I just picked up a Guavian Enforcer.
You have no idea how hard it was to dig through 100's of Finn's to find this at the local TRU.
Did I gud?
Yeah the last couple stores I went to were a Walmart that was pretty well stocked with a lot of different figures, and a Target which had been wiped clean of everything except a single Finn and multiple Constable Zuvios.
Saw some of the updated Rey and Kylo Ren figures earlier this week. Debating picking at least Rey up and attempting to reapint her face but also sort of want to wait for the SHF version. Anyone want to weigh in(same for Kylo Ren)?
Same. They are my favorite black series by far
That scene was pretty clearly written to repair the Greedo/Han debacle. We're reminded that Han cheats people constantly, told that he continued doing so well after RotJ, and shown that he's perfectly willing to throw someone else under the bus to save his own skin.
But I won't deny that GotG's popularity was a massive influence on the entire feeling of the film.
I went into the Black Series hoping it would be my 3.75" replacement, but it wasn't. These S.H.Figuarts are the best made figures on the market, and the most fun to pose, play around with, and photograph.
>hoping it would be my 3.75" replacemen
Are they not doing 1/18 Black Series any more?
I saw some in Wal Mart the other day, but they only had Leia, Luke, Kylo Ren, and Chewbacca.
I dislike that they went back to 5POA garbage for the primary 1/18 line. I was much more of a GI Joe collector than Star Wars, but I still liked the SW stuff as it got more articulated.
And the Rebels and TFA waves have some really cool aliens and characters that I would love to have fully articulated.
I got one of these for the hell of it over a year ago, and I was on the fence at $20. aside from a hot wheels it's the last star wars toy I've bought. I used to be all about that stuff as a kid, too
I just got him today, and I'm really glad I did. He looks so frigging badass with all his shit on.
>doesn't know how to deactivate autocorrect
>calls others worthless
>this thread still alive
OP here. Check out what I got on today's expedition and yes, there are still a shit ton of Finn Black Series (heh) figures on the racks..
>tfw they'll never make a Black Series Episode IV Obi Wan
>hating on an exclusive Dameron
>with additonal Hoth gear
>walk into walmart
>holy fuck it's TBS6 wave 5
>grab 2 Jangos and two Hans
>walk to cashier
>Han won't ring up.
> what do you mean he won't ring up?
>he's not in the system
>cashier gets manager
> I make up story about getting them for my cousins who are seeing star wars for the first time
>she just enters a random name into the register and adds the price manually
>it's a dollar cheaper
> I walk out with absolute victory and pic related
Euless Texas. Both Jango and Han look 100x better in person. I'll get some detailed pics of them and finn and post them when I'm done. If you want any specific pics aside from what you mentioned let me know now.
As far as finn his head sculpt is a lot better than the Jakku Finn head sculpt. Doesn't look like Tracy Morgan anymore. The paint apps and blood on the helmet are done well.. the rest is pretty much average stormtrooper.
>I make up story about getting them for my cousins who are seeing star wars for the first time
I bought this Renn as a casual action figure fan (Only star wars). Personally I love it, especially for the price
Don't hold allegiances to websites it makes you look like a petty bitchboy. I could not give two shits about finn, I was answering the man's questions. Please fuckoff and find somewhere else away from me to waste your miserable life.
>I make up story about getting them for my cousins who are seeing star wars for the first time
that's just sad
So she would take mercy on me and allow the sale. There are posts on other forums about people who had the same exact thing happen with Han and the manager not only wouldn't sell han, but wouldn't sell him the rest of the wave either and took them away to the back.
So rather than wait for them to be put back in the shelf at whatever time in the future they were supposed to be put on sale and buy them then, you make up some bullshit so that you can buy them now?
You do realize there is no way in which this doesn't sound incredibly sad and pathetic of you, right?
my Wal-mart has restocked a single black series figure in like 2 weeks, should i ask them when they'll be restocking/if they have any in the back?
I suspect autism or Asperger's for you not understanding why he did it. But it's actually confirmed you have some type of developmental disorder for being mad at him and making a specific post about it.
Holy shit, YOU'RE pathetic.
I thought as much, I passed. It's just so rare to see BS toys that aren't Finn in Toronto.
I think for whatever reason my Toys R Us dropped Black Series. I went a few times and it's not that the shelf space is empty, thete aren't even tags for them anymore. Not even a Finn. Why would they drop it?
And my Target just has TR-8Rs.
>I make up story about getting them for my cousins who are seeing star wars for the first time
Are you me?
Speaking of black and white, I'm looking at Ami Ami to try and spend some christmas money I got, and I'm having a hard time pulling the trigger on a MAFEX stormtrooper. Only four hands, one blaster, and they want 40 bucks for it. I dunno, man, I just... I'm worried that maybe I'm losing my taste for stormtroopers or something. I kinda want it, but I don't want to spend 40 bucks on something that I'm worried might not be worth it... anybody have MAFEXtrooper, got some opinions on the figure to contribute?
Looking at more reviews, I dunno... I'm just not feeling it. I mean, it's not like I'm hurting for variety, I've got a squad of black series trooper, shock trooper, sand trooper, scout trooper, and bandai stormtrooper and scout trooper, plus a half-rebuilt bootleg revotrooper... maybe it's time to take a break from stormtroopers for the time being.
Dont tell me those dumb motherfuckers didn't have access to those photos of the pegs when they finalized this assortment.
3.75in figures have a shit load of part swap potential. For example, the 5POA Kylo Ren's small scarf/cloak bit can be placed on other figures, while the new 3.75 Jedi Knight Luke's head will fit on his body for an interesting peanut head result. Just a lot of neat stuff.
Han is definitely my favorite from wave 5.
Finally found Kylo. Now if only I could find a couple FirsleOrder troopers.
They stand pretty well. Not as good as the Sandtroopers (there's something with the ratchets in the Stormtrooper ankles that can occasionally be fiddly).
Sure wish I could have found a Phasma.
I ran through a few stores today on my lunch break and was pretty amazed by the dearth of merch that I found. Walmart had 5 Finns (surprised they had any at all), Target had nothing (and in fact looked like they were about to vacate the building), and Walgreens had three Obis. Another Walmart that happened to be in my path had a Palpatine, a Battlefront trooper (missing the small blaster), and a Zuvio.
I was tempted to pick up the Palpatine and offer it on middleman pricing in the BST, but passed.
Oh god I hate this piece of crap. I need the SHF. Too bad I missed the preorder window.
>in wally world getting some nexo knights shit
>decide to check the star wars section despite some 15 year old kid vigorously testing every plastic telescopic lightsaber in the aisle
>see old han and grab him
>trooper finn behind him
>jango behind him
There's a toy store in my area selling BS Vader for $40. Considering that BS figures retail for $27 here, should I buy it? I know it's the shittiest option available, but every single 6inch star wars toy I have is BS and I kind of want to keep it within the same line
Walmart seemed to finally do some restocking, they had a bunch of Kylos, a few Stormtroopers, Resistance Trooper, still no Phasma or Shock Trooper. fml
They had one regular Phasma, which I know is still a pretty difficult figure to find, so I settled for that
Don't own a FO Figuarts, but here's a normal Figuarts next to a BS FO and Empire
No he didn't. Jango and Finn rang up fine but not Han. Wasn't about to leave the store without that one so the lady just rang it up the same as the others. The same thing happened when I got hux but that was over a week ago
What is the most affordable 3.75 compatible stormtrooper with articulation worth a damn? I'm just getting into SW figures again, half the time I can't tell if you guys are talking about 3.75s or 6inchers...
black series OG 3.75 stormtrooper. You might be able to find one on ebay at MSRP but the most they go for is about $20 bucks.
If you're lucky you can find the black series first order stormtrooper that are walmart exclusive, but those are rare to find in the wild. Although these have loose midsection joints making them hard to stand straight up unless you modify the joint somehow.
So apparently it's a big deal that Star Wars merch are finally including Rey (I guess all the toys worth getting, like the Lego sets and Pop Vinyls don't count).
Still confused why Disney thought that Rey being the main character was a spoiler, though.
I've already got TBS Kylo Ren, Phasma, and Trooper (as well as TR-8R Trooper), and have started buying SH Figuarts (Only have Kylo Ren right now) of what they are making of TFA so far, so that includes the above mentioned, and I honestly like them both; they're very different.
Since Figuarts probably won't have the sheer variety that TBS/Hasbro has, I'll definitely pick up TBS as a first and then wait and see if Figuarts makes the same character.
Just picked up The First Order TIE Fighter Pilot a couple days ago. Looking for Hux, Old Han, Flametrooper, and Regular Snowtrooper (Have the officer already), where have you guys found your wave 5(?) TBS figures? State, store, date, etc.
It was implied that Finn would be the lightsaber wielding one, that they both use it was a surprise. I never felt like Rey had less merchandise than the others...
Oh and today I discovered loads of Finn Black Series as an actual shelfwarmer, together with the alien that was cut out and 1 chewvacca
>So is the Black Series 3.75 wave at WalMart right now literally the end for poseable 1/18 guys?
I'd love if the basic line(s) went back to articulated figures. Because I would totally buy them if they were poseable.
Just recieved this from Amazon, pretty bummed out about it even though it's just a box. The outer box it came in has no dents but it's too large and there wasn't any packing material. Shot an email to their customer service so hopefully I can get some type of compensation.
more likely its the new beginning when 6" tanks at retail once again due to the cost of unwanted $20 figures piling up this summer. You know it pretty much already happened as a result of the Greedo wave, but then the promises of movie gave it an extension at the last minute.
It's a cool design. I've never seen anything like that as far as the face. Deadpool takes over all black and red figures? Really?
Anyway, I'm drunk at 10 am so what do I know. I like the design. They were really subtle in the movie. No close ups or anything. Why does he have a huge circle in his face? That's pretty cool and unexpected.
What a piece of shit.
Seriously, why people on /toy/ keeps buying that BS crap?
I can understand wanting troopers for army building but the human characters (Rey,Luke) look like crap.
OP here, I bought it because I'm a casual Star Wars collector. Also here in England there's not a whole load of retailers that stock BS for good prices or good choices. But I guess now I want to throw it in the trash and some better stuff
Does anyone know if there are any differences between the official Prototype Fett and the "Srar Wals" bootleg?
Be careful with these. I got my Boba from this and the wrist just fucking snapped off. Not even snapped, it was like the plastic was rotten and it just lightly broke away. Besides that and the guns being kind of funky, it's an alright buy.
Buy one of the innumerable Lukes they've made. Literally every Luke toy except the RotJ one comes with it. Buy pilot luke, headswap with something else, keep the lightsaber for your Rey figure (I assume)
I want his green, thin-necked saber. I have his blue one - picked up a #11 Luke a while go on sale, but that's Anakin's. I want HIS saber, and so far the only figure I've seen that has it is the goddamn 50 dollar one.
Also I want it for a TIE Pilot - which is essentially my roll out for Jedi Academy.
Oof. Best of luck to ya.
Although... it's not quite perfect, because it doesn't have a plug to put a blade on, but luke's saber *does* come with R2D2, though that's a whole different problem.
>I'll just wait for the Figuarts.
I was thinking the exact same thing. The only BS figure I have is Commander Cody and he's decent but kinda 'ehh' compared to my Revo Trooper,Boba Fett and Vader.
Jango is going for crazy money on ebay right now, £35-40 for a BS figure, fuck that shit.
He's a pacific islander in his, what, mid 40s? Of course he's going slightly to pot. I mean, he's still clearly hard as a rock, but there's just gonna be some slack in the middle, no way around that.
I'd actually really like to see Daniel Logan play Boba in one of the things they set between RotS and ANH, it'll be great.
Speaking of the Fetts, I just remembered a realization I had while I was high on pain killers the other day: Boba and Anakin are the same dude. Seriously, think about it. Angry young men who don sinister masks and go about being the most powerful warriors in their fields, though in service to others. Both had truly single parents, both blame the Jedi for the loss of their parents, they were about the same age when they first met Obi Wan and his actions lead to their separation from their parents.
>I'd actually really like to see Daniel Logan play Boba in one of the things they set between RotS and ANH, it'll be great.
I've got some news for you.
Since the redesign of the packaging, I've noticed that Black Series figures tend to have more flashing and visible points of plastic injection and venting than before. Kylo Ren was pretty bad with flashing. The first wave FO Trooper was pretty good, but the riot gear Trooper packed with Poe had really horrible hands.
No, this is Tasu Leech. That guy was named Bala-Tik, apparently.
Btw this pic gives a better idea of Jango'so size. He's really top heavy and hard to get into a good pose without assistance.
I got the re-released Rey today. I'm honestly impressed with how much they fixed the face. It actually looks like her this time. Though I did have to go through a pile of them to find the best painted one. Also, is there a trick to getting BB-8 to stand still? He's rolling around everywhere.
The holsters prevent them from going in any further. Is this what you're asking for?
Would it have killed them to make the target/tracker thing flip down? I thought the Black Series was supposed to be Hasbro's 'premium adult collector' line.
The antenna's molded half way up his fucking helmet.
>Why does he have a huge circle in his face? That's pretty cool and unexpected.
It's especially unexpected for the people who are fighting him, since most armoured folks don't put a irresistible, prominent target on their head for people to snipe in laser gun battles.
You can get bootleg tamashii effect pieces on ebay for half the price of the real ones.
I use this one with my Revo Boba, it came from a revo Iron Man Mk.1
It's the best 6 inch Boba Fett available right now.
I just suck at posing.
>I thought the Black Series was supposed to be Hasbro's 'premium adult collector' line.
Which is why you're not supposed to notice stuff like that, since you know, you're not supposed to take it out of the box.
Revo Boba looks good as long as you ignore the fact that he looks nothing like the movie version, proportions wise. I just look at it as a stylized figure and it doesn't bother me so much. Sort of like an anime Boba fett.
Model kit looks great painted up, but those fucking pockets kill it. And it looks like the upcoming Mafex doesn't hinge them either, making the Revo the only one able to move properly. I'll take the ugly joints for the range of motion.
People talk about him being inaccurate as if they painted his helmet pink or something though.
He's a bit skinny, and the revo joints stand out at the elbows and knees, apart from that he's still a good representation of Boba.
Racist side characters in Star Wars is a tradition.
>People talk about him being inaccurate as if they painted his helmet pink or something though.
Yeah, sure, but compared to most of the other Boba Fetts, he's not as accurate as he should be.
Aesthetics matter to most people.
>more likely its the new beginning when 6" tanks at retail once again due to the cost of unwanted $20 figures piling up this summer.
The 3 3/4" figures are like 15 fucking dollareedoos.
If they were reasonably priced while still being decently articulated like they used to be (not nearly as articulated as GI Joes but they don't have to be) people would be more likely to buy them.
Right now $15 is too much to justify for the 10000th Luke Skywalker.
And I'm saying this as someone who would prefer the return to actual 3 3/4" figures and not the 5POA garbage they are making now (again).
First time painting a model kit. I used the figuarts head as reference and I liked the result. Just sharing.
Still the best Boba Fett figure.
Has the black series stuff made any improvements since the early stuff? I got a couple of the OT stormtroopers when they first came out and was really disappointed in their articulation, particularly the hips and ankles. I love the design of the first order snowtroopers and flametroopers though, so I'm wondering how much disappointment I'm setting myself up for.
behold, actually useful articulation, and not a revoltech.
He can do everything but stick the gun under his armpit, and that's because of those goddamn braids he keeps there. I think I'm just gonna snip them off and run some string along there instead.
Fair enough, but here's the ultimate test; cross arms?
The lack of double jointed elbows is the figure's biggest flaw, with the static rangefinder being the second problem. If those were fixed, it would be easy to ignore the minor problems like the braids getting in the way or the backpack not having articulated thrusters or any kind of flame effect/tamashii stand mounting place.
The mafex trooper is by far my favorite trooper. Most accurate to the movies super poseable + that awesome mafex stand. I got 2 of them.
>That's actually pretty cool.
It was actually the last Boba I got after I had the "ultimate" version that had movie accurate colors and was super poseable.
But the colors on this version are my favorite.
I have a couple Bobas, and I don't remember where they all came from.
