>Every MP release was the same
Bullshit though I'm glad you remembered soundwave.
>hasbro starscream has a blue nose cone no coronation set subbed with flight stand
>thundercracker better homages the old toy with tampo's on shoulder vents and sonic boom on rear rudders
>all mp's have safety tampo's
>sunstorm became a shithead ronald mc donald
>quality on fittings on newer hasbro versions are lower than takara versions which suggest mold degradation and lower qc checks
I say this as an owner of hasbro starscream (have to force the chest apart to transform into robot which I didn't have to do on older hasbro seekers), all hasbro seekers (I sadly like shithead ronald mc donald), hasbro prowl and hasbro bluestreak (prowl has a slightly off center autobot symbol but he was fine, took me opening 15 total bluestreaks until I found one that didn't look like a 2yr painted it AND could hold its car form without undue stress).
But in short hasbro versions better homage the toys (where possible) and show shows of lower qc, I will buy hasbro ones IF I missed out on the takara and based on price, but unlike the takara I will be cautious and buy them in person rather than be comfortable with opening a package from japan and expecting greatness.
My second hand smokescreen with a chipped bumper did amazing out of the box compared to the many bluestreaks I had, thank fuck the tru I visit are patient enough (though it seems waiting on me gets them out of work so it may be of mutual benefit)
Combiner Wars literally had as many new Deluxe molds in 2015 as Thrilling 30 had in 2014, with far more reshells. You're literally mad that we're getting more toys. Stay pleb mate
But some have new heads and different paint jobs!
Let’s take Jesus off the dashboard.
Got enough on his mind.
Each robot is different despite being a repaint or retool. I am not a fan of the g1 autobot limbs though. But if some molds work well as another combiner limb, I'm all for it. The basic transfotmation scheme is almost the same anyway. Which is why I'm still bummed that we will not get beast combiners. They could just have a single base robot and just retool the monster/beast parts and robot heads.
I'll buy Victorion and call the members Kira 1, Kira 2, etc.
Despite being a combiner, rook can kick their asses
I don't think it'd be difficult, Victorion would just sit in the corner, crying because Xe's triggered.
wtf. Why not just use the actual Nightbird.
This is pretty cool. Who's Offroad supposed to be? Lockdown?
>yfw deluxe groove gets released in america
>but only in the g2 defensor box set
Yeah, I think people here are just late-comers who came in around 2010 or so. Part of the reason theClassics line even continued was because Hasbro designers planned to reuse molds multiple times to make the most of the budget; hence why the first few toys in Universe 2.0 were all those that had a ton of repaints(Prowl, Sunstreaker, Ironhide). And honestly, the G1 scramble city based combiner limbs all used very similar transformations anyway.
I imagine all the thrilling thirty molds are now out of hasbro's budget range, rumour has it that after Titans return, the leader class will be legends sized, with no paint apps.
Christ man they already shown off the mock up and physical product.
THERE IS TOO MUCH ON HASBRO'S MIND TO NOT GIVE US THE DAMN SHUTTLE
I don't have pics of the altmodes, but here's combined mode.
>>sunstorm became a shithead ronald mc donald
Honestly both Sunstorms suck ass
All Takara needed to do was pic related, but noo, we got mango creamsicle jackass with fire tatoos
I wasn't even around in the 80's; just saying if you have a line that's all updates of G1 stuff that was all very similar, don't expect much variety.
That said, I wouldn't be surprised if this extends further in the next few years. early on in CW, I was speculating that Hasbro may be experimenting with using a "Buck" system(like Marvel Legends, MOTUC/DCUC, and even Hot Toys to an extent), where in one base body type is reused multiple times.I mean moreso than we see with Seeker Repaints and Datsun brothers. Rather, more extensive like the Rook to Swindle/Hound. I can see them taking a Datsun brothers type transformation(car chest, door wings) and remolding the car shell and robot parts to fit a range of characters, like Jazz, Bumblebee, or Drift, all having different alt-modes, but transforming the same. Or having a few generic beast bodies that can be remolded for multiple bipedal, quadripedal, and insectoid creatures.
It's fake; a joke from around 2006 or so when most UT lines were reusing G1 names regardless of how accurate the character was to G1; mainly to secure copyrights. The title of the ATT post it came from was something like "If Beast Wars was named the way lines are now".Shock"blast" and "Maximal" Prowl are the most obvious tells.
I think it's gained traction mainly because BW was intended to be a direct G2 sequel early one (Cheetor's head really does look a lot like Prowl's)
>honestly, the G1 scramble city based combiner limbs all used very similar transformations anyway.
The scramble city robots sucked dick, and they all did the same thing and they were boring. They're good toys now, so quit complaining
Fuck, the G1 Aerialbots all had the same transformation, yet man children cry when they're so similar now.
Wasn't that a running change to the Hasbro mold because Arcee's dainty little hands were snapping? I'd much rather have an unnoticeable weird grip on a gun than have the hand fly off.
>not wanting a Generations Road Caesar
Because it devalues their toys.
Without the hastak devy, more fans would be willing to pay premium for a proper devastator. More demand means their toy's value holds well if not increase. It becomes a good investment if ever they want to flip it for cash.
With the hastak devy, people could easily settle for the more affordable and official devastator.
It's really not that bad, though. Like Marvel Legends, its a good way to get lots and lots of characters a chance to get toys who wouldn't otherwise. If it hadn't been for the shitty Autobot repaint wave we might not have gotten some other guys.
Transformers is a franchise with hundreds upon hundreds of characters, and there's somebody who wants each and every one of them to be remade at any time. None of the CW molds are bad (save for Brawl,) so it doesn't hurt that we might get a chance to get a lot of guys out of a single line, especially the ones who are kinda generic looking.
Now, that doesn't mean ALL Deluxes need to go to a standard set of vehicle modes, but you've got to admit it's an effective way to get a shitload of the generic car guys new toys on the shelves. It's a safer bet than tooling ten different car modes for ten different guys and having some of them end up garbage.
>No elbows on Scrapper
>Sideways elbows on Long Haul
>Gimped elbows on two other figures
>No crane movement on Hook
>Holes in Long Hauls truck bed
>Overly large figures which makes top issues and the hollow and cheaper aspects more blatant
>Mixmaster being changed so drastically for arbitrary reasons
>Combined mode is about twice as big as every other combiner
He's an okay toy, but tons of missed potential. I know most of you are going to say "Who cares, it's gonna be combined most of the time anyway" but no, not in my house it wouldn't. Robot mode quality was sacrificed too much, and not even to make combined mode better so much as penny pinching.
No. Nightbird uses the original version of her hands with the lip that makes her hold her guns by the tips.
Arcee got a running change that removed the lip and added a plastic piece to close her hands so her thumbs couldn't snap off.
Arcee's hands were solid plastic so you could shave off the lip, and as long as you didn't twist the weapons her thumb would hold just fine. Nightbird's hands are only painted silver so any shaving will fuck the whole thing up.
if you care about the robot modes so much just buy the Takara one. Complaining about toys this much cant be healthy
>>No crane movement on Hook
>>Holes in Long Hauls truck bed
thats where his shin guards go in truck mode
My baby nephews are more interested in Robocar Poli and that Audley rip-off Superwings, not that much in Rescuebots or RID15.
I guess Robocar Poli is the future of the fandom, transformers will be stuck geewunning.
whats fucking refreshing is how Poli is just different and how the toys are just toys not 'figures'
>and this figure is really good! I like how the dark green works making the figure pop out with the yellow detailing. not a lot of figures do this, did you imagine this green text as Baltmatrix anon?
You know, the car bots are starting to grow on me, something about them is kind of cute and classic about them, almost as if they were gobots. Hell you could probably get a good Crasher out of the non Nightbird one. the copter limbs are all kinds of shit though.
I could see that. They did one for Superion and Menasor, they should do one for Bruticus. I love him, but his crotch plate is shit, and he needs huge cannons on his back, and also a big gun that can be used by his PE hands, right now my Bruticus is using MP-01's gun, which works great, but something more proper is in need.
You know what bugs me? Towards the end, BW and BW Neo really branched out in animal selection. But ever since then, the beast choices in new series have all focussed on the same old dinos, big cats, and insects.
Yeah, I was thinking he could work. Taking the frilled neck piece off the Basic class toy might be a good idea. Frilled neck lizards and beardies are related, too.
Neo was really ambitious for sure with stuff like Break, Mach Kick, and Longrack. Shame most Neo toys were shitty shellformers.
> No elbows
> No knees
> No universal hips
> No universal shoulders
> No ankle tilts
What kind of baby shit is this. I am going to get them just to male a Youtube video of them going into the trash.
>same shit but now with the bare minimum for acceptable elbows at a more expensive price
It's not that much better. I don't think any Devastator from any company has really hit the nail on the head except for maybe the Legends scaled one from DX9 (only because no partsforming is a novelty). Has/Tak came so close but so fucking far. The Turds are expensive and derivative, often only having a little resemblance to the character, but at least most of them are solid standalones.
Really I'd like to see one of those enhanced KOs that are starting to come out of China where they take the originals and improve it like the Evasion Prime, Voyager Movie Hound, and some of Warbotron not-combaticons.
And the full team is together. Finally. The Combaticons are one of my absolute favorite teams.
How does Strongarm transform?
I'm pretty sure her windshield and roof are her arms, her grill is her chest, and her front bumper is her "belt." It also looks like her wheels invert to form her shoulders, and the wheels on her legs flip around to the insides of her calves, but...well, where do her boob plates come from?
The only place that has that pattern on her altmode is the area near her back wheels, but I don't think those articulate around her body, do they? Besides, those parts don't mind up with her door/window kibble.
>remember disliking classics Hot Rod when I got him
>today I just picked him off the shelf and messed with him a bit
>have a nice time
I don't know why I hated him so much. Probably because mine has a gimp right arm that falls off the balljoint contantly.
Fix how? Mine from the UW set are pretty shitty, can't get his hips all the way "up". Afraid to try forcing it because the ball joints might snap right the fuck off if I try too hard.
I'm satisfied with the official Devastator, not because I want one, I prefer the MT version, but because prices soon after for the 3rd party versions go down so much.
I bet when Computron comes out in full, Quantron is going to absolutely die in price, which I can't wait for.
Well, the purpose of it is to build up the outer layer on the ball to make it bigger. But if it's like, visibly malformed, I dunno what you could do. Maybe just shove some stiktak or something in the joint, but that might be a terrible idea.
You mean like normal Computron? But I realize he's not to everyone's tastes, and I don't particularly like how he's paper thin from the sides. But I really like his look personally, most I'd pay for it is 200$.
If 3P stuff wasn't so overpriced, I'd totally buy some stuff like Quantron and Giant not for my Classics shelf, but just as stand-alone transforming robots. I really like how 3Ps get creative with transformations and stuff, but I also don't like how much they have to take liberties. Maketoy's Giant's combined mode is cool, but a lot of its iindividual bot designs except for maybe Scrapper and Mixmaster bore me.
On the note of CW Computron, Strafe is looking pretty good!
This. Whenever I asked /tfg/ about Classics Hot Rod, the general consensus was that he's shit.
I bought one anyway a few weeks back and I really like him. My only problem with him is the somewhat limited arm articulation.
I agree with you, but watch that sentiment with Third Party guys. They fly into an autistic rage if you even dare to say something is too expensive because "I'M willing to pay for quality, unlike you, POORFAG."
I have a couple Turds, and they generally have pretty shit QC (broken joints in the package, tons of stress marks) or one or two elements that are way too fragile. The ones I have are fun toys, but then I bought them on sale. And I'd never drop the insane prices for a 3p combiner.
I think Quantron is on clearance on BBTS, though. I might grab him at some point, but definitely not for full price. And the KO Giant/Herculese/Whatever looks pretty good for being such a low price comparatively.
Yeah, 3P stuff is a fucking arm and a leg, combiners especially.
Still not stopping me from looking at Feral Rex. I'll eat 78 cent ramen for a month if it'll get me a fucking updated, good looking Predaking, since Hasbro probably isn't doing it at this point, yet somehow is tossing out Liokaiser...
Eh, I've never liked Predaking that much, so I couldn't be assed to pay 100 clapbux a bot for him. My favorite combiners have always been Menasor (the 3P of which is awful,) Abominus ( I think there's a 3p?) and Monstructor (who nobody wants to touch.)
One thing I've kind of noticed about the hardcore 3p guys and the official guys is that a lot of the 3p guys don't care much for the fiction, and just want one or two robot toys.
Monstructor has a 3P version coming out by FP.
> 3p guys don't care much for the fiction, and just want one or two robot toys.
Which is strange given how much influence the fiction has on 3Ps. I don't it's a coincidence MMC is doing Overlord and Impactor and the DJD for example.
I don't understand how anyone was able to defend the legs just being stilts with cars stapled onto them. "It's G1 cartoon accurate!" As if it's a good thing to make a Menasor that's Motormaster with cars stapled onto his arms and legs.
Monstructor, Thunderwing, and Bludgeon are the boss monsters of IDW
He's sort of more like a monstrous Devestator than another Abominus.
Thank you Takara! Now I'll be able to imitate this pose with Unite Warriors Blast Off!
I know that he's a really cool eldritch abomination in Dreamwave. But toy-wise, he's basically like a tiny Abominus. Both teams are made of of robots that transform into monsters, but Monstructor's are super vague and similar to the Terrorcons:
>icepick, scowl, and slog=blot
And then Birdbrain and Bristleback are vague quadrupedal monsters (sinnertwin and hun-grr... kinda?).
You know, if Leokaiser got a Legends guy, it might be an okay compromise. But yeah, Leozack not getting a vehicle mode is pretty bad.
I've always liked how Leokaiser has a teal torso and head so the little black head just doesn't do it for me. I'll have to wait on the Takara repaint and pay the Jap tax for him.
>G2 recolors go right into the trash where they belong with those garish color schemes
>The very definition of shelf warmer, guy no one knows because Japanese G1, and the fanvoted combiner
>and no Piranacon, Abominus, or Predaking
Feels bad, man.
>QUALITY is a serious issue in many series
No need to tell me that anon, I'm a Symphogear fan.
>G2 recolors go right into the trash where they belong with those garish color schemes
You need to put a fucking bullet in your brain right now
Fuck you to death you prancing faggot fucker
This is the whole thing that drives me crazy that supposedly a new take on a character prevents you from ever going back and reading/enjoy old fiction about said character. Games or comics or movies, doesn't matter. Gone Home doesn't erase Crono Trigger, MTMTE didn't erase G1, the new TMNT doesn't negate the 90's movies. If you don't like the new shit go back and read/watch/enjoy the old shit.
And they'll either sell out immediately, meaning you'll have to pay more to get them elsewhere, or they'll never show up in your store.
And if they shelfwarm? You might as well get them then and there, I've never seen an expensive toy in that store to drop in price, it's staying there until they chose to take them to the back and make them disappear.
I don't agree with the anti-IDW shitters, but you have to understand- while Gone Home doesn't erase Chrono Trigger, it does potentially erase the future of things like Chrono Trigger. The new Ninja Turtles takes the place of a hypothetical good Turtles movie, and will color the future of the brand.
Nor instance, we're only just now recovering from the Transformer's movie's obsession with Bumblebee.
Gone Home is a bad example, too, because people wouldn't have reacted as negatively as they did if they hadn't been told that Gone Home was "10/10 the future of video games."
Except it does to a point. The most popular portrayals of a character will tend to overshadow other interpretations of the character,or other characters that share a name with them.
Like in TMNT, for example, in the cartoon Raph was the sarcastic smart aleck of the team. Ever since the movie, which drew more from the comics, he's been the angry and violent one.
>people talking about how great gay robots are aren't posting pictures of toys they bought being gay
Seems like those people are just the ones who read the comics and don't get invested in the toys.
That's because the TF Fandom is split right down the middle. You're either a comic girl or a toy guy, there's very little overlap, and one side dislikes the other. Just ask the resident TF fangirl you know how many toys she own. At most she might have 4.
Except that's hardly ever true. Ever. Remember people crying over prime's flames and how it raped their childhoods? Yeah. Tell me how that's changed anything but how he looks in just the movies?
That's not really true on the whole. That's just here on 4chan, where /toy/ autists and /co/ tumblrinas have had it out for one another since both sides started posting in the same threads.
There are plenty of people who read the comics AND buy the toys.
We can do both, right?
I would like to see more Anon's scenes.
>somebody wants to see a movie representing what they like
>something completely different is made
It seems pretty simple to me, but then again I'm not a shitposting contrarian faggot.
You. Don't. Get. It. The shows, movies, books, and comics that you enjoyed as a kid are NOT changed and still exist exactly how you remember them even after some recent thing has a change you don't like. Your childhood isn't affected. You just don't like this recent version of this character.
The problem with that is the new stuff stopped following the old, and the old doesn't have new stuff being made for it. They don't want the change, they want the same character in a new series.
I'm just saying that if they liked gay robuts so much they'd be buying the toys and make them do gay shit like I do with the fembots.
>I'm just saying that if they liked gay robuts so much they'd be buying the toys and make them do gay shit like I do with the fembots.
They do. You just don't notice.
The Arcee picture you posted for example was made by those people and expropriated here.
>Just ask the resident TF fangirl you know how many toys she own. At most she might have 4.
>have over 300 transformers
>all neatly stored in a nice cabinet so no clusterfucks
>have other female friends with larger TF collections than mine
The whole gay robots problem is just a symptom of the larger issue in Transformers of too many "male" characters.
Not that that is itself the problem but relationships, specifically romance, is a strong element of story telling and a driving force in a lot of story.
The lack of relationships and love etc for robots is a huge missing factor that really limits gow much story can be told.
Did you save that picture of the headmasters from a thread a few months ago?
I remember posting the same screencap at the same second.
Also you just gotta love scale in Transformers.
Fresh from Hasbro's Facebook page
This is fake, right?
It looks like something a shitty customizer would do.
...Please tell me I've been trolled!
Maybe if you stopped trying to get your rocks off deleting random shit you wouldn't end up with a bunch of duplicate threads.
God damn they really do hire mods from the bottom of the barrel in this shithole
Being a headmaster has nothing to do with why the eyes are so wide..
Visor's a bit wide, but I've seen people thinking it's because the head is actually a helmet for the headmaster gimmick bot inside of it.
Plus didn't the original Soundwave toy have a yellow visor? But yeah, it is a bit wide. Still gonna get him though, and the Blaster. Fuck yes. Everyone knew there was gonna be a Soundwave remold from Blaster.
>In ages long past, a cold and emotionless race of aliens called the Quintessons created two lines of sentient robots on a planet-sized factory known asCybertron. One was a line of robots designed for domestic duties and labor (known asAutobots), and the other was a line designed for military use, (known as Decepticons).
I'd wager the helmet isn't properly placed because official photographs are usually shit anyway. Otherwise.... well, it could be even further reedun, it's as G1 as I'd expect for a non-MP thing that IDW will draw.
stuff like that gets my conspiracy theory side going- how many of these 3rd party companies might be affiliated with Hasbro/Tomy in secret? Hasbro could kill off 3P sets by doing it "right" yet they don't so a bunch of "make it right" kits come out that cost as much as the toy itself.
Hey, the PE Bruticus hands do the rifle mode a bit differently from the rest. Neat.
Yes it does. Because people cannot and WILL NOT agree on every single little thing the world has to offer, war between ideas will exist.
>the war did end
And the IDW comic is very much worse off because of it.
>And the IDW comic is very much worse off because of it.
Other than being the best piece of Transformers fiction...?
Seriously, what is it like to live in a Tumblr-like world of total delusion?
This is kinda depressing.
But I was planning on transitioning over to Masterpiece where possible anyway, so despite waiting 10 years to get a Soundwave, I'm just going to go for the Masterpiece version when they inevitably rerelease it.
The MP would have been fine pricewise if Hasbro had made more than 4 of them. I had to stay up all night to preorder mine at 4AM on the day of release, and they sold out within 30 minutes.
There were people who did the same thing, but had all their friends and family buy them so they could scalp them. Hasbro needs to get this shit under control.
Theres not much you can do to control it other than limiting 1 per customer, but that fails when some asshole gets his family/friends to buy them for him, and then sells them for 2x-4x the price each.
They either just need to make more, tons more, or do some sort of on-demand system where they make shit per order.
