I dont know about that. The only total effort I've seen them put in a DBZ figure in 2015 was the Awakening Goku and the Golden Frieza. But we still get a complete lack of accessories.
Vegetto, Ultimate Gohan, and SSGSS Goku are just the same old Goku mold with a few differences. And any other figure we've seen this past year has just been re-release (Teen Gohan and Piccolo) or an Advanced Color release (SSJ Vegeta).

Their faces looks great and 18's overall mold is really good, but there's just a few things that's keeping me from liking the figures 100%. Like 17's shoulder flaps and 18's limited poseability. Just little things, hence why I said they could've been executed better. But every figure isnt perfect, so for what they are they're pretty good.

I think it's one of those things where if you don't know them, they all seem the same. In a different medium, take dubstep. His capless head is little better, and I think that is due to them needing to try to sculpt a new head since it was not done before. I wouldn't be surprised if the capless head turns out to be a new head altogether and not something modified from the AoU head.

They take preorders based on the number they're getting from the manufacturer, not on how many they'd like to sell. If Bandai's only making X ammount of whatever figuarts they can't really take orders for more than that.

I think that is how Premium Bandai works for exclusives.

But for a wide release, there are dozens of merchants they'd have to coordinate that with besides the 2-3 import shops /toy/ uses. It's easier and maybe cheaper to just bulk manufacture a set amount and hope it sells out, then reissue it if the demand is there.

I think if there's one difference between japanese and western toy companies, it's their attitudes towards overstock. Hasbro doesn't really give a fuck if a character shelfwarms hard because they got doublepacked, because material cost is low at that point. Bandai or Max factory or whoever can't really mess around with overstock on uniquely tooled figures when:

A: They're selling toys that cost around twice as much. Having to clearance expensive shelfwarmers hurts more than ones that were cheaper to start with.
and
B: They're selling them to a much smaller group. Their primary market is people actually in japan, not so much import sites.

So the way things are now really isn't that odd, especially considering that they sort of already do what you're saying. Also, more preorders always get added before release, and there's usually extra stock at release too. And remember, re-releases do happen; Luke and vader sold well, so they're getting another run. It sucks to miss an initial preorder, but I'm going to go out on a limb and say if you can't get one in by the time it's out, you're not trying.

Something I've been messing around with. I swapped the silver hip pieces, and I actually think I prefer it this way. Utilizing the ball joint in the thigh, and you can get a much better looking upward leg movement. Pretty interesting. There also isn't a big bulging silver butt cheek thing happening.

Depends on how well the Soliel trio does. Ichigo was on the Most Viewed ranking yesterday and there's hardly any collected tier Aikatsu merch so I believe the initial releases will do well enough to continue.

I kind of hope they do bundle releases for the secondary idols, most of them are part of units anyway and it would mean faster releases especially if they're also putting out chord designs.

Sort of found a solution to this waist twist thing. Pop off upper torso, remove the small panel piece, and place torso back on at a 90 degree angle. Sucks to go through the trouble, but it'll work for photos.

If they don't milk a separate Kylo Ren figure that's got a helmetless face or two for ep 7 they undoubtedly will for 8. They probably only had promotional material to work with for the characters to avoid spoiling anything. Like Kylo Ren's prettyboy face.

Eva 3.0 had a similar issue where Revoltech did figures based off the preview from the end of 2.0 and the actual designs in 3.0 were significantly different.

So I was at a grand re-opening of a store in town that carries everything from records and comic books to MTG cards and video games, and I came across pic related. They wanted ~$41 for it, but the were also having a 25% off everything sale, so I got her for ~30+tax. Did I catch a good deal? She just arrived awhile ago with S.H. Figuarts Kakashi and missing right foot of Sakura 2nd OP ver. She has the same built qualitywise as the other senshi released, only gripe I have with her is her ponytail is made of hard plastic and it only swings in one direction so it'll get in the way of posing, face parts are ok but her neutral face and smiling face almost looks like the same unless you look at it carefully. buy her to complete your team, I have all of the ones released except for the Imposter version.

I think the problem with the long next is because Kakashi utilizes a double hinged joint similar to Broly, if you don't push it down he will look like a girrafe, same with the shoulders, it will look too low if not positioned correctly.

Only problem I have with him is his effect part is meh but I have a Tamshii effect Thunder so I'll use that one instead and it's hard to put back the head on since their is a chance the 1st hinged joint will bend when you are inserting the head.
