I'm on the East Coast near NYC, and I have about a thousand dollars to work with. On the 29th of August, I have to be home for classes.
I was toying with the idea of traveling alone and frugally for the rest of the summer. Only issue is, I'm sort of a boring dude, and I don't really know what to do in terms of finding excitement. I was considering just beach bumming it up and finding parties in the NYC and Jersey area, but is there anything more I should do?
I'm 22, and I don't have much experience in partying, let alone really traveling like this. The amount of freedom I'm given here is sort of intimidating, and I'm not sure where to start.
Go to another country. Will be dramatically cheaper and more fun. Solo travel in the US isn't great.
Easiest to get to from the US and still good for bumming around would be the riviera maya in Mexico - head down to Playa Del Carmen, stay in a social hostel there, and everything else will work itself out.

The only issue I have with leaving the US is I only have 1000 dollars, if I have to spend most of it on getting out of country I'll be fucked.
However Riviera Maya might be feasible since I could trudge in by bus if need be.
Im in Santa Ponta, Mallorca. Any recommendations on things to do, resaturants etc?
prostitutes my nigga
What's the best way to up and start a new life somewhere else in the world? I'm in the UK and I'm getting pretty sick of this country. How much should I save up, where should I go and what's the best line of work to go into?
Pic unrelated
Just go to Memestralia or Meme Zealand.

Hey
Going on a hiking trip with qt3.14 in the german / french boarder area next week for 5 days.
We're gonna start our trip at Feiburg im Breisgau and porbabs stay one night before we head on and enjoy the city I guess.
Are there any sights in Freiburg we shouldnt miss out on?
Any trails you could recommend afterwards? We could ride a bit by train to the closest cities p.e. Straßbourg / Basel but general aim is to stroll by foot and camp.
Maybe so. has any experiences with the frech national parcs close by: Parc naturel régional des Ballons des Vosges and Parc naturel régional des Vosges du Nord?
Thanks in advance /trv
The cathedral is nice, if you've got time, rent some bikes and ride to kirchzarten, nice little German village with some old bierhauses
how far is kirchzarten? possible to reach by foot in one day ?
If you are from Freiuburg: are there any campsites you would recommend in particular there seem to be lots of.
Thanks m8

hi their OP!
I was in Gävle last month, so I guess you have been to the park with the angels, right? https://youtu.be/_JZgUR1LLTE
You could go up to Umea and Sundsvall, even to Boden and Kiruna. Or down to Uppsala.
>>1269305
havent been there yet, heading up to camp at the metal festival on the 13
Sweden is a bit expensive of a country to stay in tho
Shameless bump
Hi /trv/, /v/ here!
I recently found about this comfy board and since I'm really into travelling I thought I could rev up a new thread and ask few things away.
I'll be doing some charity work at Buenos Aires during Aug 1 - Sept 25. Nothing too demanding, but it provides shelter and lunch so there's that. First of all, any of you anons live there or will be there druing those dates? I've never met any anons but it could be fun. Also, some more questions;
>I'll have a steady income of 200 dollars per week with probably extra 400 per month. I've also saved up about 500 dollars. Would that be enough to eat and drink anything I want, whenever I want?
>I'm certain I can go to Uruguay easily since there seems to be a ferry, and I'm planning to get a plane ticket for Chile. Is it safe/easy to go to other neighboring countries such as Paraguay and Bolivia?
>Can people speak English?
>Is it safe to walk around at night (possibly drunk)?
Any and all advice are welcome too! Again, great and comfy board!

no, it's the capital of a developed country, $1200 a month discretionary spending will keep you entertained, but you wont be rich
yes, but you have to pay $160 to go to paraguay and bolivia, have to apply to enter paraguay unless you fly to asuncion
some, but don't expect them to, you'll have to pay more for services offered in english
it's a city of 8 million, is Chicago or LA safe to walk around drunk at night?
>>1269118
>>1269130 answered your first question, let's make the others:
>I'm certain I can go to Uruguay easily since there seems to be a ferry, and I'm planning to get a plane ticket for Chile. Is it safe/easy to go to other neighboring countries such as Paraguay and Bolivia?
Paraguay and Bolivia are a little bit more dangerous than Argentina, but just keep your eyes always opened and everything will be fine. Your main worry will be Bolivian "paros" at its roads.
>Can people speak English?
As BBAA is a cosmopolitan city, it won't be difficult. But it is below average comparing to Europe.
>Is it safe to walk around at night (possibly drunk)?
At least when I did it in 2005 it was. But i don't think the situation decayed so much.
>Any and all advice are welcome too!
They said the best Argentinan alfajor is Capitán del Espacio.
I'm going to Florence for a few days this week so I'm looking for suggestions on where to go, or general tips.
Mostly just looking for art, museums, food and coffee, but any suggestion is appreciated.

Hit up the Duomo
>>1268974
Palazzo Pitti's museum is awesome. Unusual, but awesome.
>>1269075
Seconded. Also it's much less crowded than Uffizi or Academia.
If you're staying longer OP you can always hop on a train and explore some other cities. But if you're only staying for a couple days I'd just do the standard circuit
Thoughts on sleeping in your car to save money while travelling? AKA car dwelling / van dwelling.
Thinking of taking a trip around the US in my SUV but worried about shitting my pants etc.
>>1275450
I did it once, never again. a 30 dollar airbnb or 35 dollar motel 6 is miles ahead almost always
>>1275450
if you are comfortable it's fine, just find rest stops along the highway and make sure your stuff is secure. you might want something to block your windows so people can't peak in too.
I usually rotate nights, so I sleep in my car one night, then drive and check into a hotel sometime around one pm to take a shower and get clean. Then stay at the hotel that night, then I sleep in my care the next night. I cut my accomodation cost in half like that, and I hate hotels so it works out.
How do you get between cities in America without a car? Can bus and train tickets be bought cheaply on short notice? Are there any sites or resources that can help me find transportation (like the ones in the sticky, but for America)? How did those of you that have traveled in the states get around?
>>1275073
A lot of it is dependent upon your state.
Which state are you interested in?
>>1275073
Plane tickets are almost always cheaper than train tickets. Greyhound is fairly affordable but is an absolute nightmare for extended trips. I'm speaking from experience. If driving is out of the question, you can try your luck on craigslist rideshare.
>>1275085
This. you can usually snag some cheap 1 way tickets for under 100 bucks to a city far away, just plan it out a bit before going and you'll be fine.
I'm going to be studying and working in Germany for a semester. I can understand German and speak it for the most part, because both of my parents are from there. The only thing is I've never been there before. Does anyone have any insight to studying/ living in Germany?
Yep, what do you wanna know?
>>1275266
Mainly about the FKK clubs
>>1274415
I don't really recommend it. If you are looking to experience muslim culture it's better to go to the Middle East.
Currently I'm planning to travel for my birthday in september and wanted to hit the West Coast having never been there before but having a hard time deciding where to go.
So far I've narrowed it between Seattle and Los Angeles. What are some pros and cons of each place or something to try to do/look for in particular?
>>1275398
Both are awful cities, do some research and find some actual good cities on the west coast, they exist and are leagues better than LA or seattle, both of which have people who think they are better than you
>>1275400
What do you suggest? I've never been to the west coast so I don't really have much to go on in that regards.
>>1275405
Not the other anon but I've lived in both cities and they're right. Los Angeles is a teeming cesspool with intermittent interesting stuff that you can find elsewhere. Santa Barbara is an easy destination that has beaches and hikes just like LA, healthy/hipster food. San Diego gets talked up but I think it's the most boring ghost town I've ever been to. Seattle is filled with the most obnoxious hipsters I've ever encountered, even more than Portland. Lots of traffic too.
Depends on what you want to do. If you want to do city stuff, deal with the price and go to San Francisco. If you just want the West Coast Rockies kinda feel, get a car in SF and drive North or East and check out forests and/or deserts.

Why?
Whats happening to it ?
Flying into Frankfort tommorrow; flying out of there 6 days later. What are some cities/towns worth seeing within reasonable distance?
>>1275379
The alsace region of France is fucking gorgeous, also the black forest and bavaria regions of germany are ~2.5-3 hours away from frankfurt and if you want to trek, Prague is 5 hours away
Honestly if I were you I wouldn't even go into Frankfurt, it's a business city and not that fun to be in.
So imo from most recommended down:
>Alscace
>Burgundy
>Bavaria
>Swiss Alps
>Black Forest
>>1275379
shoulda chose Colombia
Heidelberg is just an hour away. It's a must.
Also, the only good thing in Frankfurt is world class brothels.
I have a week off and was planning on doing nothing but I found a round trip ticket to Colombia for 600 tommorrow should I do it? I Dont know any Spanish but ive wanted to go for a while is this a bad idea or not
anyway its better thn your plan, perhaps
Colombia isn't that great if you don't speak any spanish. I would not recommend it, altough you will still enjoy it.
Can someone instruct me about travel photography to earn money? I have read that having a huge instagram fan base and selling prints is the way to go, but that sounds way to easy. Any real suggestions or tips in earning money this way? Here is an example of my photography skills.
>>1275045
you took a phone quality pic?
Keep in mind a bunch of people now of days are fine with just someone holding their cellephone or taking a selfie. Unless you can pick up on the tourist hotspots and know when travel busses/tour groups are showing up where and when. Chances of you ever making a profit are slim to none.
>>1275045
