I am going to KSA for three weeks for work. We will be spending weekends in Bahrain.

Trying to get an idea of do's and don'ts with local culture, good restaurants or foods to try, historical sites to visit, etc.

In Bahrain, where to go for fun?

What do you like to do for fun. I can answer any questions on Bahrain. I used to be an expat living there.

Do you want high class bar, live music, hip hop club, hookah bar (referred to a shisha locally), a hooker bar, coffee shop? Where to eat? Good restaurants or local food? Do you want to see tourist shit? Do you want to shop? Souq (Bazaar) or mall?
>>
>>1204648

Hey thanks for reply

In Bahrain:

- Good restaurants (local cuisine)
- Pubs with craft beer
- Shisha bars
- Hooker bars
- Touristy stuff to check out
- Bazaars for local nick nacks

Thanks!

I am at work. East Coast USA time, but I will break down some things for you, from my experience. Mind you I was an expat there in 2014, and last there in December 2015 for a couple of weeks for my ex-GFs birthday. So you know how recent the info I provide is. That said I do still keep in contact with a lot of people that live there.

Man I loved the Terminal, what a comfy movie.

It wasn't so much a terrible experience, but more dissapointing;

I study abroad in Taipei, but i've studied Japanese for 2 years and have alot of Japanese friends. They're some of the kindest, warmest, most friendly people I know, so when i went to visit Tokyo a couple months ago i was expecting society have a similar vibe.

Nope. Coldest, most socially detached city i've ever been. The feeling of isolation is huge. People walk around avoiding eye contact, avoiding all human contact.

Yes, please don't go, we have enough tourists out there. Sit in your room.

Nothing wrong with that. Just go out six days for each one you spend inside on your phone.

Have any one of you had a problem with one of those Locks before? I am currently traveling and the damn thing won't open. When I put in the wrong combination, the button doesn't move (as it's supposed to do), but when I put in the correct one, the button moves, but the zippers won't come off the lock as usual. Samsonite official response was "we cant do anything for you in japan, just break the lock".
Well, I am trying to do that but the lock is quite sturdy... Do you have any advice? Pic related, it's the f***ing thing

Yeah I saw that coming... Well thank you for your constructive advice. The combination is right. Pic related, it's my finger on the button. The button wouldn't move if it wasn't the right combination, I can even reset it.

Hey guys. I'm visiting london next month. Are there any places worth visiting? I'm more of a shopping kind of guy.
Also, are there going to be a bunch of muslims?

>Also, are there going to be a bunch of muslims?

yes, loads. london is something like 45% white srsly. 25% of schoolkids there are white.
>>
>>1207914
Ain't that only in particular places in the city though?
>>
>>1207903
>I'm more of a shopping kind of guy.

Big department stores like Harrods and Selfridges are worth seeing but tiresome to me.

There are some good markets depending on the time of week. Camden Locks is worth seeing.

Don't get sucked in to the memes that are Leicester Square and Covent Garden.

is it worth driving between these places or would I be better off flying and just choosing more locations?

For New York and Boston you could drive, or fly into New York and take a bus to Boston.

The other route would be longer to drive, and probably cost more by the time it was said and done than a plane ticket. But it's a beautiful drive with lots of unique places to see and I think you'd be missing a lot of great memories.
>>
>>1207630
The Arizona-Vegas-SF-Portland is a superb drive with lots of great scenery, national and state parks. While Vegas and SF are also interesting. It is a fairly long drive with lots to see.

Washington DC is interesting with both the sights and the Smithsonian. The drive up to NY is not very far (well less than a day) pretty well built up all the way and few of the cities have any great interest. So a bit short to fly but of limited attraction to drive.

I really enjoyed Lake Tahoe, it was nice and fresh. I went when it was cold and it was really nice. Not sure if it's worth the detour but if you pass by definitely dip in.

>Need to spend a few days in Helsinki...will be taking a ferry between Tallinn/Helsinki
What else should I do?
I will be with my girlfriend and we both like history, so we will definitely check out the historical centers of these cities.

My girlfriend is also obsessed with Finland and Helsinki...nothing in particular, just anything really.

My budget would be around $1,000 USD not including airfare

>>
>>1207619
If the weather's nice visit Aland.
>>
It's really cold and dark right now so drinking is pretty much all you can do.

I don't know much about history but definitely check out Suomenlinna. It's an old military base with history stuff on an island accessable by a ferry from the city.

Also check out Sompasauna. It's a public nude sauna near the center.

Kallio äis a chill area with lots of bars and "cheap" beer. I can recommend some clubs if you're interested in those.

Hey guys. I wanna become a traveling adventurer like in the bethesda games. What are some good jobs that hire quick and any retard can do that I can get while I'm traveling on the road? Preferably ones that pay under the table cash in hand. I live in socal. Thinking of going up north. I've got an suv, half a tank of gas, my heart on my sleeve and the world in my eyes. Let's do this.

>under the table, cash in hand
Not likely unless your name is Paco, like to pick vegetables and don't mind living under the threat of deportation.

If you're willing to actually get a paycheck, there's shit tons of tourism work in Alaska in the summer and a lot of jobs involve cash tips.

Where in Finland? Makes a world of difference.

Hijacking this thread.

I'm thinking of spending a couple of months in Turku from around mid March onwards. I guess that and Helsinki. Planning on spending a bit of time in the south of France during the warmer months after that.

I have a passive income of roughly $1500aud/month, and I'll have a few more thousand saved up, which I'm assuming is a good start, but it'd be nice to pick up a part time job bartending or something (cocktail bartender), for a bit of cash and as a way to get to know some people. Is that possible? I don't speak Finnish or Swedish, just English and a touch of French.

Any general tips would be greatly appreciated too.

What are some major red flags that you guys can pick up on that indicate that something is a scam or a tourist trap?

Im heading to Salzburg in august with my school's study abroad program and tourist traps are something i want to stay away from, because i know how much of a touristy city Salzburg can be from my time in Munich

If a cute girl initiates a conversation with someone like me it has to be a scam.
>>

I mean, use common sense. If it seems bogus, then don't proceed. Being in those two cities aren't geared to rip you off. Just don't stay out too late at the bars without a couple mates and for fuck sakes, don't start fights with non-white locals. IE turks, brown people, gypsies. You fight one and all of a sudden ten more come out and jump your ass and take your wallet. Other than that, enjoy your time and take pictures. Try and get a day trip over to Neuschwannstein

Why do young people travel to or stay for a year or two in australia? It doesnt have any cultural or historical significance that is kuch different than other predominantly white western countries. I can understand teaching English in Taiwan for the cultural experience. But whats with Australia? Is it just because people party a lot and have lots of sex or something?

that's it
>>
Weathers nice, friendly people, cool animals (very large enclosures that you can explore eg Australian reptile park), monuments/landmarks, and of course the Aussie party life and drinking culture.

Okay so I know it's a weirdly specific question, and I plan on talking to the agencies here on base, but I'm just coming out of tech school and one of the guys I hung out with in boot camp got stationed in Greenland.

I know the military does flights there: They would have to for supplies, but what are the odds of getting a hop on a plane to a remote base with few people? Any military folks here ever hop a flight to a remote base?

An airline lost my luggage and I've been stranded in Paris for 13 days without any money or clothes.

They havent tried to contact me, they haven't tried to accomodate me in any way and I'm looking forward to suing them.

I have no means to contact them since they give me voicemails and a practically non-existant customer service.

What am I in for, how much can I get, what will I have clean underwear again

Wait you left all your money in your suitcase? Or were you selling things from your suitcase for money? Something doesnt add up
>>
>>1206563
Well, I had all my clothes and credit cards in there, including the apartment keys to my place back home. If it weren't for the fact that I went to visit my girlfriend I would be in the street right now.

I let them know I was stranded from the start, they were supposed to get my luggage back within 48 hours and they haven't; then they said they'd get back to me after 5 days and they didn't. I tried calling them repeatedly but they have the absolute worst customer service ever. All they did was tell me to wait.

It's been 13 days, I had all my grooming stuff in there since you can't carry liquids etc, but since it's looking like they won't ever get my stuff back (I'm leaving on the 30th), I'm really wondering what my options are.

I already described everything that was in there, I did my best to contact them but honestly they're just horrible. They blocked me from calling them and they hung up on me a lot of times simply because I asked for contact info where I could address my problem.
>>
>>1206566
This doesn't add up. EU rules are pretty strict about airlines failing to deliver to customers. You file a formal complaint, end of story. Which airline did you fly?

Doing a solo trip to Tijuana next weekend. Any tips or must see's? Especially for a gringo?
