So I've seen all the essential Miyazaki movies and just finished with Satoshi Kon stuff,
what else is there?
Have you watched Takahaka's stuff? He also worked for Studio Ghibli, Tale of Princess Kaguya and Pom Poko were his for example.
Another movie I'd recommend is pic related.
And people saying the attempted-rape scene was unnecessary failed to understand the movie
Redline is fantastic as well. Hand-drawn over 7 years with fantastic style, what more can you want?
>Redline is fantastic as well
No it is not. Not to argue since I agree with your post for the most part but slick =/= good. Redline's first and last ten minutes are very fun, the majority of the film is so fucking boring though.
I don't give two shits. I've shat out more interesting plots.
just watch bebop and champloo and you're essentially done with all the good anime out there. There's NGE I guess but that was weird as shit and a few movies here and there are pretty good but yea anime doesn't have a lot to offer.
>the majority of the film is so fucking boring though.
I feel that most people go into the movie with the wrong expectations. They think it'll be action an action-packed ride all the way through, mostly thanks to advertisement and people viraling it as that. It does sag a bit in the middle (showing him crash the test car served no purpose except to be filler for example). But there's also a lot of stuff going on that goes over most people's head. It took me three watches to figure out that Machine Head is Sonoshee's dad and that the old crimelord is the same racer that JP looks up to.
Naruto is the DBZ of this generation
Shingeki no Kyojin is the Akira of this generation
One Piece is the Legend of the Galactic Heroes of this generation.
Madoka is the Evangelion of this generation
Amagi Brilliant Park is the Little Princess Sarah of this generation and
Kill La Kill is the Cowboy Bebop of this generation.
Stop wearing those nostalgia glasses anon, they're on equal tiers
Mamoru Oshii has a damn good filmography.
Wait a minute... that scene...
>tfw The Wind Rises is on Film 4 in ten minutes
I hope it's decent.
>What else is there?
A lot. Watch Mamoru Oshii, Osamu Dezaki, Yoshikazu Yasuhiko, Yasuomi Umetsu, and Rintaro's directorial works and with that you'll already be one step above the fuccbois on /a/.
You've basically said "just watch The Dark Knight Rises and Se7ven and you're essentially done with all the good anime out there." Stop having such a pleb opinion.
Also, go watch Mamoru Oshii. He does both anime and live action. He's a good director for plebs because he introduces you to the popular stuff like Ghost In The Shell. He also made Patlabor and when you see that you can laugh at all the faggots who compare Pacific Rim to Evangelion.
Its pathetic that after all this time, East has very few works that are comparable to the great works of the West.
