Bump limit reached, old thread here:
I finally updated my display photo. Largely the same, with a few minor additions. I think I'm at capacity with this Detolf and it's time to move on to a second one.
Berserker armor Guts. It was an exclusive Figma. Kind of expensive to get a hold of now. I swapped the helmeted head with the regular head that came with Black Swordsman Guts. I also made a custom cloth cape.
I'm forever trying to make a halfway decent looking Digimon display. I've got Sora and Joe coming in the mail soon. Can't wait to have the G.E.M. figure set complete! God knows I've spent too much on them already. For real, though... I'm constantly battling between the thoughts of "Let me try to make a pretty, but somewhat simplified display" and "Screw it, I'm gonna showcase as much Digimon junk as I can on the same shelf" (This isn't even all of it..)
If anyone has any suggestions on what I can do to make this better, please let me know!
Rape me, /toy/.
>inb4: "muh dust"
getting two detolfs this paycheck
Out of curiosity, where did you get your Shadow? I have that same one, but the box he's in looks different.
I forgot to add that's all my shit as far as collecting goes, I'd like to keep it to one shelf so I can be a semi-normalfag, but I'll put the detolfs somewhere else.
Off of ebay for 90 bucks. Its a series 6 Shadow. For some reason, its the only one in the line to have a red stand and different packaging.
Here's my robot shelf.
I should had put that robot wrapping paper I had extra of behind the VHS tapes I am using as a stand for the back robots before arranging them all. Though this will do for now.
Can I crosspost my Blu-Ray shelves from /tv/ if there are also toys in the shot?
I'm not too upto date with rider stuff but he sounded like rider 2 so I figured he was an older rider with that name. I have rider 2 and he's been in his box since I moved a year and a half ago because he just isn't fun to fiddle with like new one are.
It looks expensive at first but spaced out over 10 years it probably turned out cheaper than a lot of the collections around here since I hardly ever buy anything. Only one new valk has been added since this was taken.
Amazing display!!! Can you tell me what these two are? I know nearly nothing about robotech/macross but those look super neat (as do all the others).
The red one is the yamato queadluun rau. It's an alien power armor suit that can fit shinkis and other figs inside.
Yamato VE-1 Elintseeker electronic warfare valkyrie is the other one, it transforms into a mexican
Of course it goes sideways...
And these are my more valuable figures.
yeah, I live in japan, my place has a small loft which is where I spend most of my home life.
they're manga tupperware, it was the cheapest and most practical way to store them while creating shelfs for my figures, and keeping everything close to my bed
I think that if I had a hole in the wall where I could shit and piss, I would never move from here
That's the bandai soul of popynica gunship. It's not a model. Not everyone is a fan of the updated design though.
Not the guy you're responding to, but it seems like it'd be a pain in the ass to have to move your figures around every time you want to play a game or read a certain book.
I can understand having a framed or sleeve protected book or two to act as a background for a shelf, but having figures in front of multiple games/books that are obviously still in rotation just makes zero sense.
Literally every figure is posed in the most bland, boring, lifeless way possible. It's almost a work of art how boring your display is despite having a ton of potentially dynamic figures. Good job.
I've since boxed them up and stored them away. I got really lazy the last 8 months and amassed to long boxes worth before I eventually put them away. Once the bottom shelf fills back up with books I'll take an updated picture.
I feel like it can be done decently on occasion, but I also am a little biased. It's just a matter of space for most anons that are guilty of doing such a thing. I understand where you're coming from though.
takeya's stuff are the only revoltechs that are worth it, aside the stupid joints, they all seem made by another company...and honestly, I hardly ever see them discussed.
they'r buddhist, not hindu
the sculpt is great, painting too, decent posability but I prefer them in a statue pose
what you see is the whole line except for garura, I dont like it, maybe I'll get it someday
the price is really cheap for the initial five, but then they got bigger and rarer, the worst one is fudo, the one with the flames stand, it goes for at least 9000 yen
forgot about one question
well, I live in japan, I love going to temples, and I can say that my ignorant interest in this stuff was dually fueled as more as I went to temples, AND as more as I got these figures
I think the reason I got interested at first was because they reminded me the temple mission in gantz
No fancy display here but just got this akuma in the mail today right after I took this pic guile fell and broke a leg so into the trash it goes
Just moved. I have several more boxes than pictured. Planning to make this the toy room, with some small displays throughout the house as well.
Posting a slightly old pic of my digimon because I like yours. Poses have been altered to look more fluid.
That's my problem right now, too many figures I want and not enough room to display them. I'm going to get some corner shelves to put in above my desk and move my movie realization figures and mezco Batman onto them to give the paks some space.
I just moved into this place a little while ago, my old room was about twice as big as the one that I'm in, so I'm just struggling to find space for all of my toys.
Does anybody have any interesting suggestions for wall-mounted displays, other than the obvious IKEA shelves?
I'd like to display my figures next to my desk, and anything that sits on the floor would keep me from being able to get into the cabinets on it.
Just got two more Ninja Slayer figmas thought I'll add it here.
Sorry in advance for my weeb trash spam.
would hang out with/5
Neat bionicle collection, I also have all 6 Toa Matas and lately been thinking to get the turagas too. Newer characters are meh to me. Some good games you got too.
Just got my first two figmas and decided to put them up. Cameras not great but any recommendations would be nice. Hoping to get my next two soon.
Ditching all the sotas and pretty much waiting for my other predators to get here. Always loved predator and only knew about neca and McFarlane so this monsterarts was a perfect purchase for me
Hey guys, finally put something together, although ill probably change some of it around. Thoughts? 1/2
Alright man, real talk. It's one thing to be a man child and collect toys. It's a COMPLETELY different thing to be a man child and read Nancy Drew Mysteries and How to Read Instructional Pokemon books. Holy shit dude grow the fuck up and get an actual book.
Too many stuff. Throw away the gay stuff and you'll have enough room to display the rest correctly.
Invest in a glass cabinet.
That's storage, not display.
You need bigger cabinets, your toys are too big to look good in there.
Half clusterfuck, half storage.
Needs just a few more thing but also A LOT MORE OR POSING
Stop posting from jail.
Bad tastes but nice display nonetheless.
Clusterfuck incoming, right?
Not bad but just a tad too empty.
I ain't following shit nigga.
You need to be 18+ to post here.
Nice but half shit taste.
Shit taste but doesn't look bad, remove a figure here and there maybe.
Clusterfuck aslo Gohan looks like he's singing his rage.
Happy new year.
Aw man I got clusterfuck..but yea maybe my Gohan IS singing!
Word, I'm actually going to completely rearrange things this weekend, this was actually a kind of quick setup. I have a bottom shelf too I might move some things too, and I may raise the whole display, so it won't be too low.
Haven't posted in a collection thread in a while. Not much has changed. I built a DVD/Video Game shelf and put it next to the couch. Also got a bit more into my gaming hobby.
Here are a few of the shelves I'm pretty pleased with. Still have more work to do with the other display shelves, but that's part of the fun of collecting. You're never truly done.
wip, going to take better pictures a well. this is the only picture i have at the moment
I haven't posted my display in this thread. I'm just curious what your display looks like, as you've gone on a pretty exhaustive critique of everyone else's. So... put up or shut up?
Why don't people make themes with your display? Why do you feel the need to try and show off your whole collection?
Unless you are displaying a specific set (madoka, haruhi, kancolle, strike witches, etc) there is no really no reason to have 12 figmas on one detolf shelf
Tl;Dr please downsize your display or get use your space better
My god maybe you guys can help me.
I am in dire need of a display for my figures, the dust is killing me. I have figures that range anywhere from $50 to $300 sitting on my shelf "My most recent is the kitsune gal from Muramasa's Blade"
I have next to zero room for anything in this tiny pathetic room, outside of a bed, an a desk.
So I am looking for smaller shelfs, that can accomidate larger figures "13, maybe something I can sit on a desk horizontally? Or a shelf? Anything to help keep the dust off these things.
Swapping my office with my collection room in an effort to make more space for my figures. It's a major undertaking, moving figures, displays, and furniture. Thought you guys might like to see the shitstorm. Hopefully I'll have some nice finished pics in a few days.
Had to move stuff all over the house while swapping furniture. Kitchen counter has become a dumping ground.
A whole box of Obitsu effects.
So here's the office furniture still covered in figures. I had to get them out of their Detolfs
Finally, a nice new canvas to work with. I need to get rid of the table on the right and put in more Detolfs.
Detolfs look good as single units and in pairs, but after a certain point it's ridiculous to have so many. If you have enough high tier figures to fill the amount of Detolfs you bought, you should have invested in actual good store-grade display options. It's like having an armada of trailer park homes when you could have just bought a mansion for the same price.
>Bad tastes but nice display nonetheless.
I get you don't need to like all the same shit that I like but do you really need to say my stuff is bad taste, even though you yourself said they look good? It's totally fine you don't like the same stuff I do. But it doesn't mean I have bad taste. Also judging from your post you are only into anime girls and bugmen, so you're one to talk about having shitty taste.
Post your display or leave. You are critical about one's taste which is entirely opinion based. Calling someone's display shitty taste, when you haven't posted your own, and when your own posts indicate that your own tastes are questionable in nature, doesn't bring anything to the thread.
Also don't get mad that I pointed out you like anime and bugmen, don't be embarrassed about what you like kiddo. Post your display, if you even have one that is.
ok which display is it?
Also let me clarify, I can take all the criticism in the world if you actually gave out real criticism instead of saying "you have shit taste". Once again retard, that isn't criticism, that's a differentiating opinion.
Dude, you're such an idiot, I can't believe I'm still talking with you.
>ok which display is it?
Nah, that's not how it works. If you wanna say what you think, do it without knowing which one is mine. Just give your opinion on everything that's been posted and make me laugh.
I'm not the guy you've been arguing with, but I'll chime in on what he's saying.
Too many times on these collection threads, you'll have people who won't offer critiques, but harsh criticism. Both of these things are based on someone's opinion, but the difference is that critique offers advice on how to improve, but the harsh criticism is only made to put someone else down.
For example, I could look at >>5372835 and say something like "Hah, you must be a poorfag. Only using shitty Detolfs huh? Good luck with all that rattling. Cheap Ikea shit, lol". That's criticism. I'm basically making fun of the other guy, insulting him, and making no effort whatsoever to offer my opinion on how to actually IMPROVE his display.
However, I could also say "I think those are way too many Detolfs and it just doesn't look that good to me. I'd probably only keep 2 of the Detolfs and use other shelving for the rest of the figures". See, THIS is critique. I'm not putting the guy down, I'm offering MY opinion as well as how I think it could improve. However, if I'm being totally honest, I think having 8 Detolfs across the wall like that looks fucking cool. I wish my room could accommodate something like that...
So do you see the difference between critique and harsh criticism? Going around saying "Lol, shit taste!" is bound to ruffle a few feathers; even here on 4chan. I know a lot of people like to use the excuse that "This is 4chan, grow some balls", but that's a cop out. This place isn't nearly as bad as its reputation would lead most people to believe.
And if it matters any, I posted my own display in the thread a while ago. It's >>5369822 >>5369826. I used to post in collection threads a lot, but I stopped since I'd basically NEVER get any critique, and only vague criticism for apparently "flaunting" my collection and rubbing it in people's faces (whatever that means).
Not him but it's not about handling it you fucking manchild. Sure we can handle it, but harsh posts are just useless. And here we are again, actually critiquing why your posts are bad, and you come back with more harsh criticisms as why we should just "take it". Yeah we'll take it since this forum allows any retard to post, but it doesn't mean your posts are quality.
Face it. You're a shitposter.
Not going to argue with you then. If the only thing you got out of my post was "Grow some balls, 4chan is the wild west of the interwebs", then it's pointless.
Have fun telling everyone how shitty their shelves are.
More risers of various sizes would help make things pop.
If you have a Container Store anywhere near you they are great for risers.
Yea, but all the bitching gets annoying after a while, dude.
I so agree with this. I'm constantly suggesting risers, Tamashii stands, and flight pose stands. They help make every figure visible. Also, I don't have a container store around me like >>5376503 suggested. But if you type in "acrylic riser" on ebay, you'll literally get HUNDREDS of options. You can buy a set of 3 different sized risers for like 9 bucks shipped.
True, cool. I may buy another stand or too, I'm kind of running out of them. Will also probably get the Tamashii energy aura.
I had bought my first set of 3 risers from Amazon for like 10 bucks and I love them. I'll go check out the store out of curiosity first though
Well, like I said, I don't have a container store in my area. But I visited my brother in Atlanta last summer and they have one around his apartment. Based on what I saw (and bought), there wasn't much of a variety, and it was like three times the price of the shit I could get on eBay. I bought like 4 risers anyway, though, because I had never seen the big, long risers (n-no homo) on eBay...so I figured it couldn't hurt to have more variety in my display. I'd actually like to get one more of the big ones.
Oh, and also look into flight pose stands (flightpose.com). I know you don't have any air planes or space ships in your display, but if you ever do buy a few air vehicles, flight pose stands are a god send. I've got 4 so far and I use them for 2 of my Lego air craft, my Batplane, and SG Starscream.
ok that's fine, I'll just go on assuming you don't have one. Others in this thread have called you out already as well on this so whatever. The funniest part is you specifically said MY display looked good, even though I have "shit taste". So thanks for the compliment douche nozzle.
Are you sure? You just keep coming back for more even when everyone keeps giving you shit for being a edgy little teenager. Go back to /b/ kiddo.
Also since no one else has felt the need to explicitly spell it out for you, probably because they assumed you had at least half a brain, I'll be the one to do it. You anon, have completely missed the point of this thread. We aren't here to argue about one anon collects over another. How autistic is that? This thread is to post and discuss HOW you display your collection. Now WHAT you display. You could display dragon dildos and My Little Ponies for all I care but if you display it well, I'm not going to shit on you. Unlike you, where you autistically went through the entire thread and posted about everyones displays yet you haven't posted a single constructive thing about them but say they are shitty.
I'm not done ranting at you yet 1/2
I've gone through this entire thread and every display posted has a reply form you autistically long post. Therefore you haven't actually posted in this thread. So let me reiterate, since you don't have a collection to post, get the fuck out. When you actually bring something to this discussion maybe people would actually take your criticism to heart but until then we are just going to ignore anything you have to say and regard it as shitposting. So please kid, go back to /b/. The grown ups are actually trying to have a worthwhile conversation.
You're right anon it's pointless to continue to replying to an obvious shitposter who doesn't even collect toys.
Back on topic
I agree with this anon in terms of risers and various stands. I try to make every figure as visible as I can. So far I've accomplished that with various Flight Stands I've aquired as well as the stands that come with my Marvel Selects. Those things do a great job of causing the figures to be displayed at different heights, and it really makes them look a lot better than a bunch of guys just standing in a line.
Pic related is a pretty good example of how I made my display a little more dynamic by having the figures displayed at different heights.
So i went the container and got some risers! Gotta repose my figures but it already looks much better!
*The container store
They had 4 different sizes, ranging from like 4-8 bucks.
Wow, the risers made a world of difference. That Mario display is especially kick ass. But yea, I'd change the poses of the DBZ display. I usually model my DBZ display poses by rewatching an episode or two and mimicking the characters' poses.
Except I haven't posted my display in damn near a year. Maybe someone way trolling the thread softly with my display sort of how some other guy's display was used for trolling purposes last year.
Thanks! Yep, super happy with the risers, it adds so many possibilities that I'm nowhere near done with my displays. But yea I am happy with the Mario one so far, nice and simple but pops!
Definitely will repose the DBZ shelf, those are definitely quick poses but yep, again, very happy with the space created from the risers. Good idea about watching a couple of episodes to get some ideas, I'm going to do that!
Also don't worry what ppl say, love your display and don't mind you posting it...Good for inspiration!
>Also don't worry what ppl say, love your display and don't mind you posting it...Good for inspiration!
Thanks, glad I'm not coming off as snobbish or however I was apparently perceived last year.
I guess I'll just add some more pointers since this is possibly the first time there has been some decent dialogue in a collections thread and an anon actually took someone's advice to improve their display. I only started collecting DBZ figures 7 months ago, and some guy in a DBZ thread gave me a few pointers that really helped my display:
-Have at least one display shelf with a full on brawl going on
-Use effects parts every now and then (Ki blasts, explosion effects, flame/electric auras, etc)
-If you buy Brolly, it's mandatory that he's displayed fucking up at least one other figure on the shelf
-Watch episodes of DBZ to get character specific poses done right. This also helps with nailing neutral floating/flying poses since DBZ kind of has its own style of floating/flying
Just some things to think about. But your Mario shelf is damn near perfect IMO. If I were a Mario collector, I'd definitely get WoN Bowser and Peach and use your setup as inspiration.
Thanks again so much! Definitely love the input and excited to at least try out all the pointers!
Definitely agree about a full on brawl display - right now they're all just in
'pose for the camera' mode, but I'll have to make a fight going on. Luckily I got at least one villain (18), although I can defect Piccolo if I need :).
Definitely going to get at least one more Tamashii effect to go with my ground one. Ki blast most likely, and I really like how the clear wave looks, to go under flying characters.
No Broly unfort ;(
But will definitely be watching some classic DBZ when I get home tonight!
Thanks about the Mario shelf! I definitely love the 2-story type of display, especially with the warp pipes, it makes it feel like actual space. Definitely want to do more with it, but leaving it alone for now to avoid clutter.
Mostly trying to think what to do with my Nendoroids. I don't like them being stuffed away on the bottom. May just find another space for them for now!
>Mostly trying to think what to do with my Nendoroids. I don't like them being stuffed away on the bottom. May just find another space for them for now!
Glad to help!
Also, you may want to look into some baseball bat display cases to use for your Nendos. I've seen people use them for Amiibos and they look pretty good. I personally use them for my Zelda collection.
Pic isn't mine, but you get the idea. I bought two from Michael's this year. They're not too expensive, and the best part is that they can hang on your wall and they have glass "doors" that protect the figures from dust!
Hey, awesome, thanks a lot.
That picture does look amazing lol, those amiibos...
I saw some Baseball bat displays at The Container Store actually, right next to the risers I bought. I'll do some thinking first, and perhaps go back there! Definitely sounds like a good idea, although I may wait for my January vidya nendos to arrive (hopefully no delays!) to fill it out more. Thanks though, will definitely consider!
3/3, I have some more miscellaneous shit scattered around but I cant be bothered to round it up for a picture. let me know if you want a close up of any shelf or figure in particular
>Those Persona shelves
Makes me kind of regret selling my Labrys and Yukiko...but I needed to downsize / trade in for my Gravity Daze figma, and as much as I love Persona, I don't need a whole shelf for it... but that looks incredible.
What are the cards mind if I may ask?
I said in the original post that I got the cases from Michael's. http://www.michaels.com/studio-decor-baseball-bat-display-case/10174362.html
The picture I posted isn't my exact case, though, since whoever owns the case in that picture installed some LED lights. They don't come with those lights.
Also, the interior isn't lined with anything.
Pic related is what my old setup looked like in the case and what the case looks like stock, without the lights.
I got some new figures and posed them better.
Does asuna's stand come with a clip? because if it can only peg into her back you might want to flip the entire display so she blocks the stand more and you can utilize it for a lunge pose.
pretty much this but have her right arm straight and the right peg raised with her knee bent, her left hand will be up near her cheek since that's kind of her thing when using a sword, her left leg will be straight back as her push off leg.
For kirito just bend his top leg so it looks like he is actually jumping and not just falling down. For sinon she should be sort of jumping backward to get some distance from the big daddy.
That is at least how I'd set up the display with these characters.
I just started collecting this year don't have a detolf or a display case yet. Just threw Iron man in there because I got him today. 1/3
Don't have my minis there normally just put them in for the shot.
> Doesn't really go on /toy/ much, too poor/small living space to collect.
> "detolf detolf detolf"
Wtf is that
> Google it
MY GOD. I am getting one of these bastards for my customs when I move into a new apartment.
i dont get why people keep shit from the same shit seperate, consolidate items from the same series, put all of your dbz shit together either all on the top shelf and move that marvel stuff down or vice versa. put all video game stuff together so your shelves have a cohesive theme through out them instead of just spattering game shit everywhere.
What did you mount the master sword to the wall with? I need a way to mount mine, but no store bought mount can hold the sword and sheath. The one you have looks to be not as wide as mine.
Mate that room better be inaccessible from the street or you are just asking to get robbed.
Best display in the thread IMO. Can I get a close up of your Portal shelf? I have 2 different Portal shelves myself and there's barely any decent merch for the franchise. Just interested in seeing how someone else set their up.
Forgot to respond to you, but I went to Home Depot and got some hooks that you use to mount bikes to the wall. They're pretty cheap, and really sturdy.
But yea, again, best display in the thread dude. I'm interested in seeing the rest of the room. I'd LOVE to be able to have an entire wall dedicated to Detolfs like that...
>I see no joy in this collection. Do you get any enjoyment at all from owning these pieces?
Tremendous enjoyment. Assloads, in fact.
I love this DDV2, much more than I thought I would have, but I don't see why anyone would want a bunch of nearly-identical figures. Especially since there's supposed to be, what, 12 eventually?
Because it's a beautiful art statement! You don't understand! Ashley Wood has the deepest lore, did you know he is retroactively naming them after the 12 Apostles (some Christian cinema bullshit)? All 12 standing proudly, A MONOLITHIC ART STATEMENT, to catch a devil you need a pack of devils! I used to be a 3A'er, it's a world I haven't completely left behind
Those are indeed HT Stormies. The rest of the 1/6th SW figures are newer Sideshow (which I generally prefer to Star Wars HT) although I have Hot Toys Obi Wan and Leia ordered.
>Literal kids shit
We're toy collectors here. Go tip that fedora somewhere else friend.
NORMIES on my board! I'm bring art and culture here. These aren't toys, they're art! I AM COLLECTING ART! TOYS ARE MY LIFE! I don't buy that Hasbro fucking shit for kids, senpai! I'LL RIP YOUR ARMS OFF!
If you're the guy that constantly shitposts about 3A, please please please never stop. Dead serious, I'm a big fan of your work.
I like 3A art a lot, it's really cool and different but I see why people dislike Ashley Wood and his cult-like following. I love the figures, but I couldn't give a shit less about the "lore".
I just don't get the hate. Love your collection anon. Any chance for a close up of the Vader on the very top shelf? The one near the middle...holding and looking at his own helmet?
Never seen that one before. Would appreciate any info you have as well. I'm sure my poor fag wallet will weep but I'd like to shop for one anyway.
Thanks for the kind words.
It's a Sideshow Premium Format statueshit
Thank you! Wow that is nice piece.
I just commented in a different thread how I've always liked that picture of the four stormtroopers with the one on the cycle.
Personally I like how you have some humor in your display. Like the other trooper drinking under the Vader helmet. To say something negative because you have Hot Toys displayed by "toys" is just idiotic in my opinion.
Seriously envy your collection anon. Awesome, awesome stuff.
You guys have probably seen this room before.
And my jar trooper in the living room that started it for me.
Ah shit man, that's really cool.
You ever thought about getting one of the newer molded Kuugas? It's fuckin incredible.
I have the old Kabuto too; would love to get the renewals of both but I collect so many different things I fear I'll never get around to it.
I like monster and mecha stuff mainly. Generally I'll pick up stuff based on design/engineering, even if I don't really like the property. SoC GaoGaiGar is one of my favorites even if I can't get into the show. I really just dislike most Hollywood movies and western video games so my eyes tend to just glaze over stuff like superheroes and Star Wars.
To be honest, I had no idea you were actually a poster on here. When your pics got posted for trolling purposes, I thought someone just dug up a collection pic from the Sideshow Freaks forum.
I love mecha stuff too, especially Macross, Patlabor, and the like. I'd love to get the Arcadia YF-19 but wew, lad is it pricey. I can't stand almost any film or TV made after the 90's, but I do get some of the figures if In like the designs.
Somebody did take my picture from this thread and started trolling with it, but it looks like the mods shut that down.
Did you post your setup?
Thanks for your criticism I hope I've corrected the problem
You have a pretty good yf-19. I have the Arcadia version and it's good but it has some trade offs especially at the higher price point
>Those Ginyu Force figures
What are these? I need them in my life right now.
Just wanted to say I love all of your displays
