The same totally mature ones from the anime experts on /v/ that have been laughed out of /a/
none of them
anime is for dumb dumbs that still play videogames and eat pringles chips
Why do all /lit/ lists include Atlas yet is has become a may may every time one of those lists gets posted? i haven't read it that's why i'm asking, is it like tv and citizen kane?
Not watching anime at all seems like the best choice.
trips confirm. and all those fucking attack on titan generals. Best is live translations and daily japanese threads, but they'll try to get rid of that shit because it's not specifically about anime like they did with other news related shit
Maybe you just don't understand what people see in moe anime.
There, read this. It's originally from 2005 and presents an awfully limited view on moe, but it's a start.
Also this >>51769141, it keeps faggots like >>51769153 away.
Its garbage that gets listed alongside actually great works of literature because a lot of powerful conservatives agree with its philosophy.
>Any community that gets its laughs by pretending to be idiots will eventually be flooded by actual idiots who mistakenly believe that they're in good company
Just recently watched Akira, AD police and kiki's delivery service
i'm not a man that can stand weaboo's baffonery but they were all pretty great. Akira's definitely top 10 sci fi potential
that literature is absolute horseshit
the great gatsby, atlas shrugged, and the brother karamazov are heardly literature
ulysses is just muh stream of consciousness but ok overall
the stranger is good but still babbies first lit
No i'm not i've been posting on /a/ since '08, and it's become a literal shithole full of manchildren newfags that lust over moe blob crap.
Half the generals are about this season's moe crap, shit.
I think it has a lot more in common with a normal TV show than actual anime. Skips most of the cliches and moe shit, the setting is great, lot of amazing ideas about the problems humanity will face when expanding into space, and a lot of it is scientifically accurate.
What is it with /a/sshats that they think posting long blog posts about their shit anime validates their affinity for watching shows literally created for small children?
I'd respect it more if they just admitted they liked cute shit rather than substance.
I agree with you, but it doesn't mean you have to watch it just cause they shove it down your pirating throat.
Still there's a few decent shows every season .
Yeah now you can't make threads about something that isn't universally known by half of /a/ sadly.
the thing is these "adult" anime that gain popularity in the west are considered childish trash in japan.
you, the american, only find them good because of the very slight "mature" theme.
berserk/eva/miyazaki hayao are to japan what the frozen/croods/family guy is to america and viced-versa.
You're right. I forgot "/tv/ approved" means obscure and patrician. Thanks.
Should I read The Fountainhead or Atlas first?
If you're into moeshit, nichijou is the best. Patema inverted has some nice visuals and a serviceable storyline.
>What are some /tv/ approved anime?
Dragonball, Dragonball z (also Kai and GT,) YuYu Hakusho, Rurouni Kenshin, Naruto Shippuden, One Piece, Basilisk, Gurren Lagann, Baki the Grappler, Bleach
Ayn Rand and her particular brand of deontological libertarianism are interesting to think about as a philosophy but not particularly meaningful or useful when it comes to actual statecraft. Atlas Shrugged, if anything, is an example of exactly why those who would classify themselves as "makers" vs. all the other "takers" should NOT be deified or revered. Ayn Rand was also one troubled bird. You should definitely read her work if you're interested, but read with a critical eye/mind (as you should always, I guess).
Read everything Ayn Rand has written and then internalize it. If you're lucky you'll end up an unemployed moron with a false sense of superiority like the rest of the hardcore Randians.
Don't you ever fucking dare use the word patrician again you tasteless pleb
The Fountainhead is like the idealistic representation of her objectivist philosophy in an ideal environment for it to thrive, and Atlas Shrugged is that philosophy applied to an imperfect, pseudo-dystopian, sci-fi world in order to represent its societal effects rather than its self-actualizing effects.
I'm more fond of Atlas Shrugged myself, but they're both good reads so make up your mind based on what I told you.
>as you should always, I guess
I'm glad you realized that you were stating the obvious towards the end there. Some people seem to not realize that supporting and appreciating a work of literature doesn't necessarily mean supporting and adhering to its philosophies, but merely a grander appreciation for the work and its contributions to philosophy, society, and the artform. It's like how I can say The Bible is a great book, but I'm not necessarily a Christian or an adherent of that philosophy.
>/v/ is still upset they couldn't cry hard enough to get /a/ changed when /q/ was still around
maybe next time ladies
>he's posting pics of the anime and not the manga
>he thinks anybody cares about /a/ besides the long time pedophiles
I'm sorry but there are far better places for anime discussion. Nobody gives a shit about your babby board.
My-fucking-negro. This is a show that will never leave my top 10, absolutely fantastic.
>hachimaki hachimaki hachimaki .... hachimaki
Genuinely makes me tear up every single time
idk because its high tier television?
Nana of course.
The best anime recommendation chart I can remember seeing on 4chan by quite some way. Made with a significantly deeper appreciation than the average /a/ poster or more generally almost any western fan has.
>Thanks for the lack of punctuation and run-on sentences
This is an anonymous internet forum...
Also anyone who thinks that having a 60 page repeatative rant as the climax of a novel does not know good writing. Just admit you only like it becuase you agree with Rand's "philosphy."
fuck bro i wanna see a child try to comprehend what the fuck goes on in eva lmao
>mfw i'm right
>mfw these guys probably aren't even authentic /tv/ users
Just the obnoxiously smug anarcho-capitalists?
>tfw you will never get blown the fuck out by supahotfire
Back to 8th grade with you, tripfag.
> Is that where you got your education?
A part of it. It's normal in first world countries to graduate from grade school. But it's becoming clear to me that you never got that far in your formal schooling.
Back to 8th grade with you, tripfag.
>It's also normal to learn that you can't start sentences with a conjunction.
Is that what they taught you in 5th grade? In a few years, when you get to 8th grade, your teachers will clear that up for you.
Virtually all major style guides state that starting a sentence with a conjunction is fine. Here's an excerpt from the Chicago Manual of Style:
"There is a widespread belief—one with no historical or grammatical foundation—that it is an error to begin a sentence with a conjunction such as and, but or so. In fact, a substantial percentage (often as many as 10 percent) of the sentences in first-rate writing begin with conjunctions. It has been so for centuries, and even the most conservative grammarians have followed this practice."
Stay in school, tripfag.
>mfw supahotfire is getting blown the fuck out all over this thread
If you truly read the Bible, then whats it about, why's it a good book, stop regurgitating everything you hear a smart person say.
>implying you actually care about "philosophy"
lol get rekt kid drop out of school so you'l be less annoying
Been watching anime for over a year now, did a lot of research and stayed far away from moe shit. Heres what I really liked:
Welcome to the NHK
Serial Experiments Lain
Rurouni Kenshin - Tsuioku-Hen/Saurmai X - Trust & Betrayal
Now and Then, Here and There
Legend of the Galactic Heroes
Great Teacher Onizuka
Cromartie High School
Ghost In the Shell (also SAC)
Time of Eve
For mindless action, not much in terms of content, check:
Sword of the Stanger
Vampire Hunter D & Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust
Also OP, watch "Neon Genesis Evangelion" last. It shouldn't be in your first ten or so watched. After finishing the series, immediately go watch "End of Evangelion"
>so blown the fuck out he literally cannot form a meaningful response
>is getting destroyed
>doesn't know when to stop
>Also OP, watch "Neon Genesis Evangelion" last. It shouldn't be in your first ten or so watched.
That was the first anime I ever watched, and I didn't have any issues with it. Why do you say to wait?
>stayed far away from moe shit.
You might find you like it, if you gave it a chance. Then again you might not, but you won't know until you try.
It's only the guy's first year.
>if people know about the anime you like then it's entry level
>some of these rec's have a only been downloaded 10k times on bakabt
>LE ENTRY LEVEL
Same here, and I'm still looking for something as impacting as NGE/EoE in the medium but receiving no luck. It sets a bar so high and there are better icebreakers for the medium.
Show some SoL rec's
>looking for something as impacting as NGE/EoE
It's hard but try anything by Satoshi Kon, specially Perfect Blue.
>LE ENTRY LEVEL
Well I also watched them my first year or so because many of them are recommended on "Best of" lists. They aren't as entry level as toonami or adult swim anime but they still are.
rocker nana had sex with one person and that was ren. you must be talking about the other nana with brown hair to which i agree she is a cum guzzler. That wasn't what annoyed me. what annoyed me was that she was 20 and acted 13. waahhh my bf is cheating on me wahhhh my friend left me because i thought she abandoned me. she needed to grow up.
>waahhh my bf is cheating on me wahhhh my friend left me because i thought she abandoned me. she needed to grow up.
Just reading makes me mad.
>none of you fuckers watched it
Seriously it's a masterpiece. Gibli's best since Spirited Away.
Fooly Cooly is art and objectively the best anime of all time.
