Matt the radar technician edition.
Let's try and keep everything Star Wars in here.
Is the BS Kylo Ren w/ Star Killer base meant to have texturing on the shawl? Because when I looked him up online it seemed like it was meant to be smooth but the one that I recently ordered has a lot of heavy texturing on it.
I'll admit that I'm pretty content with it along with my SHF Kylo Ren. I don't think I like him enough to feel the need to do a kit-bashed version between the two honestly.
I know a guy with 3 or 4 Vaders, if I ask him nicely enough he might let me have one. I just got my regular Boba for 25 bucks from him, so it's a possibility. Did you guys get the wave with Bossk and Disguised Leia, or Trooper Han Solo? We missed both down here in Lawton.
why the fuck can't i find any black series figure besides Finn in canada?
I've found that some Walgreens get partial cases, so if you find two figures at one location, the next nearest Walgreens probably has two different figures. I also noticed that my nearest one seems to get the primo figures. I found Cody, IG88, Troopers, while others had the peg warmers. So it may have to do with how good the sell through is at each locale.
i was cleaning and i found my old embo figure.
man, i miss old articulated 1/18 star wars figs
In all seriousness the Walgreen's here have had some restocking but it's mostly FO Troopers, Finns, and Obi Wan Kenobis. Our Walmarts just got restocked with Reys and Tie Pilots. Targets and Toys R Us have been cleaned out. It's making me anxious that I'll miss out on my chance to find a Jango Fett in the wild.
There's a new Rebels Princess Leia figure coming out. 3.75inch. I'm sure you anons care about this news very much.
Holy shit how am I just now seeing this? Shadowtrooper model kit
remember cad bane?
remember 501st clone trooper?
Remember the perfect Battle Droid they released overseas but not in the US? Even though it's perfect and can two-hand hold the fucking blaster...but they'll never reuse the mold because fuck you.
or the near perfect IG 86?
man those were the times, i should have bought more
i only see one barrel
This is what a three barrel gun looks like.
Only made it to Canada and the other side of the world. America got fucked on the final wave of Clone Wars/Movie Heroes.
I would've army built this fuck.
>overall lack of articulation
Seems like we didn't miss out on anything good.
Also, what's the articulation like on the arms? It seems to have a hinged elbow, but is the arm pre-bent to hold the gun like that always?
It is a little blurry, this is pretty common with printing method used for these faces, since they transition color a lot more on the smaller surface rather than using hard dividing lines and lots of flat continuous color. It doesn't look nearly that blurry in person.
would love to have a 1/18 FO trooper with vintage line's articulations
>Hinge elbows, ball joint shoulders, and swivel at the forearm, so you could pose it holding the blaster that way.
But he's lacking a bicep swivel.
That's as terrible as not being able to aim his gun with two hands.
I'm without Battle Droids and will stay without them because i don't want mediocrity like that.
Not all that into 6" when it comes to army buildable figures. I can't just buy one Battle Droid!
>It doesn't look nearly that blurry in person.
You've obviously never seen them in person or you're lying.
Also, it doesn't look like McGregor. Doesn't look like anyone really. Just a really vague white male looking like he's concentrating on a long shit with the way his mouth wrinkles are set.
>getting called an autist for not liking grainy painted toys and for calling you out for lying
sure is scummy psychologist trying to save his job by over diagnosing people and lover of grainy photographs
Pretty sure I said he's never seen the toy in person or he's lying if he doesn't think the figure doesn't look blurry.
Guess which one applies to him?
Mirin my 1 1/2 in. Scale kylo and FO trooper? Yeah u mirin
You think your father is Han Solo?
>doesn't look like mcgregor
lol, you're too far in denial, subjectanon. It isn't perfect, but denying it looking like mcgregor is either a lie or genuine ignorance. I also love how the body and articulation setup looks and works better than anything hasbro's ever made, but you're just going to ignore that, aren't you? Enjoy your tumor joints, moron.
Dollar says you're one of the deluded folks that claims the Luke Skywalker looked like Mark Hamil.
It honestly looks like no one. There's no distinguishing features that would be able to make you pick him out of a life up.
Average male, who doesn't have the same hair as ewan, with a butt chin, and a bulbous nose.
And that low res print job doesn't help matters either, making him look all the vaguer.
It looks plenty like him, your pictures just prove the point further
then again, you believe that men who don't have their wrists start at the end of their genitals are physically deformed, so it's clear you really just don't know shit about the appearances of people in general.
If you were anymore delusional, you'd be telling me that low resolution printing is the future of art
And no, the only thing i said in that amazing shitstorm is that peoples arms are of varied length because people are all differently proportioned, and that nice tidbit that tall people have larger feet, which correlates with arm length.
Short arms ~= manlets
As much as i laughed and think there's a resemblance because of the mustache, he really doesn't look like him either.
No one looks like that figure.
Black series ig88 is outfitted with double jointed knees, and works well for a droid, you just have to use inhuman poses to get dynamisicim from him, and he really should have been a harder plastic, but oh well.
Wish they would do a black series battle droid line, would be awesome to finqlly have a fully transforming droideka and the folding battle droids, and a hefty super battle droid, and even a sweet commando droid.
why exclusive though, this shit would have sold like hotcakes
Princess Leia Organa (A New Hope version)
Obi-Wan Kenobi (A New Hope version)
Snowtrooper (The Empire Strikes Back version)
AT-AT Driver (The Empire Strikes Back version)
More ambiguously named characters:
Tertiary Hero Droid
Shark Trooper Yellow
>every single Endor Han Solo on the shelf is like this
Jesus Christ Hasbro, what in the fuck are you doing
To me, the SHF Luke looks like Daniel Bruhl
>destroy the box
Can't Black series be opened without needing to do that? There's usually two sticky tape things, on the top of the box, just cut them and use the flap
Bought the Walgreen's Vader today... It's an interesting toy to say the least.
> cloth based as fuck, so fucking good with the little bit of weight each end has. you can make a nice swoosh with it.
> lightsaber is cool, looks good.
> mine in particular has amazing paint apps, and when well placed they look fucking great.
> the sculpt through vaders mask is an actual skull with paint on it, wish I could get through and get a better look, but it's awesome.
>removable right hand
>removable right hand falls off too much and would rather have a joint that tilted it down
> head a little too big
> head leans forward too much
> chain can be distracting
> maybe a 60* bend....
> shoulder seem sat a bit too low.
> always at an awkward a-stance
he's not bad, but he's definitely not good. I need a good vader... and none of the other offerings really excite me. Perhaps the figma Vader with Black series robes?
Four hours across three nights. Is that slow?
Anyway, I'm pretty happy with R5 and hope to cut the time in half with R2. Pretty glad now that I passed on the Black Series R2 when it was peg warming.
>wife walks in
>asks to see what I'm doing
>show her robot
>she gets excited
>asks if I have more
>she know if have a couple of kits to build
>show her remaining R2
>she asks if she can have that one when it's built
>asks if they made a BB-8
Guess I'll be buying the R2/BB-8 kit next.
The tie pilot design is great, definitely my favorite of TFA
The plamo BB-8 is great, the stand gives him a ton of personality. R2 is literally the exact same one from the kit you have, but that isn't necessarily a bad thing in your circumstances.
I don't mind the design itself I'm just afraid I'm going to lose the damn thing. Does anyone have the first Tie fighter as well and can compare the two? I didn't know they were releasing the TFA version till I grabbed mine.
>The tie pilot design is great
Yeah, no. This was one of their many, many awful design choices for this stupid movie. The extra visor, the one tube? Ugh. They really screwed the pooch in every way they could.
I prefer the original TIE pilots in every way, but still picked up the FO Pilot. I can forgive every other choice except the extra visor; I have no clue why that's there.
A question; is 70$ for a Figuarts Vader good? 66~ or so for the FO Trooper? I want to get a Figuarts and will definitely be buying Luke next month, but until then I want one of those two.
Picked up el cheapo 12" Rey at Walmart last night. Perfect face sculpt, and the paint job is only a little shitty.
You don't suppose it could have something to do with the fact they're two different designs, and the hips on one are completely different from the hips on the other, making it impossible for them to use the same type of joints without sacrificing accuracy?
I want to recreat a bigger UCS style version of Kylo Ren's shuttle. For the wing, should i go with the official set version or a custom stuff where the upper wing slides into the lower wing ?
Of all the Star Wars toys you own, which one is your favourite?
Really liking SHF Obi Wan.
Not perfect but the best Obi Wan figure ever IMO.
should I go back and buy these?
>some have original price sticker still on them
>tfw ROTS Anakin is properly labelled as Darth Vader based on his appearance by that point in the film
Feels good man.
That's a hard choice. Right now it's probably Bandai's Scout and Speeder kit, since I've spent so much time and energy on it. There's problems with it, serious problems, things that are done objectively better on the black series version, but I've lavished it with so much attention and affection it's hard not to say it's my favorite right now.
My favorite of all time, though, that's a conundrum. MAFEX Vader is probably tied for number one with Black Series Han Solo, but Black Series Stormtrooper is probably a close second, considering I have three of him already.
Have fun tracking down a Shae Vizla, cause that's where they're from. Also, they don't peg in or anything, held on with tack.
I fucking love effect parts, and am glad Bandai's been putting out a whole line of them. It's gonna look "cartoony" cause it's molded plastic and can't replicate real flames; I'm not gonna catch my figure on fire for a realistic effect
I've seen other people share the same sentiment so you're not the only one, but considering how I recognize that they're just figures anyway, I can easily suspend my disbelief on some plastic flames the same way I would to all the visible joints on a figure.
Used to work at Walgreens. Deliveries are twice weekly, one is only for important stuff you're out of. You'll only get multiple cases of toys during Xmas, otherwise you get only enough to replenish what you sold last week. Goal is not to have any overstock in the back.
So, about those knockoff 6inch Black Series.
I snagged a Boba and Proto-Boba from HK at around 10USD each, and they're pretty fantastic.
So glad to see stuff like this happening. I'd love it if they ruined the after market and the scalpers had to eat all their unsold shit.
Glad you like the figs. They look great for $10 figures.
black series bossk, sandtrooper and clone wars embo are probably my faves
For anyone living near Leavenworth, Kansas, the Walmart has 4 Shock Troopers stocked up behind a Finn on the peg.
they go well with clone captains and white bobas too fyi.
What are the best vehicles available? I'm not sure if Bandai has made a kit of the Tantive IV yet but Fantasy Flight made one for the X-Wing game which is pretty hefty and detailed. Also looking to get the Millenium Falcon, X-Wing, TIE Interceptor, Imperial Star Destroyer, and Home One.
Thanks, it looks.. pretty damn good actually. At first glance there are some noticable differences in the helmet + size of the breastplate, and just the overall look of the plastic in general. The details are a little less defined on the KO, but not by too much. I doubt you'd be able to tell the difference without comparing them side by side.
Did no one see this? Mafex ROTJ Boba up for preorder.
Im mainly interested because of pic related.
Theres an ROTJ version too.
>one fewer tube
>this ruins the entire design
Silly anon, she's just a regular girl. Just come on over and she'll tell you all about it. Shhh, just come.
Meh, like I said before Revo's not bad if you disregard movie accuracy. He's terrible in regards to what Boba's supposed to look like but other than that he's not a bad design really.
There's a sheev at my Walgreens. Is he hard to get? Should I pull the trigger? Also, my bandai Vader occasionally has some limbs pop out of the joints, should put a tiny bit of super glue in the hole where the plastic nub snaps in?
Pic related is best Sheev toy ever made.
I never never noticed that ammo pouches on his gut until right now.
Can Mafex NOT do ridiculous proportions on their figures?
Retail fag here. Something has come to my attention lately that has really pissed me off. So I'm going to share my story with you because I have no other place to vent.
You will never own these figures without paying huge scalper prices. Here's why.
Now that the movie is over and done with the retail buyers have cut their orders for Star Wars figures by 90%. Don't believe me? Look at how things were before the new movie merch hit shelves in September.
Making matters worse is that these figures each come 2 per case, in a case that has 6 other carry over figures, including the worst shelf hanger of the bunch, the resistance trooper.
Disney has also just sent out a press release talking about the "unprecedented demand" for Rey merchandise. This is a rouse. They're going to deliberately short pack her figures, as they have done in all previous waves, to make it seem like her figures are in very high demand.
These three figures DO NOT show up in any refresher waves after this case. Instead they are replaced by more carry over figures and a few new characters like Finn in the Stormtrooper outfit, Ackbar and Nien Numb.
So prepare to pay out the ass for these figures. Otherwise you're never going to own them.
It seems like the only sensible thing to do is to give up on American Star Wars toys all together.
Here's the wave name, just in case you need it.
>Star Wars Episode 7 The Force Awakens Wave 6 Jungle Space 3.75 Inch Action Figure Case
>collecting 3.75 inch figures
He is a Shig Lord.
I just want 4" Black Series Finn and Rey. Don't give a fuck about those figs.
And I know I'm going to wait forever and never get them, given that Walmart got them after Shelf Warmer Wave.
>Sideshow TIE Pilot
Fuck, I'd do the payment plan If I was paid on those days.
I pre ordered both ESB and ROTJ versions. I figured if I end up liking one version better than the other I could always resell the one I like the least. If I end up liking both a lot then I'll keep both.
Yea that's why it works out, if I hear bad things about the ESB version, I can just drop my preorder and keep the ROTJ one. However all of this may change if we see Bandai put out a prototype for their own SHF Boba.
Get them for whatever reason floats your boat.
This isn't stocks. You're not going to retire off of these things. At best you'll get a little dopamine rush every once in awhile when you buy or mess with the toys.
Clone Commander [lolspoiler]Fordo[/lolspoiler]
One of the last guys I got in the vintage series before it all crapped out and went to 5poa.
Poseable as hell, loads of joints, alternate harness/helmet for completely different armor look, guns actually removable from harness (and fit well in both), removable helmets that don't look too big when worn. Ten bucks new.
Like IG-88, I wonder why the black series 6" isn't nearly as detailed, well articulated, or comes with half the accessories as this version.
They clearly had the technology for it two years ago.
So no robots or aliens? Bummer. Good thing star wars isn't known for those things.
(Canada got barely any of the earlier waves. They actually brought in the black series slave leia wave, shelf warmed it for two years, pulled it off the shelves for one, and now is shelfwarming Constable Zuvio / Finns. I can't bring myself to look up how many waves were in between.)
I need to append this, because as odd as it is, and even though it is a pretty bad figure overall, I've grown pretty found of the Poe Dameron that came in the two pack with the Riot Trooper.
No idea why, but I find the fig pretty neat out of all my black series, though probably still a bit shy of being as good as Revo Boba.
My local tru and Walmart haven't changed stock in their star wars or marvel toys. Without spending a few hundred on Finn and Kraven the hunter, what's the best way to make the store put out new stuff? I noticed when I bought a bs first order stormtrooper that almost the next day they had replaced its spot on the shelf. Sorry if this isn't the best place to ask, but figured y'all might know.
