Just watched pic related. Holy shit where has this movie been all my life. The sequence about the Union captain defending a bridge was one of the coolest film acts I've ever seen. The cinematography, the sets, the music - all amazing.
Also, Euro-western thread. What else should I watch? Did I screw up by watching this before the Fistful movies? Any good documentaries about these films?

I had two very different experiences with this film.
The first time I watched it was alone in the dark with headphones on and there were several times where I actually had to pause the movie and take my headphones off because I thought I was hearing noises inside my house. My heart rate was elevated and I considered at one point whether or not I would be able to finish. Legit terrifying.
The second time was with a group of friends, and it was honestly one of the worst viewing experiences of my life. No one was paying much attention and the pacing made it seem like it was dragging on and on. The sexual transmission aspect made it awkward because we were watching with girls, and I could just tell that everyone was wondering why we were watching it at all and hoping it would be over soon, and it was like they all breathed a collective sigh of relief when it ended.
It was their idea to watch, so no one blamed me or anything, but I went away realizing that the setting in which this film is viewed is essential to whether or not it works.

That's a great point. My friends liked it but we all watched it separately and individually (I also watched it in the dark). It's definitely not a fun group horror film. If you do watch it in a group everyone has to know going in that it's a "serious" horror film, not a fun one.

>Glover fans might be disappointed with their charismatic fave’s brief appearance in Homecoming. After all, he only pops up in two scenes. What people may not realize, though, is that Glover’s brief scenes could have major, major ramifications for the MCU.
>The Prowler, Glover’s character is a big deal: Aaron Davis is Miles Morales’ uncle. And there’s even a line of dialogue in Homecoming that nods to this; Glover’s character tells Spider-Man that he wants to get these crazy weapons off the street because he has a nephew that he’s looking out for. That means that there is a Miles Morales in the MCU. Why is Miles Morales a big deal? Because…he’s Spider-Man.
>Miles Morales was introduced in August 2011, and Bendis confirmed that he was directly inspired by Glover. The character, a black/Latino web-slinger with his own supporting cast and relatable worries, was an instant hit and he gave an underserved audience a real A-list hero to root for. Miles has proven to be an enduring addition to the Marvel Universe; he has his own action figures, appeared in the Ultimate Spider-Man cartoon (voiced by Glover), and has his own animated feature film coming out.
>Now, a live-action appearance in the MCU is totally on the table. What makes this so perfect is that, once again, Donald Glover paved the way for Miles Morales. The actor’s campaign to play Spider-Man in 2010 led to the character’s creation, and now–seven years later–his role in Homecoming just made it possible for the character to spring to life on the big screen.

So, the overall message of the movie is that we shouldn't forget the past or we are doomed to repeat it. The problem with this, is that the movie fails to see why far-right ideologies have been on the rise in Europe. They seem to attribute it to inherent racism (There's a little Hitler in all of us), instead of being a reaction to the consistent institution of white guilt over something that most modern people weren't even around for. It did have a nice start though.

40k really is an untapped market when it comes to non-shit films/series. A mix of comedy and grimdark starring the Orkz (with special appearances from Gork and Mork) could even draw in people who don't know about the series if it were done properly.
I'm still waiting on the Lord Inquisitor to come even though it's a fanmade skit that's only like 20 minutes long.
