Much appreciated

Is Costa Rica too normie? I want to take my gf out of the country for the first time.
>>1205318
>Is Costa Rica too normie?
Do you have any idea how retarded you sound?
It is a country. It has stuff. You can go there. Take your girl there if you want to, you don't have to be an edgy maroon to get advice on /trv/.
What sort of stuff do you and she like to do?
>>1205318
>too normie?
I don't know what that's supposed to mean, but the Cloud Forest, Arinal and the Pacific coast are well worn by tourists, especially upper middle class white Americans. You can walk into Pizzeria de Johnny in Monteverde and the crowd will look like you're in a wealthy Connecticut suburb. And on the Pacific coast there will be families staying in all inclusive resorts, and paying a lot of money to do so.
I found the Atlantic coast to be a little more run down and chill. Still touristy as fuck, but a little quirkier, and not quite as expensive because it's a little off the beaten track.
If you're looking to travel someplace that feels a little edgy Costa Rica isn't a good choice. But it is beautiful. I've been twice and enjoyed it. What it may lack in interesting culture it makes up for in natural beauty and friendly people.
Yes. Clearly you need to make her first experience abroad a month-long walking tour of Mazar-i-Sharif and the surrounding Balkh province.
Hi /trv/
I am going to travel across the world in this spring.
I was hoping that you lads could give me some tips and maybe some countries to visit.
Why are you skipping South Africa? Why do you take the advice of a bunch of /pol/ neckbeards who have never left their basements seriously?
If you are going to skip Africa I assume you might as well just go straight to South America from Oceania or vice versa.
With the exception of Russia and a few others, your path mostly goes through the relatively nice and 1st-world countries. Nice countries are boring to travel through. They're generally very similar to eachother, you can't get away with much, and also very expensive.
Go find the real shitholes with interesting cultures on each continent, go through those for the most part. That's what I just did for a year, wouldn't have changed a thing.
>>1205300
And I also don't understand why you have Argentina as your only destination in South America. There's plenty of more interesting stuff to see in the midwest of the continent imo. You have the north of Chile and Bolivia with a very interesting landscape (Atacama and salt flats) and Peru with its facinating Inca culture.
I was in all of those places last summer but didn't find Argentina to be worth the effort at all.
Ok I have been in Mexico for weeks and have not been following the news much since I have been in remote beaches.
Are they going to kill me for being american today since trump is taking office?
Has anyone heard about any protests or anything?
why would honest Mexicans in Mexico care about Trump?
i don't follow NA politics much, but I thought Trump was against illegal immigrants? (i.e criminal Mexicans in America)
>>1205657
Borders are unjust. I see no reason why I cant go to any place in the world whenever I please. If someone challenges an unjust law, I do not consider them a criminal.

Out of all the normie dream destinations (Europe, Thailand, LA/NY) Dubai gets the least amount of love on this board. So, can we have a Dubai thread?
Have any of you anons even visited or, even better, actually lived in Dubai?
What is there to do? When is the best time to visit? How is daily life there? Did you work while living there?
Any and every thing that is related to Dubai is allowed in this thread
(pls post in this thread I'm trying to see if I should take a summer internship there)
what makes dubai a dream destination? is there anything to do there besides shop for rolexs and cheetahs?
>>1205131
Well considering that 100% of the people I've spoken to about traveling to Dubai respond with some form of "Holy shit you're so lucky" "I hate you" or "Take me with you" and every time Dubai is brought up just in general people usually say how lit it would be to go / live there
I'm not saying it's a good fit for this board (Real Travelers™) but I would say almost all the general population, at least in the US, looks favorably at it
It is the most vapid and worthless shit hole city on the planet. You know when ghetto ass people fall into a bunch of money and then buy a bunch of expensive shit to try to appear like they have class, while simultaneously looking down at everyone else? Well that's Dubai. It is a place built by rich people who are rich literally only because their families have been gifted ungodly amounts of money for generations. There is no class, no culture, behind the gaudy exterior everything is actually built like shit and they fake being "progressive" while still having medieval fucking laws that all of the moron travelers pretend don't exist when they tell everyone how great it is. It is a place where a bunch of rich people who did nothing to deserve their riches get to jack off to themselves while surrounded by gaudy cheap ass shit. Fucking Disney World has more worthwhile culture than that shit hole.
Which one of these is the best? Which is the most developed and accessible to a burger? I like nightclubs and monasteries.
georgia
it's visa free for up to a year, pro american too, soviets developed resorts in the country
not going to find any good clubbing in any of the countries, men that can afford that there get whores
top notch monasteries
>>1205121
Tbilisi has a bunch of night clubs. With quite a few prostitutes.
Armenia's also very good for monasteries, but Georgia's overall more accessible.
>>1205227
That's true. Monasteries in Armenia are amazing but after a couple of days you are fed up. I vote too for Georgia as you can combine more things
Where should I go on vacation Jamaica, Barbados, Big Island, Hawaii, or the East Coast
>>1205079
Hawaii.
>>1205079
Russia
>>1205422
St. Petersburg is pretty rad, anon.
Hey /trv/, I'm going to be visiting my grandparents in the Charlotte NC area in a week. I don't want to be stuck with my family in the house the whole time, what are some things I should look to do?
Charlotte is devoid of culture. Go to Carrowinds maybe? Asheville is much better.
>>1205040
Yeah I've been seeing in my research that almost everything interesting in North Carolina is either to the west in Asheville/Hickory or Raleigh and Greensboro.
Carrowinds sounds cool, my cousin and I were already planning a day there.
Is there really nothing more stimulating in CLT? No good food or drink, no festivals, no sights, no anything? Fuck why is the South so shit?
>>1205047
I've been in Charlotte for 9 years now. It's a nice city, but pretty bland. At least there's a respectable culinary scene here thanks to a Johnson & Wales university being in the city and lots of wealth due to being a banking center. If you want "culture" the Mint Museum and Levine Museum are pretty good, but you could see both in a day. If you're young (between 18-24), there are a lot of breweries popping up and some really good drinking spots, a nice beer garden, etc.
Raleigh is full of hipsters, but not too bad. And whoever told you Greensboro is somewhere to check out should be shot... place is a pathetic armpit.
Asheville is the shit, my favorite place to hang on NC. Full of interesting people (although it's like Berkeley East). But excellent breweries, tons to do, music and food/wine/beer festivals out the ass, and of course great outdoors related activities.
ps- Carrowinds is closed in the winter.
Traveling to Tuscany in the late spring, and I'm wondering what the highlights of others' trips were in that part of Italy. I'm going to skip Florence and Siena as I've been there on prior trips. I've never really explored the Tuscan countryside, and I'm finding it difficult to pin down a specific itinerary of where to eat and what to experience.
I'd love to do a picnic in some ruins off the beaten path. Any other suggestions are welcome.
Pic unrelated.
>>1205031
Assisi is very nice imo, but I liked northern Italy, Mid italy was kinda eh for me, sorry OP maybe take a train to Switzerland or Croatia
>>1205115
Thanks for the input. I definitely want to say I've seen it, even if it's not my cup of tea.
Any recommendations for where to eat, sites off the beaten path or even tourist stuff, are all welcome. I'd rather have too much info than not enough.
Girls with mustaches.
So I'm going on a trip to California with a buddy of mine to vist another one of our friends who lives in Silver Lake. I don't necessarily like Commiefornia but I haven't seen said Califriend in a of couple years and would love to visit. That being said; How much money should my friend and I bring if we 're driving and staying for around 5 days?
Shamless Selfbumbump bumpity bump. I really would like some expert advice
/tv/ bros dont let this die.
Depends. Do you plan to cook or go out to eat? What do you want to see/do?
LA is usually very expensive, second only to San Francisco and New York.
I am just a Brazilian and I want to travel / stay in Canada. Can any Canadian tell me the best place?
flop
>>1204942
budget and time frame?
I'd say the three parts of canada worth seeing are atlantic, st. lawrence valley and the western mountains/one of the three cities close to them. How many of the three really vary based on time and money.
>>1204949
At least 15k dollars
I want to study and work there, I don't know how much I gonna stay, but I think that 1 year
Hello, I'm taking a trip to Western Europe soon and need advice. Back home I usually wear combat boots with black jeans tucked in like pic related, is this acceptable? I don't want people thinking I'm a fascist.
everything is 'acceptable' in western europe. these just look ugly, not fascist.
black boots with white (or maybe red) laces would be offensive in some places.
we either go practical or fashionable in western europe, this doesn't seem to fall into either category. but you shouldn't worry about it unless you're here to get some superficial girls or do business.
>boots therefore fascist
what
Good ole fashioned Timbs are great, the Nike SFB are good as well. If you're ready to spend more money then buy Danners.
Which of the following two trips would be more fulfilling?
>Kiev and Lviv
>Almaty and Bishkek
I normally like checking out historical places, however I also really like "cultural tourism". I have been offered by a friend to pick which of these two trips we take (will be in Mid April) and I cannot decide.
How about not a communist shithole?
>>1204926
How about you shut the fuck up?
>>1204864
Almaty and Bishkek are for those with a particular interest in Central Asia. Not beautiful cities by any means, so you gotta have an interest in what's behind the facade.
Kiev and Lviv are perfectly decent holiday destinations, just a little bit more challenging than your average European city.
Hello guys, I wanted to know which cities are worth visiting in Germany. I don't know much about this country. I'm planning a road trip and we're probably coming from Amsterdam, visit Germany and then go to Copenhagen.
Should I go to cologne before going to Hamburg ? Any cities around worth going to ?
When are you going? Cologne is awesome during the carnival in February.
>>1204790
I'm planning to go there in May
Dresden is great if you are interested in nice architecture. Also cool bar district (Neustadt).
Cool video about the small town of Yokote in Akita prefecture in Japan.
It's surrounded by mountains, has a lot of fishing spots and a museum of manga.
The "snow huts" festival in winter is also famous.
It's also the hometown of Takao Yaguchi, the author of the fishing manga "Tsurikichi Sanpei".
https://youtu.be/5dbS8wu1boM
Normally I would be annoyed by someone using /trv/ to promote their own video but it's pretty adorable that such a quaint little town, who's claims to fame are also similarly quaint and adorable, would seek out /trv/ as a good place to spread the video. Just adorable.
Random Japanese intern who made this thread, can you tell us anything else about this town that the video didn't cover?
>>1204777
Glad you you liked the video!
The manga museum of the town (not shown) in the video is really nice with a lot of original drawings from famous mangakas.

There's many apple and grape farms where people can come, harvest then eat-in for a few yens.
this is all one giant samefag. however good vid
