Those of you just joining us, please read this guide. Please read it before asking questions as there is a chance it has already been answered there.

For those unfamiliar, "Plamo" is a shortened form of "plastic model." If it's made of plastic, someone can probably help you here.

I bought Try Burning on a whim. It's pretty awesome, but it falls apart really really easily--especially at the ab crunch and the shoulders. Is there any way to make the balljoints...not pop out as easily?

Since it's long past Christmas, lets get an update on Secret Santas and what you got/didn't get.

Sorry Richmond BC bro, haven't gotten anything close of a package slip yet. Any updates?

Any of them will do, really. I've never tried Mr dissolved, but you could just use lacquer thinner and thin the putty anyway.

Think I'll have to wait till the 1/100 Kumeris (sp) is released but think all the Gundams in IBO have the same base inner frame? The Gasion has the same arms and legs but spaced out in an odd way to accommodate the kit.

Would explain how that mystery MS A HG kit that looks like a heavily armored flesh colored Gasion and Barbados spare part medley.

Now try some real paint with a brush. It'll come out nicer than a marker when done right, and the work helps across all models since many don't come with the detail level Bandai kits do. Just be sure not use art store brands, get modeling paint, THIN YOUR PAINTS and test on practice spoons or parts.

>>
>>5364915
Different guy but enamels can eat through future. Sort of.
It takes a bit and some pressure but it absolutely can go past the future layer and take up some of the paint underneath. This is using enamels paint for a wash and both zippo lighter fluid and odorless enamel thinner over a cured future with a tamiya acrylic base layer.
Only happens if I'm in the same area for a while. But 99% of the time it doesn't.
>>
>>5364915
>Enamels are enamels.
Some enamels use a thinner with a solvent that is aggressive enough to eat through Future. It has happened to posters in these threads here on /toy/, and it has happened to people posting in the linked Finescale Modeller threads above.
Why so confrontational? Is it that hard to read?

Alclad klear kote.
>>
>>5364936
Most Gloss clear paints are the same, reflection wise, it mostly has to do with how well prepped the paint that it goes on top is. If the surface isn't completely clean or really dirty it will orange peel/be spotty. Bad spraying conditions may result in the same.

You can also polish the ever loving fuck out of clear coats. You can buy polishing compound from coarse > fine but the same thing can be accomplished using car brand polishing compound and a clean cotton rag. Like turtle wax.
>>
>>5364948

He looks rather fantastic, although I will need to fiddle with the rifle position and posing a bit more. Speaking of which, I love the spring gimmick, even if it is simple. I believe a stand would display him better as he is rather top heavy, knees sweaty moms spaghetti, and has tiny feet.

Shit m8 and you had the balls to ask a question at the same time?

I see more snapfags here anyway than painters, and even then most painters are supportive of others.

Christ now I remember why I stopped asking you faggots for help with my models, I actually became a snapfag because you elitist fucks wouldn't give me a fucking answer when I needed help, yet not afraid to deal out shit.

The tallgeese one's to simulate its firing motion, as in the gun popping after a round.

On the tallgeese 2 you are correct about the gun collapsing, they're made differently between the 2.

If something is backordered on HLJ and says it will ship in 4-6 weeks, is that accurate or will it take up to months or whenever the next restock date for that particular item is?
>>
>splurge on a P-Bandai

Why

So which kit and from where?

Bandai never wrap every runner individually anyway, 2 or 3 is normal. (Save on packaging etc)
>>
>>5365454
It will take until the next run/reprint which is seldom for older kits. Sometimes it will be listed as backorder but then turn to discontinued when they probe their suppliers. All it means is that they will try to get it for you if there is a reprint.

To anyone who's painted the copper parts on the arms of MG RX-78-2 3.0, does the paint scrape off just as easily as the copper stickers do?
As in, is there absolutely no tolerance between those parts and the ones surrounding it?

I'm about to start building mine and I'm wondering if I need to sand the surfaces down a bit before I paint, just in case.

Since /m/ is having a snapshitter meltdown again I figure I'll copy and paste my problem here.

I'm a fucking idiot that painted the fucking vents and crotch on my cold district a completely different shade of red than it should be. Should I strip it or say fuck it since its only detail painting? Its tamiya flat red. I don't know why I thought it would look decent before but my eye only caught it now. Maybe because I am doing the barbatos right now too for practice along with this. I think I have a zeon gundam marker that is close to the maroon of the GM but this kinda took the piss out of me because I did actually decent with it even if its small ass details.

It's just small hand painting details too.

First of all, you seem to think this is actually a problem. So much so in fact, that you cross posted about it. It is not.
When I build, it's to satisfy my own creative impulses. I never paint kits like they appear in the source material. So to me, this is a non-issue.
You seem really upset about it though, so go ahead and repaint. You were trying to match it, after all. If you don't it won't match then, will it? :^)

So I've been looking at hand painting a future kit with acrylic paint and I've noticed that while most people prefer to apply a topcoat by spraying it on, most spray clear coats are a lacquer base, which don't mesh well with acrylics. Those are made for airbrushes you retard. Rattlecans spray tons of propellant out at up to 80PSI; rattlecan propellants are an entirely different bag of worms altogether.

I just finished the prep for painting my model.
This one faggot complains about painting indoors.
Reminds me of how much I want to sit down and start painting.

Just took a shower.
Its night.
Its 20 degrees out.

Really tempted to paint indoors.

Jesus christ. The pieces and the cans are sitting right in front of me. God save me.

Yeah, it totally wasn't a decade worth of cooking grease igniting in that fucking fan.

The concentration of explosive gases needed to actually cause an explosion from a spark in a bathroom fan is not achievable in real life scenarios (unless you are literally spray painting the fan motor from an few inches away).

This is not to say that bathroom fan will be enough to exhaust the fumes from a can, because it won't be and you will gas yourself.

Random gunpla question for whoever can answer...

I'm looking at getting the MG The-O, but from what I've read it lacks four yellow saber blades.

Aside from getting another kit like Hyaku Shiki just for extra blades are there any other places I might be able to purchase yellow saber blades separately?

I've been trying to find places online where I might just be able to order the individual runner from one of the kits, but haven't had much luck so far. I don't really want to buy a whole other model kit just for two yellow sword beams if I can avoid it.

Any help would be appreciated.

Asked over in the shinki thread last night, but I figure I should ask here too.

I'm kitbashing Stylet with a B-17G, and I'm planning on using bombs for her breasts. I can't decide if the 1/48 at .23 inches diameter or 1/32 at .35 inches would work better. I'm leaning towards 1/32 since Stylet's chest is about .6-.8 inches across but I'm not sure if the smaller, more defined bomb breasts would look better than two bigger ones

Using these Brassin resin models, for the record. There's also a 500 lb bomb at 1/48 if you think that might look best of all.

Scratch build from clear yellow runners?

Find some way to mask the original saber colors of another kit and use clear yellow?
>>
>>5369604
I don't know much about the kit you're talking about, but this is in 1/100 scale and you could paint the beams, maybe?

Yeah it's a 1/100 mg kit.

I'm fairly certain the yellow beam sabers are the same in the various releases of the mg hyaku shiki kits and the-o. I've been scrounging around online trying to find instruction manuals to at least get the tree number in case I can find a way to order it, but so far haven't had much luck.

I've thought of buying the builder parts beam effects set and using those, but I'd like to go with the traditional ones if possible.

Worst case I can always get the new mg hyaku shiki 2.0 I suppose.

there are a few other options for getting those large yellow beam sabers, all of the HGUC Doven Wolf and Silver Bullet kits include the same runner as MG The O.
>>
>>5369958
Okay, I figured as much. I really liked the Build's V-Fin, and I liked the two trigger fingers so that I could give it the Amazing Weapon Binder guns. Oh well, guess I'll just get the Booster kit by itself. Thanks a lot.
>>
>>5369965

I don't suppose you'd have the runner number at all?

That's good to know at least there's a cheaper kit I can buy to acquire the beam blades. I wouldn't mind getting a hyaku shiki 2.0 but right now it's not something I particularly want to build.
>>
>>5369990
its just an SB-1 beam saber runner, same as the pink ones but molded in yellow plastic instead.

What are you working on tonight?

Trying out my new paints on one of the first models I ever made years ago (it was awful).

There are plenty of imperfections (including a hole on the other side I'm patching up) but once I'm done patching him up and hand painting in all the imperfections he should look pretty great.

Should I spray him with matte to preserve the color? Some of the paint chipped away accidentally (due to a drop of glue) I can easily patch it up but it has me worried that if I don't matte it the color will eventually rub away and I don't want that. Should I or do I not have to worry about that?

I think I did a decent job covering up the seams though. I still need to do the joints, I saved them for last.

its morning here in australia, hungover at the moment I would finish the Zeta Plus(I've stripped down the thick parts and I also need to paint the beam smartcannon). I'll get on to it tomorrow, then its a gloss coat and waiting on the waterslides to arrive.

I really like the white faceplate though, it helps break up all the pink and will look awesome once I panel line it.

Prepping my Gourai to flat coat tomorrow. Also, I'm pissed at myself because it turns out I fucked up the eye decals on 2/3 of the faces and ruined one of those two beyond fixing by trying to correct them. I am never painting the flesh parts on a FAG ever again. It was nothing but a massive hassle the whole process.

heard the same thing, but you can get around it by messing with the panels first before attaching the connector to the backpack
