Images for winter 2016 sets:
Get up to speed:
Previous Thread: >>5420903
Eh they look pretty bad at first, though I personally like Ekimu and Storm Beast quite a bit, how it generally works with these things is that they end up looking awful in prelims but once we get the actual sets in hand they are fine (Hell I ended up liking skull scorpio last year), so we will see. I would say that these prelims definitely dont look as bad as the skull villain prelims did.
I dunno, I'm quite partial to Quake Beast. He actually looks beastly, unlike those scrawny lava/storm beasts.
Group pic of the MOCs I've made this week. I call the big one Gantigar. Do you guys like them?
Lava Beast is a cool dragon. He looks dumb because Lego decided to pose him to display functionality rather than to look cool. But he has neat looking sword-wings and I can forgive the lower legs. Probably my favourite along with Quake Beast.
Storm Beast will be the function over form set of the wave and might be cool because of it, but as of now he can go suck dick.
Gantigar is fucking amazing.
T-Rex Kulta with a thigh bone instead of a neck is the greatest idea I've ever heard, and those blue arms are the cherry on top.
What's really gonna make or break these sets for me is how the head works, I can see a bunch of shit behind the head piece and really hope there isnt some weird function that locks the jaw in an open position, because I think the new upper jaw piece at least looks really cool and if the lower jaw can close over that and also look good I will be quite happy.
I really like the thin look of storm beast with the big claws, some people have complained that they are foot pieces but I feel like that doesnt really matter to me (hell maybe you could pose storm beast as a quadruped if you REALLY wanted to)
Quake beast looks fine, I just have never been a big fan of the bulky sets, I have to wonder if his right arm is some giant hulking purple crystal arm or if its just the angle of the picture.
Wait really it's using the feet? Oh god, that's terrible.
Another poor choice are the 2 joints to UtD's feet, having them move perpendicular to each othe means he literally won't be able to move his feet.
I'm not going inside a Toys R Us, anon
YOU CAN'T MAKE ME, NOT EVEN FOR DISCOUNT BONKLES.
>All those Combiner models
>All those Stars Skrall
>All those Zesk
b-buh... err... wuh? Why?
>Dark Hunter, OoMN and Combiner shelves
>army builds Vahki, 10+ Bordakh Vorzakh and Zadakh, maybe more
>army builds Kikanalo
>army builds Stars and Agori sets (at least 10 tarduks)
>army builds the Glatorian desert scorpion peope (understandable)
>owns at least 5 of each Visorak, Strakks, and Vultraz
>a bunch of hashed together Matoran with zamor sphere launchers
>technocolor toa nuva on the floor
>has a bunch of shitty mocs of nonset characters and whatnot
>has rebuilt models of some of the rahi mocs in that one book
>has both the regular sets and combiner models
>nonironically has all the HF sets and their combiner models, all separate
>Dragon beast hanging up in the air
>kanoka disk backpack strapped onto pipe
>most of the canisters of the extra sets he bought is in the closet, even though he still displays some of the extra boxes in the main room
>more than half of the crap is just sitting on plaster
>Kraata, Krana, and some masks basically left out for people to take
>Krana is basically in the trash zone
>surprisingly only has one Tahnok-Kal
And I thought I was crazy for doing $200 Bricklink orders for moccing purposes every couple of months.
The part that scares me the most is he has good guys and bad guys on display like they're not shitposts in plastic form
I do want to reuse pieces from the Beasts, the Creatures and other sets to make a small group of elemental monsters, but they won't work for Umarak.
In my canon, Umarak is The Shadowed One, and said monsters work for themselves, for they are [toyspoiler]the Element Lords.[toyspoiler]. Difference being that they're in the Mataverse because my canon skips Bara Magna altogether.
I had a clear view of all 6 of them, except the Lord of Air, and I realized that making him/her into a creature similar to Quetzalcoatl instead of some generic bird monster would be great.
I actually built UtD's lower legs and honestly they don't look too bad from a design standpoint, but are awful from a poseability standpoint, the feet can hardly move back or forward at all (the knee is actually as far forward as it possibly can be in this image, and the technic beams tend to pull apart constantly so I'm not sure how this made it past Lego quality control.
and crazy mutated undead plague doctors that eat diseased body parts through feeding tubes that also somehow power an incineration staff>normal plague doctors
I refuse to believe TLG made a mistake as big as this one, specially considering that all sets in recent years have great quality.
There is a reason behind this leg build and when clearer leaks or even the set itself comes out we will know it.
2007 in general was a fantastic year.
I have a feeling the physical version of the mask of time will literally be a top of a mask that can house the old one into it.
Like the old one can fit and connect onto it through its stud connection
would honestly be the coolest thing ever
anyone working on custom stuff?
I finally have the materials to properly make a two-part mold
I didn't know G2 had a MoT, but then I looked it up and my mind was fucking blown.
If what you proposed is true, does that mean that the entirety of G1 is recanonized for G2 by way of having G1 set in the far future or the ancient past?
>does that mean that the entirety of G1 is recanonized for G2 by way of having G1 set in the far future or the ancient past?
No. They haven't introduced any jank to make that possible.
yea it would be awesome even if only the mask of time could fit
naw i'm still guessing they will never be connected, just like the two halves of the mask are in separate universes.
We'll see the new mask of time (the top half of the mask) but we probably won't see the full mask (both pieces connected)
but it would make sense to have the pieces connect considering they've decided that the new one is the top half, and the old one is the bottom
check out this pic
I've tried washes with various things... water, Pledge with Future, rubbing alcohol... I haven't tried an alcohol wash in resin, but water doesn't work (makes the resin bubble up like hell) and Future doesn't work (doesn't mix). So far the only thing available to me that actually does work is oil paint.
I have seen some experiments people have done with other things, and imitation stained glass paint looks like it's the best option. But I can't find any of that shit in retail stores around me, so I'll have to order it from Dick Blick or some place next time I can buy some stuff.
>G2 Vahi is the upper half
>G1 is the lower half
>Mytholographically speaking, an upper/lower dyad often represents the dichotomy mind/body and kosmos/kaos(order/chaos)
>G1 took place in the body of a sleeping Mata Nui, and had the lower half of the Vahi
>G2 specifies the upper half of the Vahi
>Instead of the body, G2 takes place in the mind
>G2 is the dream of a sleeping Mata Nui
Did I just bloW MY MIND?!
Is that what they're meant to be? I thought they were just really shitty pincers or claws.
If this becomes the truth then I will forgive Lego for literally everything. Umarak the Destroyer, Lava Beast, the grey-haired Toa masks, Skull Scorpio, Bionicle Stars, Avtoran builds in general, even lime green pieces. I will forgive Lego for all of those if they can blow my mind with a plot twist like this.
I can't unsee gali as being kind of butch because of her new mask
I'm pretty excited to see where they'll be going with this. Also, the second chapter book mentions reliefs older than even the mask makers that show the temple of time, the elemental creatures, and "unfamiliar writing". Leaving the implications of that last point aside, we already know that the creatures play an important role in the creation of Okoto, so it stands to reason that the temple and mask of time are somehow involved as well.
So, would Kylo Ren be worth it if I picked up a half price Darth Vader too?
I was thinking of just grabbing a Vader and Brickling the head/torso for Kylo, but that is $8-9 without shipping, and I'd think at that point it'd be better to buy the full Kylo and just use the rest for parts.
Holy shit, that would also explain away the shitty naming conventions.
>Protector of [element]
If the world ended up operating on "dream logic," then the lack of names from the first couple of waves gets wrapped up in a nice little bow.
When you encounter people or creatures in your dreams, do you remember (or even find out) what their names were? No, but you sure as hell remember their attributes and describe them in those terms.
Green dude who defends a jungle-dwelling tribe? Protector of Jungle.
Giant skeletal smashy guy? Skull Basher.
Giant hunter guy with shadow powers? Shadow Hunter the Hunter.
Don't know about that whole dream thing, but the comic actually implied there might be some connection between the worlds
>yfw g2 MoT is a helmet sort of thing
>it actually connects with the Vahi
Can your plague doctor create an army of the dead?
>It's linked to 2001 Bionicle somehow
>Lego re-releases all the 2001 sets (Including mask packs and the McToran) exactly as they were for a limited time
Just wait for ToyFair.
I personally believe that it was clipped inside of that for the CGI pose and the bone is supposed to be outside on the actual thing.
>let's make this gimmick that only people out of the target demographic can use.
It'll either be a full mask or the upper part and Vahi re-released with slight changes.
Raise your hand if you've had this exact dream before
Onua's drill is the drill that will piethatthe Heavens!
Onua's pretty cool honestly. Too bad TRU didn't have Terak but I'll get him eventually.
I still think Umarak is a better set, though.
Why would you want that though? Nostalgia aside, the first wave of bionicle was pretty terrible, build wise. Each set had about 20 huge pieces and no knee, elbow or neck articulation.
I'd want them to update the sets before they re-release them.
And as dream it stays. They have trashed most of the old molds.
But I really hope that when the Mask of Time becomes essential for the plot they make the toa nostalgia powerhouses, basically updated and CCBS version of their 2001 ones with changes to correspond with their G2 forms more. (Onua having trans purple instead of green for example).
Even if that is the case, there is no denying it attaches to the foot in that image via one of those elbow/knee joint bones, which is extremely limiting in one direction either way. I want to believe its different, but I just don't know yet.
When is Toyfair anyway?
Thanks, hopefully UtD turns out surprising us for the better. I feel like his torso looks odd just because its leaned over so far making it look squat, and the lack of chest printing/stickers (which final will likely have) make it look rather bear.
The head might be good but the choices for the boxart there (bland eye glow with head tilted, mouth agape, and possible everything slightly enlarged) makes it look rather comical when it may look more threatening in person.
That just leaves the legs, which are hopefully some kind of error since clearly the design as they appear on the box does not work at all.
Use your intellect. Evade my blows.
How long do Agori and Glatorian live for? Was it ever stated?
Wadda you think /biog/, big dumb purple mace or rapey drill spear?
Lava, Storm, and Quake beast use the same upper jaw mold in different colors (gunmetal, Blue, and Purple respectively), Umarak has his own upper jaw piece which is just the mask of control turned into a beastly shape.
They all share a lower jaw.
/bio/, what do you normally spend in a month in Legos? In a year?
Do you have a budget? Or is Lego just what you spend your extra cash on?
Do you just collect CCBS, or do you grab system/technic stuff?
How many lines do you follow? Do you just buy random sets that look good, regardless of theme?
It all makes sense now.
I like her though, simple but nice
I spend about 275$ a year on just Bionicles. I may buy the occasional Marvel Superheroes set, but I probably won't anymore.
Any other Lego line looks fucking stupid so I don't get anything else.
>tfw if they release a Vahi helmet that connects with the old part they'll have to reprint the old Vahi for newer fans
It's a pipe dream but I'd love an excuse to get my hands on more of these bad boys.
naw dude the fact that a vahi can attach would just be an awesome bonus for old fans who have been loyal to bionicle for like 15 years
it would still be a cool legendary mask of time that covers half the face for everyone else
it's not like the combined mask would be featured in the story (that would require both universes coming together which is not going to happen)
Anyone else actually like the silver blends on the masks? I really like it along with the trans colors on the gold ones, it really hammers in the concept that the masks aren't complete on their own, design-wise, even if they detract from the aesthetics a little bit.
>Umarak's mask just has green all over because he isn't really supposed to combine with the creatures anyway
Side note, how did he get Ketar to combine with him? The Toa are said to have had to tame them and Umarak didn't even have the Mask of Control on at the time.
Wait... like this.
Looks like Quake Beast can't stand up straight without his knees exploding.
Lewa, Pohatu, Gali, and Kopaka are all covered in silver so it actually works, and it works on Onua because, like black, isn't really a color. Tahu's covered in gold though, so it sticks out like a sore thumb.
For similar reasons, I don't understand why everyone was bitching about the silver "clashing". If anything, the gold masks clash WAY more because only half the toa are actually gold themed.
Ok so I'll have the second Mask of Water mold complete on Sunday. I hope I'm doing everything right...
Umarak's been after those guys since he first came into being, hell his sole purpose since he was born however many millennia ago has just been to hunt those creatures, he probably has that shit figured out.
Hmm, it's a bit better.
Still a little worried about the exploding knees though.
The way the bohrok eye interacts with the upper leg shell should work the same as it did on Umarak and they interface completely fine for him, you may have some limitation in getting the leg COMPLETELY straight but the lower leg design clearly is going for a more bent, digitigrade stance, and given the general look of quake beast combined with that, there will never really be much of a reason you need him standing perfectly straight.
Not sure if right place but tried a way to make this figure a little less shit at posing
Has anyone come up with alternative connections for 2016 Kopaka's shoulders? The default configuration isn't very strong, so I put the shoulders on backwards and ran a 5-length axle through the unity piece. It isn't perfect, but it's an improvement.
Has anyone created some new rahi/creatures with the new pieces. I know I posted the two little dog things and the blade-wolf creature (all three haven't been named yet), there was some one who posted their bat/plague doctor bat Fuk Fuk, and I know of someones rahi instructions for the previous two G2 waves.
I also based this guy of of Tahtorak from G1.
So, Ikir and Uxar can fly, and Akida can swim...One question. How the FUCK did the other three make it all the way across the goddamn ocean?
>How the FUCK did the other three make it all the way across the goddamn ocean?
Gali and Pohatu ATK'd their way across.
Kopaka and Onua DEF'd their way there.
Wherein lies the problem?
I used caterpillar treads and exo force hands.
This guy went to town with the first year stuff.
And pic related is mine. I only used Pohatu and Tahu.
Yeah I've seen his stuff, it was really neat.
And my creature things have all been made with G2 pieces. Although I had to use the Grievous set for this guy.
>tfw the Toa got crazy masks that let them make typhoons and summon firestorms and shit
>and they NEVER fucking use them
>every time there's a battle they just charge with their melee weapons like a bunch of retards
What's even the point?
Having a feather duster for a weapon wouldn't be very practical anon, don't be silly.
>have shit taste
>ask /biog/ how to improve a moc
>get sarcastic reply
>autism kicks in full blast
>assume reply is genuine
>finally realize he was just making fun of how shit it is
welp this is fucking embarrassing. time to never post here again, sorry everyone
Everything aside, alter those legs a bit and they look really sweet
Sarcastic smartass here.
If it makes you feel any better, I'm pretty shit too.
You guys should really lay off calling everything "autistic".
Autism is a real disorder, and it's safe to assume most of you don't actually have it. There's a big difference between being feeling self-conscious and having literal mental breakdowns.
It's this dude. I always really liked how he turned out. Was going for a samurai look. Posted it in a /biog/ a looooong time ago, like late 2014 (Jesus time flies) and folks seemed to like him.
But that's the only good one I've built really. I did a CCBS Tahu Mata awhile back too before the 2015 sets came out that was okay'ish. I'll have to dig him up.
>it's safe to assume most of you don't actually have it.
Do you know where you are?
Here he is next to his inspiration. Thought I had one of him by himself but couldn't find it.
>tfw I took this pic more than a year ago
>bonkle g2 has came this far
Thanks pal, those shoulder pieces unfortunately don't come in silvershit so I was stuck. You can probably see the black armor shells underneath them as well, also because I ran out of silver.
I don't think I'll be using this yellow poster paper again
More people should make mata-style toa with CCBS limbs. It's easy and fun to see how far a simple template can go.
I wonder how the Toa's new forms are going to be explained. They obviously need the new golden masks to unite with the creatures, but that doesn't explain why their normal masks now have these shapes as well, why they all have new weapons, or why everyone suddenly got taller.
And if all the new equipment really does come from Ekimu, why did he even reforge the 2015 golden masks if he could have made the new ones right away?
Alrighty. Here ya go.
Yes and I'm betting it's the one in between the Region of Fire and the Region of Jungle, which appears on every map we've seen.
Wtf am i doing? part 3: I have no idea if any part of this thing looks OK. Any help would be hugely appreciated

Holy shit just fucking end your existence m8
Gotta say, as much as it still isnt a MNOG or anything, this new game is quite a big step up from the previous in terms of both gameplay, and OST (is this going to be the JtO OST because its fucking great), pretty impressed overall.
Thanks for the feedback, I need it. Yes I'm trying to only use LoSS + MMvSG sets. Do you think that's its foundationally stupid or can it be saved with some major adjustments? If you can be more specific as to what parts are stupid, I'd be very grateful.
I thought that only the shitty moulds like the ones containing out-of-date sockets were scrapped once the Glatorian armour was rereleased. Not entirely related, but I'm really glad that the new masks are made off hard plastic unlike the softer ones from 2003 onwards. They used to get damaged very easily, which was a pain as I buy a lot of second-hand Bonkles.
>what the fuck happened in 2007
Here's your answer. It wasn't just Bionicle that was affected. Some of my Power Miners parts are cracked as well.
After I click the shell on, I bend the fist all the way back so it doesn't look so empty.
Same here anon. For some reason, the parts that clip onto the ball joints will crack and eventually break over time. It happens to me a few times, but perhaps the best thing to do is just go on ebay and by bins of parts for replacement.
It's pretty simple honestly.
Also just noticed the left back piece was loose. Oops
getting there anon, getting there
experiment with more parts to adjust the shape and thickness of the torso, and give the poor unbalanced theropod a longer tail.
perhaps replace his eyes with a backwards pointing glatorian neck, that you can give him a more dinosaur-like neck thickness.
So with Makuta not being the whole Shadow element thing this gen, I guess Umarak is the one filling that role in G2? All of his powers are shadow-related (except firing poison arrows I guess), and his name means Shadow Hunter.
Welp, still. I'm trying to set things up like my collection room is the red star of the bionicle universe. I'm just raking in as many spare parts so that whenever something breaks, just fix and respawn.
Thanks very much for the advice. But I don't know what a glatorian neck is, and I don't have any g1 parts. Also, I'm trying to stick with parts from LoSS and MMvSG if I can.
Is that a bad thing?
Functionally it works better, but I'm not sure I like how it looks. What do you think?
That fight is a pain in the arse without cheats. Fights like that are the reason why I stopped playing VNOG. Oh, and having to run from one end of a fuckhuge map to the other every quest rather than build a fucking radio.
glatorian necks are what LOSS uses to connect his feet to his legs, and what your kulta-rex uses to do the same, they're the short structural piece that have the ball joint sticking out the end. In retrospect though, I don't believe the piece will fit where I suggested you put it, so disregard. Still, longer tail, thicker body. Consider hiving him a more bestial hunch by filling out his back with some of the trans orange structural pieces from LOSS currently not in use. Additionally, I'd recommend reversing the position of the torso skeletal piece, for a more theropodal build, by having the hips wider apart than the shoulders.
Hello /biog/. I did a little bit of heresy just to see if this worked. From left to right: A standard G1 hand piece, a hand piece with a broken axle hole and the solution to the Uniters' shitty knees. It still needs a bit of cleaning up. Should I just use some fine sandpaper or is there something better?
Here's a view from another angle, showing that I probably need to use tools other than a hacksaw, a razor blade and a blunt chisel to heresy with.
I'm terribly sorry, but what is the sauce of this?
Also, was redirected from a Bionicle DEEPEST LORE thread to here; do you people like old MOCs?
k. incoming dump then. These are all from a guy called Roa McToa, based on his planned 2 hour long "Island of Terror" movie. It fell through and is dead. however, all these mocs are fully articulated
These smaller ones are pretty neat. With the accompanying lore, I could get behind using them for familiars in some campaigns
How does this look? Also, km not sure where I can even fit the trans-orange LoSS technic pieces on the torso, unless I get rid of the torso armor plate on the back. Can you be more specific?
Was not the easiest thing to find, it's UnLove S.
The whole doujin is full of reaction faces.
I think this is where my obsession with flying whales started. These things' lore says they can fly. And you can ride them. The MOC can raise its wing pods. It's sick as fuck.
I do not know/do not especially care about SJW (unless it is particularly egregious) but if she gets exclusive pieces, then uses them in competition, I can see the booty blasting that might result.
thank you kindly
Looks good for a starter. Are you thinking of building it up? It could be a great demon thing. If not, is it because of the new shitty pieces? They don't seem to lend themselves to bulking and plating, that is, adding more pieces to create thicker limbs and bodies
Looking pretty decent now. I mean I would probably end up adding more bells and whistles to it to use up more of the parts, but honestly its pretty much as good as it can be with the parts limitations.
You can't get it without making some shady-ass account, and I'm not doing that when it pretty certainly isn't even real. Pic related is what the stream shows before asking you to register, so it's probably just some random movie.
But if you guys really need to know, here's the link: http://www.all-download.co.uk/tv-serie/5075942-lego-bionicle-the-journey-to-one
Fuck, I just realized its arms have zero posabilitiy thanks to the armor on the back + shoulder armor add-ons. My bad.
I think it's more to do with me being a noob at MOCing. There should be enough parts to make this thing good, but I dont have the skill.
Thanks for the help. I'll play around and see what I can do to make it better, but I doubt I'll get far.
I know you feel the urge to stagger the types of ccbs limbs in the tail, but I recommend you avoid doing so and keep the longer ones near the base and the shorter ones without shells near the tip, dinosaur tails get thinner the farther along they are, even in cases of weaponized tails.
Angle the arms so that the upper arms are perpendicular with the body, but the forearms are parallel with it, and have the hands pointing down.
Replace the armor on the upper legs with chest armor plates, probably black like the one you are using for his back, replace his back plate with the trans orange ribcage of kulta that you are using for his chest, replace the chest armor with a thinner armor piece, and if you can, try to expand the torso vertically with smaller pieces rather than horizontally as might be implied by one saying "make it thicker".
With all thses mods, you might have yourself a decent looking kulta-rex
I think I'd say that a thick metal nail file is a good choice. Personally I found it helps make the surface flatter than it would have been had I used just sandpaper.
>use tools other than a hacksaw, a razor blade and a blunt chisel
I myself use a pair of toenail clippers for the more precise stuff. A clean pair obviously. Don't use the same ones you use to cut your toes, that's fucken gross. And a small pair of wire cutters for the bulkier stuff.
Though as far as I can tell you've done a better job than what I usually do, so what do I know? My heresy hands are all pretty dodgy.
Thanks. I'll grab a nail file from somewhere. The clipper sounds like a good idea. I think I once used a small pair of wire cutters to trim down a System flagpole piece with a chewed-up stud.
The mata are iconic as hell, but yeah their builds are kinda meh and most of all their pose-ability is terrible (even ignoring the lack of knee, elbow, and hand articulation, they cant spread their arms apart from their bodies very far and their legs cant go forward and back very far at all either)
Rahi were really cool, wish they would have release more big technic monsters like them but with ball joints for some actual pose-ability.
They're pretty impressive at first glance, sure, but the sheer amount of pieces being used undermines the 'talent' angle.
Actual talent would be building something grand and impressive with a limited number of pieces, or at least not ordering half of bricklink for each MOC.
Sounds like a plan. Just be careful where you cut or you'll get horrible white stress marks on your parts.
Absolutely not. Like I said, they're too dodgy. I wouldn't be happy selling lo quality work to customers and I really don't have the energy to get good at making them. I mean it's not hard. You can probably work out how to make your own from just looking at them. But I might make up a guide or something if people want that.
I still don't understand why the hell Lego actually went out of their way to give Gali classic black 2m axles instead of the bright red ones they've had since 2006, but then neglected to do it for any of the other Toa who really suffer for them (Kopaka, Lewa, and Pohatu), why make a change like that if you're not going to follow through?
The amount of heresy here makes me sad. While I'm fine with broken parts being cut or glued, I highly doubt that all of those Minifig torsos and bars were damaged. Most of this stuff can be made legally anyway.
It's the stars Hau, so it has that unsightly hole in the 'mouth' that the original doesn't have.
Because Lego knows that we'll all buy Gali just to throw some Jango tits on her. Rather than listen to the complaints of a hundred neckbeards, they gave us what we wanted. Since Gali isn't one of the better Uniters, kids will be more likely to buy the other figures, so they all had red axles for whatever reason Lego decides to use this week.
I remember a time when this was the most controversial, heretical thing imaginable and generally The Worst Ever™.
Like, there was about half a thread dedicated to screaming about it.
Yeah there are things worse than his builds, but they're still lazy shit.
You're realling coming along with that thing, I'm impressed. Though is it just me, or have you stopped using pieces from just LoSS and Kulta (I see 6 long black bones on that whereas the sets only have 4 total), if you have broken said rule I would definitely add trans-orange toes to the feet and the black spike pieces along the spine, but either way this has come along really nice.
Thanks for the kind words anon. I stopped being strictly LoSS + MMvSG when I changed the tail from trans blue to black. I'm still trying to keep it to just those pieces as much as possible. Mind you, I only have g2 sets.
I made BA Stormer into an over-articulated piece of crap.
You opted out of using torso plates for the leg armor? They were suggested to give it the large thigh shape theropods are usually depicted having, and would fill out his rear a bit more. Things I never thought I'd say. If you wish not to do that, maybe move the shoulder armor addons onto his leg armor, for the same effect. I would also suggest posing him more parallel with the ground, and posing his neck so that his eye stalk/brain is nearly touching his neck.
experiment with some other poses, and maybe post some more forward facing pics.
Because the original Mata have kickass designs, but they're static as fuck. I could MOC more articulated renditions, but then the accuracy of the original parts isn't preserved. I just want super posable high quality action figures that look exactly like the originals, but have actual joints and pistons in place of the solidly molded fake details. Die-cast in the feet and jointwork would just be the cherry on top.
This is coming from a spoiled high-end toy collector who also collects bonkles as action figures, and not for their MOCing potential.
guy with the walls of text here, the spikes are actually a surprising nice touch.
you have yourself a pretty fine looking dinosaur with a dopey skull face now. How do you feel.
As an aside, I'd recommend experimenting with masks other than kulta's, but if the plan was "dinosaur kulta" feel free to stop now, you succeeded.
That actually looks REALLY cool. I've been meaning to say since you started posting that I really like what you've done with the claws. Using them gears like that is pretty clever.
I have to agree with >>5429368 though. The humanoid skeleton face looks a little out of place now. Unless uncanny valley is what you're going for.
Is the bottom half of the tail attached to the top section in any way? If not, it seems kind of flimsy around there. Maybe try experimenting in connecting the two halves more.
Also, there's quite a few exposed balljoints in the torso and I'd attempt finding a way to cover or tidy those up.
Yes the tail is flimsy as fuck, I have no idea how to connect the top and bottom parts. I also have no clue on what to put on those empty ball joints without adding unnecessary bulk. Any ideas?
so I blew about $65 on the 2016 Pohatu and Lewa, plus their and Onua's creatures.
how much am I going to need to fix? because Gali needed longer limbs. are the other two going to be just as bad? or worse?
Gali is the worst set of the wave, Onua really doesnt require any fixes at all, Pohatu is more or less perfect from a build standpoint and only has issues with color scheme so swap out shells if need be, Lewa has a nice consistent color scheme but short upper arms you might need to find a fix for.
The gray one had a knee/elbow ball bone, that type of joint connection isn't as easy to pose as the one used on his other arm (which makes posing very easy, albeit unrealistic), but it is a lot stronger and better able to hold a pose, they put it the arm that has to be near the beefy end up his weapon to support the weight, and then in order to make posing not a complete nightmare, gave him the other type of connection for his other arm.
This is honestly fine, but I think they should have swapped that gray bone out for a purple one from Korgot / Onua 2015 so that it didnt look as out of place.
Haven't seen anyone post this fix here before so I thought I would; simple fix for Grievous' shitty ankles, so far seems to work well.
>easy to accidentally fire
I'm still annoyed that I lost one of Korgot's studs while trying to pose her. When I was building Ekimu today, I heard a stud fly past my ear. While I could replace Ekimu's studs if they got lost, my Korgot didn't come with spare studs.
>Thanks, but I totally stole that gear claw idea from another MOC. I hope the original guy doesn't mind. :/
Eh. Who cares? If they put it on the internet, they should expect to inspire others with their designs. That's how shit happens.
>my Korgot didn't come with spare studs
That seems impossible. All of the Protectors come with at least an entire second set. I doubt Lego would forget to pack in a whole SIX or SEVEN extra parts.
These pieces range from like 12 years of bionicle history.

Mask of Water mold is in final stages
>decide to use space heater to get bubbles out of silicone
>holy shit this is amazing, bubbles are coming out like fish for bread crumbs
>remember my mold box is sealed with hot glue
>manage to take it away from heater and re-seal it before leaking became a terrible problem
Well, it's nice to see that we may soon have trans blue Masks of Water at reasonable prices. Do you know if your setup allows for dual colour masks? I want a drained gold Mask of Water.
Does anyone have this yet? Is it worth it?
I oriented the sprues so that that should be possible, will have to see later.
Oh hey, that's where I got my inspiration from!
Finally got around to that potato mod posted a few threads ago. Props anon, looks wonderful. Thanks for sharing.
Just finished planning a MOC that won't have any Trans Blue in it (fukken finally). Hopefully all the parts aren't too expensive on Bricklink.
How's that Buff Chirox coming along? Did I help at all with the ideas I threw your way?
>piraka webbed feet in white
Good luck with that
Here is my revamped version of Umarak, hope you guys like him!
If anyone wants to play the new app and has an android, here are some links to get it
This one's just for running an xapk
Lego Digital Designer, free official software from lego, Bionicle / HF parts selection is pretty limited though, if I had to guess it's parts selection for constraction is like, 2009-2014
Yeah, but it doesnt update very frequently, there was a post yesterday or something that said it was going to be discontinued, but they later clarified they meant no automatic updates or something, and will still add newer parts at their leisure.
After playing this for about thirty minutes, I can safely say it gets pretty difficult pretty quickly if you're trying to three star everything. A lot of it's just frustrating, like when the swarm enemies attack or when you're forced to block so you end up taking damage with no way to prevent it
shit, are we showing off pohatus?
i havent gotten the full '16 set, but heres my mine
