Here is the prototype of Gali, not 100% satisfied but it looks okay I think. I had difficulties trying to get an asymetrical skirt look with the vorox armor, but apart from the T-bars colour, it works perfectly and don't hinder articulation or the waist gimmick.

Here's a moc to hopefully distract everyone from the shittiness of UTD.

>While referred to by many names, he is only known across the galaxy by one - The Operative. A mercenary hired by whoever can afford him, usually the governments of far off lands, the Operative is a highly skilled, efficient, and deadly killer. Not much is known about this individuals past - not even Hero Factory coukd find information about hi. When hey hired him. What they do know is this - he's of an unknown species, wearing an incredibly bulky suit of armor that hides his true appearance. Given his current contract with Hero Factory to apprehend three dangerous fugitives, he was provided with a specialized chest plate, so that other heroes can identify him in combat. Of special note is his helmet - when asked, the Operative stated that a mission of his went off course to an uncharted system, where he found carvings and statues of the mask design in several temples. He snapped photographs and later integrated the design into his helmet. Despite his reputation as a violent killer, he has shown respect and even compassion towards other heroes - you would never guess what a violent killer he is.

The head really needs work - currently the mask is attached to a Mata head attached to a Mata hand, but that makes the neck too long. I can't find a smaller alternative that allows the MoL to attach.

The first toa were ok, I can't say too much about them besides that they didn't use enough new armor pieces, but they had nice proportions. The new toa have the armor, but the proportions are out of whack again. What's worse is just how easy it is to fix most of their problems, yet lego refuses to add in the few new parts we'd need to make these things perfect. The skeletons, like the beasts, are incredibly underwhelming sets and both offer seemingly nothing new to the table. And it's the same problem again, they're so easy to fix, but Lego still can't take their fists out of their asses for long enough to add the few parts they'd need. UtD for example would look remarkably solid if his horns weren't so awful and if he actually resembled UtH at all. If he has trans yellow, I'll be satisfied, but after Pohatu consistently screwing us over, I have my doubts.

I'd like to see other types of builds a well but so far they've fucked up every time they've deviated from humanoids. LoSS and Skull Scorpion are universally reviled and LEGO seems to listen to the comments. Also humanoids work better with test groups.
Personally I think they should had gone wild with the creatures and beasts but without incorporating any build-distorting functions.

Just imagine a face swollen basically from the cheeks up (thickest swelling is on nose, cheeks, forehead, eyebrows), with a red rash everywhere that extends even behind the ears. Cover that with dry, dead peeling skin and you have me right now. At least I have some stuff to properly treat it. Calamine lotion and benadryl wasn't accomplishing shit.

I probably would have been fine if I was wearing proper face protection. Went back and did a color test with clear resin and my blue oil paint that I finally found (pic related, may be too solidly blue) and noticed that the already irritated skin was reacting to the fumes. I think it was more contact than fumes, since I was screwing around with the solid stuff pretty carelessly five days before with no reaction, but either way I'll be sure to do it right next time.

Anyone else feeling let down by this reboot?

The first wave was really good, the protectors were small, nice sets and complimented the larger Toa nicely, while the bigger sets really nailed a good mix of nostalgic design and a modern look. Each one also looked different enough to be unique, but still look like a team.

The summer wave with bad guys was pretty meh, I only picked up the Skull Grinder vs Mask Maker, and that was only because of Ekimu.

Now the 2.0 Toa look alot worse. The fact that they all have the same tacky silver armor and bladed weapons make them look like some shitty Hero Factory sets. Ithink the colour scheme is my biggest complaint, it really looks ugly. The recently leaked summer wave doesn't look any better, Ekimu looks weird with those proportions, the beasts look, again, like some shitty hero factory rejects and Umarak himself is just big, but his tiny head on the massive body looks stupid.

Revenge of the Skull Spiders is actually pretty good when it comes to immersion. It employs MNOG's strategy of taking the main focus away from the Toa and only catching small glimpses of their adventures.
The implementation is far from perfect and doesn't really manage to set up proper atmosphere, but the general idea is definitely there.

Any ideas on the printed pieces? I'm assuming Ekimu will get gold and silver rune designs to match the Uniters. The Beasts seem to have a crystal theme like the Creatures so I'm expecting that kind of designs on their chests, though I wish they could get some weird stuff like Umarak's chest design. And I think Umarak's chest stickers will match the Beasts' style since he's (sadly) pretty much a larger Beast.

Long time ago, even if the summer canisters sets where complete horse shit, we still had the titans which some of them where pretty imaginative (Gadunka, Vezon & Fenrahk), now the TLC has gotten lazy and we only get four sets of questionable quality. Heck they are an Invasion from Below reharsh, applying poor building techniques in their structure, Enkimu looks pretty bad with those HF foot pieces from five years ago, Umarak hands look crappy as fuck, they are professional designers, they must put more effort at making this sets aesthetically appealing, they are saving big bucks releasing all this crappy sets, just look at the horrendous Pohatu color scheme, the whole new Gali design, and Kopaka terrible balance of colors. I can't even explain their weird fetishism with gunmetal, grey and silver, 2015 sets could have been GOAT if they had uniform and colorful color schemes and a new foot piece.

I think the problem is that the big bad for both years so far is too similarly-proportioned to the Toa. That's fine for the lesser villains like the Skull Squad or the Elemental Beasts, as they only fight 1 or 2 Toa at a time. But the main villain needs to seem like they can handle taking on 6 Toa at once. Every year of the original run had at least 1 villain set that was much larger than the Toa that were available at the time.
