Honestly, it seems like they got halfway through the movie and went "well lets just scrap the whole xenophobic yellow people plot" and cobbled together Ego's villain backstory.
Why couldn't they just stick with the yellow people? They even teased that the next movie is about them. How about instead of showing another scene where their drones get blown up, they use the villain they're making in the next movie instead?
Ego was pretty weak as a villain overall, and is one of the biggest complaints I have with the movie.

We need a proper thread discussing this guy's abilities and motives.
From what I can tell he knew dany and the dragons were coming. He sat on that horse and didn't attack Jon and crew for at least a day we're made to believe right? With it being light dark then light again at the frozen lake.
His regular weapon of choice was absent and instead he and the walkers were equipped with javelins BEFORE THE DRAGONS GOT THERE.
Now think of the lord of light. Visions in the fire allowing glimpses of the future. Melisandre tries to set the stage and allow that vision to come to fruition. Evidence there is telling stannis to go north when she saw the battle of the bastards in the flames, NOT stannis vs boltons.
So it seems obvious to me the NK is also having glimpses of the future. He saw the ice lake and the dragons. You also have to ask yourself why eastwatch specifically? Because whatever he saw showed him eastwatch and a dragon taking the wall down.
The only way to salvage the NK backstory is brans role in s8. There has to be a backstory explained because so far he's just the typical big bad.
Or put it all down to shit writing.

no. they specifically got Barry Lyndon from Warner Bros. because it's not a big commercial success for WB and Criterion is a boutique thing. they would never get the chance to release The Shining or A Clockwork Orange, for instance.
Leon Vitali supervised the transfer and i'm sort of wary of it, he's fucked things up before. it's in 1.66:1 aspect ratio as in the European release and they did a 5.1 mix even though it was mixed for mono (as were most of Kubrick's movies, even when mono fell out of style)
Lol I really didn't think GoT was that bad until I saw them killing this character this way
