I feel that most people go into the movie with the wrong expectations. They think it'll be action an action-packed ride all the way through, mostly thanks to advertisement and people viraling it as that. It does sag a bit in the middle (showing him crash the test car served no purpose except to be filler for example). But there's also a lot of stuff going on that goes over most people's head. It took me three watches to figure out that Machine Head is Sonoshee's dad and that the old crimelord is the same racer that JP looks up to.
