Hi /trv/

First time posting here. Planning a eurotrip sometime between then end of october to mid november -- Trip is suppose to loop from Frankfurt -- Rothenberg -- Munich -- Budapest -- Prague. I'm considering stopping by hallstat but not sure if it'll be "money friendly" since it's a tiny town. I was wondering if the Eurail pass is the way to go (with the 5 days to travel for 2 months deal.) But I'm also considering booking the train tickets individually (which I also understand is a pain in the ass.) Any other suggestions for getting around in those places?

The long passes are good and hassle free
Since this is a eurobread I have a question
My 6 month visa is about to expire and I'm no refugee trying to stay but would happen if I left a month after my visa expires?
The flight cost difference is 4x so I'm wondering if there's some grace period like >leave in 30 days or you're fucked
burger btw

Don't risk it. Even a day of overstaying can get you into trouble. A month of overstay absolutely will get you fucked if caught. Depending on where you try to exit from you could get a heavy fine and banned from Schengen for years. Your only hope is to pray the border official will not bother to look at your passport and check your status.

25 year old white male with a bunch of free time, no girlfriend, and a decent amount of expendable cash and airline miles. Where would you go and why? Mainly interested in stepping outside of my comfort zone (not really sure what that is desu) and have a slight interest in exploring some international prostitution but on a more wholesome level (not as quite as degenerate as Thailand but closer to what you can find in Macau).

My plane is touching down in Frankfurt, Germany in two days. I have a week to do whatever I want and travel wherever from there with a buddy. Tell me some things I can't leave without doing or seeing. Open to all suggestions.

Where are you from, what do you like, do you have a budget? Frankfurt has nothing of interest, so get out of there as soon as you can to the many nicer places nearby.

Why do people hate on American Airlines? I just had my first flight with them and they were just as good as any of the Asian or European airlines I have flown with.

Most likely because the usual airline rating threads on here are mostly frequent fliers that either have status or can afford business/first and there's a big difference Interconti service.

Interconti economy is pretty much the same if you take AA, Lufthansa, Delta, TAM, Emirates or Cathay. Meh tier seat, edible meal (if you want a good meal order a Kosher or Lactose free meal) and the usual free wine/beer stuff if you ask and in the nicer planes a discretion in the gally...

Continental US that's a whole different world. I would rate AA there on pair with EasyJet or Ryan Air and just slightly above Spirit. So it's shit if you have anything but a carry-on.

The real difference starts in business or first where I would rate AA on the utter shit level just like TAM, Condor or BA. That has nothing in common with it's competition from seat quality, lounges, service, food quality to wine selection. The product is just not worth the money.
>>
>>1271602
Business class is always a waste for intercontinental flying unless someone else is paying.
>>
>>1271602
Don't insult EasyJet and Ryanair.
Never in my life did I see a full crew od 60+ alcoholics running a flight. They had the passengers closing the overhead bins, were too uncoordinated to be able to do so. Nothing was done right, how we managed to get from A to B is entirely on the engineers of that plane I think. That AA flight I only stayed on cause we were taxiing by the time it became clearly visible that the crew had no clue where they were.
Ryanair crew can be clueless, but they look reasonably sober always.

so i am moving to germany in september. around Dusseldorf. Rheinberg to be specific. Anyway, i speak extremely little german and want to learn and go to study it full time when i am there. Is there any classes you can take for an absolute beginner to learn like an introductory course? also. Any advice in general about moving there. Going from Australia and moving to live with my girlfriend,

i live about 90 min north of you, in portland.

new england is quiet. it's pretty. boston is an okay place to live for a bit. i subletted a room for a summer back in 2007. had an okay time. dunno if id wanna live in the city for too long. has an okay night life scene if that's your thing.

if you want adventure and nice driving, just drive north to vermont, new hampshire, or maine. lots of shit you can see/do in a day if you have a car.

you've got a micro center, which is pretty rad, if you're a tech geek.

Going in December with three friends and we ended up booking for 40 nights.

We originally planned like 32ish days but one of my friends suggested depart/return days that totalled this long and we just went with it. Though i'm still excited to go, I feel a little bit of regret at agreeing with the length. I can already imagine getting homesick halfway through.

Last time I travelled to Singapore for just over a week with family, and even then I got bored and wanted to go home halfway through.

I'm hoping its different this time since i'm with friends so we can go out and have more fun, and we will be travelling to many cities.

If you are travelling from one place to another every few days it's not too long.

Well maybe it will get long for you, but Europe is quite diverse and there are so many countries and things to see.

You might get tired of your friends, though.
>>
>>1272234
depends on what you like to do
it's way too much to get drunk every evening and go around the most touristic places during the days
it's not enough to learn some culture and shit
>>
>>1272234
If you spend like 4 days per country, you are golden. Go to eastern europe and the balkans by bus, you will love how diverse europe is.

What country are you guys flying to/from?

Anyone here who lives all over the globe? Most of you it seems travel to a destination for couple of weeks or spend 1-2 year in a region. Spending 10 years constantly moving is something entirely else. Not even ever going back home. Last time I was home that was 14 years ago. Anyone?

This DESU.

Traveled to about 35 countries since 2013 and am close to being through with backpacking. While I still love traveling and want to continue exploring new places, I'm definitely beginning to crave stability.

Thinking about doing a master's degree overseas in conjunction with the Peace Corps or another academic project. I'd love to live elsewhere and learn a new language, but I think it's time I forge some long-term connections rather than contenting myself with hostel friends.

And why? It's hard to choose because I have visited many museums, but my choice is MNAC (Museu Nacional d'Art de Catalunya) because there I discovered many good artists that I had never heard of, such as Joaquim Mir and Torné Esquius.

Also, recommend me some obscure museums, thanks.

Museo del Oro: Incredible amount of gold

Casa Nacional de la Moneda: imagine you are in that dirt poor bolivian town and then you enter the site where the first modern industrial production of coins began. incredible. everything is still original and the guides really explained the history nicely.

i enjoyed most of the art museums in south america's capital cities. buenos aires and sao paulo generally have the best museums.

I know that the Louvre is the meme answer but what's great about it is the fact that it actually is a mixed Museum from ancient Egyptian artifacts to Greek scuptures to Italian paintings.

Japan. At least, in Tokyo. Don't know about the rest of Japan.

Hello /trv/

I'm an African American about to enlist in the US Air Force. I'm already planning on using my vacation time to travel to Europe, Asia and South America.

My goal for travel, is to get the "bro experience"... partying, hostels, back packing, meeting other travelers, hooking up, and even possibly sex tourism. & hopefully on the cheap.

My question is what countries on each continent should I think about going to? Where are people in general (or women) local or tourist most receptive to black travelers? Where should I not go if i'm black.

Also I would probably keep my military affiliation to myself while traveling. Is it silly of me to think people in certain places may look down on me for it? If its not, what places are not receptive to US military members?

>>1270793
In most places the us army is seen as the tool of the devil, they would not beat you up or anything, but it won't make them like you any more

Most of european cities are pretty okay with black guys, but don't visit rural areas, esp in eastern europe

I would recommend brazil, france or indonesia. All of these are pretty cheap, have a lot to see and are racially diverse.

What ever you do, don't go to india or korea. I was once denied acces to a bar in korea because "no animals"
>>
>>1271038

(OP)

Youre entirely serious about India and Korea? Or are you dramatizing? Can you elaborate on tohr experiences with racism in these places?
>>
>>1271039
I am not joking! I went to both countries, inndia has a problem with mob violence, so if a black man does something wrong, a mob often attacks random people of colour. India is a very caste based society, and the darker you are, the lower your cast is supposedly

In korea, its the same in japan i assume, people see dark skin as a sign of barbarism. I am not kidding when i say that people stared at me, and some even made a comment like making monkey noises. You should be fine in seoul, but once you leave the big cities they act like 18th century southerners

They treated my white friends like semi gods, while i was seen as an animal. So no i would seriously not recommend it, really kills the mood

The worst that ever happend was when a group of people invites my white friends to a club, but "there are no blacks allowed"
Really fucked with my head for a few days

I am planning a trip to South East Asia (Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, Laos) in January. Has anyone ever used the G Adventures tour service?

SE Asia is not a place where you need to take a tour around. It's really easy to get around on your own, there's tons of backpacking infrastructure set up for it.
>>
>>1270720
Well I think I would be more comfortable traveling in a group, and I like the fact that they throw in free meals.
>>
I've never used G adventures but have used Geckos and Intrepid. If you get lucky with the right group of people it can be amazing, if you get stuck with a couple of cunts it will really kill the buzz of the whole trip. The tour leaders are usually very chill and happy to have drinks with and organise any unsavoury activities you would like to do. Or at least give you solid advice on how to go about doing it. The itineraries G adventure do is baically your cookie cutter attractions with a home stay or 2 chucked in for "authenticity". These type of tours use a tipping kitty system that feels like a bit of a rip off.

Like the other anon said. SEA is very much built for backpackers and you can save money just planning it yourself.
