I unironically think this is the best Star Wars, even better than the Empire Strikes Back.
To me it gives off more of an emotional standpoint to the story than the other episodes, with Anakin battling betweeen joining Palpatine, and saving Padme, or stopping him and potentially having her die. It makes you see his transformation into Darth Vader more understandable.
It also, to me, has the best battle scenes. From the space battle over Corouscant, to the last battle between Obi-Wan and Anakin.
Don't get me wrong the original trilogy was good, but I like Revenge of the Sith the best, followed by Attack of the Clones.

The Terrorizers is legit 10/0, I've yet to see Taipei Story but I got the Blu a few days ago.
But to get more in depth about your question, ABSD has great pacing and it lets you really examine everything about the picture and the subtext, I don't know much about Mainland China and other China, but the film does well at establishing the conflicts between them and the lack of identity of Taiwan, it's also a very good coming of age tale, but for personally it did nothing.
I'm glad it got so much attention though.
