The movies he listed are action films that are better than those in the pictures, but I assume you want operator kino rather than simply action films. I'd recommend Dredd for you.

The art scene with the prince music sucked. The "WANNA GET NUTS" part was embarrassing. The costume was awful. All the action scenes were bad. Casting an ugly manlet as Bruce Wayne was a boneheaded decision. Joker's mouth prosthetic was stupid. Now tighten your nostalgia goggles.

Like all war movies from the winning side (and many from the losing side) it's mostly masturbation, but in the post SPR-era you have to hide your masturbation behind a facade of "grit" and faux objectivity. At least when John Wayne shot Gooks in Vietnam it was genuine in its simplicity and lacked the dishonesty of the modern war film. As I said, this is mostly due to Spielberg and later Band of Brothers changing the rules.
