The GREAT debate.

left: agile killer
right: uncomfortable in his suit
right could snap left in half my guy
Left: Ineffectual weakling, not intimidating, no endless nightly war on crime. Defeats a couple criminals then spends a decade hobbling around on a busted knee crying over some woman he knew for a few days. Not a martial artist, not a detective.
Right: A brutal, imposing figure. A skilled fighter, a capable mind, a driven warrior who wages an endless war on crime, even after the death of loved ones, i.e. Batman.
ALL THE STARS ARE HERE
GO!
I love the sopranos, it's my favorite but theres one offputting thing about it. almost always when two characters meetup they directly start to discuss business for like two minutes and then leave. sure this happens, but not almost every time

Yes Chase should have filled out the dialouge with them discussing the weather, the Yankees, and how many times they hit their wife the night before and stretched each show to 3 hours to make the dialogue more realistic.
It also would have been great if we could have watched as Carmela and Rosalie talked about their yeast infections for 20 minutes or so.

I'd unironically watch them hangout at satriales. but seriously, what I mean is the whole setup like you see them drive through half jersey just to talk for two minutes
Every show is like this. One of the purposes of writing dialogue is to answer the question "why now?" - why am I portraying this scene, what is the importance to the overall plot? So they focus on scenes that keep the plot moving and as such they generally are about business or family or relationships, etc.
If you want to watch something where it's just characters talking about their lives with no real reason then watch a Linklater movie like Waking Life or Slacker
WTF MAN

I didn't laugh once in this movie, but I didn't hate it.
I recently watched this movie and liked it alot. Can we discuss it?
Is this a boy or a girl? Not that it matters :^)
Was aite. Another passable teen flick. I like how it wasn't glamourized horse shit with perfect characters like fault in our stars, and it was more honest with the characters portrayals. Though they were mostly motivated by being fucking stupid teens it at least made it relatable.

How can such racism be put into childrens novel?
JK Rowling should apologize
If anything, Rowling should apologize for creating one of the dullest franchises in the history of movie franchises. Seriously each episode following the boy wizard and his pals from Hogwarts Academy as they fight assorted villains has been indistinguishable from the others. Aside from the gloomy imagery, the series’ only consistency has been its lack of excitement and ineffective use of special effects, all to make magic unmagical, to make action seem inert.
Perhaps the die was cast when Rowling vetoed the idea of Spielberg directing the series; she made sure the series would never be mistaken for a work of art that meant anything to anybody?just ridiculously profitable cross-promotion for her books. The Harry Potter series might be anti-Christian (or not), but it’s certainly the anti-James Bond series in its refusal of wonder, beauty and excitement. No one wants to face that fact. Now, thankfully, they no longer have to.
>a-at least the books were good though
"No!"
The writing is dreadful; the book was terrible. As I read, I noticed that every time a character went for a walk, the author wrote instead that the character "stretched his legs."
I began marking on the back of an envelope every time that phrase was repeated. I stopped only after I had marked the envelope several dozen times. I was incredulous. Rowling's mind is so governed by cliches and dead metaphors that she has no other style of writing. Later I read a lavish, loving review of Harry Potter by the same Stephen King. He wrote something to the effect of, "If these kids are reading Harry Potter at 11 or 12, then when they get older they will go on to read Stephen King." And he was quite right. He was not being ironic. When you read "Harry Potter" you are, in fact, trained to read Stephen King.
