MOTHERFUCKIN' UW BRUTICUS Edition
TAKARA WINS AGAIN
HASBRO-FAGS ON SUICIDE WATCH
Stale bread >>>5416488
I'm not a fan of Vortex's blades, unless they can fold up or something, they seem to get in the way of his bot mode.
Blastoff looks cool, but I'd love to see better pictures of him. Can't say that I regret getting the Hasbro Blastoff because I'm not seeing that big of a difference in the profile in arm mode (which is how he'll forever stay). I'm also fairly sure we'll eventually get a US release of the figure (as well as Groove), so if my OCD gets too bad about it, I'll just get that.
Let’s take Jesus off the dashboard.
Got enough on his mind. When will this come out? That blastoff is looking good!
Vortex should at least have detachable rotor blades. I'm glad I waited for this!
In-hand pic of the upcoming junkion set hotrod
Wish there was a better picture of that robot mode for Blast Off. Looks a little funky.
But I'll be displaying Brut in combined mode anyway so it hardly matters to me.
So now it's just a case of waiting to see when/if Takara will do Victorion, Computron and Liokaiser. That's it, right?
I wouldn't be surprised if the toy designers hate Rodimus.
You'd think that since the comic he stars in is so successful they'd make a new mold, but no, reuse of an almost 10-year old toy that aged like soggy bread or head swap with a scout class to plug into a combiner.
Then again, why would we want one? Generations is over and if Hasbro did make a new Hot Rod, he'd be a hollow mess with blocky limbs and subpar articulation.
Will we ever see the glory days of 2010 again?
everyone still blames him for Optimus's death.
it hurts being a fan of him.
Blast off has double jointed elbows and a new gun(?).
Kind of wish onslaught got a double pair of guns so that Bructicus could have the back cannons and the rifle, but maybe the set will come with a Shockwave for his Legend buddy.
>retail release rather than a mall one
I'm really glad I haven't bothered picking up any of the Combaticons yet. Still might get Slingblast to build Galvatronus or something though.
The whole design seems to be very tolerance-based according to various reports of owners of the Hasbro mold. Some peoples' can't clip in well, others' can.
Blast Off's chest looks kinda weird, honestly. But I have a weakness for shuttleformers.
Also don't like how low Vortex's blades sit, but I'm sure it could be fixed with modding, and he's a sell for me if he's toon colors rather than the rainbow colors Hasbro used on their deco.
Well, I'm hyped, because I don't own a Hot Rod yet. Long time collectors can bitch all they want, this is good for people just starting out to nab old favorites that are impossible to fucking get ahold of for a reasonable price.
That HR mold is $50-70 just by itself for the older versions if you're looking for new and not some used POS kept in someones pet and smoke infested shithole.
Optimus was fucking holding back from finishing off Megatron.
a minute later Megatron would have shot him.
Better question is why is Swindle gray? That makes no sense at all. And Brawl's colors are completely off (way to go for toon accuracy Takara).
At least Onslaught and Vortex's colors are spot on. Can't really tell if Blastoff is the right shade of brown though, because the picture is too grainy. I like how the purple on his chest pops, though.
>How many times has this piece of shit mold been reused for Hotrod?
- 2006 original release
- 2009(?) two pack with Cyclonus
- 2011(?) clear blue version Takara release with Kup and Scrap Heap
- This new pack
Off the top of my head. I don't think there are any more, especially if we're talking about repaints. There MIGHT have been a straight-up re-release that I paid no attention to since I own all these goddamn re-releases for characters HR comes packaged with.
Plot twist: I don't even like Hot Rod.
I wonder how long before a re-releases of the Junkion and Protector add on Armors are announced ?
As opposed to what?
G1 cartoon he was a whining retard that rarely rose to the occasion
UK comic he was always needing help and tended to inadvertently make bad shit happen all the time.
Wasn't really in the US comic
>don't know what to do with him
Give him his own team to lead. Like, maybe, the 86 movie gang? In the same way the other bots naturally seem to seperate into certain groups?
Pic related to writers not knowing what to do with Hot Rod.
>mfw this doesn't even include the TFCC G2 Starscream and the upcoming Pre Beast Wars Terrorsaur reptain
Yes, there are actually people that prefer different things.
>"I'm happy to settle with mediocrity"
That's not how opinions work. YOU think Take-Off is mediocre. But someone that wants it probably wouldn't consider it mediocre.
I'm unpacking toys, and I had this moment where I was transforming a few things (Universe Stormcloud, Human Alliance Wreckers, Stratosphere, etc), and I just hit with this wave of apathy. Like there's a ton of toys I have that I just really don't care about or have fun with, and they've spent the better part of a year in storage... I might not even want them.
I'm unsure if I'll be culling things down, or even how I'll get rid of them when I do. Most of the things I want to part with nobody wants to buy (like DotM product or Universe Depth Charge), so... ever get like this, /toy/?
Honestly just sell them as a lot and be done with it
I have done such many times with no regrets
granted I don't know your money situation or how hard it is to ship things where you live so my advice might not be great
This is pretty obviously Terrorsaur using Funpub's go-to jet mold.
Why they didn't use the superior FoC seeker mold is beyond me. It makes zero sense to use not only use such an old/dated mold, but to have a damn F-16 flying around on an alien planet; especially when there's a better, more Cybertronian deluxe jet out there.
I would say if you NEED storage for figures, you have too many. Keep your collection to like, one to two versions of characters you like, and don't fall prey to "OOH I WANT IT MALIBU STACY HAS A NEW HAT" syndrome.
Eh, it wasn't really "oh shit no room" storage but more "moving house and can't unpack them until life improves".
Don't get me wrong, there's TONS of things. But I think it's time to thin the herd.
>mfw I fucking called it from the start
Granted, at this point it was pretty predictable with an established pattern by Takrara, but still.
>What mold do you think they used? Certainly not the retired one.
Are you saying the seeker mold has been retired? When exactly did that happen, because FP used it for G2 Starscream less than a year ago, dude.
Maybe, but based on the image, it looks an awful lot like the Classics Seeker mold.
Still makes no sense at all to use modern day vehicles as alt modes for Beast Wars characters; especially with all the FoC, Cybertron, and Energon molds to pick from.
>Modern Earth based harrier jet
>Flying around the skies of advanced robotic alien society millions of years in the future
Not shitposting. I guess I should clarify that I think the entire set looks like shit and makes zero sense. The colors are wrong (aside from Ravage) and the alt modes are ridiculous. Them making Terrorsaur into a harrier jet/F16 is just rubbing salt into the wound.
Anon you are trying way to hard.
The FoC molds make no sense either
It has a cockpit
They shouldn't have those
But again these are(supposed to be) fun toys that shouldn't be taken to the level you are trying too.
In all fairness Fun Pub was in a lose/lose
Celebrating BWs without putting emphases on CW would have hurt them. CWs is selling crazy good and already many of the club limbs preorders are sold out at places saying they will get them. Untied warriors is importing well, over all CW as a brand is working.
So I feel they were stuck at a losing position.
Personally I think the wisest would have been to celebrate BW but make all the toys CW guys such as the Wrecker Combiner Ruination or one inspired from the Micro Combiners.
Trying to work BW in CW was not so smart but this is Funpub...
That's not telling me why they should. FoC they hadn't even left the planets atmosphere/system.
I think at least 4 molds didn't have clear cockpits but that could always be argued
cars and what not no many of them either out right didn't or it could be interpreted as but wasn't clearly made as one .
>BW but make all the toys CW guys such as the Wrecker Combiner Ruination or one inspired from the Micro Combiners.
Fuck, I would have bought a CW Wrecker Ruination in a heart beat!
Also, evil trips m8
>That's not telling me why they should. FoC they hadn't even left the planets atmosphere/system.
Weren't Transformers made by the Quintessons to be transportation machines? Wouldn't it make sense to have a cockpit if a Quintesson decided he needed to hitch a ride?
Then we are right back to what we started and could say God made them to look like earth modes because he foresaw them arriving there
To do metal gymnastics for one but not the other is really telling of your bias
well terrosaur on cybertron would still be after the great war and after starscream and the seekers popularized the body type
who knows, maybe terrosaur used to be a seeker who joined beast megatron when they stole the golden disc
Given some bots are pretty small, and others have huge alt modes, it isn't much of a stretch to think those cockpits could be for the tinier bots to hitch a ride in, or be able to take control of the bigger bots for possibly finer movement at times.
>jet from the last two years
Is Prime Beast Hunters Starscream too old?
I think with the right paint and head it could look decent as a TM2 Megs. It's certainly big and imposing enough.
Inferno could fly, and I love that character, but him as a giant jet just sounds silly. I'll get it for sure if it's him, but it's still silly.
If Anon wants to fuck horses, let him fuck horses.
listen if you don't have the balls to say it's laser beak to an anonymous image I seriously doubt you have friends.
Seriously here's the reply you wanted now either get better material or off yourself and make the world a better place.
We all know it already
Waspinator from CW Legends Powerglide with Minibot Cyberbee
Optimus Primal from CW Optimus Prime
Megatron from CW Onslaught
Rhinox from CW Rook
Cheetor from CW Breakdown
Terrorsaur, BW Laserbeak and Fractyl from CW Aerialbot mold
Golden Ticket Figure:
Buzzsaw from CW Legends Powerglide
Transmetal Tigatron from Boxset Ravage
I think I just figured out what the big ticket item at Botcon will be.
If that head is still around that is.
Has anyone here fixed their Blackarachnia? How did you take out the rivets holding the spider legs on?
The issue you are failing at here is understanding the monetary value and secondary market.
You cant really invest in a secondary market with beer, cigarettes or hookers because two are consumables and one is a service.
I get your saying people blow money on questionable things but that doesn't justify the actions. People normally don't blow 30 times over the value on a single beer or pack of cigs. And most people don't spend 30 times the going rate of a hooker, (at that rate you be cheaper getting a mail order bride)
And most people would find blowing money on toys questionable but blowing 30 times the retail amount on a toy because it's "rare" is very questionable. Your money? Absolutely but that doesn't magically bar you from criticisms of how wasteful it is.
And hell any time I hear defenses like "everything is wasteful" or "it's all pointless" I wonder if they are just trying to block out that voice telling them they just overspent or fuck up their living arrangements for plastic that likely cost 1/15th the value paid.
Toys don't work like that. They have a very shaky market that demands finding the buyer willing to pay the cost and usually it still doesn't justify the time and energy put into it. Most of the time working minimum wage will equate to better profits than trying to flip toys on the secondhand market.
On top of that toys crash in value once open and if you are not then planning to fly/drive in, to lose hours both in travel time and in lines just to get something you may flip for double what you paid in cash in isn't a good strategy.
Really it's why Funpub is getting phased out, their market isn't really working at getting the fans on board and makes most roll their eyes at what they are getting for the cost.
Also any car collector will tell you they have standers on costs they will pay if
there intent is to flip, they are not careless and blow millions on a car model because it's paint coat is 'rare'.
I dunno man, I mean sure it's a 100% new mold in this line for a limb but damn if that doesn't look like ass.
So fucking bottom heavy.
I really don't remember Blastoff looking that shitty on the cartoon.
The alt mode is good, the head sculpt is good...but that bot mode is...questionable.
Think I'll stick with the Hasbro version.
very much so
GPS usually happens for any shade of yellow short of bright crayon yellow.
They try and try and swear every time they have it figured out but every mold has degraded so far due to the yellow/gold plastics it's made of
Look at BW Randy he's close to the same shade.
expect between 2 and 4 years for this to be CWG2 Slingshot's fate
Don't mind Sky Is Falling Anon >>5421950 since no one knows. But my guess is he is fine. He doesn't look similar to any old gold toys I've ever owned.
But your analysis is spot-on. I had many weird Spidey toys and G2 TFs as a kid, so I love this aesthetic. Superion is the best CW combiner, the colors are radical 2 the max, the price is good, and mine has really tight joints (way tighter than my original Aerialbots pre-floor polish) and overall great QC.
I'll second this.
Honestly, I don't see why people are so shocked to see Blastoff looks like shit. It's not like Takara Groove's bot mode was any good either. People are so stuck on worshiping any turd Takara shits out that they'll convince themselves that figures like Groove are better than Rook, and that this Blastoff is the greatest thing since sliced bread.
>another limb guy that doesn't have the same port chest
>those cool thruster feet
>NOT A FUCKING JET
I like it
Uh, Any chance Fansproject can somehow blow up and rework their munitioner mold? I don't even care that it needs kibble to connect to the torso at least it'll look better than this thing.
Wait, you seriously think Groove is better than Rook?
I mean, Groove's alt mode is decent enough, but the bot mode looks like shit. Rook has ankle tilts, looks like a brawler, and has a top tier head sculpt. What's not to like about Rook?
right that's why red plastics are getting more stress marks
no way are corners being cut more not less
Seriously I doubt Hasbro is using good plastic on that when most CW limbs get stress marks stupid easy.
Look at this sexy motherfucker. Goddamn the preorders can't come soon enough.
>upright ape mode
Other than that bot mode looks great. Beast mode looks good sans all dem panels which admittedly are rather unavoidable. Though it makes me wonder, even though we all joked about that one awful fur-covered custom if there was some type of light fur material on the gorilla parts if they might have helped camouflage the seams.
Damn, he's out already? I hate the G2 color schemes, but I'm glad you got what you wanted, Anon.
Thats why the early botcon sets are triple the value right? Im not talking about cars retard and if I bought an expensive high retail car in the 60's and waited 20 years I could flip it for quite a penny provided its in a nice condition
Nope. One has translucent plastic, two non HFG weapons, and pinned wheels. Which one is it?
I'll give you a hint: it's not Rook
The bot mode looks fine. Rook's ankle tilts don't add much and I'd rather have legs that aren't freakishly hollow looking than ankle tilts.
I'd rather have a hippie motorcycle dude that the other members can ride over a brawler on a PROTECTobot team.
The closest thing to in-scale fur would be to flock it, but that won't last forever. In a couple decades it'll start to wear off.
Plus the in the show there was no fur. I mean, yes it was a limitation of the graphics, but still.
Yuck, that robot mode looks horrible in every way.
Well, I guess I'll just keep them in Bruticus mode.
The problem with GPS is it doesn't matter if you're rough or not.
One sour far from a fruit fly 3 rooms away will see a GPS figure crack in half like something out of an anime cut by a katana folded 60 quintillion times.
>Thats why the early botcon sets are triple the value right?
woo weee 600~1000 from something that cost 250 10 years ago and is selling at a rate of about twice a month(at best because the 05 and 08 sets has dived over the years)
>Im not talking about cars
>Car collector pays
If your a shitposter work on your martial
>if I bought an expensive high retail car in the 60's and waited 20 years I could flip it for quite a penny provided its in a nice condition
yes but you walk around what I showed which is the fact that the toy market doesn't work the same. People don't value toys on the same level. Most don't want old toys and the collector market that does is very niche in and of itself
What they do have in common though is you have to find that buyer otherwise you are just sitting on trash. At least with a car you can drive it and work on it without risking the value to any great deal.
I get it
You are proud you wasted 250+ and could flip it in 10 years to pay about the value of a month or two of rent. But that doesn't change that FunPubs market is really stupid collector or buyer a like to stay a float.
Hell look what happen to RID Scourge from the Club store. Takara made him too, better paint apps and price. You have completely fuck up your market when it's cheaper for you fans to buy over seas to get a better product.
>because the 05 and 08 sets has dived over the years
9 and 10 are dropping hard too
It's almost like comic books now where you have to flip the product in a couple of years or you just start losing money on it.
800 profit from a boxed set of non retail figures is a damn good flip but keep going wowee like the autist that you are and yes toy aftermarket works exactly the same as car aftermarket is the piece pristine? Chances are you can flip it for a good price to another collector especially if its an older piece, only difference with cars is instead of 10 years to flip ala a botcon set, it takes 20-30 and no I don't buy sets unless I know I can flip them. Go ahead and flip a retail combiner war item in 10 years and tell me the difference compared to the botcon set being flipped
>800 profit from a boxed set of non retail figures is a damn good flip
not when it takes 10 years to earn. You could have made the same amount working a desk job for a couple of months or less. Hell minimum wage in two months would ensure that. You think 10+ years waiting for that kind of growth is good?
>keep going wowee like the autist that you are
says the person who is trying to convince me flipping plastic toys for decades is a good investment of time.
>yes toy aftermarket works exactly the same as car aftermarket
You have never sold a car.
>instead of 10 years to flip ala a botcon set, it takes 20-30
again, you have never flip or dealt with the car market. I flip a 09 Honda fit for almost double the price in 2011 thanks to the high demand for fuel efficient cars. You have no god damn idea how crazy wild the car market works.
>Go ahead and flip a retail combiner war item in 10 years and tell me the difference compared to the botcon set being flipped
It works about the same
Major/desired characters go for about 3 more the msrp everything else floats close to msrp or double at best if it wasn't open.
Listen if you do it for fun whatever but to try and state with a straight face that it's worth the effort is laughable at best.
>Go ahead and flip a retail combiner war item in 10 years and tell me the difference compared to the botcon set being flipped
I bought 10 wave 1 CW deluxe figures for $10 when they were on clearance and have sold 6 of them for $50+ each the last couple of months
that's 400% profits that didn't require me to go through funny games of a sign up sheet, drop an ass load of cash upfront, and wait years to get the same effect.
>not when it takes 10 years to earn
Jesus, you sound like the only thing he does is sit on it like mother hen, waiting for it to hatch. Buying and reselling collectables as part of your hobby in addition to, y'know, the whole goddamn rest of your life, getting an $800 flip on a single purchase is a good deal.
I have never said nor implied that.
I'm showing the ignorance of his stance on the subject. He kept comparing it to cars which works a lot faster and with better results
He try selling it like it was a good way to make money which again, it isn't.
and all of this started because someone was trying to justify blowing $300 bucks to get a rare $10 scout sized figure. Which was compared to drugs and prostitution, then to cars.
I really have no issue that people blow insane amounts on toys(otherwise why would I be here) it's more when they can't do it honestly I take issue.
Including shipping, Bruti is likely to cost me in the vicinity of 300 local dollars. Whether or not he's worth it will come down to overall Bruticus deco, as well as the decos of the others.
At most it might hurt articulation with the head, but they may keep it all in the head.
Also the faceplate was only in the show for like 10 seconds. Probably not a major thought for them.
earlier today I felt some pretty bad buyer's remorse for jumping the gun with Hasbro Blast Off
I don't feel it anymore, but I'll still look into third party options for his stupid head.
Hasbro Blast Off is not a bad toy. His deco is easily that mold's best, and the mols itself is good apart from the shitty weapons integration.
It's just a shitty Blast Off. I call him Take Off and treat him like the 5th guy, like Rook and co.
I bought hasbro blast off for a generic limb / generic con, now I'm considering making hasbro bruticus... Guess I'll wait to see if I like the UW colors more and if I can find the white chest Onslaught
The Arielbot molds as a whole I didn't like.
Hasbro's Blast Off has hips that are too tiny and I hate the fact his arms don't lock down in arm mode, but the only thing I find downright offensive about him is his head.
thankfully there's third party options for that.
> repainted from another mould in the set
> would go with someone else in the set
It's Laserbeak. Because Funpub are fucking autists who can't even make an entire year's worth of toys fit a fucking theme. Yes, there was a BW "Lazorbeak" and no, he wasn't these fucking colours
What does /co/ have to do with Beast Wars, cuckboi?
Why do you post this whenever anybody posts anything that isn't a toy press release? You realize there's more to Transformers than just that, right? You should really fuck off to collect 3A or something if you want contextless action dolls.
Speaking of which, has anybody caught up on the most recent IDW books? What do you think of them? For as popular as MTMTE is, I really think I might prefer RiD.
>If you like partsforming you deserve a bullet to the head.
Dude, holy shit. It's just a toy preference. Nothing's worth a bullet to anything, let along a toy and to the head.
Talk about hate. Dayum.
