Lots of rain, ugly landscapes and shitty food. Northern France is really a shithole and it's likely been that way for several hundred years.

I hope you like rocks, the sea, agriculture and dreary towns.

Personally I like Northern France a lot, though I mostly go to Brittany. Ideal to kick back, relax, and enjoy the peace and quiet.

Should you spend your twenties having fun and travelling and then build a career in your 30s?

I feel like I'm going to regret working so much in my twenties and not going out having fun and adventures

Unless you're privileged enough to come from money, you have to make sacrifices and determine which trade-off is in your best interests.

I'm 23 and finished high school in 2011; in all likelihood, I won't have my first bachelors degree for another year. I've taken a lot of time off from university to work, travel, and live abroad. While I certainly don't regret the experiences I've had, I do feel an ever-growing amount of pressure to get my act together and start being a productive member of society.

That doesn't mean I want to work 9-5 in an office. I'm tentatively planning to do a two year stint in the Peace Corps while simultaneously earning a masters degree. After that, I'd like to do a PhD or, depending on my final CGPA, apply for medical programs.

No matter what, I'm probably going to be joining the real-world workforce with all of my credentials and skills when I'm about 30. That isn't too old, but it'd make me a full-fledged adult. To an extent, I do wish that I'd traveled a little less and gotten my priorities straightened out earlier.

tl;dr - you can do both, but don't expect there not to be a trade-off. Your career is going to start later and you're going to have to play catch-up to get to the same salary as your peers, unless you're also pursuing an advanced or professional degree (which takes more time, which means you live the broke life for longer than you might like).

And again

I want to go to the Philipenes, what should I know before I go there? Not my first time travelling by myself but the furthest I've ever been by myself. I plan to go to Cebu, I do know people there who will help me get around but for the most part I will be by myself. I'm planning 13-26 June but nothing concrete yet.

I'm here now, it's been about 4 weeks, the people are very helpful and friendly, its more expensive than I thought for things like local food and public transport. I saw manilla, Palawan and Bohol. The most beautiful place was el nido in palawan, the wifi is pretty much non existent all over the whole country and accommodation is fairly expensive for anywhere half decent, but even then the power may cut out or something like that. Overall though it's pretty good.

I spent a month there a couple of years ago. My favourite place was Sagada by far, really beautiful mountain town with a bunch of cool scenery around. It's also a bit of an adventure getting there. Took this photo during a local festival. Was there 5 years ago so might have changed since then.

El Nido was quite nice as well, although felt more touristy.

hi, i'm a filipino currently live in the philippines*~! cebu is basically a more laid back version of manila. the clubbing/party scene there is really good, apparently! the only advice i can give foreigners is to be careful with how much they ask you to spend. they like to rip tourists off so you have to be smart about it but don't expect everyone to be like that either. if you have a local with you, the better. honestly, it depends on what you're planning on doing/buying. if they give you the price and it seems too expensive for something so insignificant then just politely say, "no, thank you" and walk away. they usually chase after you with lowered prices because they're desperate for a sale. you can always haggle when it comes to flea markets and what not.

I'm in greece, fags! What should my black ass do?

I live in san diego right now and I hate it here. It's hot, there's a sjw on every street corner, The weather never changes, it's expensive.

I've been researching different cities and I came up with either Minneapolis or Denver. I went with Minneapolis because it's cheape and seems to have a better city life.

My friend lived in Minneapolis for a couple years and couldn't wait to get out. He also lived in Denver. He liked Denver and hated Minneapolis.

Hi /trv/ !

So my work is sending me to Bangalore (India) for 3 fucking months. How can I make my trip there worthwile ? I'm scared of getting bored as fuck.

I thought about visiting other Indian cities during the weekends but as 25 year old woman traveling alone, I'm kind of scared of sexual harrassment/rape. I was thinking about Goa, Varanasi, New Delhi, Agra and Mumbai. Are these cities safe ?

My other option is trying to visit negihbouring countries during the weekends, like the Maldives. Is it weird for a single girl to go the Maldives by herself ? Maybe Bali is a better option ?

I was in India for a year.

Yeah you're going to get harassed. Indian boys are by far he THIRSTiest group I have encountered. They'll ask for pictures with you 24/7 but wouldn't give a shit about you if you weren't female. A huge amount of them learned everything about white women from porn and will think you're up for fucking. You'll also have boys following you and staring at you for minutes at a time.

I also got a parasite my first week there (Bangalore). Be very very careful with the water. According to some numbers, half the country has it. it's very tough and you'll want metronidazole + albendazole if you want near 100% cure rate.

Indians are also way more tolerant of bug bites and parasites than Whites/Asians. They also aren't bothered by the filth.

God help you.

Lived in New Delhi for a couple years.

Of all the cities you mentioned, Mumbai is by far the safest for women. While it's no New York, it's leagues better than the likes of New Delhi and Varanasi.

Harassment will be unavoidable, but you can take some common-sense precautions to lessen it. I'd advise getting a SIM card as soon as possible and installing apps like Uber. If you're in North India, then don't walk along deserted or seedy-seeming stretches of road unaccompanied.

The worst that's likely to happen is you'll get felt up in a bus or Metro carriage or another crowded place. As a man, I've had very few problems in India, but I've seen my brown female friends suffer plenty.

Be very careful if you're going out clubbing or to bars, as there are lots of men who will try to take advantage of an intoxicated foreign lady. I met up with a couple of Asian girls in Hauz Khas Village once. We were followed all the way down the HKV Village Road (20+ minutes) by a Mercedes full of retarded guys who kept asking us to get in and "party." When we got to the after-party they were intent on dragging me to, the Mercedes guys showed up inside and tried dancing with us the whole night.

It's really pathetic. Hung out with the same girls again a week later and the exact same shit happened. I had to put three of them on the back of my motorcycle to get a handful of clowns to leave us alone.

Having said that, you really need to learn where to draw the line between being too suspicious of strangers and too accommodating of their oddities. There are plenty of decent men and women in India, and you'd do well not to treat them all like potential rapists.

Cover up, make friends with Indian girls, and ask them about life. You'll probably learn a bit about what to do and what not to do, as well as get a good perspective on what life is like for women in developing countries (assuming you haven't already).

Anyway, happy to give you advice on where to go but I need more info. What time of year, what's your budget, do you prefer trains or flying, etc, etc.

India can be a problematic country for women, but the vast majority of female foreign travelers there never get into any serious trouble. Don't stress too much, but don't be a fucking idiot, either.

I remember I saw three or four white girls wearing short-shorts and cut-off shirts walking down the Main Bazar in Paharganj, New Delhi looking TERRIFIED. Would have felt bad for them, but you've honestly got to be beyond fucking stupid to do something like that in Delhi.

Go backpacking in SEA where they have laxed employment laws and work in hostels and bars.

Potentially cruise ship work, though I think as a person who has no real experience in anything that could be hard.

Otherwise if you wanted more long term study hard and become a Pilot, Geologist or Consultant for high paying travel heavy work.

How does that involve travel?
>>
>>1222003

You gotta go find where them ores are buddy.

Its mainly fly in fly out work with like a 2 weeks on and 1 week off. Jobs all around the world that need to be filled, once one project in one location finishes you fly out to the next destination.

Would be the best job if you had any interest into travelling to remote locations or countries you have never heard of before, Pilots and consultants mainly travel around the western world but geologists go everywhere.

Visit Munich. It's popular with tourists, but for a reason. It has a lot to offer. If you're into nature and like to do /out/ stuff as well visit southern bavaria close to the alps. If you're into cars you could visit that famous racetrack (forgot how it's called). I've personally never been to Berlin but I hear it's the best city in Germany overall. Frankfurt is kind of meh, but smaller cities like weissbaden, cologne, koblenz are nice.
Never been to Hamburg either but I hear it's nice.
I'm really into /out/doors stuff so I love southern bavaria. There are many lakes there and the scenery is beautiful.

pic related is just over the border past salzburg on the wolfgangsee. (wolfgang lake) Highly recommend the Germany-Austria border region.

Why are you visiting?
>>
>>1226349
I have no reason for visiting, but I just want to explore, stay with some friends for abit and then backpack around, I heard food is cheap in Germany, does my German need to be execllent or do alot of people spean English?
>>
>>1226366
A lot of people speak English. But don't expect them to understand idioms or hand gestures really.
And if you're looking to hike and stuff, I recommend stopping in Innsbruck Austria. It's a 4 hour drive from Munich.

Make sure to get some Mezzo Mix also, it tastes so good :)
