>And maybe, as a way to show love of the original creation, I decided to make that image.
You are so full of shit. You didn't do it out of love for the source, you did it because you're a god damn attention whore parasite. Leeching off of others work just so you can put your own name on something you had no part in. This is what the image would have looked like if you really were doing it for the love of the creation.
Now for christ sake put on a trip so I can filter you already.
Guy do you remember this ugly piece that I find zero use for. Imma try to mock with it. Wish me luck.
Here's your idea, I call this creation "keem bong poon in cuckpit" hope you enjoyed. Next creation "not M.O.D.O.K"
They're the Okoto Outcasts. Lenko is a jungle shaman, who learned his true potential from an old hermit, and controls powerful miobechanical beasts. Asheoko is a fast swimer, and a strong independant woman who don't take no man's crap. Fouko is an assassin for hire, who was exiled from his village after being framed for murdering the village chief. Palko is a half-breed of the Fire Clan and Ice Clan, never fitting in anywhere. Iphanko isn't sure who he is, having woken up atop a stony mountain.
When the Toa are nowhere to be found, the Outcasts unite to defeat evil.
Look at these fucking idiots getting owned in the background.
>Millennia ago, when the Elemental Creatures came into being, the shadows gave birth to a terrible fiend whose sole purpose was to hunt the Creatures, to trap and bind them in darkness and drain them of power. He is known among the Protectors as Umarak, which in their tongue means ‘Shadow Hunter’. They fear him greatly and pray that the Toa will be strong enough to confront him. Should the Hunter ever track down the Elemental Creatures, Okoto’s very foundation will be threatened with destruction.
Sweet, sweet lore.
So I'm guessing Umarak was made or hired by Makuta (as he looks less mystical and more like a mercenary) to gather the elemental creatures to drain them of their elements for the purposes of creating the Mask of Ultimate Power.
So, the creatures:
>Association: Ferocity, Fearlessness and Impulsiveness
>Grants: Inexhaustible courage and a mighty aura
>Association: Vitality, Regeneration
>Grants: Speed and manoeuvrability
>Association: Virtue, Honour, Justice
>Grants: Invincible valour and courage to defend what is good
>Association: Resistance, Heart of the Island
>Grants: Unparalleled stamina, untiring energy and increased drive
>Association: Secrets, Wisdom
>Grants: Clarity of mind and access to ancient knowledge
>Association: Toughness, Camouflage
>Grants: Resilience and increased speed
So, yeah. Went out drinking last night, woke up today with this sumbitch fully built on my kitchen table.
Figured I'd rate him since I've found myself in this interesting circumstance.
No idea where he came from.
Might be shoplifted? Who knows. Didn't exactly find a bag or receipts hanging around.
HE IS FUCKING AWESOME.
So, I saw this on eBay for £5.50. Is it worth it? I could see a gold Kaukau and two gold Mirus as well as the sparkly Avohkii, a red Hau and a white Akaku. The rest seems pretty standard.
Damn that looks good.
>Piraka beat the Nuva
>Inika beat the Piraka
The only thing stopping Jaller and co from whooping Nuva ass is their respect for the original protectors of Mata Nui.
And also maybe the continuing grief from Matoro's death.
Hit up the bars with my friends, went back to one of their places, blacked out, walked home.
What's weirder is that the closest place that sells Lego sets is a mile and a half away. This shit is puzzling.
Dear anon who posted that lewa arm fix.
Thanks, it looks great. Except I have no spare ccbs, so I used rahkshi thighs.
Ps. I got umarak yesterday. He is bad ass
Neato. I follow your instagram. I saw this picture on there and liked it, and a little while later I see it on here. Nuts.
Also you do some great mocs.
No problem, happy you like it. I need to take more pictures of my three toa, I'll do that when the pieces I ordered from Bricklink will be here. Also, reposting Pohatu, I may need to find another distinctive detail to add to him, since I'll keep the asymetry for Gali.
Not sure if correct place to post but I tried fixing the new Grievous set.
Well this was weird, but good. I accidentally placed an order sent to my old address, with the expected shipping date being the 27th. I cancelled the order, changed the address, and now the shipping date is the 15th. Interesting.
Finally got my hands on my first 2016 sets (Tahu, Lewa, their respective creatures, and Umarak), all super awesome. Is it just me or are the masks WAY tighter than they were last year? It actually takes some effort to pull them off the face which I like.
Also the crystal blades are way thinner than I expected them to be and require some unbending out of the box, while the creature heads are way bigger and more solid than expected.
Question for you lore heavy anons.
Is there ANY indication at all about what "made" kulta, or why the ancient city just happens to be filled with dead spookingtons?
And what ARE the grinder's intentions? Why does it want to destroy the mask of creation? a grudge? for shits and giggles?
Kulta is stated to be one of Makuta's servants, but thats about it. The skull warriors and likely Skull Slicer were all raised from the dead (likely the dead of former inhabitants of the City of the Mask Makers) by Kulta's power, perhaps Skull Basher was too but all we really know is that he is Kulta's Lieutenant. Kulta planned to destroy the mask of Creation, likely under Makuta's orders (who would want it destroyed because of combination of jealousy for his brother and the fact that it is a strong mask that could fuck with whatever he is up to), Kulta delayed destroying the mask in order to use it's power to defeat the Toa, but got fucked up by Ekimu.
>Pohatu gets increased speed
Finally, something right
>>Grants: Inexhaustible courage
>>Grants: Invincible valour and courage
>>implying Tahu and Kopaka don't have G Stones somewhere hidden inside them
GO, STRONGEST BRAVE TOA!!!
>Melum is the living incarnation of the primordial element of Ice. The Protectors call it the White Element because it is the most pure and noble of the six.
Melum confirmed purist creature bullying not allowed.
I think Onua is the most super robot of all the Toa, though.
He's got a fucking mighty DRILL HAMMER, and Terak gives him the willpower to push on NO MATTER THE ODDS.
HIKARI NI NARAAAAAA!
I'm here to disappoint sadly this is the worst thing I've ever made. Here's not M.O.D.A.K. Look better without chair.
Here's him without chair. I should have aborted him as soon as the idea popped into my head.
P.S look like a villain in a child's RGP.
Looks better than 2015's clusterfuck anyway.
I dislike the amount of story details they've removed, probably because they assume if you're on the site you know it already, but still.
>When the Brotherhood are nowhere to be found, the Outcasts unite to defeat evil.
Nice OC Todd
Fucking asking me if should be banging rocks together, calling me a local. Fuck BoS and fuck that shitty funko fig that looks like this pathetic asshole. "Power" armor, I'm going to kill Maxson in Fo4 now.
I haven't seen even a single person hate on the shadow traps. I personally think they're fuckin' awesome, lots of character and way better than the skull spiders.
>tfw kopaka and melum don't come with one
Really hope next year we get a full team of villains in the winter like in 2006 instead just one big villain for the six toa to beat on.
Also what are the best protector sets? I already have earth and fire.
I haven't posted here in awhile, I was the guy who did the silver Kongu mask.
I had a bit of paint left over, so I did this.
Should I go fully silver? Or is this good?
If we speak about vanilla sets, jungle is still better than Stone since it has back coverage and his thighs aren't blocked from being straight. Also, he's still the best looking bow user of the three sets. Umarak is excellent, but his bow looks like shit.
All valid points. I really wish Umarak had a better sidearm, because while the bow is fitting, I'm not a fan of it. At the same time, his little knife just looks kind of...silly. It's too small for him, like seeing a knight in armor wielding a knife.
Went with full silver. Very nice looking.
Spoilers ahead and a rushed summary of how it ended:
They find out Mata Nui was actually a gigantic robot that the entire matoran universe (metru nui, all the other ones around that area) and they had been living inside him, they wake up mata nui but makuta transplants his own consciousness into mata nui's body just as he wakes up, taking control of the universe, mata nui's spirit gets thrown in the mask of life and jettisoned into space, where it lands on the planet where it all began (or 1/3rd of the planet, the other two thirds were a water one where the entire bionicle storyline took place, and a jungle one we never saw, they got split apart and mata nui was made to put them back together)
Anyway so mata nui goes there and does random shit then he finds an old prototype robot body and goes in it then makuta shows up in his body and they fight and mata nui uses gravity powers to send one the other planets coming back down and it hits makuta in the face killing him and then the planet is restored to its full form and mata nui leaves and the matoran integrate with the planets locals.
There is a bunch of other random shit and over-complicated lore and lovecraft fanfiction leading up to these events but what I stated is all that really matters.
Tablet cameras aren't the greatest.
>how Bionicle ends
It doesn't. At the end of the story, there was a Matoran/Great Being killing everyone, some shit was going on in the Red Star and Bota Magna was never properly explored. I think the Toa Mahri were rescued from the exploding fortress, but I have no fucking clue at this point. As much as I liked the G1 story, none of it was ever really finished, apart from Teridax getting killed by the moon. The 'saving Mata Nui' thing was completely pointless as he dies at the end anyway.
I love you. Also, I didn't realize they were in the OP, sorry.
>suddenly remembering all of the trivial information from back then
>they were mechs
So that's why they made Toa Mata Nui?
And they didn't make a set for the original body, did they?
Is there any closure with the Dark Hunters?
Are the people in the Pit still crazy?
What about Lesovikk and Karzahni?
Is the old Bionicle stuff ever going to come to the new one.
It was only "unfinished" if you followed the serials which spiraled out of control anyway. Disregarding those completely, the series ended well enough. Especially considering it was based on a toy line and lasted almost 10 years.
in the order you asked.
Toa Mata Nui was a great set. it's almost a shame that Legend Reborn didn't get the second movie like it wanted...ALMOST.
no. they did not make a Great Spirit Robot, nor a Prototype Robot.
Dead and Dead. by the same '06 Matoran.
>dead and dead
But, wasn't Karzahni a god or something?
>and the rest of those answers
Why are more people not talking about this. Anon just FIXED Pohatu 2016.
Anon, I'm sorry, but I'm totally stealing your design and using it as my default Pohatu (giving you cred of course). This build is excellent, and you deserve every golden Kanohi in the world for it.
I am gonna be adding his robot arm tho.
So this fix requires an extra 2015 Pohatu for parts?
I'm like tempted to mix Pohatu with Peg Rider Finn and Rey to make him look like a traveler with a jacket. Also if I find spare wheels I can do that sleeve thing I see everyone else do.
so I got Kopaka, Gali, and their respective creatures....and with a few minor parts-swaps and a small mod to Gali's shoulders, they're more to my tastes.
and no, I don't like the gold masks much. gold+clear-color was so 2015.
plus. the color+silver blend just works for me. and it becomes color+gold when united.
Look, desperate times call for desperate measures. And shit, it's not like 15 Pohatu isn't on clearance everywhere.
I've got both those sets (Finn's head and hands have gone towards RoboTupac, but otherwise he's intact), I kinda want to see what I can do with it. I'll definitely use Rey's desert wrap thing.
also, why does nobody ever talk about Gali's fencing foil? that is the coolest simple-weapon and I have no idea why.
yes, the pole-arm is a bit silly, but you can splt them if it's not your taste.
I wish I had another pair of silver+light blue crystals, but I don't feel like buying another Gali for them. I plan to have my Toa and Creatures seperate for display, so the gold sticks our weirdly.
I wish Onua's black mask was more photogenic.
>they didn't do color>transcolor instead or color>transclear
can someone hire me to work in their department so I can fix their shit?
>looking at resin casting stuff
>color dyes, metallic powders, re-meltable silicone
>have idea for partially gilden, partially trans-yellow avohkii
>other ideas for marbled blends
>too poor for any of this shit
Forgot to mention the avohkii's gold would be gold metallic powder, which is spread over the mold and adheres to the resin to create a faux metal look.
That spread on the front of the mask in different patterns would probably look fantastic with light illuminating the transparent part. Shit, I'm considering turning this into a full operation...
I don't know which /biog/ is the main one now, so I just went for which one was at the top of the board.
Had to move my stuff into a temporary place while my suite is being renovated. Just finished off getting the last of the winter wave this year. Of course I had to put them all up for display.
Bonus Vader and TR-8R/FN-2199 because why not.
RoboTupac guy from a few threads ago. Well, version 2.0 of RoboTupac/GigaNigga has been completed. And holy fuck I was not expecting him to be this big.
His Bitch Ass Nigga Targeting System hasn't been fully completed (translation-I haven't gotten around to ordering Gali Mistika's reticule on bricklink), so for now it's still some brainwave helmet bullshit. I changed it to Von Nebulas orb because Pac always wore a blue bandana and this is the best I could manage in Lego without making a mini blue bandana. That feels like heresy, but it doesn't actually damage the Piece, soooo... You can also see his shoulder mounted grenade launcher, for large clusters of niggas from the wrong crew.
He also has a wing pack, for missions where niggas in they private jets gots to learn. I'm still working on this moc, so I'll probably add some thrusters later on, but hopefully you can make out the Ben 10 torso piece. I wanted to go for a biomechanical vibe, but that fell apart when his torso became taller than your average Protector.
Finally, RoboPac comes with his mic and chain (disclaimer: Pac didn't really rock a big flashy chain that often, but it went with the casual racism of this moc). I'm still working on and improving this moc, so if you guys have any suggestions or critiques, I'd appreciate it. Mainly I'm worried about the upper arms - I want to make them bigger but keep them light, since the construction kinda favors CCBS bones in it.
Personally I like the other parts swap for Pohatu that other anon did because I think the build was alright and the problem was in the colours
The Lewa one is bretty good though, since his problem was with the build
>no 2016 sets till february
Hey, assbutt, if your pics aren't fully focused, MAKE THEM SMALLER THAN 1000 PIXELS ON A SIDE, JESUS CHRIST.
Even a focused picture that big is a goddamn nightmare to look at, while these are just blurry trainwrecks.
Take a look at pic related. What's easier to get an overall look at? The cropped/resized composite I posted, or the full-sized blurstorms that you brought to the table?
Showing everything BIG and IN YOUR FACE is a mistake that everyone new to art and photography makes.
While it makes sense -- everything being bigger means the cool stuff is easier to see, right? -- it makes the entire composition impossible to see easily, and exaggerates every flaw in the image.
Always, ALWAYS resize and crop your pics.
Yes. "Minimum Buy" means that, at minimum, you must purchase a quantity of parts whose total cost is equal to or greater than the specified sum.
Given that the minimum buy of the pictured store is AU $7.77, it requires that you purchase at least AU $7.77 worth of parts from them.
I advise that you filter search results to only show Australian stores which carry that color of Mata brainstalks.
Could someone who has both Pohatu and Ketar swap their Vorox armor around? I need to see how it looks.
i.e. put the dark tan armor on one of Pohatu's shoulders, and the silver armor on Ketar's back? Thanks in advance.
What if the eyes on Creature heads are not printed because Lego plans on using those as armor down the road? Mayne even on UtD. Would make sense if hunter wore his hunting trophies so others can see how badass he is.
Or would it just be another case of Pridak's natural markings and too brutal for the parents?
shhh my child, fret not
create your own versions of Akamai and Wairuha for both waves, then use the instructions to gestalt the skelly crew appropriately, givine yourself 6 individuals to display rather than 17
I only used the four dark orange shells from pohatu, and left the spikes since they looked pretty good on him, the rest is from my CCBS bin, and I've already ordered four new dark orange shells so I'll be able to keep both Pohatu side by side if I want. I'm still searching for a good way to differenciate him from the others, but I'm sure I'll be able to find something.
I second this. I'd like to give Pohatu dark tan shoulders and replace the 3L shells on his forearms with silver ones in the same size.
However, I need to know how Pohatu looks with dark tan shoulders and how Ketar looks with even more silver on him before I go out and buy them - because I don't want to waste money on a 2nd Ketar if it won't work.
Who else is mystified with Umarak's mask?
It's such a weird little thing.
>all the asymmetry
>weird chunk jutting out of his chin thatgives him a snaggletooth
>the weird parts on the sides that don't match
>somewhat similar to a skull mask
Did this fucker carve it himself or what?
>Like it? I think it gives me a sexy, king of the zombies kinda look. Big hit with the ladies.
I sometimes use red ones on robotic parts of MOCs to represent power indicators or something. I have more of a problem with axlepins. I've got heaps of the blue fuckers but hardly any black ones. I have no use for the tan axlepins either. I almost always replace them for higher friction pieces and when I want low friction, I use light grey axlepins.
Since we actually know his place in lore now, we know he isn't technically an undead like Kulta's crew, though it's hard to really say what he is besides an immortal being whose sole purpose is to hunt the creatures.
>implying he isn't the embodiment of their lust for revenge
Just redone Pohatu, obviously the gold spears on his shins will be silver, but yeah, I'm more happy with this look, it makes it stand out more even without the asymetry from the 2015 model.
Could the anon who posted that Lewa fix repost it? I just got him and Uxar, and while I like them, there's still a lot of nagging issues that have simple fixes I can't be bothered to think of.
the technic built limbs on Lewa, Kopaka, and Pohatu are awesome though. Meanwhile there isn't any real way to configure galis armor in a way that has nice color distribution and no gaps or large spaces of ugly blank CCBS shells.
Oh sorry, I didn't see your post, happy you like it, and please show us how it looks once you've done your version, I'll be curious to see how you want to do the metallic arm.
Thanks, the body has been modified quite a bit, the picture show how I've done it, the dark bluish grey angle pieces on the sides will be replaced by the newest ones with only one cross axle from this year since the second axle is useless. Also, the shoulders will be reinforced using 3L axles with stop (the ones from Tahu's new weapons) once I can order some. Finally, the hordika necks are attached via some 3L bars with 2/3 cross axle and 1/3 round, it'll get replaced with the other one, which is also used on pretty much every uniters back to... unite.
Oh and, I almost forgot that the center piece will be replaced by the longer one used on pohatu's shoulders, to attach to the black pin on the torso.
Also, now that I think about it, the shoulders and boot could look good on kopaka since it does look a bit like his 2015 design. I might see what I can do with that when I get it.
Amazon Germany fucked up the decription of the Toa.
Kopaka and Melum are apparently Umarak the Hunter
Tahu is Gali
Umarak is Onua
Lewa is Terak
And so on...
Finally got around to is. I am not very good at black light photography :/ you get the idea though - big flashy robot.
Here's a clearer view of the moc - I'll probably replace the green bones with grey ones to give it a more robotic vibe. But for now, bio time.
>The XK5-CLHN, often referred to by its nickname "Calhoun" after its designer and chief engineer Gwendoline Calhoun, is among the most brute and lethal of the Alliance Marines robotics based exploration machines. Engineered for lethal efficiency, the Calhoun features three energy manipulators in its hand, allowing it the ability to manipulate energy weapons from its hand ranging from swords to clubs and flails. It's opposite hand is a DMX5 Rotary Coupler enhanced Power Bkaster, capable of firing energy and projectile ammunition with unparalleled force.
But wait, there's more!
>Another chief feature of the Calhoun, and its primary function among Alliance Marines, is the "Pioneer feature. The tough armor plating surrounding the Calhoun ensures that any internal mechanics are guaranteed survival from even the harshest of the elements. Given proper piloting training and certification..."
>"...an Alliance marine in an Elemental Protection suit can pilot a Calhoun."
Best set of Bionicle G2, hands down. Literally the only issue with him is the visible blue pins in the technic construction of his lower legs. So I'd your like many of us and have developed selective blindness of blue pins, or if you have some old black ones to replace them with, the set is literally perfect.
>"The pilot of this particular Calhoun is Adalai Cunningham, widow of Alliance Marine Colonel and war hero Jackson Cunningham. Having continued teaching kindergarten at Fort Rathbone after Jacksons death, Adalai was approached by Alliance Marines and asked to join the upcoming "Dignitary" program, which would send Alliance Marines to previously unvisited alien planets in an attempt to introduce them to humanity. Her particular Calhoun, noted for its distinctive translucent and garish color scheme, is as much a part of Adalai as the wedding ring she still wears. Calhouns were designed with customization of the pilots in mind, and so once Adalai received word that she was cleared for the Dignitary program, she allowed her current, and final class of kindergarteners to decorate her Calhounqs something of a going away ceremony for her."
Well the ridiculous color scheme was sort of intentional. It's one of those Mocs with a story behind it - in universe, the color scheme literally WAS designed by a class of kindergarteners. The real reason was I just wanted to slap together a bunch of transparent parts and see what it looked like, but then it became a Exo suit thing and I just got attached to it. I'll probably design a less garish version of one of these in the future.
Son of a BITCH I hate my stupid fucking iPad.
Honestly I just love writing stories, so when I made this big ridiculous thing, I tried to think of the most plausible explanation for it and write a story around it. To me, writing lore around the mic is almost as much fun as making the mic itself.
>inb4 special snowflake
Reposting since we seem to have 2 threads now. Did anyone ever figure out that guy from flickr's 1st order trooper build? Mainly the torso. Has anyone come up with a better build? The set is ok, but I want to build a version with kneepads and a proper diaper so I can have a movie accurate memetrooper.
Anyone else got blacklight pics they want to share? I can't get enough of this neat shit
Here's him with the metal arm. I changed a few things, like his other alarm has both trains yellow bones, and he has this nifty little spear to dismember desert creatures. His metal arm is LITERALLY lifted straight off of '15 Pojatu, no modification at all. You really did well with this torso design man, inspired me to try something similar with Tahu.
I have some blacklight (neon) photos I took of some masks: https:[email protected]/albums/72157649417541703
...and I just built this, has poseable arms and gear function. Making mata style toa with CCBS limbs is fun shit.
Also, while messing around with your design, I found Pohatu looks pretty damn good with Finns shoulder pauldrons.
Has anyone else noticed how much friction the new sets have for their torso gearbox? Like, my Onua actually squeaks when I use the gear function. This is my worst case scenario, but there is some heavy friction with these sets.
Has anyone else noticed this with the new stuff?
Personally I find that with Brown figures the different shades dont matter to me as much, it just feels sorta textured or rusted or something, while with many other colors different shades of one color can look awful (I think the darker shade of Tahu's 2016 mask due to blending was the main reason for there being almost no red on the figure).
That does look nice, though I would have maybe tried to add textures to the forearm for it to look different ? I see you kept more or less the weapons stock, I wanted to try doing something with the blade but I didn't find anything I really liked so I kept using only the flail. Also yeah, not a big fan of the rounded look, it feels a bit too smooth for the overall very detailed look.
I haven't got any of the Uniters yet, but I like the amount of friction on the 2015 gearboxes. It's a lot better than the Toa Mata, where they didn't even try to add friction. Teridax was a bit loose in the waist, so it's great to hear that we can now pose our figures properly.
>isn't nearly as tight as 2015 Gali
Dirty fucker. I like you.
I have two of the new ones and they don't squeak
So, I removed Pohatu's armor and put it on his sword. I think it looks better for the Uniter version, but I'm liking the look of Pohatu withe the change posted.
Here's my latest MOC, scrabbled together out of that questionably legit Grievous and some tablescrap.
I shall call him...Styx.
Just got Kopaka and Melum, why does everyone hate on this set? Kopaka looks awesome and well proportioned with a cool upper armor design and weapon, and Melum is by far the cutest creature. If I had one complaint it would be that I applied the stickers about 1mm off on one axis so they dont line up as well as they should and Lego should really learn to print Technic panels stickers are shit.
Yes, Styx Mullagheah! The robo-hero we deserve!
Well, he's certainly got the legs for it
Some people might feel sorry for themselves in this situation
Styx don’t care
Styx’s got stuff to do
Styx’s got places to be
Styx’s got people to bark at and things to sniff.
Gali looks terrible even when united
A weird looking shark with minigun arms and fins sticking out all over the place with a silver helmet to go over a gold mask doesn't help either (none of which are located anywhere else on gali or the shark)
>that one fucking anon that goes into the grimdark territory
He's gotta be from /x/, I swear.
Once you get past his gold problem (adding more, getting used to it, or removing it entirely), he's a legitimately fun thing to play around with, especially since his shoulders allow a bit more freedom than what the standard connection allows.
>tfw kopaka's new sword is basically a claymore
>tfw rebuild one of my skull warriors to have a claymore and shield
>Onua, Tahu, Ikir, and Terak have gold unity pieces (Tahu gets three)
>Kopaka and Melum have silver unity pieces
I don't plan on using the gold ones on Tahu's thighs. Would it be a good idea to give them to Kopaka and Melum?
That's basically just the description of a pokémon anyways
Something about a child who gets lost in the wood, crawls into a tree stump and dies
The stump is then possessed by their spirit and becomes Phantump
No because then kopaka would just be wearing golden pants
It's better to give him the silver/blue shells from Gali
Don't bother replacing them as she is the worst set in 2016 so far
Well, I've asked them not to fight over it, but no promises.
Gertrude might be digital, but she has her ways.
She is strong.
His function feels less shitty than Terak's at least, since you are converting the lever motion into a hugging / grabbing motion. with terak it just feels like the lever isnt even needed since your just moving both arms up and down at the same time in a boring fashion.
Well regardless, If for whatever reason we needed more mascots this moc probably wouldn't be one of my choices. There are a lot more mocs that I feel would be more deserving of such a position. Like any moc thats been here longer than a day for example.
So humanized art is nearly 100% bad all the time, and it gets worse with tumblr involved, with bullshit race changes/choices and imaginary gender nonsense. Undertale is just one example of this.
However, I feel like the humanized Bionicle art that makes everyone brown is actually okay, seeing as the original setting and general tropes are lifted/inspired by Maori islanders.
Tl;dr: Humanized art is usually tumblrized garbage of race changing, but Bionicle being brown islanders is fitting to the original theme.
how about not humanizing the bonkles because thats retarded because they arent supposed to be toy representations of humans. If you have to go to any extent of stylization the best path to take would be to go with what the current design direction of sets seems to suggest, mechanical silver bones as the skeleton, the skin or whatever being mostly transparent elemental color, and then the various types of armor etc on that being various colors.
I hope you guys are into these blacklight pics. If they're too much let me know.
but gaijikas or whatever the fuck are a concept that, like steampunk, is only truly understood and utilized correctly by the rare person who 'gets it'.
And like steampunk, humanization is inherently pretty shitty anyway.
Basically, the way I see it is basically where:
>Silver skeleton ala skull warriors
>Organic / semi-organic muscle tissue atop that that is the trans elemental color
>Covered in armor of whatever color
>And then more armor from the armor add-ons that also feature the various things like pistons and what have you.
>You watch an episode of Bionicle Autopsy and he says "the fanbase is filled with so many creative people, willing to give up their free time to produce something truly spectacular"
>Immediately Weeaboo shit on the budget of a turkey sandwich shows up feeling as uninspired as possible
>You feel like TTV had lost their minds
>You, stupidly, look for this "creative endeavor" in full
>You watch the "opening" and you know your gonna break
>You mute the video and continue through the badly animated Naruto rip off
>you go to watch the only episode up
>Vakama explaining some shit that you don't have time for
>A scene were "tahu" and "gali" are talking
>after a lot of bad dialog, you decide to start skipping the hell out of this
>You stop towards the end and find out that, apparently, the "toa armor" is basically a stand from that jojo anime
>you're on edge
>"creative", "spectacular" you remember these words as you're hate for this shit begins to rise
>"fuck it, I'm going to the comment section, it couldn't be worse" You say
>your naivety is crushed,( along with any hope for humanity) as you read a wall of text saying how great this crap is
>"Bro you are like a pro animator because of you i make lego animations so keep goin" These words... You can't understand why...
>you look at their channel
>It's mostly "Let's Plays"
>You ignore them and try to find an "animation"
>here is where you begin to break
>all this way you've gone to find the bottom, and now that it's in front of you you're filled with a rage
>this rage flows through you, yet to be fully quenched
And so, this was my story... About how Humanization broke me...
I saw that back when it was first made, just as bad, didnt realize they made anything past episode 3 though.
But yeah the Bionicle fanbase has always been basically tumblr, it's not something you noticed much back in the day but looking back on it you can see just how bad it really was and it had a negative effect on the line as a whole, the number of leading questions made by fans when ask Greg was a thing were a big reason things got completely out of hand, Greg's dozens of edgy sidestories werent really all that complicated on their own.
Oh and I forgot to mention:
>You sat through 19 seconds of pure shit and a credit shows up
>It say "Kamen Rider"
>You've heard time in and time out about how "great" this 'Power Ranger: Omage Weeb Edition' show was
>that was the breaking point. This wasn't just shit, it was shit you hated with a passion.
>everything you hated in a horrid culmination
If hate was the way to the dark side, then I could shoot lighting out of my ass and destroy a planet.
I'm fine with fuckers dissing Kamen Rider, I get it, it's not for everyone. I'm not gonna try and change your opinion. But calling it an "weeb homage to Power Rangers" makes you a fucking retard. If you're gonna hate on something, at least learn something about it, faggot.
>a team of people who aren't even getting paid made this
>meanwhile the company itself produces cheap flash cartoons
I've heard enough of about the show that I've got, probably an irrational, disliking for it. As the countless orgasms about it I've heard, the quickest way to sum it up would be power rangers and anime combined. Whether or not this is true, I honestly don't give a fuck, that's what I've heard and I don't care to look further into it.
I knew that, but the point is to explain to someone who didn't know what kamen rider was and presumably understood what power rangers are, so they know what kind of thing to expect.
Alright then. But next time grab a dictionary and learn what "homage" means, and how to spell it. If anything, Power Rangers honors shows like Kamen Rider; not the other way around.
FUCK, this is a Bionicle thread. Don't trigger my autism like that and make me go wildly off topic, anon.
The only one I liked.. for reasons.
Got my Phasma. Added some pockets so the hips didn't look so thin
I decided to do this before LoSS is lost to history
>tfw no Bonkle before March
It hurt especially bad today. There was a huge pile of Lego boxes filled with new stuff, but no Bonkle.
At least there's still Nexo and SW, but it's just not the same
After having all the new sets in hand and comparing them to last year's, I'm surprised how toyish the 2015 sets feel now in comparison. I really just don't appreciate the 2015 sets as much now and Gali and Kopaka feel like the only ones who don't look like complete shit to me now, probably due to Gali's metallic colors and kopakas lack of those terrible open ball joints
Guys, it finally happened. My town has the new sets, and I can now finally say that my Mask Makers are complete.
It's been a journey since around this time last year, when I started dicking around with my Korgot and LoSS to make a false Makooti,
And right now, I don't think I've ever loved a MOC/revamp as this sunnavabitch.
This might sound dumb but I never got any of Teridax's sets in G1, and there's some sort of nostalgia-driven satisfaction in having a Makuta to call my own now. And screw what he may look like next year. To have him and his brother like they were back when I first saw that Legends trailer feels damn good.
Gertrude on the left, Scrambles on the right.
Scrambles was a Magnificent Corpse-style collaborative effort between a lot of anons, six making various limbs and a torso custom-built to make it gel. He was named both for the "scramble city" construction and for that one episode of Metalocalypse where they name a hurricane "scrambles."
Gertrude was a moc from the Time Before G2, and won /biog/ over with her soviet charm and ability to suplex a train full of bears.
Funny I just had the totally opposite reaction last night. Upon trying to not have my room cluttered I stored my 2015 Toa away in a container and after getting Pohatu, Kopaka, and Onua, and then taking a look at the 2015 versions again, I realized how worse the newer ones are IMO.
The colorschemes got so much more fucked up, aside from Onua's ; the torsos are flimsy in places like Kopaka's shoulders; the various degrees of textures in their armor clash so hard; the Uniter shell looks too long and tacked on in comparison to the two piece torsos; complexity for complexity's sake; worse mask designs; worse weapons; too much trans on everyone; wacky points of articulation like Pohatu's shoulders (bend them back and his arms cave in)
Idk. The sleek, bold and vibrant look the 2015 guys had totally slipped me when I first had them in hand. The only things I say we're improved upon were the ball joints no longer being exposed, better build experiences, Gali trading yellow for orange as an accent color, and Onua swapping solid for trans purple.
Other than that, the 2016 guys are just a huge letdown to me. I even modded my 2015 guys a bit and properly put them on display. Onua's in the process of being rebuilt with his 2016 versions' parts.
Thanks! And look what I just found on my phone. My Makuta shaman from last year that started this whole endeavor.
Time sure flies. May Mata Nui watch over your collection, my friend.
Maybe I just hate the look of empty CCBS shells and the lack of a neck on most of the figures. I also disliked the abstract chest printing and the overall shape of the superhero chest. Meanwhile the open balljoints were an eyesore from most angles and the shoulders were disturbingly far behind the heads of the figures.
We also had a few really ugly designs in Tahus lower legs being trash, and all of lewas limbs looking really ugly thanks to the long bones and tiny shells.
>look over Uxar's transparent bright green bones
>see little lines near socket
>think it's microfractures because it's transparent plastic
>begin to panic, start looking at every set that has transparent bones
>see similar lines
>compare them to grey colored bone
>it has them, too, but it's obviously not damage
>realize those are mold lines from the production process
Jesus Christ, that was such an idiotic thing I did.
>My Makuta shaman from last year that started this whole endeavor.
Holy fuck, I remember seeing this and saving it on my old phone. I'll have to save this again.
>Time sure flies. May Mata Nui watch over your collection, my friend.
You, too, fellow Makutanon.
>Also, the silver spikes compliments the silver hands and feet and gives the hammer as much contrast as Ekimu's.
Well, if Lego ever makes trans purple stud shooters, I'd recommend switching back to black spikes.
I used to make stop-motion animations, but even I can't tell if this is an animation or a slideshow. I've seen 8 year olds make better than this.
>I get that sometimes with the new headpiece.
Same here. I panic every time I remove a head piece. I have a tub full of broken parts to remind me just how easily the 2008 sockets broke. There are other parts in there, but most of them are sockets that were dodgy because either lime green or 2008.
Alrighty then. I still believe that the trans parts pop more when they don't comprise the whole skeleton as well.
And again, they had black bones in the animation/you can't do Makuta like the 2015 Ekimu without heresy or using some black bones.
I think Makuta is going to follow Umarak's route: a base $20 Toa-like version with the Mask of Control (Makuta the Mask Hoader?) in Winter and a $30+ Titan wearing the Mask of Ultimate Power (Makuta the... Ultimate Being?) in Summer.
Unless the main Winter bad guy is a lieutenant like LoSS or Kulta.
And by the way, which colors should Makuta have? They stayed true to Ekimu's design and showed the Mask of Control one year before its set debut, which makes me think that they at least have a rough plan for Makuta's new physical form. So are these the colors he's getting?
I need a trailer or something for Journey to One already. Every second without actual information is a second in which I start imagining all the best things it could possibly be, and this can only end in disappointment.
I gave Ekimu trans blue fists, not to mention both his weapons are primarily trans blue and so is his eyestalk. His fists mirror Makuta's arms basically, since we don't have light blue hinge bones.
expecting the following, but it's just a guess based on how they kept the winter prices the same as last year:
>Ekimu the Mask Maker - $15
>Lava Beast - $15
>Storm Beast - $15
>Quake Beast - $15
>Umarak the Destroyer - $30
You'll need to put one pair of friction extenders on the shoulder armor bones, though, to do this.
I dunno, I just like to make figures. Someone else thought it was Onepu.
You can't really see it here, because black lego is a bitch to photograph, but the shoulder assembly uses a 4m rod with voodoo ball, http://img.bricklink.com/PL/92907.jpg, and then connected through the torso to the gear in that order for each arm. Allows hockey chest to be connected to the "Technic, Axle and Pin Connector Perpendicular Split" parts and the arms to function.
reminds me of when I encountered a kid whose normal voice was exactly Mandark's voice from Dexter's Lab
Made a Gertrude moc. Has no gold, and is a bit different, but still Gertrude
They were just cocky with Piraka. Before that, everything they fought was just Teridax's puppet or mindless drones, and Piraka caught them off-guard.
Don't quote me on this, but weren't the Nuva meant to be the strongest Toa and one of the strongest beings in MU in general?
>>Toa Nuva unleash the Bahrag
>>they can't even beat the Piraka
You want the Inika to look even worse? There's a bunch of bad things that could be said about them and didn't have even many panels in the comics compared to Toa Mata/Nuva (considering them separate for comparison) and the Piraka to make people like them. The books are probably different about this, but still.
They grabbed the only piece of paper inthe universe from Metru temple, which was a to-do list to awake Mata Nui.
One of the things was cleaning of Mata Nui island, and they needed Bohroj for that
>armor that allows them to adapt to everything.
Minor nitpick time.
Couldn't the armor adapt Tahu to look like Mata, instead of Mata Nui downgrading him?
And I know the answer is >stars. It just bothers me a bit
>They grabbed the only piece of paper inthe universe from Metru temple, which was a to-do list to awake Mata Nui.
>piece of paper
>not a stone tablet
>also the only one
Is this true? Sounds kinda dumb.
>One of the things was cleaning of Mata Nui island, and they needed Bohrok for that
Oh, okay. Thanks.
Unfortunately, most Bionicle art on tumblr is pretty good
The armour adapted to the environment, so Tahu couldn't change it whenever he wanted. I want to know why the other Toa's armour didn't adapt to Bara Magna's desert or the jungle of Bota Magna
Greg stated them to be the strongest toa every time he was asked, I can't be assed to go through his millions of answers but he stated so numerous times, the energized protodermis made them more powerful than any other Toa.
>armour constantly adapting to every environment
I know it was to give the new sets a reason for looking different, but imagining the Nuva constantly changing form whenever they entered a new biome is kinda stupid.
The Nuva would still be stronger. The lightning gives the Inika more or less 1.5 elements, since all their normal elemental attacks are laced with lightning, but they still wouldn't have the raw elemental power of the Nuva nor the extra abilities gained by their superior control over their elements (like setting off times detonations)
So with Journey to One coming SOON™, I realized that there's one thing we may have overlooked:
An official Bionicle Theme Song.
