Twin peaks, X-files, Northern Exposure, Stranger Things and most recently Gravity Falls.
I've always loved this setting and style of show, so do any of you guys know of anything similar?
I really need more of this sub-genre.

Carnivale
Kolchak the Night Stalker and Supernatural (early seasons)
Eureka, though I've never actually seen it.
Early Smallville, Roswell, and Dante's Cove sorta fit, but with a lot of CW teen drama.
Wonderfalls and Joan of Arcadia
make sure you see this one at the theater, the story is meh but the visuals are pure kino
waka waka waka

The critics were WAY too hard on Valerian.
I thought it was on par with the new Star Trek or the new Star Wars films.
Glad I went to see it.

I agree for the most part. The movie suffers some serious story issues but all the side adventures were so fantastic - like the Big Market part for example.

Hi Dane!
>on par with the new Star Trek or the new Star Wars films
this is not praise
Just saw this. Didn't care for it much.
>Peter sounds like his balls haven't dropped yet, almost like Michael J Fox but with less personality
>"great power, great responsibility" is weakly incorporated as a theme
>Peter's fat, faggoty brown friend was annoying
>Vulture's crony Mason was a pathetic bitch and had too much screen time
>Aunt May is almost completely useless in this, might as well have not been in it
>"Flash" DJing Liz's party, being cringey as fuck and not funny, actually used the air horn sound effect to make fun of Peter
>minor SJW pandering (native Americans line, slaves line)
>end credits felt like I was watching an educational children's show on PBS, I honestly felt insulted
There's more but I have a terrible memory and can't recall all of it. Uncle Ben isn't even mentioned in this. In fact, in this movie it feels like he never even existed and Peter's motivation to be responsible came from Tony Stark, who I thought was a terrible role model for him. Aside from maybe 2 really small scenes the only thing I felt in this movie was the joy of the producers from all the money they were making. I didn't expect much. I already knew money was the objective here, but I thought I could be surprised. I don't know what I was thinking. There were a couple of scenes with Holland and Keaton where you could feel the tension, specifically the fear he had for the Vulture, but other than that I don't get the hype. This is a kid's action flick that won't tempt your average adult for repeated viewings.
Asghar Farhadi is pretty cool and all but would he have won his second Oscar if not for the Trump travel pause? I thought Land of Mine was a better movie than The Salesman, if only by a hair. I am happy he won but still...
Also, I watched The Past today. It was ok, maybe a little tepid in parts and the performances weren't quite so moving as in the rest of his movies.
kill all shitskins

ITT: Underrated kino
>>85548882

Let's address the elephant in the room. /pol/. How do we get them to stay in their containment board? I for one am tired of /pol/ threads.

The only thing that works is not responding to them
>>85264143
Wouldn't it make more sense to make a /lib/ containment board for you faggots that insist on browsing reddit?
Why has RT been handing out 90% fresh ratings like it's free candy? There are only 2 good movies on this list.

Maybe you're just retarded and have shit taste OP.
I mean really.
This is /tv/. You all are fucking retards and losers.
Is using Space Oddity in the opening of Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets artistic or cheap? I've grown to feel that throwing in songs like that is more of a crutch than anything. Didn't Adaptation call out that practice in movies?
>Arnold cant ac......
But Arnie is great, anon
>liking the last stand
I like corny but that was some really terrible shit.
God that fucking final bridge scene was a joke.
He can't, he's just very charismatic that you can't help but love him
