Just saw this. Why did the critics hate it again? It had a great cast, amazing visuals, fast pacing, an awesome soundtrack, a finely balanced tone between light-heartedness and seriousness, and a journey for the protagonist to experience. How come Fast and Furious 8 gets a pass from critics and audiences for its lack of substance and flavourless action, yet this movie gets panned for its lack of substance but a maelstrom of action, style and thrills-galore which fill you with ecstasy?

it was a fine prodigal son film. I think it was trying to go in the realm of Boorman's Excalibur, just the fantasy part felt a bit too disneyland in my opinion.

The way your post is written makes me think you fell in love with mad men. That means you will never find a show that can beat it, since this was the first one that made you feel this way. It happened to me with The Last Airbender. I know there are better shows out there but nothing will ever beat it.

I started watching Breaking Bad when it first came out, and at the time I thought it was pretty cool. However, I recently started watching The Sopranos and it made me realize how fucking terrible Breaking Bad is. I'm at the point now where I can legitimately say I dislike the show. It's filled with shitty characters, retarded plots and the emotional weight of almost every situation is ruined by the happy-go-lucky vibe emenating from every pour, due in no small part to Jessie "Yeah bitch" Pinkman who clearly exists only for the purpose of attracting the younger crowd knowing that nobody gives a fuck about a geriatric cancer patient.
The Sopranos did everything Breaking Bad did, but better, and pretty much 10 years earlier. It had actual believable characters and scenarios, and the entire show was basically about Tony's evolving psyche and how it impacts everyone around him. Breaking Bad took this formula, removed the intelligence and kept the drugs and guns. It is simply a shittier show that doesn't even begin to approach the masterful quality of The Sopranos.

Seriously this film went on for about 30 minutes too long, Tarantino is an overly self-indulgent tard who could make really good films if he just learnt some self-control. The moment he thought "I should act in this film as an Australian" is the moment the film should have been wrapped instead.
