I fly to Europe this summer to a country but have a 6 hour layover in Berlin. What can I accomplish in this time?
>>1258619
Get culturally enriched by peaceful Muslims
But seriously, grab a beer and a pork shoulder at a beer hall, that's some good shit
>>1258619
Which nationality and which airport? Tegel?
6h is not much. Be aware you have to get beack in time + you have to go though security again, because you left transit.
>>1258619
>6 hours
>What can I accomplish in this time?
You could miss your flight then buy an additional ticket.
What are the requirements to become Mr. Worldwide?
>speak 10 languages fluent?
>been to every country?
>fucked a girl from every continent?
>make crappy music and give yourself a dog name?
Please give me answers, I want to become the next Mr. Worldwide.
Uno, do, tre
DALE
>>1258614
Let's see
Me:
>speak 3 languages fluently (plus 1 decently)
>been to 45 countries
>fucked a girl from every continent
>Not a music Guy
Am I Mr. Worldwide now?
>>1258629
Speaking three languages is normal in Europe, lol.
Sup /trv/,
Michigan is one of the last 10 states in the U.S. that I have yet to visit. What are some good towns/cities/locations to visit, and what are the best national parks to hike around in? Is it safe to swim in the lakes around there?
>>1257854
Also, thought I might add that I'll be driving up there from the south, and plan on staying there over the 4th of July weekend.
>>1257854
Nothing special here, just go for a dip in the lakes and leave. Maybe check out the slums of detroit while you're there though be careful
Go up north to Makinaw or Traverse City
I'll be going to Venezuela for 9 days in July, any tips from people who have been there?
Will be in Cumana and Santa Margarita, any other places I should visit?
>>1257301
Do you know what you're getting into? Have you planned everything?
>going to a 4th world country

How long can you check luggage at a hotel without them giving you shit or risk someone stealing your stuff? Would 20 hours be pushing it?
I want to fly into Vegas around 8:00 P.M. Friday, check the luggage in at the hotel without getting a room, hit up the casinos/buffets/strip clubs until my room would be available at 3 P.M. Saturday. Sleep, shower, hit up some more clubs, check out Sunday morning around noon and leave my luggage at the hotel until 8 P.M. or so and fly out. So I'd only have to pay for one day over 3 days.
I'm pretty sure leaving it Sunday will be ok but am freaking out it won't work for so long Friday night and I'll lose all my shit and ruin the weekend.
>>1256983
>Would 20 hours be pushing it?
No
>Friday, check the luggage in at the hotel without getting a room,
HAHAHAHHAHA good fucking luck, you MIGHT be able to get away with it by going "oh shit I booked through X and put in the wrong date" but that is unlikely. No one will take your bag without a room reserved because it is a huge security and insurance risk
>until my room would be available at 3 P.M.
I'd be more worried about getting mugged or gutted than anything if you are trying to stay up 19 hours partying
>>1256986
Well, it would be closer to two days partying since I would work that Friday before leaving. I've been to Vegas before and coming from the East Coast with the time change and adrenaline of being there you kind of lose track of time, and walk out of a strip club at 8 a.m. thinking it's still midnight.
Are you sure it wouldn't work? When I checked stuff for a few hours before they didn't ask for any proof I was even staying at the hotel, so that's what gave me the idea. I mean dropping a few hundred on an extra night isn't the end of the world but that could be money spent towards a bottle Saturday or gambling rather than 5 hours of shitty sleep and would amplify the hype of the trip.
>>1256983
I have checked luggage the same day. Situation like changed hotels, which means checking out of one by 11, and left my luggage at the new hotel until it was ready.
You can store your bags here in Vegas.

So I wanna go to the Philippines. What should I know? Where should I stay?
Im thinking Palawan. My budget is $4000-7500USD including return flight, and I want to stay for as long as possible.
I eat pretty basic meals and am comfortable in simple accommodations (bed, shower, power, maybe internet). Where should I stay?
Just trying to accumulate as much information as possible.
Thanks

There are some places close to El Nido that might be good for you. I wouldn't stay in El Nido itself more than a few days (to do the tours), the insanely fast growth has made it a bit shitty. But the whole region is amazing and there are more remote places around that you can stay.
Check out Tao Philippines actually. You can fly into Coron, then take the Tao trip for 4-5 nights down to El Nido for maybe 500USD. I travelled around the world for 1.5 years and that was hands-down the best week of my time, it's seriously amazing.
Also, the women are ugly in Palawan, spend time in Manila or Cebu (the latter is cheaper I think) taking advantage of the insane filipina thirst for white cock.
Oh, and boracay isn't great. It's the place you go if you want to party with drunk western backpackers like you would in Thailand. If you don't care about that, there are lots of other cooler places to go.
you should probably wait until Duterte kills all the isis sandniggers and drug dealers. It'l be a lot nicer then.

*Info on prostitution*
Please try to refrain from asking questions about prostitution.
Japan's sex industry is almost completely inaccessible to foreigners who do not speak Japanese.
What is available can generally be found in the following links

*Note about the JR Pass*
Many people ask about whether or not the JR Rail Pass is worth it. It depends on your itinerary.
Plug your itinerary into Hyperdia to determine ticket costs, then compare to the below JR Pass options:
>7 day Pass: 29,110¥
>14 day Pass: 46,390¥
>21 day Pass: 59,350¥
Please check the /trv/ sticky before asking questions. It's filled with links to great resources, many of them specific to Japan travel.

Yes, at any major station you should be able to purchase a new one at a recharge/ticket machine.

So memes aside, how is Kyoto actually? I have wanted to go there for as long as I can remember, I know it will be crowded and full of tourists, but that unfortunate but inescapable fact aside, how did those of you who have been there like it?
>>1256895
Kyoto is nice.
i finally finished my studies and have gathered enough money to go out for a while and explore the world. I'm planning to go alone and i want to go to scenic and beuatiful places across the world. But i'm still scared to go to places like india or egypt and turkey because of the fact that all the people around me keep telling me i'll just get raped and dumped by a ditch somewhere.
Does anyone maybe have some tips on travelling as a woman or recommendations on where to go/stay? Thank you! ^.^
Women only travel to get fucked by foreigners anyway so what's the problem
>>1256635
> ^.^
Some tips:
Some countries are worse than others, places like Egypt, Morocco and Turkey aren't very safe for a solo woman, but many places are completely fine. Just look it up in google and see what other travellers have said about it, there will have been many people gone to places before you and happy to give information. Certain cultures are better than others, best not to generalise though.
Most countries will have female only dorms, this gives you a safe and cheap sleeping environment while also being somewhat social.
Hitchiking in general isn't a common thing around the world, many countries have different customs about it, some places people will happily pick you up but expect a fare for the travel, in some countries people will never pick up hitchhikers etc... Hitchiking is almost always one of the more dangerous ways to travel, maybe its good for a journey or two that you cant find any other route for, but even as a male I don't like to hitchike much just because there is a much higher likelihood that some wackjob will pick you up. (That being said, many people here have hitchiked across long distances solo and never had any trouble, but I personally wouldn't take the chance).
Make a group of friends at a hostel and try and travel with them for a bit, travelling in groups (even if your all female) is far safer than travelling solo.
>Does anyone maybe have some tips on travelling as a woman or recommendations on where to go/stay?
I'd give you some recommendations if you want, although I'm no girl I do have lots of travel experience. What were you thinking about? Somewhere western, somewhere with lots of backpackers, somewhere cheap, somewhere remote, somewhere very adventurous?
What's the worst "culture shock" you ever experienced? Have you ever gotten it when you returned home due to being abroad for too long?
Probably when I visited Dubai for the first time. I kept being told at the time how it was the richest place in the world with the most advanced everything. So I had high expectations.
Turns out I dislike Arabs.
When I went to India. I have been to many shitholes and am used to them, but India was just another level of shithole.
>>1239415
Dubai is a legit shithole though, and the people are scum, so I can see where you're coming rom
How does a tourist actually get to Antarctica.
>>1258052
>How does a tourist actually get to Antarctica.
$$$$$
You take a cruise, which after it crosses the Drake Passage (vomit passage) circumnavigates the Antarctica peninsula for wildlife and glacier watching, and finally you'll zodiac it over to walk on it. That's about it. It's very expensive for good reason. You'll likely be on a boat with a couple sciencey types who are good company, wealthy retired couples esp sailing enthusiasts, and photographers.
http://www.cruisecritic.com/articles.cfm?ID=1327
There's a few extra things you can do, like overnight at a base for $13k, for the night. Yea, bucket list only.
http://www.cruisecritic.com/articles.cfm?ID=1722
>>1258055
Not-OP/different Anon here.
Based on the limited research I've done, and the very rough calculations, the cost of a trip to Antarctica is very similar to a trip to Bhutan.
To me, the cruise & the walk-around would be more than worth it to me. Just being able to step foot on Antarctica & seeing some penguins is more than enough for me.
Can you actually hike to the south pole?
So I'm 19yo australian female, planning on hitchhiking (me and another chick) from Spain to Switzerland then on to Germany maybe in august. I have about 1000 pounds. I plan on sleeping outside some of the time, and the rest in hostels. How long can I travel for 1000 pounds? Will I make it a month on that? I know how quickly money can go, I'm 4 months into my travels now.
Any tips on outdoor sleeping? I'm familiar with camping ofc, but I'll just be using a bag and a tarp and sleeping in semi rural areas illegally. Pls don't post a pic of that black German rapist guy.
That would maybe last you a month, at most two, depending on how much you cheap it out. In Scandinavian countries you can sleep anywhere legally outdoors, in others it's more iffy. Shouldn't you consider couchsurfing though? It sounds very much like what you would need.
Lastly I hope you don't mean you have been 4 months in Europe already. If you try to overstay your 90 days inside Schengen you will have potentially very troublesome consequences.
>>1257994
I'm a British citizen so no worries there. I've been in the UK 3 months and France 1 month. Interesting about Scandinavia, sounds like an ideal place to travel if it weren't for all the immigrants.
I budget about 6 to 8 euro per day when I'm hitchhiking/camping in Europe, and that includes a pint at the end of the day.
Of course it can be draining living on that little, so you'll want to splurge once in a while.
Hey /trv/,
I have nothing to do for the month of august and most of my friends will all be away doing other shit and I don't want to just be at home bored. So I'm thinking about spending 7-10 days in the dominican republic. My interests are scuba, nature, architecture, food, drinks, whores, and maybe a little golf if I decide to bring my clubs.
Flights look affordable, there are some nice looking airbnbs for reasonable rates, and the scuba looks like it will be good in august. Any advice from anons who've been to the DR? Things worth doing/not worth doing, etc?
>>1257963
i spent a summer in santo domingo once and have been to punta cana a few times. punta cana will have golf/scuba and shit, it's just a bunch of all inclusive resorts and whatnot like most other carribean spots. santo domingo can be dicey if you dont know anyone and i doubt theres enough shit to do for more than a couple days but make sure you check out the crazy cross-shaped museum trujillo built and the old town which i believe is the oldest in the americas. i always thought port au prince might be interesting if you wanted to get adventurous. im sure there are lest touristy beach spots than punta cana some other anon can recommend. buy the sugar cane and chew on it and try the fruits they sell called lemoncitos
>>1257968
>santo domingo can be dicey if you dont know anyone
Would I be ok walking around local markets/downtown areas by myself in the day? I don't want to spend the whole trip stuck in a gated resort, I like wandering around. (mid 20s, white, basic spanish)
>>1257975
yeah youd definitely be fine in the touristy areas. apparently theyre spelled lemoncillo and called spanish limes here. if that's what you want to do you should see if there's a beach place closer to santo domingo than punta cana
Who else here lies about their thoughts and beliefs to get laid whilst travelling. I was sitting in a dorm room in cambo and the conversation went like this
>Random German: I hate ze fucking tuk tuks zey are very rude shouting all ze fucking time
>Me: hold on I don't think that's fair, tuk tuk drivers are only trying to make money for their families and blah blah blah colonialism
>Hot girl: omg you're so right!1!
In reality I hate tuk tuk drivers and I hope that uber drives them all into the gutter.
>>1257756
man everyone hates tuk-tuk drivers
I was at a border a few days ago and they wanted 10x a fair rate, and wouldn't budge a goddamn cent as they were he only option for transport (funny that)
they were charging Chinese 50x the going rate too, racist cunts
I walked 8km with my bags just to spite them, figure they just keep going up and up until someone decides to walk
and the vermin harass you as well, especially in vietnam
sometimes they even try to obstruct your path; and commonly they just grab your bag and take it to their ride
the frequency tuk tuk steal bags is such that anyone who tries it with me gets winded, two weeks ago in Phnom pehn I saw some tourists at night load their bags onto a tuk tuk for him to just take off without them
gas them all
>>1257756
I try to lie both abroad and at home, but I just can't.
You can get laid easily if you pretend that you're interested in everything she is passionate about. Nothing drops panties quicker than just agreeing.
But I'm old. I've had plenty of good lays, not tortured by that why must I still be a virgin feel. I tend to attract girls with vastly different opinions than me on everything, the things I'd have to agree with to charm them are painful to say, and so I just don't think it's worth it anymore. I prefer whores now to be honest.
what is the big appeal of SEA? i picture a bunch of fat dutch men fucking 12 yr olds
Has anyone on /trv been to Yemen? I am interested in the history and culture of Sana'a. Is it safe to go to yet?
its in a war right now
socotra is supposedly safe. Don't know if you can go without passing through other parts of yemen tho

what is the houthi stance on tourists from obscure balkan nations
I'm leaving the US for fourth of July weekend. Help me decide where I should go. I have three days and have never been to any of the cities listed below. Unfortunately, selection is limited to this list.
Edinburgh
Barcelona
Zurich
Paris
Rome
Milan
Buenos Aires
Sao Paolo
Rio de Janiero
Also, I'll be traveling alone. I won't know what to do with myself if I go to a club alone, so social interaction will only happen if I get lucky on tinder or something. Mainly interested in walking around the city, enjoying the architecture, people watching, maybe a museum, and trying good affordable food.

So you're likely departing from NYC or Miami right?
3day, 20h flight time total, half day to recover from the jetlag unless you can afford business... that's a full day at the location to actually do stuff...
Honestly that narrows it down to Edinburgh or Zurich as they can be done in a day but neither of them are very affordable.
