Rest In Peace, LDD. You were a useful friend.
So, does anyone know if Ldraw has bionicle/ccbs parts? Or are we basically just fucked?
Someone on TTV said he completed the game.
Umarak unites with Ketar, destroys green crystal thing and claims MoCo. Makuta appears and asks for Umarak to give it to him but at the last second Umarak refuses, puts on the mask and becomes the destroyer.
Just saw the screenshots posted, Umarak being able to rise out of the ground with cool shadow powers is neat, skeptical on this whole "different leg design" thing since the image is so vague.
Cool plot twist though, Umarak confirmed for coolest and most complex villain.
What's it say above the door? AHRE? What the fuck does that mean? Why have an alphabet if you're just going to throw random letters together?
Actually, that first character doesn't look like any of the letters, really. Halp.
Really hope this means we get some kind of rework of UtD in the final product or the pose is to blame for his mediocre looks. I have a feeling those legs arent the actual set, since I doubt they would change back to greivous' design for a digitigrade leg design so quickly / drastically change from what they were, but all this buildup and stuff looks really cool for what looks like a mediocre villain on the box.
Yeah, you can make out the horns (as well as the face of course in that last panel), plus the claws look kinda similar, the spikes on his back are also present in the leak, but their positioning is wrong. We will probably have to wait until toyfair to know for sure what's up.
The balljoints are on-level, yes, but that's the case with Grievous' foot as well.
Especiall if all that's being used is what's in pic related, which is likely because why bother dealing with the whole set if all you need is a 3/4 shot of a foot?
I was referring to how I didn't see the hole above the balljoint on the bone in the front. Either way its a weird choice to use Greivous' lower legs for here. It's like they knew they wanted to make legs similar to his, and then decided to backtrack on that and make them shit.
Would that scene where Ketar is united with Umarak be a slight hint towards Ahkmou? Both are brown and aided the forces of darkness to achieve their goals. Then again I could just see a parallel where there isn't.
>tfw lego will never come up with a good looking but also stable leg design for leg types like Grievous and Umarak
>tfw because they are so shit at it, we will only ever get generic humanoids
>Lol let's give the guy who hates scorpions a giant scorpion that straps to his back!
The Toa are the ones at fault here. Ketar was probably driven away by Pohatu's rabid shitposting.
So after battling depression for months and doing nothing but sleeping I checked out the local Lego shop for the first time. They had a deal for like $20 you could basically do pick a brick but for a big gallon zip lock bag. Thought I would just get bunch of random Bionicle pieces and build something when I got home, but somewhere along the way I ended up going full autism and just built this guy at the store. He's probably my first real moc, but I was pretty stoked once he was finished. I didn't have access to every color of every part so some is mismatched. What do you guys think?
>His Toa hates him
>Gunmetal Unity piece
>Dark Brown which Umarak has more of then Pohatu
>That one image way back when where anon was putting all the creatures on Umarak and we thought he looked really cool with Ketar
We should have seen this coming, Uxar was a ruse.
>listen here u little shit
It's a Mom and Pop store in my mall, really nice old couple.
For some reason I gave it a Dead Space life counter underneath the back hood.
I think they also kind of buy lots from people who want to sell them. Only their minifigs and complete sets were actually like displayed, all of their pick a brick/play stuff was in a big table.
>Ketar pulls an Ahkmou
>is present when UtH puts on MoCo
>yfw a Legends of Metru Nui Makuta happens and he gets sucked in
>yfw UtD's arm claws are Ketar's legs
Hey /biog/, I've been thinking of writing a story based on G1 lore, and I wanted some feedback.
1) What should the setting be? I was thinking of setting it on Bara Magna, several thousand years after the Matoran migrate over. It would show the numerous tribes of Bara Magna clashing with Matoran culture and their ways of living
2) Pic related will most likely be the focus, and if not then he/she will be a character at some point. I was thinking of making them a Glatorian who is linked to Takua somehow since they wear the same mask (Maybe they idolize him after hearing stories about him). Alternatively, they could be a Toa, but I prefer a protagonist who uses their wits and skill to survive as opposed to elemental and mask powers
3) Would any of you like to collaborate? I'm more of an ideas and planning type of guy, and writing isn't exactly my strong suit. [nospoilers] We would probably have to communicate on BZPower or some other website, though, because I don't want to make a new email or post my personal one on 4chan[/nospoilers]
4) Are there any characters from G1 you'd like to see make a reappearance? Keep in mind it'll have to be characters who were still alive (or presumed to be alive) at the end of G1.
>Nidhiki was a Toa who defected to the dark hunters, mutated into a freak, and eventually absorbed into Teridax's power
>Ketar was an ally of the Toa who defected, joined up with Shadow Hunter the Hunter, and we can assume he was absorbed into Shadow Hunter the Destroyer's power
So to summarize: Ketar is potentially a stone based small set (like Ahkmou) who is a scorpion-like ex-ally of the Toa that defects to follow a Shadow (Dark) Hunter (like Nidhiki.)
Now that I'm looking at the beasts, I think I'm starting to like them all
Even Magma beast.
Thinking of them as horde enemies makes them really work for me in the same way that the skull warriors and skorpios are better as horde enemies. GOOOD SHIT
Also, since UtD probably got his poison and trans neon green from Ketar, do you think this means he has super speed and camo?
>I read that as 'do pigs eat cum'?
time to get off the internet
Tip out the boxes and spread out the pile so we can get a better idea of the apron worth of the lot. And you should probably put on a trip/put an email in the email field so people know they're talking to you/ can contact you.
>"Hello Biog. My name is Borok. I'm a mine worker in the region of earth. And I'd like to tell you my story. Will you listen?"
Alright, I'm not gonna spam the thread anymore.
My email is firstname.lastname@example.org
>"..Got it. Anyways, so life goes on, there's Skull Spiders, Korgot goes off to the temple of time and summons the Toa. Blah blah blah, you all know that part."
>"The thing is, is that Korgot left with the big guy."
>"Korgot's our protector."
>"What happens when there's skull spiders, in our village, and our protector is out looking for a mask that may or may not exist."
>"No. There village is overrun in under a few hours because nobody knows how to fire a gatling gun correctly."
>"A good 80% of the village bit the dust that night, Thanks Korgot."
Holy crap that's a lot of people biting the dust, that must have been such a... sheer heart attack
But geez, in all seriousness, your leader just left you there? She's more of a... killer queen... than a protector
>Only their minifigs and complete sets were actually like displayed, all of their pick a brick/play stuff was in a big table
I have one simular to that in a "city" near me, and by near I mean more than 2 hour drive.
Also, they have people come in and build sets, so I got chunks of a complete Makuta 03 and part of the takanuva vechicle set from 03 in from their "Building In Progress" bin, which was a steal. I also bought a blind Cahdok and a Gadok with it's stopping function thing missing.
>With the name "minifigs" being relatively similar as well
The place near me also has minifig in the name,.
Nuk Nuk has found his long lost older brother, Fuk Fuk! Hooray!
I remember a couple of guys on here a long while ago asking if someone has made one of those dog things that were with Pohatu in the comic, so I recently built these.
If anyone's got a different head design or tips for mine feel free to reply.
>Walmarts selling new sets for reduced prices
For what purpose? They aren't selling like shit, are they?
>tfw both walmarts near my college have 2015 sets but have stopped stocking Bionicle sets entirely
I feel you anon
>nearest walmart is around an hour away
>other plans lead me there yesterday
>recently stocked lego aisle
>oh boy they might have bonkle
>a tiny, one box wide portion of the shelves devoted to bonkle
>it contained tahu and onua 2015, and 2 skull slicers
Amazon it is
I also did a quick rebuild of Pohatu to kinda go with them. And thanks to the anon who did the kick ball thing on his Pohatu, I really liked the idea of that as a weapon.
There's just something about finding a desired toy in person. I've tried to abandoned this with my distance from bigger retailers but with bionicle I can't help myself. I did order Tahu and Pohatu already and got them in about a week ago, but I was hoping I'd find some more out and about
I realized I won't have much room for my 2016 sets so I'm getting rid of them in the BST if anyone's interested. Sucks, I was starting to dig them.
If you're okay with modding his arms or you're fine with how he is, then go for Lewa. Otherwise, I'd get Onua.
They're both really good, though, so don't let me discourage you from getting both.
Yeah I did plan on modding his arms. Pohatu's I've actually learned to be okay with but Lewa's look really stubby. I've thought Onua looks the best of the bunch since day 1 though so idk.
>Thinking about binging on mask packs when I have money
>They're 9 bucks a pop on bricklink
>Individual masks are like 3-6 dollars
>Mask packs stopped being a thing when 2004 rolled around
I blame metru skulls.
I wanna buy 2016 Pohatu and his buddy already, but if I wait two more weeks I can get a free Fortrex from the lego store if I blow an extra $15.
What really stabs my balls is that even with the popularity of CMFs, mask packs will never be a thing. Why is Lego so insecure about Bionicle?
They fucking made Simpsons CMFs for crying out loud.
I still don't understand the point of uniting with Ketar
I wanna say there was a decline starting from the hordika era onwards.
2005 was no doubt a terrible, terrible year with a couple gleaming examples of quality shining through (like Keetongu and the Toa Hagah), but I'd pin 2008 to be the fall of Bionicle G1. The brittle joints, the really half assed nostalgia pandering, the introduction of the fucking av matoran build, ect.
2003 > 2002 > 2007 > 2006 > 2001 > 2004 > 2009 > 2008 > 2005 > 2010
The worst part about '08 was the Phantoka and Mistika were originally going to be their own Toa teams but it was decided that bringing the Mata squad back would boost sales so the Phantoka and Mistika became them retroactively, post-design. This is also why their designs have absolutely no relation to the characters they portray. It's a shame because they're practically a blight on the Mata squad, design wise. I like to pretend they aren't canon.
Oh and I forgot to mention that 08 pretty much started the trend of gappy looking titans, and big specialized chunks of plastic instead of new parts that were actually interesting, and big fuckoff """""vehicles""""" that were basically really complicated and expensive Technic functions that you'd """""fly""""" or roll across the ground to attempt to gleam some kind of fun out of them.
Really? Now I hate 08 even more.
Pretty damn sure that was proven completely false. When asked, I think Greg confirmed the Phantoka/Mistika were always meant to be the Nuva. Also, if you read the books, the Nuva were still present and fully intended to return to the forefront of the story as early as 2006.
>that were basically really complicated and expensive Technic functions that you'd """""fly""""" or roll across the ground to attempt to gleam some kind of fun out of them.
You mean like the Rahi? Fuck off with that.
>Comparing the Rahi to BigMcLargeHuge chunks of Technic like the Axalara T9 and the Scorpio XV-1
The Rahi weren't heavy and impossible to casually mess around with like 08-09 vehicle titans are.
I can't tell if you're ranking these years based on story or sets, but either way I have trouble taking your list seriously when you rank 2003 (the year that includes the Bohrok Kal. mind you) at the very height. Might want to wipe the fog from those nostalgia goggles, buddy.
The list is ranked based on how much I enjoyed those years.
And I happen to really, really like 03. Call it shit taste, but I even like the Bohrok-Kal. They felt like the Bohrok Swarm's answer to Toa, at least in the comics.
What kind of world would anybody assume Kopaka's a toa of air? I mean, I get it if they were looking at 08 Kopaka, but 02 Kopaka has a weird ski spear thing that tells you immediately that this fucker's ice type, and 01 Kopaka just looks like a white knight with a scope. And the only thing that potentially links Pohatu to Lightning is the Kanohi Kakama making him quick as lightning, which is a pretty laughable and pathetic way to connect a character's ability to their supposed type.
4/6 try again.
I honestly don't understand the ice/water and stone/earth problems.
Ice controls solid, water controls liquid
Stone controls minerals (inorganic), earth controls soil (organic)
How is this difficult?
Share your favourite MOCs you've made, and tell us a bit about them. I wanna see what you've got.
This guy is Lenko, the Shaman Protector. Super simple, since I'm not very good at MOCing. I really like how the color scheme turned out though.
so this is how the beast's legs are built right?
I couldnt tell which way QBs are so I made 2
>Lava Beast's legs are 6 pieces each
>Stone controls minerals (inorganic), earth controls soil (organic)
99% of the way it's been presented in the past, "Stone" is physical control of rock and sand.
Meanwhile, "Earth" is primarily mastery over seismics with some dirt-o-mancy and "tectonic resistance" thrown in for good measure.
What's a "bionicles?" These big lego animals are pretty cool though I guess
HOLY SHIT AGAIN
Huh...kinda slow, but the lore is interesting
...the movie was interesting, I guess.
Sets still great
...that movie was interesting, I guess.
When all you got to keep is strong, move along, move along...
...LIKE I KNOW YA DOOO
Oh snap, shit just got interesting!
Oh shit, my interesting just got snapped. RIP lime green
>Winter 2008-Summer 2010
What's a "bionicles?"
Not gonna lie, I actually really like how these strips look, they remind me of the Piraka comic style games, but I'm also excited to see if they take Bionicle in a more serious direction again and actually make cool characters, instead of the horrible slapstick shit in the 2015 animations.
Here's hoping that the Netflix series will be less of a joke have good story telling, I seriously miss how cool they made the Toa in the old media, I want to see them as capable warriors again.
I use eBay as my first option. Only issue I've had so far is a Korgot that was missing the spare studs. The rest was there, so I'm not bothered. I should be getting a £15 Ekimu and Kulta in a week or so.
Happy someone else like the boulder at the foot, the puppies look good, I really like the horn used as a tail on the small one.
Pic related is a reimagined Bordakh from my childhood, where we played with my friend in a universe similar to The Legend of Zelda with dungeons and ennemies to battle. My Bordakh was the hero of the play, using King Mathias' cape, the same cape (and head for that matter) used here. The most important thing about this moc is the fact that it needed to look like a creation you could more or less do ten years ago, with the G1 aesthetics.
>mfw read that as Turaga Merkel
I need to stop lurking on /pol/ so much.
Cursed Kulta is sad. How do we cheer up sad Kulta?
Also, please rate, no hate. Any tips on how to improve him?
Speaking as someone who had them as a kid, they're okay but not amazing. Their builds are gappy, clunky, and awkward looking. The neck snap is cool, but if you can't part it out for less I'd probably give them a pass.
Watch out for damaged white onua claws if you buy them.
One the same note, is buying the manas and tarakavas worth it at the price you find them on bricklink? I'm a sort of completionist tho, they're the only sets I'm missing from the first four years.
I scored Manas a year or so ago for 60€, while missing few not integral parts and the rubber bands.
For that price, they're amazing. The gimmick is fun, even if I consider some Rahi a bit better.
Manas are amazing, and IMO they're well worth the price. That said, they were the only early set I didn't have as a kid, so my love of them might come from that.
This is correct. They use the white bands, though, which are more durable than the black ones in Muaka and Kane-Ra. Speaking of which, anyone know a good way to source more of those?
>Speaking of which, anyone know a good way to source more of those?
More of what? SOULS TO TEMPT?!
Nice try, Satan.
But in all seriousness, you can pick up rubber bands that size from pretty much any craft store (eg. Michael's).
They'll be called "loom bands" and the like and come in packs of about a billion for ~$3
I would confirm this, but I removed most of the jaw opening feature and replaced it with a couple of gears because it looked too complicated for something that simply opened and closed. I only knew about the snapping afterwards.
With Muaka and Kane-Ra you at least had the option of opening their jaws slowly. The Bahrag only work if you snap their heads forward with force, so that the gears grind against each other. It's crude as fuck, whereas Muaka and Kane-Ra have all those Technic parts and rubber bands working together to close the jaw at the right moment.
On the other hand, the Bahrag have bodies.
Are there others who saw these "nostrils" as the Vahki eyes and not the actual eyes? I mean, they even frown and everything...
What the fuck am I doing? part 2: am I done yet?
No, but on the topic of misinterpretation, I never made the connection that the trans parts were eyes until just recently. They looked really menacing as faceless machines, but now they just look silly.
Man, if you think you feel silly, imagine how I feel
Nah, man. Bohrok are blind, they have no eyes, just weird accent colors on the sides of the domes to indicate !DANGER! to any unlucky soul who gets in their way. Kinda like a warning signal or something.
>sinking into the shadows like that
Guys, I found Umarak's theme:
>nobody rotates kulta's horns down at a 45% angle
shit looks excellent but nobody has any taste
My Kulta's not assembled and I can't find the skull mask, but maybe this shitty mspaint mouse doodle helps
I like Kopaka, but I only have found one pose for him that works, and it isn't an action pose. He is like a templar, holding his sword upsidedown and on the ground, his shield covering his hands.
Onua with the drill has shittons of fun poses.
What to do with lime?
I have a bunch of lime CCBS shells lying around, but I don't know which color I should match them with. Lime actually looks pretty boring on its own to me, I get the feeling it'd look better as accent.
On the topics of rare masks, what about shit like pic related that was only available in combiner sets?
>mfw I will never own anything this rare
this pisses me off
why would you not spread it through the community?
Got inspired by the anon you built the bulky Ekimu (pic related, that's their Ekimu) to build a Makuta to go with him, even if I had to take Kralox Chum apart to do it.
I'm surprised some details of that photo are too dark to see. You've got a lightbox setup, so I don't know why that's happened.
MOC itself looks alright so far. Looks unfinished though, without a weapon.
Tried making Umarak a bit more bestial... How'd I do?
Sup /biog/, what does a monthly haul look like for you guys? I posted a similar pic shortly after Christmas, figured I'd share an updated one since almost everything is in now.
To the man who made that skull scorpion MOC here is a basic build of a functioning staff similar to his build. It's gotta have those grey pieces on the axes or its gets fucked.
>also I need more Robo-Tupac.
How are you supposed to avoid getting hit in the new game? Sometimes the enemies don't really even signal their attacks and I still just get knocked right the fuck down. Anyone have advice? Umarak the Hunter is fucking trashing me.
>Actually getting Solek
Trying to spite the fags at TTV, I'm assuming?
Well I hate to be the bearer of bad news... I am currently back at school, and didn't have any room for RoboTupac. I'll take some more pics when I get back and probably update it
Also sorry for the tripfagging, but it felt necessary in case any more questions pop up.
Question. What size tires do people use in their mocs and how easily do they come off?
A running joke on the channel is that they hate Solek for being the least interesting and ugly of the already ugly and boring Av Matoran.
Bionicle Podcast with a little tumblr community thing to go with it, they were pretty good back during the first 2015 leaks but started taking themselves too seriously and have kinda turned into BZP 2.0, one of the members hates Solek so a bunch of the community members decided to turn Solek into some meme cult thing and annoy the entire Bionicle community even outside of the TTV message boards with that shit.
Pretty good. Though honestly my personal problem with Umarak has been his hands, I feel like his hands should have been something more claw-like or menacing, but Lego continues to refuse to make new hand pieces.
Witch doctor I haven't named.
Don't ask for more pictures, I'm 'bout to sleep.
I got Kylo Ren for $20 because the box was damaged. I'm a bit underwhelmed by the set, it's very light and the torso build is a bit flat. Still tempted to buy an extra just for parts and to give dear Ol Grandpa a gearbox.
Not sure what I'd do with the extra parts. Add them on to Onua?
actually it looks much better with thumbs
>see these cool red markings? I got them from the Makuta as rewards for killing stupid heroes!
>each skull represent five children who cried because of me! I call them my 'mad skiulls'. Get it?
Tried integrating Kylo Ren bits to Onua. The cape fits over the uniter slots pretty good.
Kylo Ren in general was awful, but my big brother fucking loved him after watching Ep 7. His birthday was a couple weeks ago, so I got him a really big 20 inch tall Kylo Ren figurine. He loved it, but I should of gotten him the CCBS Kylo instead. It would of spared me the embarrassment of walking out of Walmart with a big Kylo Ren dollbaby in my arms.
I more just meant the set for him, seeing as we are in the CCBS general and not shitposting on /tv/. The sets are all clones this time, I'm just angry at Kylo because Vader and Grevious were so good. But I'm with you, those 20 inch figures are the weirdest things. I don't understand who buys them.
That tire's 2x2 so and smooth so this is it. https://alpha.bricklink.com/pages/clone/catalogitem.page?P=3139&idColor=11#T=C&C=11 It'll come off fairly easy. There's an anon here who made a Toa of Water fisherman-like moc and used a lot of tires. He could probably tell you more about it. You could try asking for his advice in this (and probably the next) thread.
>tfw I downloaded the original version from Bionicle.com before they replaced it with the shitty censored version
I always liked to think the singer was Mata Nui talking to Makuta, despite the female voice.
So this arrived today. The comic is really nice I have to say. I got the hardcover one, does the paperback also have such nice paper for the pages?
How do I separate these two?
They seem stuck together, does this happen with every lightsaber piece or i'm just unlucky?
suspended posing is hard as shit
It's a side story that follows the Protectors in their quest to double check LoSS' death. It also does a little bit of world building, introduces another Jungle villager, and confirms that Grinder and Basher are still alive and will be a permanent exhibit in the forge.
Its pretty good, between it and Gathering of the Toa we got a solid amount of worldbuilding and lore and what have you, Revenge of the Skull Spiders was definitely better than the first book.
In the past month, I got Korgot, two Hero Packs, a second Lewa 2015 and a bag containing another Lewa, a near-complete Pohatu 2015 and half of Gali 2015. This morning, I received Ekimu and Kulta. I'm working on completing the 2015 waves before getting any of the new sets.
