Three of those sets look ugly as fuck and I still want them. Fucking bonkles, man.
>>

Question is there anything redeeming about the new setting at all? I haven't actually taken the time to catch up on the new story, but we just had another big nostalgia thread in /tg/ about Bionicle.

The pictures on the back of the boxes haven't been giving me much optimism about it honestly.
>>
>>5430732
There isn't the same level of intrigue and mystery as the first few years of G1 but it's decent. It's actually fairly similar in some ways. I'd say it isn't any better or worse but just different.
>>
>>5430732
I think you should wait for The Journey to one Netflix original and see how it is, so far the new bonkle has been lacking in media exposure.

The only real problem is that 2015 barely delivered any story content. The few pieces of media that did have notable worldbuilding did an excellent job and there's still lots of untapped potential, so it should continue getting better with every piece of content we get this year.
>>
>>5430732
Speaking of /tg/, has there been any real attempt at making a Bionicle tabletop RPG?
That BZP RP horsecrap doesn't count.
>>
>>5430807
How bad is the BZP rpg? I never bothered to check it.
>>
>>5430809
Basically, "No mention of any actual lore/setting, your character can't be a Toa, If it's based on a MOC that MOC can't exceed a certain piece-limit, and of course you know the exception to all of these rules."

>>
>>5430732
The story and setting are actually pretty good, unfortunatly last year they decided to have the only storytelling material for most of the year be these shitty 90 seconds animations which had awkward pacing due to their short run time.

If one ignores those and reads between the lines a bit to see the stuff that the story team actually put together versus how it was presented to us, you see a pretty cool setting. Basically instead of villages in different regions like 2001's island, you have an island that was originally just all the same biome and the villagers all lived in cities be it the capital city or the city of the mask makers, the capital ended up being turned into a crater after the great cataclysm caused by Ekimu and Makuta's battle (this cataclysm also fucked with the island itself, causing the six elements to basically manifest themselves and completely change most of the island except for a single corner which happened to be protected from the shockwave by the mountain in the middle of the island), and the city of the mask makers was later abandoned due to an invasion by monsters.

Also way before that you had six avatars of the island's elements come into being in the form of what are basically ancient / wise dragons but in the forms of a bug-like creature, shark-like creature, etc. and a being born the shadows at around the same time who's sole purpose is hunting them down.

The villages the villagers eventually moved to havent been covered too much because there are multiple villages in each elemental region so they never bothered going into detail about all of them and the villagers eventually end up moving back to the city of the mask makers anyway.

The main weakness of the setting versus G1s is the lack of terms for everything like in G1, basically everything that was in "matoran language" is just said in english now, so 'Kanohi' is just mask, "Wahi" is just region, and so on.

>this year has a simpler storyline as kids were getting confused. will come with 4x 22min netflix movies.
From what we've seen the story is a bit better than last years, not simper. Perhaps they meant something more along the lines of 'straightforward', since last years story was confusing in how poorly presented it was for most of the year. (Unless they meant in comparison to G1)
>>
>>5431025
I sure hope the comparison was with G1. Even if the media representation was a bit messy, I don't see anything in the 2015 storyline that could confuse kids to the point where Lego immediately decide they need to cut back on the complexity.

totally not bahrag.jpg
717KB, 532x4846px
>>5431002
Well, part of the reason I started this is that Bahrag are one of the 5 sets I'm still missing from complete 02 collection (rest are Pahrak Va, Nuhvok Va, Tahnok Va and Power pack), and while everything else is in my parts bin as a fucking mess, it's the thought that counts.

And I am planning on replacing the rubber bands with generic ones if I ever make it that far

>>5431004
Exactly. And no one knows if it'll be cheaper. Generally stuff like this is cheaper to part out, but it really depends on many things.

And because totally no one asked, here's what I have so far.
>>
>>5431034
I feel like they were probably going over their whole G2 gameplan and the person who wrote the article linked there just sort of interpreted that way, remember what we know of the story this year versus last year:

2015
>Toa get summoned
>Toa find golden masks
>Toa get to city entrance and beat up LoSS
>Toa go into city and beat up skeletons
>Toa wake up Ekimu and beat the big bad skeleton
2016 (from what we've seen)
>Toa get upgraded and go find the elemental creatures
>Creatures tell them they hid the mask of control in a labyrinth on an island
>Toa go there and find Umarak, a being as ancient as the creatures who wants to hunt them
>Umarak gets mask of control and eventually puts it on
>Umarak turns into some sort of huge monster

Even without all the information I would hardly call the 2016 story 'simpler' than the 2015, more straightforward perhaps.

What is a good piece of information is that now we know for a fact that the series is four 22 minute long episodes
>>
>>5431040
What all parts are you still missing there? I don't see the blue and red +oo+ pieces, nor the white technic axles and half axle half pin pieces, nor the ribbed hose piece or the round piece the eyes go on, is there a reason you are having difficulty parting these together?
>>
What's the best way to see JtO, if I don't have Netflix?

>>
>>5431053

>>
>>5431049
>is there a reason you are having difficulty parting these together?
Simple. I just went to biggest store on the country and got everything I could scrape together. But as of now, the project is on hold before I get some more money. Other stuff I'm missing is more or less the hinge-pieces on the legs, some Technic bits and bobs, Pahrak-shields from the feet, antennae for the both, every single gear, every hose (some of those are surprisingly rare), one red Bohrok half and the white Technic parts for the teeth. Again, not so common.

And yes, I am ready to order internationally.

I just want good 2016 pictures ASAP to stop some of the shitposting. I personally like all the beasts and feel like all the disappointment in the 2016 summer sets stems from Umarak, who we were looking forward to the most. If the actual model for Umarak proves to look really good and the iffy-looking prelim was simply a matter of poor posing or CGI errors, then I feel like people will warm up to the summer sets pretty fast.

Never would've I thought that I would be glad that only Creatures come with Shadow Traps.

I did some cleaning and digged up a bucketful of Skull Spiders I just don't have room or will to display them.
>>
>>5431142
see I really don't get the hate on the beasts, it's not like the skeletons where exposed ball joints on both the torso (which was a terrible inexcusable flaw that plagued all the 2015 sets but whatever) and on the limbs, and then there was scorpio who was just a weird set.

The beasts have consistent color schemes (a splash of trans-neon green here or there but its not as jarring as the trans-orange on the skull villains), cool head designs, and varied and cool silhouettes, Lava beast looks like some kind of imp or demon with his short legs but scary looking head, Quake beast looks intimidating with his bulky frame and especially bulky crystal arm, and Storm beast has an awesome lean look with terrifying looking claws. The shadow traps sticking out of them in places also gives them a strange, very evil feel.

That is literally how Terak works, aside from achieving the same but with only two gear pieces.
>>
>>5431199

>>
>Beasts come with corrupt versions of Tahu, Onua and Kopaka's masks

There is nothing wrong with asymmetry. Only Lava beast has shitty legs, Gunmetal isnt bad, trans lightblue, and trans blue with trans bright green accents isnt that bad, Gali pulled it off with worse colors in 2015.

>>
>>5431216
If he used the vanilla gearbox both arms would swing in oppositie directions, he wanted them to swing in the same direction like the was doing a sledgehammer.
>>
>>5431273
In that case you could have probably just torn Terak's back off and stuck it on there.
>>
>>5431043
This. There's 0% chance of the story being simpler seeing as the animations added up to 30mins. While JtO is 88mins total. And the fact that we know we have another graphic novel and two more books coming.

I can understand why kids got confused since 2015 was a clusterfuck in terms of media.
>>
>>5430834
The halfassedness of 2015's story material really fucked it over. I don't think Genwunners would be complaining about the story so much if the animations showed, or described this.

While Shadow seems to be more than just another element, I can actually see "Toa Umarak" happening in a way. The enemy for 2017 might very well be Makuta, and Umarak's probably going to be mighty cheesed at the guy who forced him to wear an evil mutating mask.

Subjective.

Ikir's cool but the open ball joints are kind of obnoxious on him and there isnt a whole lot of ways you can pose him.

Uxar's really cool and has a very sleek design, but his wingtips are hard to keep organized since they are connected by blue pins, and his wingspan is so huge its hard to fit on a shelf.

Terak is cool looking and has neat colors but his function is really lame

Melum is basically a worse-looking Terak but with a much better function

Akida is a really cool creature who feels way larger and more substantial than all the others despite being considerably smaller in terms of surface area than Uxar, the guns are kind of weird and there isnt a WHOLE lot of ways you can pose a fish, but the set is really good

Ketar is a mess, but has a certain sort of underdog charm to him

+ masks made with the new mold stay on heads without assistance
+ when heated, the mold produces masks with crisper detail than masks cured at room temp
+ I made sure to brush all the little debris off this time when making the mold, so detail is perfect

- the working time of the solid resin that I have causes it to begin to solidify before I can finish pouring
(maybe this can be solved by mixing equal concentrations of it and the transparent resin - result would still be fully opaque, but maybe take longer to solidify)
- Regardless of whether or not I'm fully covered and wearing a breathing mask, it seems I can't avoid getting some kind of allergic skin reaction when working with this stuff, but I have proper stuff to treat it

I've got a setup where fans blow the fumes into the ventilation system in my bathroom, which seems to be working alright... I haven't been having issues like before now that I'm fully protected, but maybe I should lay off until the current rashes (leftovers from before that are nearly diminished) clear. I have noticed that being near fumes when they are uncovered makes them tingle...

Damn weather doesn't let me do this outside... the cold doesn't help the curing at all. Though maybe that would increase the cure time so I could get the mask filled... no wind though...

>>
>>5431718
Everyone basically shitposts when it comes to Bionicle, nobody except kids and fans care about it because there isnt any way to treat it as "muh mature hobby im totally like an engineer" as with normal lego system.

Basically this guy is full of shit though he is pretty much correct about certain things, like the spiky armor piece. The trans-light blue thing has got to be a load of shit since its clearly trans-neon green or something similar , and there is really no way he could compare UtD to UtH considering how very fundamentally different they are.

So basically he must have just glanced at it and been like "eh its like this I guess'
>>
>>5431929
>Everyone basically shitposts when it comes to Bionicle, nobody except kids and fans care about it because there isnt any way to treat it as "muh mature hobby im totally like an engineer" as with normal lego system.
I never understood this. Why is shit like Transformers okay but Bionicle is bad? Is it everyone or just AFOLs and if so, does that make AFOLs the gamers of Toys?
>>
>>5431866
That's because most of them are either pretty young teens who got into Bionicle in 06, or manchildren who don't necessarily understand how adults, even in the lego community, view Bionicle.

I mean we're autistic manchildren here, but I would like to think most of us are jaded enough on everything to trust our own impressions over someone who clearly doesnt give a shit about bionicle and makes astronomical assumptions like "my friend barry said something about they were simplifying the story or something so thats why these sets lack innovation" rather than someone who is actually knowledgeable about the matter being "they were likely referring to this generation versus G1 since that has been a statement they made at NYCC and this year shows absolutely no signs of lower story complexity than last year considering the introduction of more names on sets, as well as a more interesting backstory on the villain, these sets look similar to the other ones because it is using the same building system and basic aesthetic, the bestial limbs and heads are what indicate these characters as monsters rather than the hero characters."
>>
>>5431940
Transformers has a LOT more brand recognition, though collecting them is still kind of looked down upon by most adults, people can sort of get it.

Bionicle has less brand-name recognition and automatically loses some points for being basically a spin-off of Lego, and considering it doesnt use the same building system and the AFOLs hate on it so much since it reinforces the unimaginable idea that lego is a toy for children, it is easy for one to dismiss it as some cheap garbage thrown together that nobody really cares about.
>>
>>5431945
Bionicle is literally 15 years old though, surely views on it would've changed as nostalgia set in?

Yeah, so AFOLs are basically the gamers of toys, thanks for confirming that. I can't help but wonder how they felt about the fact Brick By Brick implied that Bionicle was actually important.
>>
I must be the only one that likes Bionicle and dismisses everything else related to Lego.
It's not like I hate the rest, but I simply do not care.
>>
>>5431968

>>
>>5431968

Personally I would just like to see large fantasy or sci-fi themes that rely more on the design of the sets and a gear function or two to automate some things rather than sticking wheels, stud shooters, and flick flier missiles over a couple stacked lego plates, throwing on some detachable garbage vehicles, and just having the whole thing be a big mess like lego has been doing with Ninjago, Chima, and Nexo Knights.

To be fair I have no idea what color it is in. looks like pure gunmetal, pure black, or maybe gunmetal mixed with trans orange, it could be preliminary though, as blended parts dont really show up until much after prelims (protector masks in winter 2015, drained golden masks in summer 2015), and the part that is blended on the mask isnt blended here, and I doubt they would change around the molding process considering the relative complexity of the Umarak mask mold with the edges of the two colors being clearly defined and consistent.

Personally I wouldn't mind bionicle getting a break in favour of a new constraction theme, especially one managed by someone who will tap into it's full potential rather than pussyfoot and follow LEGO traditions such as the enemies being creepy crawlies (specifically spiders, scorpions and snakes), play function gimmicks, and underground/underwater/jungle year where the entire team gears up specifically for it.

The single most important thing that LEGO blantantly refuses to address is their age group. The constraction lines are aimed at teens. Teens play games with violence, swear, crave sex, prize alphaness and have the potential to grasp complex concepts. You can't just print a 12-17 on a Thomas the Engine box and expect highschoolers to buy it.

Now, I'm not saying that LEGO should make a Duke Nukem line (though I'd shower them with money if they did). They just need more complex-looking sets (piece appearance and colour distribution), better music (music that the average person could casually listen to even without knowing where it's from) and more adult imagery.

Course when I say adult imagery I don't mean strip clubs, concentration camps and onscreen killings. I mean better posing, a palette that doesn't exclude dark or vibrant colours, and more detailed environments that can set the mood for what takes place in them. And of course a more serious character/set design like in the skull squad concept art.
>>
>>5432444
I really wish lego would branch out from everything being fucking vehicles nowadays, I know its all that sells, but considering how uncommon the structure-type sets are nowdays, when thats fundamentally what lego is best at creating, its kind of frustrating

Lego would never make something quite that edgy, remember they still have their whole pseudo-non-violence thing, and constraction is AIMED at younger kids, but I feel like they should change things around a bit yeah.

Bionicle as a theme is honestly pretty great in my opinion, contraction works best for robotic-looking / armored things, and bad for standard humans, as the star wars CCBS line has proved, Bionicle on it's own has plenty of potential for complexity and what have you, as G1 proved (though it kinda went overboard at the very end), a refocus on contraction to be aimed at all ages by being aimed at an older audience (younger kids will always think that whatever the teenager thinks is cool must be super cool), and not being afraid to go for some more complicated storytelling.

Half the people who owned G1 bionicles couldnt give a damn about the story, they knew that you had these good guys with elemental powers that looked cool, and you had these bad guys who also looked cool, thats all they needed to know, the story content is needed to keep people interested who want more from their figures so that they will continue to be invested in the line. I still think G2 has potential, it just needs better story presentation, which HOPEFULLY JtO will give us (though I've watched other lego series like the new nexo knights one, it's pretty cringeworthy, far more than even the 2015 animations), the problem is that unless the line gets greenlit for more years, it might be too little too late.

IMHO the biggest problem with Bionicle right now is the designs are getting more mature and complex, but the story is becoming more childish and simple. You can tell the designers want a really serious and mature universe but the writers want it to be as muted and "child friendly" as possible.

To be fair, last years Toa designs were pretty childish / 'toyish' looking, and while the skeletons fixed that, their whole spooky skeleton thing felt a bit too cliche and silly to be intimidating.

The cool, complex looking characters and designs are coming forth this year, and we havent got any story material for this year yet.

Robot dinosaur villains were originally planned for bionicle G1 before it was cancelled.

Honestly, I don't know why Lego hasn't revisited this, the jungle setting on okoto is perfect, you could have biting/clawing/tail swinging functions, and it would finally provide an opportunity for some interesting non-humanoid CCBS builds. More interesting than spooky skeletons anyways.

Plus, kids fucking love dinosaurs, they would sell like crazy
>>
>>5432853
If nothing else, the new beast heads should work pretty well as dinosaur heads, so we can at least MOC some.
>>
>>5432860
Yeah but mocs don't matter as much for me I guess

When I create something, its always something that already existed in the lore, and I have never ever given anything a name or backstory because that just seems a tad too autistic for me (no offense, but I really don't know any other ways to describe it. This site has ruined me)

He's completely correct, GregF once posted the sort of unfinished script for the next bionicle movie after TLR and at the end they go to Bota Magna and there are robot dinosaurs there.

It's also mentioned in one of the serials when Lewa, Miserix, Vezon, Helryx, and I think someone else too get warped to Bota Magna and see the Robot Dinosaurs there.
>>
>>5432894
Nigger, those were regular dinosaurs with metal shit sticking out of them. Not robots.
Cyborgs.
Why do people have such a difficult time grasping the concept?
>>
>>5432906
its too much work to say biomechanical, considering these things never got sets, or names, or anything at all except a passing mention, someone calling them robot dinosaurs instead of biomechanical or cyborg dinosaurs isn't something to get that mad about.

So I'm on bricklink for the first time. I just want to get big and small white barbs, but I'm having trouble finding places that sell both in quantities I need and ship to my country. If the store I want to buy the parts from has nothing else I want, do I need to buy useless shit I don't want just to meet the minimum buy?
>>
>>5433170
Try using the wishlist function, it's great for finding stores with everything you need.
As for stores with a minimum buy, generally yes, you need to meet their purchase limit. Some stores MIGHT be willing to let you go under if you bargain but I wouldn't count on it. My advice is just throw some rare Kanohi in your cart, they're fun to collect and tend to drive the cost up easily.
Also try to avoid buy from other countries if you can, even if their parts are cheaper, because international shipping can be a BITCH.

I have a similar story

>Need G2 sets with a vengeance
>Head to a TRU across town far, far away from my home
>Grab entire wave, plus doubles of Not-Air and Water because I'm a Responsible Adult™
>Go to checkout with entire fucking load in my arms because I'd rather cut my arms off than touch one of those leprosy-ridden dingy blue carts
>Spot Maj. Babe behind counter
>She's giving me a seriously skeptical look
>Pay for everything, use my discount card, red in the face.
>Head home, put everything on a card table in my spare room, shelves lined with Bionicle collection
>Sit on couch thinking about weird look checkout girl gave me
>Make dinner, watch Netflix, few hours pass, hear someone come in
>Look up, it's Major Babe
>Tell her I made dinner and that I have a surprise. That look again
>After we eat, take her into the Bonkle room
>She spots the unopened boxes, flips shit with happiness
>"I figured we could build this wave together since it's the first to come out since we moved in together"
>Spend hours building the sets and posing them on our collection shelf
>Make shitty moc with the water and jungle duplicates
>agree it's trash and dump it in the parts bin
>Pose Lewa and Gali so that they're holding hands
>Make out on the couch watching Parks and Rec and go to bed
>Fart under the covers

Umarak's a maverick who told Makuta to go fuck himself and stole his mask for his own frisky deeds.

Oh, also, the unity gimmick still works, I don't have terak yet but I've tested with ikir and other creatures, I've modified the placement of the unity piece so everything is working.

I love the more mechanical, bonkly look the 2016 sets have but man do I like 2015 Tahu more than his 2016 version. Literally 2 standard red parts on the entire set and they're covered up by those obnoxious flame energy things. I tried putting some red on his arms but his mask is pretty much Metru red and they don't even match anyway. 2015 Tahu looks so much more uniform.
>>
>>5434413
As much as I love them, the big issue I have with the Uniters are their attempts at unique shoulder designs with pretty much all of them but Gali's and maybe Tahu's falling flat.
Onua and Kopaka's are especially questionable and it seems that sooner or later something WILL crack there unless modded due to stress on the flimsy construction.
Hell, the pieces on Onua's sides seem to be mainly there to keep the section above from sinking down too much with making him look bulkier being only an afterthought and Kopaka's shoulders also limit the range of movement he has, meaning that he can't do such simple things as raising his arms straight up.

Umarak is better

If Journey to One turns out as good as it seems so far and is able to reach the correct audience through Netflix, it's going to give Bionicle's popularity a huge boost. Well, JtO has had no trailer outside the one character preview on the Facebook page, and it's on Netflix, not TV, so they have to actively search for it.

It'll flop. Guaranteed.
>>
>>5434697
It seems that there are at least a bunch of kids hanging around on Netflix.
>“Roughly half of our 65 million members around the world regularly watch kids’ content and with the addition of these seven diverse original series we are continuing our strong investment in kids programming,” said Andy Yeatman, director of global kids’ content for Netflix.
And doesn't Netflix have suggestions or something like that? Still not as powerful as just having the show pop up simply by sitting in front of the screen, but better than having to actively search for it.

Seriously though, if JtO is good and still ends up flopping because of shitty marketing, I'm going to be pissed.

I still can't believe it, there is no fucking way they would introduce a new color, trans neon green looks yellow under certain lighting conditions so maybe thats the case (I would prefer yellow of course).

I still really dont get what everyone hates on the summer sets for, these looks way better than the skull villains to me, perhaps having only five sets makes us expect a higher value out of each one, but when they turn up to be more or less the same as Lewa, Gali, and Pohatu, they're considered bad sets?

I thought so too, but after rewatching it a couple times I noticed a few things about that particular clip.
1. They are in the ancient city, so it's likely not an action scene, hence the less dynamic flying
2. Just before the scene ends he is about to move his weapons behind him and go in a straight line, so the actual motion would be more of a slow swoop that accelerates into a quick straight line of flight, which wouldnt look as awkward.

anyways, I made a Prosthetic arm. it always bothered me how from 2015 to 2016 he goes from having a Natural and a Prosthetic to two natural arms....so I switched it. now he went from having two Natural arms to having one lopped off by Kulta and replaced by a Prosthetic.

my fucking god. Ketar. the more I stare at his build, the LESS it makes any sense. please tell me there's a way to fix this loose, flimsy mess of a set
>>
>>5435560
that is fucking sexy,
please reveal the secrets of the shoulder joint?
also how's the poseability?
>>
>>5435407
So why do the newer sets get so few unique weapon parts? You know, a weapon that (for at least a period of time) only that character has.
They were a regular thing in G1.
They clearly are willing to design them. Is creating new molds that expensive?
>>
>>5435622
I completely fixed him in LDD, but sadly don't own the set yet to put those fixes into practice, you have to redo a good portions of his build though.
>>
>>5435622
>lock gearing system
>lower the tail so it looks like pohatu's tail when combined
>gimp his rear legs and use the limbs on his blade arms so they have some range and poseability.

makes him a way better combiner set, still a shit animal though
>>
>>5435643
Its very very clear they have a limited amount of new molds they are able to make in a year/wave for Bionicle, last year they put a lot of those into new weapons, we got Gali/Lewa axe piece, Onua shovels, Pohatu Boomerangs, Tahu swords, hook axes, and hookblades. This year they put more of it into armor pieces, because a lot of people felt that the 2015 sets looks far too plain and not very bionicle-y (rightfully so). Instead they made a fairly generic weapon piece and used it in different ways on all of them (Dual swords on Tahu, Tonfas on Lewa, a Broadsword for Kopaka, Spear for Gali, more spear for Pohatu, etc.).

I personally do not mind the use of a single piece in different ways like this, as I found that most of the weapon pieces in G1 were useless for MOCing anyway and eventually ended up as big silver useless hunks of plastic in a parts bin (the weapons really started to drop the ball after 03 in terms of usefulness outside of that character, with the only better part being the mahritoran blades later on). However I feel like the uniters dont quite handle this reuse of a part as well as they should. Everyone should have had a unique weapon, and they managed this for the most part, until Gali and Pohatu, who COMPLETELY dropped the ball in that regard. Gali can have a spear sure, it fits with the character, but maybe dont make it a spear with a random wheel and a keychain on it. Pohatu's spear is also lackluster, as it just adds a useless rock to the other end, a flail is a cool weapon for Pohatu, but they handled it terrible, when I get that set I already have planned out how I am going to mod his weapon to be a much better spearflail.

Use one of the bones with a pinhole for the upper arm. A skull spider mask can clip onto the fork at the top of the shoulder. The Vorox armor attaches to the upper arm in the same way as 2016 Gali's upper leg. Half-pins with studs (like the ones used on 2015 Onua's shoulder armor) allow the armor addon piece to attach. This is important to keep the skull spider mask from flopping around. The other end of the hose can attach to the open axle slot on the back of the Hordika neck used for Pohatu's shoulder.

The poseability is so-so because of the hose and the Vorox armor getting in the way, but you can still get some movement out of it.

There are a couple things you can do, one easy one if you have the parts is replacing that blue pin connected to the ball piece at the back with one of the newer versions of those that is black and has 2m of axle (+ shaped) rather than just one (this piece can be found on LoSS and Kulta off the top of my head), and then move the tail from the gear function onto the exposed upward facing axle created by swapping the parts in such a way (and then put a gear or something where the tail was)

This will move the center of gravity down a bit, marginally improving the wiggle.

If you want to completely get rid of the wiggle your gonna need to mod pohatu a bit too. You know those tiny light gray pins where one side is just big enough to fit a stud on it (Tahu Uniter has some useless ones on the backs of his lower legs)? Secure the uniter piece to the small torso with one of those, making it stable, but unable to unite with Pohatu as is.

So for Pohatu, remove the gray piece from his back, and replace THAT with another one of those light gray peg pieces.

You pretty much have to completely redo the body build of Ketar if you want it non-wobbly and still having its function and not having to mod Pohatu, with Ketar its probably best to just completely rework his function from the ground up. Might try to make MOC up one of these days.

>>
>>5435856

I just wanted something simple that's more or less an original mata in CCBS form. If I could fill out his back I'd be a happy camper.

What don't you like about it though, if I may ask? What would you do differently?
>>
>>5435868
my main beef would be with the use of black for your skeleton, it gives a very different look to tahu and makes him look very toylike. I'd recommend maybe dark grey or even a small amount of trans-red over it

the head doesn't sit right with the mask in my eyes, I'd have used a metru/mahri/phantoka head instead

the feet similarly look odd, though I'm not sure what style of feet I'd recommend to replace them

I like the Metru legs

the hand looks fine, though idealy you'd want those T-shaped pieces in black though thats very hard to get.

there needs to be a bit of asymmetry with the arms, as one should be a thin, slightly bent arm designed to hold a blade with the other is a bulkier, arched arm.

the upper arm piece used here would perhaps look good on the lower arm, so he can point his blade forward, like in the animations of the mata toa

finally I really don't think the furno torso armour looks good but again, I'm not sure what I'd recommend to replace it

again these are just my thoughts and they're probably wrong

unified. I gave Pohatu's staff a longer pole, so he could actually pose with it.
>>
>>5435965

I'll have to experiment with the gray limbs, I do have them laying around. As for the different head, how would you go about connecting one of those to the neck balljoint on a CCBS torso? I don't do a lot of MOC'ing so I don't know the technique there.

I kinda like the feet myself, and they match the legs so yeah.

Yeah those gray T-shaped pieces are all I have. I see your point but don't think I care enough to bricklink them.

Arm asymmetry is a cool idea I hadn't considered. I'll try it out but I'm not sure what I could pull off with just CCBS bones.

Just tried the upper arm suggestion, doesn't really jive too well with me. Nice idea though.

And yeah, torso is all I have. I'd change that too but there aren't many more options.

I'll play around with bone color for certain and see what I get. Honestly, I think I'd be happy with it if I could just beef up his back. I managed to fit an orange armor piece from Tahu Stars back there but that doesn't add a lot of thickness at all, which is primarily what I'm looking for. A gearbox would do the trick but I like his arms as they are.
>>
>>5435498
In 2015 he was just more armoured on one side. His arm wasn't prosthetic
>>
so is 2016 kopaka the only to a with no glaring problems? just finished building the 6 of them and they are all better than their 2015 counterparts (pohatu and gali only barely) but they all have really questionable design choices

Sorry, but it's shit. It's a hollow, bare-bones, lackluster build. And you've tried to coverup that fact by over-emphasizing the tits and ass.

Use small parts to fill out the limbs and torso so that the build doesn't look so empty.

Additionally, consider researching dynamic posing. It'll make your pictures more vibrant, and the subject more visually interesting, even if the build is sub-par.

Not every moc needs to be a tiddymonster. If your moc needs t&a, integrate it into the build, don't just slap them on. The pieces you're using for breasts are kinda large for the scale you're building in, too.
