ITT comedy "classics" that are actually unfunny garbage, I'll start
>>87496998
for a more recent example
FUCKING AIRPLANE!. Not only is it a bad film by itself, it also inspired possible the worst genre in the history of film. That movie gave Seth McFarlane a career.
Comedy is very hit and miss - you either get it, or don't. It's not really about the movies - their popularity, age, or anything - just that if they click with YOU or not.
Has /tv/ talked about the HOTTEST new show on (((netflix) yet?but no seriously it's great
The show is GLOW by the way forgot to say it and it has Alison Brie in wrestling attire.
started watching for brie's tiddies like 1 month ago
good show overall

How heavy handed is the Girl Power shit? Is there more to the show than that? It sounds pretty interesting.
At the end of the day, will you admit that he managed to improve on Tolkien's formula? GoT was a more easily adaptable series than LotR ever was. I say this as an unabashed LotR fanboy.
GoT only good to people who never read a fantasy novel in their life. GoT is a generic cliche piles of shit.
>>87496551
Real answer: I don't think they're comparable. I also don't really know what you mean by Tolkien's "formula".
"Ah, ha ha, *munch, munch* ol' J.R.R., didn't, ah, see you come in! -burp- No please, please, [smack] sit down, sit down, there' something we, (pant) need to talk about. *farts* Heavens excuse me, oh ho! Well getting down to 'brass tacks' - or brass tax, I might say SNORT! - yes, well I was sitting, counting the money coming in from, slurp, my show - terribly taxing ah yes? - when the thought occurred me, watching that money from my award-winning show... [belch] from my, (siiippp) award, award, awar... sorry, I lost my breath, award-winning books, that I [chews] that I can't seem to recall you mentioning [more chewing] anything about Gondor's *blows nose* taxation policy. Surely I must have -releases one long wet smelly fart - missed it while glancing through the pages (cough). You did [scratches ballsack] say something about it, right? Sales tax? (sweats) Value-added tax? *licks lips* Don't just sta - oh my my heart - stand there my man, out with it! Surely the, the thought has crossed your mind?! -chuckles until accidental urination-"
The Force Awakens made a shit-ton of money and still sucked.
Is this film actually good?
>>87496260
I think so, yes. It has a 2-hour run time but doesn't waste a single minute with anything superfluous. Every scene is shot either to develop a character or progress the story. Considering that there's 7 kids, a giant monster, people needing gobbled up, some shithead adults, and perfunctory storybeats needed to progress everything, I say the team responsible for the movie did a damn good job compressing everything into an enjoyable, coherent romp.
If you want a horror movie, look elsewhere; this is an adventure story with an otherworldly monster. But it's good.

i watched this with my white Christian wife
>you will never work at hollywood movie studio or television crew for famous tv show
This is my dream job
Anyone on /tv/ had this kind of job?
You want to be on the crew? So you get paid shit to cater to the whims of spoiled stars who receive better treatment than you ever will purely because of their looks? You want to try to make Tom Cruise look 30 years younger while he tries to tell you about scientology?
You want to try to make Amy Schumer look presentable while she makes fart jokes? That's your dream?

Alright lads,
I'm about to tackle Stargate. I know very little about it, so I'm starting from the movie and moving onto SG-1 and I guess there's a few other shows I'll worry about when I get there. What am I in for?
Just a little background, /tv/ suggested I watch Babylon 5 so I did. Bretty gud. Then I went from Star Trek: Next Generation to Deep Space Nine. Also bretty gud. Is this movie/show going to be bretty gud? You guys haven't let me down yet.

first few seasons are cheesy in that 90s scifi way, but if you were able to get through the first seasons of TNG, DS9 and B5 you should be able to handle it. yeah its a pretty great adventure show with (in my opinion) the most loveable cast in scifi shows
GOOLD?
>>87495973
Good deal. Yeah everyone said the first season of Babylon 5 was going to be rough, but it wasn't as awful as everyone made it out to be. Still -kinda- rough though lol.
>>87496004
This guy is in it? lol, he plays a military officer in charge of secret shit in every show I guess. He was in X-Files and Twin Peaks.

>Spike Lee is teaming with Get Out filmmaker Jordan Peele for Black Klansman, the true story of an African-American police officer who infiltrated the KKK.
>John David Washington, Denzel Washington's son and one of the stars of HBO’s Ballers, is in negotiations to star in the dramatic crime thriller that is gearing up to shoot this fall with Focus Features distributing.
>Lee will direct and produce the movie with Peele producing via his banner Monkeypaw Productions, along with Sean McKittrick, Shaun Redick and Raymond Mansfield of QC Entertainment and Jason Blum of Blumhouse Productions. The latter group teamed up previously to produce Peele’s groundbreaking horror thriller Get Out, a box-office sensation of early 2017.
>The team-up between Lee and Peele is momentous because it represents two black filmmakers from different generations working on a socially conscious project that couldn't be more timely given the recent racial unrest in America.

>Black Klansman, the true story of an African-American police officer who infiltrated the KKK.
Should be a comedy, not a thriller.
Why does Marvel have such awful villians? Ego, the living planet? Not even Kirk Douglas could save that role.
Dormammu was fucking retarded too.
Reminder that Sony and Fox, while having the lowest lows of all contemporary cape films, have widely exceeded the quality of that of anything Marvel or DC have ever produced.

DORMAMMU
>>87256871
Magneto is one of the greatest villians of all time. It's a damn shame Ian McKellen hasn't played him in the lead villian role since X3.
