger XO at least
>Data was given command of a ship to net some Romulans supporting those Klingon sisters in the Klingon Civil War; Data had a very rocky time and was formally reprimanded.
Separately Data becomes CO with Riker and Picard gone. Worf makes a snide comment and Data calls him to the ready room to establish that Worf was out of line and auctioned giving up their friendship over it.
>hit like three buttons and cause the phaser to malfunction and painfully disintegrate the user.
he makes the crowd sing that at con panels. gets kinda cringey, though i did love the show when i was 7.
>They're going to wreck that planet's ecosystem is what's implied. In 100 years it will be all slugs.
And it will be fucking glorious. I for one, welcome our new slug overlords.
Alec Peters is a con artist and a sham. I'm glad he's getting shut down.
Go to bed Seven Of Nine.
>dat feel when no Doctor pillow to keep you safe and cozy at night.
Reddit hates Enterprise.
Voyager is Tumblr's favorite.
The third-party intermediary website of Strawpoll.
Well okay I also posted this picture along with it
I always liked the episode of enterprise where it was a flashback to the testing of the NX program. I wish enterprise was more like that; a bunch of test pilots and engineers learning how to make warp capable ships, like in The Right Stuff.
Is this the most shenanigan-y episode summary in all Trek? This sounds like something out of that 'TNG season 8' parody book
That was never a thing until the JJ movies.
Almost all races in Star Trek have roughly the same strength. The Hirogen from Voyager are the only race I can think of that seemed to be physically stronger naturally.
>Does this guy know that?
You know Sam's brain is all "swiss cheese" after every leap
It suffered from the same problems as Andromeda. Instead of a "build the federation" plotline (or "rebuild the Systems Commonwealth" in Andromeda) they fucked around doing a million random things and then SUDDENLY in season 4 they've retroactively built the federation. We could have had some quality Trek diplomacy from them recruiting planets and races instead of The Expanse, Space Nazis and time travel fuckery.
We must abort this meme before it becomes a threat to the ship and its crew.
are you guys just being ironic or what? season 1 had a couple good episodes like the ones with the Bynars(sp?) and a couple others but mostly it was shit.
season 2 is better for sure, but not up to what people say it is.
or are you just bandwagoner redditors who "like" all of TNG because the hivemind said so?
it's okay to admit fault with things you like
If TNG Season 2 is actually good then what does that make it? I don't know! Do you? Do you???
i can believe it. we're used to seeing hot women liek her on tv but in real life- up close- her small size and chiseled features probably make her all the more attractive.
the doctor was crosseyed early in the series. then i think he wasnt. what gives?
DS9 isn't canon.
Nausicaans are also goons, hired goons cause theyre big and tough.
>Ferengi say "hewmon" because they refuse to create a new word in the Ferengi language for humans
>this is because humans are the first species encountered by the Ferengi who don't believe in the acquisition of wealth and material goods
arghleblargle this is only episode 4 this bitch is poisoning the well for me
Liberals don't hate money, they hate profiteering on basic necessities of life such as food, water, housing, healthcare, education & the ecology. Things can still be sold but those should never be withheld from anyone due to some arbitrary notion that people in need of them don't deserve it because they didn't earn it by pulling themselves up by their bootstraps hard enough.
happy new years.
i think i'm going to fill my st folder with t'pol screenshots. sad.
>it's a "we ran out of budget so here's some old clips haphazardly thrown together" episode
The episode was intended to save money at the end of the season by being a bottle episode which featured few additional characters... The reason was that the show had overspent on the episodes "Elementary, Dear Data" and "Q Who"
so it was totally worth it.
>Watching The Closer Se07E07(August 2011)
>Seeing the actress that looks very familiar in the first 1 minute and wondering if it is Roxann Dawson.
>tfw her name appear as "special guest star"
>She actually directed a lot of episodes of this show and it's spin-off "Major Crimes".
You will never have Chief Engineer Torres directing your episode!!
burton, frakes (obviously) and i think several other trek actors all dabbled in directing episodes.
Enterprise is pretty good in its 4th season, mainly because of the two-parters.
But aside that, its shit.
>shit crew except the Hoshi and Tpol
>shit ship design
>worst captain in Star Trek history
>shit shit shit
