Been in south america, poland and russia as a solo traveller. It fels so damn boring and empty when you don't go with friends
>just make friends along the way
Yeah sure i will havr the time of my life with a bunch of faggot normies getting wasted every night
>just find something to do that interests you
Nature? The andes feel as exciting as my backyars. History? Who the fuck travels for that? . Culture? Rotting away in a museum or theater may make you feel smart but not entertained in the slightest. Meeting locals? Same problem as with the normie tourists + language gap.
Okay! Let's try something else! Did a weekend trip to a concert of my favorite rock band, and even the concert tasted like shit because i was just stabdinf there like an idiot surrounded by strangers drinking and "having a good time" not understanding a word they said.

So i arrived at the conclusion that travelling alone (and in bad company) sucks. I say it because random trips to the city pool in school were way more fulfilling that feeling important because your passport got stamps and you gutted thousands of dollars in flighrs and hostels.
I tried all i could think of, but seems like it just doesn't work out if you are not the sort of person that is happy to get the experience of getting shitfaced and puking on someone in clubs across the continents.
Funny thing is that i still feel the desire to travel even though I'm going to yet again be disappointed because it's either going alone or not going at all because everyone has a live of their own.
Anyone has had similar experiences? How do you cope with it?

That's entirely your fault for:
a. Not having friends
b. Being incapable of making friends

>So i arrived at the conclusion that travelling alone (and in bad company) sucks
>and in bad company
NO SHIT!
>>
All of the reasons you listed is the big reasons why people travel, culture, history and meeting new people

I am sorry you are unable to enjoy traveling alone but it sounds like you're the problem here mate.
>>
>>just find something to do that interests you
>Nature? The andes feel as exciting as my backyard.
Cool backyard. I live far away from the mountains and the sea, so seeing either on my travels always makes me happy.
>History? Who the fuck travels for that? .
Seeing old shit, especially when it isn't like what we have at home, is something I enjoy.
>Culture? Rotting away in a museum or theater may make you feel smart but not entertained in the slightest.
Your mileage obviously varies from mine, and many others'.
>Meeting locals? Same problem as with the normie tourists + language gap.
Socially capable human beings are able to bridge that gap, and have meaningful interaction with others.

I just think it's you, mate.

why on earth are you moving to south africa as a european?! South African whites are really having a hard time. te government repeatedly calls for whites to have all their shit stolen and the obly real reason they havent is because the boers live in largely isolated societies and are prepared to defend them.

Its a shame because johannesburg was a nice city 20 years ago and south africa is beautiful. I cant imagine visiting now.

California and Florida have the best beaches in the US followed by Texas and Hawaii.

I recommend California because if you come after the start of 2018 you will be able to buy our best product in stores. Fly into San Diego or Monterrey Bay. Also, do not spend any time in SF or LA unless you are seeing a concert or something. Also avoid the Central Valley as there is literally nothing of interest. Yosemite and Sequoia National parks are in the Sierra Nevada mountains and have ample swimming holes and rivers.

If you come to Yosemite, stop in Mariposa and get a Take and Bake Calzone. Best I've ever had.

Well it looks like it's happening. My dad is in Hawaii right now looking at a house he could buy with his crypto monies. Once the dogs rabies shot results come through we could move over there (from California). The spot is not right on the water but you can see the water from some of the pictures, I think its just a few minutes away, and it's also like 20-30 min south of Hilo on the Big Island.

What am I getting into? What's living in Hawaii like?

I used to surf, and longboard everywhere, but I'm disabled now so I won't be able to take advantage of most of the outdoorsy benefits. I hope there's some anime/comics or /tg/ shops or something but I don't hold out much hope for many 4chan posting types to be living there.

I'm from Hawaii. If you're disabled, the Big Island offers nothing for you. Every island outside of Oahu is like living in the boonies — beautiful boonies, but boonies nonetheless. Nothing around but some mcdonalds and some assholes driving big trucks. There may be, like, a gamestop in Hilo, but that's about it.

That sounds like where I live now in the red area pretty much. Haven't left town for more than a few hours in like 3 years, 10,000 total population. I think Silicon Valley is about 30-45min away, and San Francisco the same.

I mean obviously Hilo isn't Silicon Valley but....surely there's something of note there? I guess since I won't be moving around much anyway there can't be that big a change, but I'm hopefully gonna get better at some point so there's that as well.

What's different about Oahu? I can tell my dad that island would be my preference and look at spots there instead. This doesn't sound appealing at all though lol:

I am South African
I have an EU passport
I am a peasant "Working class"

Which EU member country will be the best one for me to immigrate to? I can get a plane ticket there but cannot afford to live there for very long without a job.

My job experience consists of 12 hour shifts of manual labor 12 hours a day so I am not a highly educated person who can get a comfy position.

Any advise is welcomed. I would prefer a country with low crime rate.

ireland has very low unemployment, speaks english, low crime rate outside of the main city.
Otherwise Denmark or the UK would be safe bets.
>>
>>1254221
I have thought about Ireland but I hear they are only recently recovering from a recession and rental prices are very steep.

I am scared to go to UK because of the Brexit ordeal and dont want to have to worry about being kicked out, which is there right. Most of my family moved there but I want a place to make my own.

Will Denmark allow me in, I thought they were only part of the single market but not part of the free travel zone. I also hear they are hostile towards immigrants and a cold people.

I am pretty good with learning languages and am not concerned with language barriers.

I just want a home with an alright job which I can support only myself in and not worry about crime,

It's unlikely you will get anywhere as a labourer that has very little money, most countries have strict laws in regards to accepting permanent residents.

Your best chance is to try and get refugee status somewhere, you might be able to do this by applying in your country or flying to somewhere like Libya and getting a boat across with other migrants.

Also, due to the current refugee crisis in Europe, chances are you will not be very well received by locals wherever you go just because your African (I'm assuming your not a white South African), even if your not one of the Muslim Africans driving the refugee crisis.

I'll soon be traveling to India. I'm a little confused on the prices of these round trip tickets though. Some sites say there is a single charge for these round trip flights *Say $1000*. Others will charge me $1000 for each flight, so $2000 total.

When I go to checkout on the first site will it actually cost me $1000 for both?

I'm not? I've tried different websites and all with the option "round trip". Some charge me for both of the flights at $1000 a piece, others say it's bundled at $1000 total. Am I missing or something what the fuck?

*Info on prostitution*
Please try to refrain from asking questions about prostitution. Japan's sex industry is almost completely inaccessible to foreigners who do not speak Japanese. What is available can generally be found in the following links

*Note about the JR Pass*
Many people ask about whether or not the JR Rail Pass is worth it. It depends on your itinerary.

Plug your itinerary into Hyperdia to determine ticket costs, then compare to the below JR Pass options:
>7 day Pass: 29,110¥
>14 day Pass: 46,390¥
>21 day Pass: 59,350¥

Please check the /trv/ sticky before asking questions. It's filled with links to great resources, many of them specific to Japan travel.

Hey /trv/, so I'm going to be in Los Angeles for part of a day in July. I figure I'll have about 8-10 hours to kill and I've never been to LA or even California in general, so how do I make the most out of my very limited time in the city? I'm assuming like every city some of the cliché touristy locations are actually worth seeing and some others probably aren't worth the time since I don't have much, what are the must see spots in your opinion?

I'll also have a rental car at my disposal but I've heard the traffic in LA is no joke. Would I be better served finding a place to park the car and taking public transport/Uber around instead?

Uber is fucking expensive in LA.

I say you should visit the area by Union Station. You have easy access to Chinatown and Olvera Street.
From here, the rest of the downtown area is relatively close as well. Some examples of downtown visits at the top of my head: Little Tokyo, The Art District, The Last Bookstore, Grand Central Market, etc. Do some research for the downtown area.

If youre into art museums, you could easily spend a lot of time at LACMA. Theres also The Broad and The Getty to check out.

Otherwise, you could visit Hollywood. I'm personally not into Hollywood. But if you're into it, check out the walk of fame and shit around the chinese theatre.
Griffith Park is also worth a visit. Particularly the Observatory which is especially worth the visit at night.

I hope this helped
>>
>>1252473
Awesome, thanks for the suggestions! I'll definitely look into those ideas.

Just how expensive is a typical Uber ride in LA though? I know the rates change during the day and what not, but I've used Uber a ton in DC and Boston and almost never pay more than like $10/ride anywhere. I guess I didn't realize the rates where that different in some cities.
>>
>>1252550
Traffic is annoying, but public transportation is utter trash and will take 3x longer than car. If you're really curious about Uber, just get a location spoofing app or look up an Uber fare calculator. There's no way to tell you a general ballpark because LA is very spread out.
Uber > car >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> public transport > walking

I have no idea what you like but some ideas:
>The Getty
Beautiful museum with traditional European art, also a great view of LA and scenery in general. I definitely recommend it over LACMA, with respect to previous anon. It's free, but you have to pay for parking if driving there
>Griffith Observatory
High up in the hills with yes, a beautiful view of LA at night. Also free! Parking is a bit of a pain but it'd also be free.

I dunno Anon, those are the best ways to see LA. But what do you like to do? That's important info.

I'm planning a trip to Las Vegas, coming out of Southern California, and I'm asking around for what I should do/go see. I'm not really the most rich guy around but I'm very satisfied with kitschy or off-the-beaten-trail type stuff.
For example I know there's a ghost hunt in a near by town and some animatronic prospectors on the way there from Southern California, and I know there's some fun nerd themed bars and horror themed bars in Las Vegas, along with some a cool arcade.

But I need a lot more to fill up my time. Anything you guys know of, little or big, that I woulndn't already be able to find in the more basic searches. Everyone knows about the Luxor and the big apple rollercoaster, so I'm just curious if you guys know of fun or interesting stuff do in or around Las Vegas.

I don't know exactly what you're asking for with "off-the-beaten-trail", but I would recommend Red Rock Canyon as an alternative to the gambling and nightlife. Plenty of seeing and hiking to be done. The admission fee is $3. It's not the greatest scenery in the west, but it's probably the best you're getting in southern Nevada.

We're thinking we'd like to visit these:
Start trip in Poland
Slovakia
Hungary
Slovenia
End trip in Italy.

As we don't really have any idea if there's anything to do, I'd take any suggestions with open arms.

Dazzle me, and just write if you have questions. We're both from Denmark, and we're going to use an interrail ticket which allows us to travel in most of Europe with train.
