Question is there anything redeeming about the new setting at all? I haven't actually taken the time to catch up on the new story, but we just had another big nostalgia thread in /tg/ about Bionicle.
The pictures on the back of the boxes haven't been giving me much optimism about it honestly.
There isn't the same level of intrigue and mystery as the first few years of G1 but it's decent. It's actually fairly similar in some ways. I'd say it isn't any better or worse but just different.
I think you should wait for The Journey to one Netflix original and see how it is, so far the new bonkle has been lacking in media exposure.
>Wave one: spiders
>Wave two: skeletons
>Wave three: wild animals and bandits
>Wave four: subterranean trolls and orcs
He was right all along
The only real problem is that 2015 barely delivered any story content. The few pieces of media that did have notable worldbuilding did an excellent job and there's still lots of untapped potential, so it should continue getting better with every piece of content we get this year.
Basically, "No mention of any actual lore/setting, your character can't be a Toa, If it's based on a MOC that MOC can't exceed a certain piece-limit, and of course you know the exception to all of these rules."
The story and setting are actually pretty good, unfortunatly last year they decided to have the only storytelling material for most of the year be these shitty 90 seconds animations which had awkward pacing due to their short run time.
If one ignores those and reads between the lines a bit to see the stuff that the story team actually put together versus how it was presented to us, you see a pretty cool setting. Basically instead of villages in different regions like 2001's island, you have an island that was originally just all the same biome and the villagers all lived in cities be it the capital city or the city of the mask makers, the capital ended up being turned into a crater after the great cataclysm caused by Ekimu and Makuta's battle (this cataclysm also fucked with the island itself, causing the six elements to basically manifest themselves and completely change most of the island except for a single corner which happened to be protected from the shockwave by the mountain in the middle of the island), and the city of the mask makers was later abandoned due to an invasion by monsters.
Also way before that you had six avatars of the island's elements come into being in the form of what are basically ancient / wise dragons but in the forms of a bug-like creature, shark-like creature, etc. and a being born the shadows at around the same time who's sole purpose is hunting them down.
The villages the villagers eventually moved to havent been covered too much because there are multiple villages in each elemental region so they never bothered going into detail about all of them and the villagers eventually end up moving back to the city of the mask makers anyway.
The main weakness of the setting versus G1s is the lack of terms for everything like in G1, basically everything that was in "matoran language" is just said in english now, so 'Kanohi' is just mask, "Wahi" is just region, and so on.
Anyone here need manuals? Figured I should at least ask before I throw these away, since I have some spare sets.
Pay for the shipping (3,30€ for Europe and 4,60€ for everywhere else) and they're yours.
Finally got some snow that didn't vanish overnight.
I have no idea. Just pointed out that the post was a bit out of place.
If you(was it yours?) were asking specifically bonkle-anons, that's a-okay by me(not that i decide anything, tho)
It will probably be worth it in the end, I've had the Bahrag since 02 and have always liked them, their only problem is the over-reliance on elastic bands and those green ones always snapped for me, I need to get more eventually.
>this year has a simpler storyline as kids were getting confused. will come with 4x 22min netflix movies.
From what we've seen the story is a bit better than last years, not simper. Perhaps they meant something more along the lines of 'straightforward', since last years story was confusing in how poorly presented it was for most of the year. (Unless they meant in comparison to G1)
I sure hope the comparison was with G1. Even if the media representation was a bit messy, I don't see anything in the 2015 storyline that could confuse kids to the point where Lego immediately decide they need to cut back on the complexity.
Well, part of the reason I started this is that Bahrag are one of the 5 sets I'm still missing from complete 02 collection (rest are Pahrak Va, Nuhvok Va, Tahnok Va and Power pack), and while everything else is in my parts bin as a fucking mess, it's the thought that counts.
And I am planning on replacing the rubber bands with generic ones if I ever make it that far
Exactly. And no one knows if it'll be cheaper. Generally stuff like this is cheaper to part out, but it really depends on many things.
And because totally no one asked, here's what I have so far.
I feel like they were probably going over their whole G2 gameplan and the person who wrote the article linked there just sort of interpreted that way, remember what we know of the story this year versus last year:
>Toa get summoned
>Toa find golden masks
>Toa get to city entrance and beat up LoSS
>Toa go into city and beat up skeletons
>Toa wake up Ekimu and beat the big bad skeleton
2016 (from what we've seen)
>Toa get upgraded and go find the elemental creatures
>Creatures tell them they hid the mask of control in a labyrinth on an island
>Toa go there and find Umarak, a being as ancient as the creatures who wants to hunt them
>Umarak gets mask of control and eventually puts it on
>Umarak turns into some sort of huge monster
Even without all the information I would hardly call the 2016 story 'simpler' than the 2015, more straightforward perhaps.
What is a good piece of information is that now we know for a fact that the series is four 22 minute long episodes
What all parts are you still missing there? I don't see the blue and red +oo+ pieces, nor the white technic axles and half axle half pin pieces, nor the ribbed hose piece or the round piece the eyes go on, is there a reason you are having difficulty parting these together?
>is there a reason you are having difficulty parting these together?
Simple. I just went to biggest store on the country and got everything I could scrape together. But as of now, the project is on hold before I get some more money. Other stuff I'm missing is more or less the hinge-pieces on the legs, some Technic bits and bobs, Pahrak-shields from the feet, antennae for the both, every single gear, every hose (some of those are surprisingly rare), one red Bohrok half and the white Technic parts for the teeth. Again, not so common.
And yes, I am ready to order internationally.
London Toy Fair
>no photos, descriptions at best
New Yourk Toy Fair
I just want good 2016 pictures ASAP to stop some of the shitposting. I personally like all the beasts and feel like all the disappointment in the 2016 summer sets stems from Umarak, who we were looking forward to the most. If the actual model for Umarak proves to look really good and the iffy-looking prelim was simply a matter of poor posing or CGI errors, then I feel like people will warm up to the summer sets pretty fast.
We still wont be getting the sets for several months, so its not like the images do much harm. If anything it's nice to know what sort of monsters the uniter sets you purchase will be fighting.
Never would've I thought that I would be glad that only Creatures come with Shadow Traps.
I did some cleaning and digged up a bucketful of Skull Spiders I just don't have room or will to display them.
see I really don't get the hate on the beasts, it's not like the skeletons where exposed ball joints on both the torso (which was a terrible inexcusable flaw that plagued all the 2015 sets but whatever) and on the limbs, and then there was scorpio who was just a weird set.
The beasts have consistent color schemes (a splash of trans-neon green here or there but its not as jarring as the trans-orange on the skull villains), cool head designs, and varied and cool silhouettes, Lava beast looks like some kind of imp or demon with his short legs but scary looking head, Quake beast looks intimidating with his bulky frame and especially bulky crystal arm, and Storm beast has an awesome lean look with terrifying looking claws. The shadow traps sticking out of them in places also gives them a strange, very evil feel.
Anyone try making one of these guys in the same scale as grievous? I feel Rey's cloth pieces would be useful for them
>Making Stringer MOC
>Function makes no sense on stringer
>Make a dark blue skull guy
I know it's fairly simple but I wanted to keep it skull villain. The arms swing up and down in the same direction.
And the function. It's basically a switch but I like how I built it. What do you guys think?
god I love how tight the new masks are, you can actually move the Toa's heads by the mask if you want, you dont have to pinch your fingers onto an exposed part of the head and carefully move it, you can just grab the head anywhere and turn it as you will, its so much nicer.
>Beasts come with corrupt versions of Tahu, Onua and Kopaka's masks
>it's almost entirely possible to make 'corrupt' versions of these Toa AND their beasts using Umarak's colour scheme, minus a couple of pieces (such as no 3L shells in Trans Br. Green)
I sure know what I'll be MOCing this summer
There is nothing wrong with asymmetry. Only Lava beast has shitty legs, Gunmetal isnt bad, trans lightblue, and trans blue with trans bright green accents isnt that bad, Gali pulled it off with worse colors in 2015.
What even are you talking about new shell color?
This. There's 0% chance of the story being simpler seeing as the animations added up to 30mins. While JtO is 88mins total. And the fact that we know we have another graphic novel and two more books coming.
I can understand why kids got confused since 2015 was a clusterfuck in terms of media.
So if the Six Critters were born from elemental essence around the same time as Umarak, does this mean that Shadow is the "Seventh element?"
IS UMARAK THIS GEN'S VERSION OF TAKANUVA?!
While Shadow seems to be more than just another element, I can actually see "Toa Umarak" happening in a way. The enemy for 2017 might very well be Makuta, and Umarak's probably going to be mighty cheesed at the guy who forced him to wear an evil mutating mask.
All lined up like that they look like a cool wave
See Umarak the Destroyer is actually a pretty tall, very humanoid looking guy, I've seen people make pretty legit mock-ups of it, its just that the pose in that boxart is absolute garbage.
See, Storm beast is my favorite one so clearly there is some subjectivity to it.
Ikir's cool but the open ball joints are kind of obnoxious on him and there isnt a whole lot of ways you can pose him.
Uxar's really cool and has a very sleek design, but his wingtips are hard to keep organized since they are connected by blue pins, and his wingspan is so huge its hard to fit on a shelf.
Terak is cool looking and has neat colors but his function is really lame
Melum is basically a worse-looking Terak but with a much better function
Akida is a really cool creature who feels way larger and more substantial than all the others despite being considerably smaller in terms of surface area than Uxar, the guns are kind of weird and there isnt a WHOLE lot of ways you can pose a fish, but the set is really good
Ketar is a mess, but has a certain sort of underdog charm to him
+ masks made with the new mold stay on heads without assistance
+ when heated, the mold produces masks with crisper detail than masks cured at room temp
+ I made sure to brush all the little debris off this time when making the mold, so detail is perfect
- the working time of the solid resin that I have causes it to begin to solidify before I can finish pouring
(maybe this can be solved by mixing equal concentrations of it and the transparent resin - result would still be fully opaque, but maybe take longer to solidify)
- Regardless of whether or not I'm fully covered and wearing a breathing mask, it seems I can't avoid getting some kind of allergic skin reaction when working with this stuff, but I have proper stuff to treat it
And I forgot the picture, fucking hell.
I've got a setup where fans blow the fumes into the ventilation system in my bathroom, which seems to be working alright... I haven't been having issues like before now that I'm fully protected, but maybe I should lay off until the current rashes (leftovers from before that are nearly diminished) clear. I have noticed that being near fumes when they are uncovered makes them tingle...
Damn weather doesn't let me do this outside... the cold doesn't help the curing at all. Though maybe that would increase the cure time so I could get the mask filled... no wind though...
Like, they're dicks and all, but why start shit unnecessarily?
Plus it wouldn't exactly help /biog/'s reputation in the community at large. You know that bzp members browse the shit out of /biog/.
What did you guys think of last years lesser known skelly-combiner?
My best guess is that it has something to do with the prototypes and concept sketches that indeed had multiple heads but even then that was mostly Kulta and not the other skellies.
>honestly, they are really just more of the same. Four were standard sized figures each with little to distinguish them from others except for a new spiky armour piece that looks like a molar tooth and several components in trans-light blue. The larger Umarak the Destroyer is not much different to his current Hunter incarnation except for a darker colour scheme and a new jaw element.
What the fuck, couldn't he even tell the colors of them.
How autistic these guys are.Yyou don't need to be an expert to determine if something is red or blue for fucks sake.
what if a colorblind guy is in charge of writing these for some reason
>the storyline is being simplified to avoid confusing youngsters.
Jesus christ, Lego, this shit doesn't need to be game of thrones, just do what you did for the first few years of G1 before GregF had total control and you'll be golden.
Anons here have already pointed out that by "simpler", they probably meant more " straightforward". Since 2015's media was a clusterfuck with three retellings of the same story with different shit added.
From the comments regarding UTD:
>It was a bit of a patchwork really but I think the figure consisted primarily of dark brown, reddish brown and trans-light blue elements. The lower jaw was pearl dark grey.
>trans-light blue element
well here's hoping they fire up those 3d printers and fix shit by the time February rolls aro--
...what if the reason they haven't officially announced JTO's release date is that they're waiting for the summer wave to be revealed?
colorblind guy here, >>5431755 does not speak for me but has a point, I do see colors but the intensity of these are a little different for me, so many times I mistake some for others (like trans light green for trans yellow. sorry about that...). I've posted mocs here every now and then but don't have pictures of any of their current iterations, and will probably fix that when I get home tonight.
twas not I'm afraid, I thought the stone guys had yellow on them, partially because they've had solid yellow on them in the past generation. I did not think to question it until I said it out loud, and a terrible meme was born.
Seriously fuck Toyfair reporters. Why not hire some more competent observers, people? Even if I didn't care about one Lego theme or another, if it were my job to account for what I'd seen there, you bet I'd pay closer attention to the shit the fans actually care about.
I mean, have you read Revenge of the Skull Spiders? He's kind of an over confident type with a sense of humor and competent fighting skills. Not exactly like Jaller, but certainly more-so than Vakama or Tahu.
Everyone basically shitposts when it comes to Bionicle, nobody except kids and fans care about it because there isnt any way to treat it as "muh mature hobby im totally like an engineer" as with normal lego system.
Basically this guy is full of shit though he is pretty much correct about certain things, like the spiky armor piece. The trans-light blue thing has got to be a load of shit since its clearly trans-neon green or something similar , and there is really no way he could compare UtD to UtH considering how very fundamentally different they are.
So basically he must have just glanced at it and been like "eh its like this I guess'
>Everyone basically shitposts when it comes to Bionicle, nobody except kids and fans care about it because there isnt any way to treat it as "muh mature hobby im totally like an engineer" as with normal lego system.
I never understood this. Why is shit like Transformers okay but Bionicle is bad? Is it everyone or just AFOLs and if so, does that make AFOLs the gamers of Toys?
That's because most of them are either pretty young teens who got into Bionicle in 06, or manchildren who don't necessarily understand how adults, even in the lego community, view Bionicle.
I mean we're autistic manchildren here, but I would like to think most of us are jaded enough on everything to trust our own impressions over someone who clearly doesnt give a shit about bionicle and makes astronomical assumptions like "my friend barry said something about they were simplifying the story or something so thats why these sets lack innovation" rather than someone who is actually knowledgeable about the matter being "they were likely referring to this generation versus G1 since that has been a statement they made at NYCC and this year shows absolutely no signs of lower story complexity than last year considering the introduction of more names on sets, as well as a more interesting backstory on the villain, these sets look similar to the other ones because it is using the same building system and basic aesthetic, the bestial limbs and heads are what indicate these characters as monsters rather than the hero characters."
Transformers has a LOT more brand recognition, though collecting them is still kind of looked down upon by most adults, people can sort of get it.
Bionicle has less brand-name recognition and automatically loses some points for being basically a spin-off of Lego, and considering it doesnt use the same building system and the AFOLs hate on it so much since it reinforces the unimaginable idea that lego is a toy for children, it is easy for one to dismiss it as some cheap garbage thrown together that nobody really cares about.
Bionicle is literally 15 years old though, surely views on it would've changed as nostalgia set in?
Yeah, so AFOLs are basically the gamers of toys, thanks for confirming that. I can't help but wonder how they felt about the fact Brick By Brick implied that Bionicle was actually important.
I look up always on certain themes despite never buying them so there's that.
But I also would care less for some of the licensed shit and things like Creator
So there are people in the other end of spectrum too so we can't really blame him that much.
I buy a system set once in a while just for variety, but I've never really found any of them particularly interesting. And despite the objectively worse price-per-piece, constraction sets feel way more worth their money just from the rough size of the final product.
I used to be into lego, but I really only cared about castle / fantasy sorta themes like Vikings and to a lesser extent castle, with minifigures fighting dragons or other such monsters, and also enjoyed exo-force, though sadly lego makes the most generic as fuck mechs imaginable now and sticks ninjas or knights in them instead, I really don't buy a lot of sets anymore because none of the settings or themes interest me anymore.
I was really into Space Police 3 at some point.¨
Despite not being a hugest fan of system I really adored the Lunar Limo. What a fantastic design.
Personally I would just like to see large fantasy or sci-fi themes that rely more on the design of the sets and a gear function or two to automate some things rather than sticking wheels, stud shooters, and flick flier missiles over a couple stacked lego plates, throwing on some detachable garbage vehicles, and just having the whole thing be a big mess like lego has been doing with Ninjago, Chima, and Nexo Knights.
>really want a black or gunmetal Mask of Control out of the summer wave
>end up with a Mask of Creation recolor, 'beast mode' Mask of Control and a G2 Poisoned Hau Nuva - as well as Poisoned Mask of Ice and Mask of Earth
chalk that up as a win
We'd all gladly ignore brickset if any better source had news regarding this stuff. Seriously though, how are there like three diferent major Bionicle forums yet not a single person from any of them who can get into the London Toy Fair?
To be fair, it's not like we would get any valuable information from non-bionicle fans about these sets that we don't already know from the prelims, we really just shouldn't bother at all.
>he doesn't like 1980's cartoon toy revival: the theme
To be fair I have no idea what color it is in. looks like pure gunmetal, pure black, or maybe gunmetal mixed with trans orange, it could be preliminary though, as blended parts dont really show up until much after prelims (protector masks in winter 2015, drained golden masks in summer 2015), and the part that is blended on the mask isnt blended here, and I doubt they would change around the molding process considering the relative complexity of the Umarak mask mold with the edges of the two colors being clearly defined and consistent.
I just think the villains look way too dorky and all the bad guy sets look kinda shit, meanwhile the good guy side is okay, but I don't really like the whole castle on treads aesthetic.
But this is completely off topic.
>New Quinn set
>Possible Killer Croc and Scarecrow sets
>Bionicle summer 2016
What do I do.
Should I drop a series?
I love bionicle.
Should I just stop after 2017?
Should I stop collecting batman?
Should I sell my marvel sets?
Don't know man... Bionicles are literally rare to find here where I live, to the point that I have to order them online, while G1 had a huge following and even a normal supermarket had a whole Bionicle subsection in the toys department.
The sprues 'work', but now a giant air bubble appears in the middle of the face, and I don't have any money or time to try this shit again for quite a while. I'm hoping the mold I just made is salvageable...
It'd be GREAT to not have to deal with this allergy bullshit... In all the instructional materials I've looked up, nobody mentions that anywhere! Did I win the allergy lottery for relatively obscure craft materials or something?
But that's just a little glow behind the mask, which IS solid black. Maybe that illustrative effect suggests that the solid color mask will be marbled in the final product?
Whichever it is, that mask is one of the most impressive / cool looking masks this gen, so getting it in another color / another blend would be greatly appreciated, if it is trans orange it would be pretty sweet, I can imagine how that would look where the trans color comes in front of the face in that little mouth damage protrusion thing, with trans orange it would be quite a cool looking sight.
It just looks like every other lego theme where the whole series is just shitty vehicles instead of any kind of buildings aside from (kind of) the castle.
I'd be infinitely more into system sets if they actually made everyday buildings anymore instead of just rehashing the same city vehicles every couple of months.
Personally I wouldn't mind bionicle getting a break in favour of a new constraction theme, especially one managed by someone who will tap into it's full potential rather than pussyfoot and follow LEGO traditions such as the enemies being creepy crawlies (specifically spiders, scorpions and snakes), play function gimmicks, and underground/underwater/jungle year where the entire team gears up specifically for it.
The single most important thing that LEGO blantantly refuses to address is their age group. The constraction lines are aimed at teens. Teens play games with violence, swear, crave sex, prize alphaness and have the potential to grasp complex concepts. You can't just print a 12-17 on a Thomas the Engine box and expect highschoolers to buy it.
Now, I'm not saying that LEGO should make a Duke Nukem line (though I'd shower them with money if they did). They just need more complex-looking sets (piece appearance and colour distribution), better music (music that the average person could casually listen to even without knowing where it's from) and more adult imagery.
Course when I say adult imagery I don't mean strip clubs, concentration camps and onscreen killings. I mean better posing, a palette that doesn't exclude dark or vibrant colours, and more detailed environments that can set the mood for what takes place in them. And of course a more serious character/set design like in the skull squad concept art.
I really wish lego would branch out from everything being fucking vehicles nowadays, I know its all that sells, but considering how uncommon the structure-type sets are nowdays, when thats fundamentally what lego is best at creating, its kind of frustrating
Lego would never make something quite that edgy, remember they still have their whole pseudo-non-violence thing, and constraction is AIMED at younger kids, but I feel like they should change things around a bit yeah.
Bionicle as a theme is honestly pretty great in my opinion, contraction works best for robotic-looking / armored things, and bad for standard humans, as the star wars CCBS line has proved, Bionicle on it's own has plenty of potential for complexity and what have you, as G1 proved (though it kinda went overboard at the very end), a refocus on contraction to be aimed at all ages by being aimed at an older audience (younger kids will always think that whatever the teenager thinks is cool must be super cool), and not being afraid to go for some more complicated storytelling.
Half the people who owned G1 bionicles couldnt give a damn about the story, they knew that you had these good guys with elemental powers that looked cool, and you had these bad guys who also looked cool, thats all they needed to know, the story content is needed to keep people interested who want more from their figures so that they will continue to be invested in the line. I still think G2 has potential, it just needs better story presentation, which HOPEFULLY JtO will give us (though I've watched other lego series like the new nexo knights one, it's pretty cringeworthy, far more than even the 2015 animations), the problem is that unless the line gets greenlit for more years, it might be too little too late.
IMHO the biggest problem with Bionicle right now is the designs are getting more mature and complex, but the story is becoming more childish and simple. You can tell the designers want a really serious and mature universe but the writers want it to be as muted and "child friendly" as possible.
Built another raptor, a bit smaller this time. Did I do good?
To be fair, last years Toa designs were pretty childish / 'toyish' looking, and while the skeletons fixed that, their whole spooky skeleton thing felt a bit too cliche and silly to be intimidating.
The cool, complex looking characters and designs are coming forth this year, and we havent got any story material for this year yet.
just turn the current upper leg the other way around so that it faces the same way as the big guy's upper leg, and then do a very small mod to the lower legs (turn the 2m technic bits with two axle holes sideways to offset the glatorian neck by one module form the socket piece) to make them an exact clone of Storm Beast's lower legs.
Getting there. In theropods, the femur never went beyond 80 degrees (relative to the spine) unless at a full run.. Pose them laigs rotated a bit further forward and you're golden.
Not many see the truth when it is lain before them, and fewer still wish to accept it.
As evil a fate as it may seem, this is what became of Bionicle.
Technically not QUITE what I meant, but honestly that looks way better than what I was thinking of. so overall looking pretty sweet.
If I had one complaint it would be that the area where the tail meets the body looks kind of bare, but not sure how you coud fix that, other than that you need to get more spikes so that orange raptor can have all the spikes too.
Robot dinosaur villains were originally planned for bionicle G1 before it was cancelled.
Honestly, I don't know why Lego hasn't revisited this, the jungle setting on okoto is perfect, you could have biting/clawing/tail swinging functions, and it would finally provide an opportunity for some interesting non-humanoid CCBS builds. More interesting than spooky skeletons anyways.
Plus, kids fucking love dinosaurs, they would sell like crazy
Yeah but mocs don't matter as much for me I guess
When I create something, its always something that already existed in the lore, and I have never ever given anything a name or backstory because that just seems a tad too autistic for me (no offense, but I really don't know any other ways to describe it. This site has ruined me)
>tfw got extra stickers with last year's Kopaka
>just got extra stickers with my uniter Kopaka as well
Thinking of using last year's stickers for the new Kopaka's forearms since I can't see myself using them again in the future. Opinions? If anyone else has tried last year's stickers on the metru blue shells post results.
He's completely correct, GregF once posted the sort of unfinished script for the next bionicle movie after TLR and at the end they go to Bota Magna and there are robot dinosaurs there.
It's also mentioned in one of the serials when Lewa, Miserix, Vezon, Helryx, and I think someone else too get warped to Bota Magna and see the Robot Dinosaurs there.
its too much work to say biomechanical, considering these things never got sets, or names, or anything at all except a passing mention, someone calling them robot dinosaurs instead of biomechanical or cyborg dinosaurs isn't something to get that mad about.
>When I create something, its always something that already existed in the lore
Honestly, needlessly restricting yourself to only building things that are canon seems more autistic to me than people who came up with backstories for their mocs.
First time posting something I built on here, so what do you lot think?
Sorry if the pic is sideways
In this vein, I have revamped my Feathered Serpent Uxar into a Reasonably Accurate Dinosaur Uxar.
I tried doing this myself. Here's how it turned out.
Alright biog, i got a mystery today.
I have three kraahkans. My 6 hole masks looks lighter than my 4 hole mask. Is this normal?
Moved Em around so you can see that it isn't because the light source is directly on top of it.
Tried the hands to the best of my ability, and took off the lower torso armour
>some guy's going around posting dick pics on the tumblr community
Made a gold bird/pelican/quetzalcoatlus thing. Wish I had a white foot with me for the head, but it turned out alright.
Thats what im wondering. But its not quite gunmetal, it only looks that way under light. Normally it just looks like a lighter black.
Ive been trying to figure out if I ended up with an oddity or not.
Well this is what I was going for but yeah, Probably should switch this moc up a bit for this look. Someone name it lol
So I'm on bricklink for the first time. I just want to get big and small white barbs, but I'm having trouble finding places that sell both in quantities I need and ship to my country. If the store I want to buy the parts from has nothing else I want, do I need to buy useless shit I don't want just to meet the minimum buy?
Try using the wishlist function, it's great for finding stores with everything you need.
As for stores with a minimum buy, generally yes, you need to meet their purchase limit. Some stores MIGHT be willing to let you go under if you bargain but I wouldn't count on it. My advice is just throw some rare Kanohi in your cart, they're fun to collect and tend to drive the cost up easily.
Also try to avoid buy from other countries if you can, even if their parts are cheaper, because international shipping can be a BITCH.
Speaking of MH, why aren't there more MH MOCs?
A game filled with imaginative and crazy dinosaurs and dragons, and there's like one unimpressive MOC of one of those many monsters that gets posted occasionally.
TLG still makes regular ol' buildings. The yearly Modular Building sets are the pride and joy of the Creator line; fairly large, very detailed, and full of advanced building techniques.
There are also plenty of smaller buildings, with a good number of houses and homes, and recently a series of shops in a style reminiscent of the larger Modulars.
>be late for posting dino mocs...
Screw it, I'll share mine either way
And even the licensed and original themes have buildings and structures. LOTR/Hobbit had castles and caves and a hobbit hole; Superheroes get their Daily Bugles and Batcaves; Ninjago always has a temple every year; Chima has bases for almost every animal tribe.
Hey, whoever it was who recommended a few threads back that I should make Ekimu taller so his proportions didn't look so weird, you are a wise man, thank you
Tried making the new Ekimu.
Legs and Arms should be just right but the torso has some technic bulking which I didn't bother making.
Now he looks like pic related.
Do you think BZP honestly has enough income that they can ship B6 to London as cargo?
And then have him speed past everything else on the fair and spend the whole time eyeballing the new stuff.
finally decided to take the plunge and get some 2016 bonikles. Was pretty cringeworthy in the store as I'm pretty sure the chick behind the counter thought I was handicapped
>hand over boxes I want
>"wow, guess you're a big bionic fan?"
>"yeah, I guess. I've been collecting them for a long time"
>she gives me a kindly smile and starts talking more slowly
>"thats what we like to hear, good for you"
plus I'd forgotten my VIP card so had to spell my email address out to her, I could feel the spaghetti leaking.
honestly, while 2015 Kopaka looks quite nice, he suffers from a shity shield, terrible possibility and not much play value.
with a little bit of tweeking using the parts that come with 2015 Tahu, he can easily be one of the better 2015 sets
What part of the interaction would have made her think there's something wrong with your head? LEGO Store employees in general are pleasant folks, and enthusiastic about there being other fans.
I've seen a great Qurupeco moc using mixel joints in the lego general
I have a similar story
>Need G2 sets with a vengeance
>Head to a TRU across town far, far away from my home
>Grab entire wave, plus doubles of Not-Air and Water because I'm a Responsible Adult™
>Go to checkout with entire fucking load in my arms because I'd rather cut my arms off than touch one of those leprosy-ridden dingy blue carts
>Spot Maj. Babe behind counter
>She's giving me a seriously skeptical look
>Pay for everything, use my discount card, red in the face.
>Head home, put everything on a card table in my spare room, shelves lined with Bionicle collection
>Sit on couch thinking about weird look checkout girl gave me
>Make dinner, watch Netflix, few hours pass, hear someone come in
>Look up, it's Major Babe
>Tell her I made dinner and that I have a surprise. That look again
>After we eat, take her into the Bonkle room
>She spots the unopened boxes, flips shit with happiness
>"I figured we could build this wave together since it's the first to come out since we moved in together"
>Spend hours building the sets and posing them on our collection shelf
>Make shitty moc with the water and jungle duplicates
>agree it's trash and dump it in the parts bin
>Pose Lewa and Gali so that they're holding hands
>Make out on the couch watching Parks and Rec and go to bed
>Fart under the covers
Man, I was so embarrassed
I posted this a few threads ago, and I've finally had some time to make the suggested improvements. What do you guys think?
are we doing bionicle cringe now?
>I used to make Duel Disks for my bionicles using blades and stuff, made them look super legit.
>I'd then play them off against each other
>the scale of the cards meant it looked just like the show with the holograms
>was just me playing yu-gi-oh against myself while also narrating what the characters did
>even did the whole flip-up-trap-card-reveal thing
my parents must have worried about me
How 2015 SHOULD have ended.
Kulta is very cool and a much better bad guy than that shitty animal fucker Umarak.
Ekimu is a dumbass midget who would be dead by now if the Toa weren't so gay and fat.
>Kulta is very cool and a much better bad guy than that shitty animal fucker Umarak.
Kulta was a fucking tool who got jobbed by a sleepy grandpa and locked in a gimp closet by some glorified matoran and their snake friend.
Umarak's a maverick who told Makuta to go fuck himself and stole his mask for his own frisky deeds.
Your post reminds me though, I oughtta rebuild Kulta for a side-by-side with his better replacement.
/biog/ should I try to track down the protectors before it's too late? I don't care so much for them and it's money I'd rather not spend, but I have so much regret about my incomplete G1 collection and the protectors are all I'm missing from G2.
I asked my little brother to play a "play game". with me sometimes.
I was basically the game engine moving the characters and he shouted commands of how the main character should move trough some shitty obstacle course like "shoot, jump, to the left, crouch etc".
Did this shit until HF.
woah that legitimately looks better, nice work
Well, for me G2 Onua is a bulky guy with this kind of neck, but with that said, Onua is already a good figure on its own so I can see why you would say that, yeah.
Oh, also, the unity gimmick still works, I don't have terak yet but I've tested with ikir and other creatures, I've modified the placement of the unity piece so everything is working.
I wouldn't say it's gorgerous
The effects look nauseating and the music should be louder.
And the narrator for the two words he says sounds really bored.
But that isn't much. Maybe when we get an actual trailer I'll make my judgement.
I love the more mechanical, bonkly look the 2016 sets have but man do I like 2015 Tahu more than his 2016 version. Literally 2 standard red parts on the entire set and they're covered up by those obnoxious flame energy things. I tried putting some red on his arms but his mask is pretty much Metru red and they don't even match anyway. 2015 Tahu looks so much more uniform.
As much as I love them, the big issue I have with the Uniters are their attempts at unique shoulder designs with pretty much all of them but Gali's and maybe Tahu's falling flat.
Onua and Kopaka's are especially questionable and it seems that sooner or later something WILL crack there unless modded due to stress on the flimsy construction.
Hell, the pieces on Onua's sides seem to be mainly there to keep the section above from sinking down too much with making him look bulkier being only an afterthought and Kopaka's shoulders also limit the range of movement he has, meaning that he can't do such simple things as raising his arms straight up.
We've been getting something new every week now, and the hype factor keeps ramping up. First the website update, then the app, now this. At this rate, I'm seriously expecting a full JtO trailer next week.
That entrance Tahu's surfing to literally says "Fire" in the Okoto alphabet from the books. Nice to see that they're being consistent with that now.
I don't have any of the exclusive masks besides the common as fuck Hero Pack, I've got every 2015 set. For 2016, I still need Lewa plus Gali, Pohatu, and Tahu along with the last three's creatures.
If Journey to One turns out as good as it seems so far and is able to reach the correct audience through Netflix, it's going to give Bionicle's popularity a huge boost. Just today, I saw some kids freaking out about Nexo Knights in front of a store window because "THOSE WERE ON TV!!!!", so it's clear how much of an effect this kind of stuff can have.
>try to apologize because I got too vicious about it
>he's blocked me so he can't see the message anyway
Should have just left it at the initial response, whatever. Cause of course people have grudges forever about stupid petty bullshit like that.
It seems that there are at least a bunch of kids hanging around on Netflix.
>“Roughly half of our 65 million members around the world regularly watch kids’ content and with the addition of these seven diverse original series we are continuing our strong investment in kids programming,” said Andy Yeatman, director of global kids’ content for Netflix.
And doesn't Netflix have suggestions or something like that? Still not as powerful as just having the show pop up simply by sitting in front of the screen, but better than having to actively search for it.
Seriously though, if JtO is good and still ends up flopping because of shitty marketing, I'm going to be pissed.
HOLD THE FUCKING PHONE.
I ASKED ABOUT THAT SHITTY FULL TRANS BLUE MASKAROO.
ITS NOT. GOING TO BE ALL TRANS BLUE.
THAT SHIT'S GOING TO BE GOLD WITH TRANS BLUE FUSED IN AROUND THE EDGES.
>the leaks are real
I'm not even angry. Just really disappointed.
I still can't believe it, there is no fucking way they would introduce a new color, trans neon green looks yellow under certain lighting conditions so maybe thats the case (I would prefer yellow of course).
I still really dont get what everyone hates on the summer sets for, these looks way better than the skull villains to me, perhaps having only five sets makes us expect a higher value out of each one, but when they turn up to be more or less the same as Lewa, Gali, and Pohatu, they're considered bad sets?
The rather positive light this guy paints Umarak in makes me think he might actually look a lot cooler than he did on the boxart. seems like Storm Beast's head piece is in standard blue and Quake Beasts head is in Trans purple.
There's always a certain percent of people who aren't going to be satisfied with anything, and a portion of them do come around once sets are finally released .
I'm personally pretty hyped to finally have a color that fits really well with gold.
The fact that it's on Storm Beast pretty much seals this as legit trans yellow for me. The usual lightning colors are blue and yellow, not blue and green, so randomly adding green pieces to the set would just be trolling.
ANY of you fucking idiots actually doubted the legitimacy of the leaks we got? Are you serious? They were so obviously real from the start. Was the denial so strong that you ACTUALLY thought leak-forgers had upped their game in resources by about 1000%? Jesus, people.
I just know its going to be a cringefest, but still, after watching nexo knights and seeing how fucking godawful that was, looking at this JtO footage really makes Bionicle feel slightly more "classy" I guess.
