Fuck. Off.
>Black L was actually the best part of the film
2017 is a fucking trip, mane.
Agreed. The rest was too fast paced, too many things crammed into a movie, the kissing/sex scenes were awful, so much potential but just ended up bad
the guy who played Light wasn't too bad either. Light never should have been an intellectually gifted chad; that makes it too easy too root against him. it's easier to root for him if he's a beta
Margaret Qualley was actually the best part
>gangnam style
why is south park so dated now?
and why is a little white girl twerking a korean kid?
To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand Rick and Morty. The humour is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of theoretical physics most of the jokes will go over a typical viewer's head. There's also Rick's nihilistic outlook, which is deftly woven into his characterisation- his personal philosophy draws heavily from Narodnaya Volya literature, for instance. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these jokes, to realise that they're not just funny- they say something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike Rick & Morty truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn't appreciate, for instance, the humour in Rick's existential catchphrase "Wubba Lubba Dub Dub," which itself is a cryptic reference to Turgenev's Russian epic Fathers and Sons. I'm smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as Dan Harmon's genius wit unfolds itself on their television screens. What fools.. how I pity them.
One of the aspects that makes it great:
It will run with a concept in a way that few shows since the Simpsons in its heyday ever have. In The Ricks Must Be Crazy, the episode runs with two different concepts: an artificially created universe that exists solely for the benefit of the creator of that universe, with the consequences of the inhabitants of that universe in learning the true nature of reality, and then the concept of a seemingly all-powerful artificial intelligence given the task to keep a single person safe, and how it accomplishes that within the changing parameters given to it.
In Close Rick-counters of the Rick Kind, there is a fantastic running gag where Rick and Morty, trying to escape the Council of Ricks, pass through a Pizza Universe, where pizzas sitting in chairs make a phone call to order humans, a Phone Universe where phones sitting on pizza make a call on a human to order chairs, and then a Furniture Universe where chairs sitting on humans make a call on a piece of pizza to order phones.
For me it's because the sci-fi is so strongly written. The alternate realities/worlds are imaginative and consistently interesting. There's a great little moment when Morty plays an intergalactic VR game and experiences a mundane life followed by an emotional battle with cancer, family issues and eventually slips off a ladder and dies...it's so brilliantly tragic when Morty wakes up and cries "Where's my wife?!?" before shaking himself back to reality.
It's those brilliantly insightful bits of sci-fi mixed with a clever but organised randomness that sets it apart from other animated adult comedies. It's so full of different ideas that are both interesting and rich with emotion that, for me, it's just perfect.
the characters: Rick is a loose cannon reprobate genius scientist, whos is completely reckless selfless a and amoral. The father is a complete simp, morty is the unwilling simple sidekick. R rated cartoons are generally quite good just because the amount of profanity they can use. They have different things going on each episode, and still have long series arcs. The stories are very well written and thought out, and multilayered. Technically the show is very accurate with the science. The show has a lot of easter eggs too ( clues for fans). Overall its the best cartoon i've seen on tv.
