I'm heading to France this spring. I purchased rou
nd trip tickets on Norwegian air. A small part of me wants to believe that they're going to be like an international JetBlue. But that allure is deminishing.

Does anyone have any experience with using Norwegian? I did some research on them, and they seem just okay. Not awful, but not exactly an upper echelon flying experience. Some decent reviews, some unfavorable... Am I in for some mediocre shit?

Also, Airline quality thread.

Unless you are flying Air Botswana or something, my opinion is that the differences quality of experience between airlines is much less than people like to think it is. The differences between non-budget airlines are even less. So I wouldn't worry to much about it.

At the end of the day, you are sitting in a tin can filled with other people and dry air for however long it takes to get where you want to go.
>>

Nice way of looking at it. Thanks, man.
>>
>>1216113
All of this.

Unless you're on some long haul flight, where the service, comfort and meal service varies greatly by airline because of classes, you will probably feel like this airline is just like most others from first world countries that are all coach seating. This is a low cost airline (which brings about a level of personnel with no loyalties or who don't fly often), but a big one in numbers of flights. As far as safety goes, they have almost 100 nearly brand new Boeings and Airbuses with another 100 on order (new!), so they seem poised to have growing pains.

General tips for low cost airlines, buy a liter water bottle in the terminal, have your own snacks and foods (just in case you can't buy them), regulate your own temperature without buying a blanket, and prepay all your luggage and do everyone online long before you leave, not at the ticket counter or gate.

I want to move to Asia because I am the definition of a rich loser in my country, except for some wealth I acquired from family.

I want to be able to teach English, so I can have something on my resume and meet people.

I only have a 2 year degree, and a high school degree.

My budget is $20,000 a year.

What country should I go to?

I was leaning towards China, South Korea, Taiwan, Japan, Thailand or Vietnam.

Fuck teaching, with that kind of money, save up 2 years worth of funds and learn to play poker. It's easy money.

Last year I completely self funded my 2 month Cambodia trip by spending 2 weeks worth of nights playing 1/2 NL at Nagaworld in Phnom Penh. Made just over $4000 in profit in those two weeks. The only prereq is knowledge, discipline and a bankroll. Tourists who come and go only want to play for fun, they don't take the game seriously, and that means easy money for people who dedicate themselves.
>>
>>1215224
Im not interested in poker...

I know how to invest well, but for some reason my family still see's that as a failure.

Well then invest and do what interests you. Teaching ESL is not fun, and at the end of the day, the kids deserve a dedicated teacher. So unless you are willing to transform yourself into a teacher learn to do something else.

If it's just about your family, who the fuck cares, if you can live in paradise and support yourself through investing why not do it. It's your life, not theirs.

All flippancy aside, no, almost certainly not, especially if you're actually depressed. Work on fixing that.

But all that said, you'll probably be distracted, at least for a while, in another country, so there's no reason not to travel.

It's dumb to think that expatriating will fix you. You have to fix yourself, maybe with professional help. But it probably won't make you worse.
>>
>>1214603
It will give you another chance socially. If you're not happy because of your social life then maybe. If it's more because of your emotional state or professional life, then no.

For those who travel by bus to get to another state or even to another country: what would you change about the system and what do you dislike about traveling by bus?

I love roadtrips and I would love to see a new "mechanic" in which you're able to relax, say, traveling while the drivers puts on some neutral ambient music or lo fi for everyone in the bus, nice decoration, really comfy seats, etc. And if we're talking about a travel agency, my family would love the tour guide to talk about the culture while relaxing and listening to soft music, programmed stops for us tourists and excursionists to take pictures, watch the landscape, etc., before we get to our destination. For the sake of immersion in the culture and relaxation.

I just think some of us enjoy the road way more than the destination we're heading. And I'm tired of just sitting and staring at the window for hours until I get to my destination, I know many buses have T.V. but they all play awful movies.

What about you?

I just thought lo fi music is pretty neutral if there are no lyrics involved, my younger brother (17) tells me that's a good genre to listen while studying or relaxing. I'm 34 so I don't listen to music that much, what would you suggest?

The thing about London is that the touristic things shouldn't be missed, and the cost of living is so damn high, that I find the casual off the beaten path stuff is hard to do at a daily hotel rate. Don't eschew the regular fun stuff.

Kids like brass rubbings, harry potter bus tour, or really any double decker buses, museums and the parks. Older kids probably love the tower of london, boating on the thames, studio tours, markets for food and old weird stuff. The cathedrals are interesting to me, not sure to everyone though. Shopping at the grand dame department stores.

The youngest and hottest hookers will have the worst attitudes. They usually charge per 15 minutes and want you in, done and out in under that time, or you can pay for a second 15 minutes. They're trying to make as much money as possible, as quickly as possible.

You get better service from the slightly older hookers and the ones without packed audiences at their windows, especially the asian ones in the quieter streets.

A lot of the african ones will try to scam you and charge for different positions etc.

I have a few questions about a couple day trip I'm taking to NYC as part of a round-country adventure.

>If I only pay a couple bucks to get in to the Met and Nat History museums will I be looked at as a shit-bag by ticket counter workers?

>My train gets into Penn at around 2am, what is there to do between 2-6am? I was probably just gonna walk around midtown and time square since it will probably be less crowded but still walked as such as to make it relatively safe. Not to interested in bars but if it's my only option, I do like Jazz and blues.

>What are some cool neighborhoods to check out and bike in and around Brooklyn? I'm pretty interested in architecture and like brown stone rowhouses.

>What are some decent places I can get a bite for cheap, mainly mexican and italian places. I'm on a serious budget so nothing fancy.

>What are some good bookstores and other little shops to take a look at while I'm there?

The Met and Natural History museum are more than a few bucks. This is New York not DC Nothing much going on in Midtown at those hours except stare at the homeless. It's not as sketchy as it once was but still watch yourself.
Bed-Stuy and Bushwick for brownstones. Borough Park for a shetel like Jewish neighborhood. Go to Yelp for cheap eats.

>If I only pay a couple bucks to get in to the Met and Nat History museums will I be looked at as a shit-bag by ticket counter workers?

Who cares? It's not like they'll follow you around. You'll never see them again most likely so pay whatever you want. Ignore >>1215119 since you can pay $1 at both places and enjoy the museum as if you paid $20. In fact, that poster is a moron so ignore everything he said.

That's probably the only time I would recommend Times Square. Enjoy the bright lights without all the shitty tourists and people hustling the streets. Take a walk all the way west and walk along the water. Make your way downtown and look out for a diner. They're open 24/7 and are pretty standard across the board. Grab yourself some pancakes, eggs, and bacon.

>What are some cool neighborhoods to check out and bike in and around Brooklyn? I'm pretty interested in architecture and like brown stone rowhouses.

To be honest, I'm not well versed on BK. Grew up in Manhattan and never really made it down there. However, biking along the bridge into BK is a nice way to start and you can grab some good pizza underneath the bridge.

>What are some decent places I can get a bite for cheap, mainly mexican and italian places. I'm on a serious budget so nothing fancy.

I'd recommend keeping an eye out for taco trucks. They're a lot more prevalent in Queens and BK. Give Halal Guys a shot since it's a NYC staple and costs $5 for plenty of food, although prices may have gone up slightly. I always recommend Kati Roll Company since it's great as a snack or a meal. Basically an Indian burrito for about $5.

>What are some good bookstores and other little shops to take a look at while I'm there?

Definitely check out Strand. Enormous selection and just fun to walk around. Kinokuniya is fun if you're into Japanese culture. I would talk a walk down St. Marks place. It definitely not the same place it used to be, but there are a few little neat shops to browse. Lower East Side in general has a lot of cool shops so give that area a walk around.

are celebrations still on for this year? i'd look into that first.
>>
>>1213805
I have been in Thailand for Songkran seven or eight times. The most enjoyable celebration I have personally experienced was in Chiang Mai. (I have not seen elephant spraying, but maybe in Surin?)

Mostly, you are guaranteed to be wet for a few days. Don't have your passport on you (although I did survive having a Ziploc-bagged passport on me once when I got thrown into the old city moat by a little girl with the advantage of the element of surprise). And I'd avoid traveling during the New Year holiday if you can avoid it--trains, buses, planes, and hotels are all at their most crowded for the whole midmonth week or so.

The above anon is also right that you should make sure that the celebration wherever you are going is still on for this year--mourning for His late Majesty is still a long way from finished.
>>
Never saw elephants, but the celebrations in Chiang Mai was a lot of fun. Trucks loaded with buckets and people always driving by, streets filled with people from every age imaginable with water guns, and just an all round good time.

Going on a trip to Morrocco with my best mate.
The plan is to surf and chill as much as we can for one week, but we've never been there before....
Any advice from morrocan bros to make our trip more enjoyable ? We stay around thé agadir area if that helps.
Also, how hard is it to come across weed over there ? ?
Any tips welcome

Also, how are the muslims in Morrocco ?
Will they care if i drink / smoke in their country ?
Obviously i want to be respectful of their customs so what are the big no - no for a traveler ?
>>
It's easy to score hash in all the Moroccan cities. I don't know about weed though. Just be careful of the usual scams. People talk about set-ups by the police, but that might be just talk.
You'll want to travel up the coast a little bit from Agadir just to see the sights and the quieter surf towns. Make sure to eat some of the bananas in Tamri, a.k.a. Banana Village. And you can either hitchhike or take a taxi to Vallee du Paradis to hang with other disgusting hippies, or hike to the other valleys surrounding it to get away from the disgusting hippies. There's some kind of meme waterfall up in that area which I've never seen, but which should be flowing pretty good at this time of year.
>>1213659
Generally speaking, in Morocco being high on weed is tolerated more than being drunk, but in Agadir I wouldn't worry about either one.
Just don't act like a substance-abusing hooligan in the streets; that's where most tourists start to offend people.
And if you do go to the mountain villages, tread very lightly, say 'salam aleikum' or 'mamnk a tgit' to people.

Mnyeah, sort of. I lived in Trieste for a while, so I'm biased (positively, very much so), and I travelled a fair bit in the region.

You've got 4 destinations in 4 days. Even when transport isn't a problem (and it isn't), that's going to limit how much you can see and do.
Honestly, if you're going to Pula and Trieste (to enjoy the seaside for a bit, I imagine), just go to Bled to see the island in the lake and then head on. Except for that, the lake is just a regular lake. Going into the mountains around it means skipping on Leibach, Trst or Pola, and all three are nicer than Bled.

I'll try not to forget to check on this thread if you have any more questions.
