Trips decide my next destination!
No limitations, but harder locations require more preperations (so it will take longer for me to get there).
I have no inspiration for my next travels. I'm not looking for something to dangerous (but I'm open to a lot), or to inaccesible but I'll leave everything to you guys.
>will refer to this post and provide pictures in a year
PS: i don't know if this type of request belongs in /trv/ but I think this community would be the best to ask.

>>1255658
Bump.
I'm thinking of going into northern Azerbaijan via the Georgia border, can't really find much on the net as it's not a very well travelled area. Would like to know if there's any must sees etc.
Hey everyone, my girlfriend and I are traveling to Lima this June to do some volunteer work and we're taking a week and a half afterwards to explore the country a bit.
Does anybody know of some must-sees while in Lima? Or some interesting things to do?
>>1255117
Bump, I'm going here in October. Wouldn't mind some useful info.

Hey /Trv/ I'm planning a trip to Ukraine, Russia and Japan next January, any reccomendations on what to see/do. Will be starting in Kiev, Chernobyl, st Petersburg, Moscow, trans Siberian to Vladivostok, ferry to Japan.
do you speak russian?
No but I will learn Cyrillic and basic Russian before I go
>>1254711
You might get shit from the Russian border guards if they see that you went to Ukraine and vice versa
Hey /trv/, at the moment I'm planning a trip to Sudan and Ethiopia in September. I used google to get some general information and looked at all the threats on this board, but i'm still not quite sure about a few things so i decided to ask the question(s) here;
- Is there anyone who have been to Sudan recently? I would love to hear your experience. I was only able to find travel reports from a few years back (not sure if anything has changed in recent years).
- Is the current drought in Africa something that should be taken into consideration?
Hey, I'm probably going to Ethiopia next year, and was wondering what makes you want to go to Sudan as well?
I find it quite hard to assess the safety of going there - do you know anything?
Mostly because of the lack of major tourism I guess, so I hope to meet locals who are proud to show their culture and country to you; not only trying to rip you off. Read some pretty good travel stories about how friendly the people are. In addition I think it’s also still a bit of an adventure to go there; visiting places most people don’t go. Nubian pyramids should be interesting and maybe some diving in the red sea.
In regard to the safety issues, I checked the travel advice of the Dutch ministry of foreign affairs and the foreign travel advice of the UK. Nothing special so I guess it’s safe to visit, as long you behave normally. Only thing I’m not sure of is how the situation is this year with the drought.
Ethiopia should be pretty cool; impressive nature.

Thanks for the answer. It does seem intriguing and cheap as well. I want to add another African country besides Ethiopia, but I realized how (relatively) expensive it is travelling in many African countries. Sudan seems like a good option
With regards to safety, I was really just trying to understand whether it's a real traveller destination that doesn't actually hold much danger when you stay out of certain areas, or whether it's more of an extreme traveller destination like Pakistan or DRC
Anyone ever been here? How was is?
It was really nice

I'll be traveling to Paris on 31 July and i'll be staying until 30 august.
Need brotips on how to enjoy and survive there with € 1500.
I'll be going alone
If accomodation is not already taken of, 1500€ is too low. There are shit loads of fun stuff to do in paris. What are you interested in
>>1257298
Historical tourism, Night life, Cultural knowledge and travel to countries around France
I do plan to stay in a hostel and buy food from supermarket
>>1257300
that's a bit low to have a good time
I'm going to be studying abroad in Florence for a month and living in the hostiles at the university there, I leave in a little more than 2 weeks.
Never left the country before and don't speak a lick of Italian, and I'll be travelling alone. I'm not really all that worried about it because I'm competent when it comes to thinking on the fly but some general info about Florence in general would be nice, i.e. cheap food, clubs, is the language barrier that bad, etc.
By which means of transport are you going to move?
>he goes to the city of Dante and doesn't know a lick of Italian
>>1256846
Flying into Rome then taking the train that's in the same airport to Florence, the university is a 10 minute walk from the station
Where do American people go to vacation?
French people stay a lot in France because we don't speak very well foreign languages. Spain is the main touristic destination of French people outside of France, in summer you can hear French everywhere in Catalonia. We also go a lot to Italy, Greece, Portugal, UK, mostly London, we also used to go to Morocco and Tunisia before the Arab spring, many French people have been at least once in the USA too.
Our main tourists come from the British islands and Benelux. In the French Southwest you can see campings with almost exclusively Dutch people.
>>1256316
I forgot Amsterdam which is a main touristic destination of French people too.

From my region (northeast): Florida, Mexican resorts and Caribbean islands.
Americans don't have a lot of vacation time like Europeans do so we go local.
Here in Maryland, people go to Ocean City, Rehoboth Beach in Delaware, or the Outer Banks in North Carolina where they have summer houses. For the rest of the country, it's usually the nearest beach, the nearest lake, renting cabins in the mountains, Florida because of DisneyWorld and Universal and Miami---and then we have a bunch of national parks. The nearest one to me is Shenandoah, Smoky Mts. and Acadia in Maine.
Abroad, we usually go on cruise ships to the Bahamas and Cancun, Mexico. Not really Cuba, but that's becoming popular now that Obama opened it up again. Also Baja California if you're on the West Coast. For Canada we usually go to Québec City because it's "different" or British Columbia and Alberta because of the natural beauty. We also like to take cruises to Alaska too.
Everywhere else, it's pretty generic. Any touristy major city there are going to be Americans, but we don't backpack as much as Europeans. Mostly just stick to muh hotels and muh resorts and find the nearest McDonald's. It sounds like a meme, but seriously we do go to McDonald's in other countries. Some as a joke, but most retards actually go there unironically because they complain a lot about local food. It's sad.
Digital nomad moving overseas with my partner, also a digital nomad. I want budapest, she wants berlin. Can /trv/ please mediate this dispute? We'll be staying in one spot for at least six months, probably closer to a year.
Cons I have heard:
>Berlin
- Too many expats already, feels like you're just moving to another anodyne 'global' city.
- A lot of self-consciously 'creative' people.
- Expensive.
>Budapest
- Not enough stuff to do.
- A bit far away.
- Strong language barrier.
Where would /trv/ rather live?
>with my partner
whats the point
>>1255998
There's a shitload of stuff to do in Budapest imo.
I'm not a digital nomad, but it seems to me that minimizing cost of living should take priority, so Budapest is the clear choice.
Or came close to fucking up abroad
>Be me and freshfaced 19yr old
>In Japan but catching flight back to the UK
>Flight flying back home from Tokyo Narita, think everything is fine
>Board the flight fine arrive in Tokyo
>Sit down in the waiting room before my next flight, check my last bit of battary with spotty wifi
>haha funny memes on /trv/
>Check my tickets
>*PANIC*
>Realise my flight from Osaka arrives at Tokyo Haneda instead and that Haneda and Narita are two different airports
>I have four hours to change and I've been sitting here for 90mins in the wrong fucking airport
>Google the fastest train to Narita with the little battery I have left
>phone dies but end up on train to Narita arriving just as the gates opened for my plane
this was also after being effectively 4 days homeless, I thought I could wing it at a manga cafe or something (all hostels and hotels were fully booked in Osaka, new years). Ended up sleeping in McDicks and showering at a friends hostel he gave me the password for
live and learn I guess

Hey /trv/
I'm travelling to the US for the first time on Thursday (San Fran, San Diego , Vegas and NYC) and I can't help but feel extremely paranoid about getting mugged. Especially in NYC.
I've never been robbed before but I just have a feeling. Any tips on how to avoid ?
Would like to hear of any of /trv/s stories/ experiences.
>muggings general
>>1246132
>I just have a feeling
That's stupid and irrational.
>Any tips on how to avoid?
Don't find yourself in the darkness alone. That's really all.
>>1246132
Iv'e been to all those cities and lived in SF for a while, never been mugged.
Here is America's official guide to not getting mugged in America:
1. Don't trust brown people
2. REALLY don't trust brown people if you are brown. They believe that if you are one of them you are less likely to call the police.
>>1246138
Lmao I'm going over with my gf who's mixed race so should be a laugh
I'm gonna come back from a trip to Japan on Tuesday and I have a doujin that can be considered shota.
Am I liable to be in any legal hot water?
Should I keep it in my carry on or cargo?
Which country are you returning to? The US? Canada? Australia? Chad?
>>1257820
A good rule of thumb is to assume anyone self-centered enough to not mention their home country when it's relevant to the topic is an Americlap.
Will you scan it?
When using websites such as couchsurfing
What do hosts even get out of letting some random bum stranger sleep on their couch for free.
This confuses me...

Company and meeting people from all over the world. Not everyone is a 4chan autist afraid of other people.

I don't want to hang out with them though..
Most people are boring.
Can I just sleep on their couch, use their shower and try ignore them?
>>1256718
I mean you could, but you'd be kind of a dick.
