It's Kubrick's birthday. Let's thank him for his cinematic accomplishments and write a letter to his deceased soul one word at a time.

And the Oscar for best picture goes to...

it wouldn't surprise me if this crap gets an oscar
I watched this movie with an open mind and its objectively shit. It's a shame cause I was expecting something good. How it has 99% with almost 300 reviews on Rottentomatoes is fucking mindboggling.
I'm legit scared for the future of filmmaking.
Why did this movie get great ratings everywhere? Because it's about slavery? Americans are so weird.
I liked it.

Did he get away with murder? Was the 8th Juror a plant by the defense to misinterpret the facts resulting in a not-guilty verdict?

>beyond a reasonable doubt

the main jury dude is Satan. Thats the twist
Devil's Advocate
Was Armond White correct this whole time?
>>85158744
Yes. He cuts to the core of what was going on in the reviewing of this film.
Don't get me wrong, I thought it was above-average for horror. But it's very clear that reviewers were saying to themselves "it's satire! Therefore it's automatically good!" rather than actually considering the movie for it's merits outside of modern trends.
Sort of. Only a black man can remark on it though
I find myself relating to Jim when I rewatch the office
>>85158725
You mean in life or how you react to the office humor?
>>85158747
In life
Jim did nothing wrong
Thoughts on this movie? remember years ago my mom had rented it(never got chance to watch), just got reminded of it by a coworker. Worth downloading right now?
>>85158957

Is anyone else watching electric boogaloo?
>>85158538
How does it compare to the movie?
>>85158659
first season was pretty alright. Good summer junk to watch. Didn't realise it had been a year. Not much else on a Tuesday night so might as well.
>>85158538
it's better than the movie, there's a few things that are hit or miss or stuff that could have been carried through better, but otherwise it's great
What films noir have we been watching lately /tv/?
Planning to watch the Criterion of Ride the Pink Horse tonight. Didn't like Montgomery's adaptation of Lady in the Lake but this one seems less gimmicky.
Dead Reckoning.
Bogey being Bogey and Lizabeth Scott was a babe. Very underrated flick.
>>85482400
Lizbeth Scott is legendary. Love her in Too Late for Tears (a top five noir for me) and Pitfall too.
Remember Dead Reckoning ending very nicely, but can't remember much of the first and second act. A big fire, right?
