They used MNOG as an inspiration, hopefully we get more than the mobile game soon.

Also I hope if Ekimu is awakened in Summer that he makes more masks for the Villagers, that way we can start seeing some variations.
>>
How do I unlock more pieces after completing all levels?
And the combinations?
>>
You should try blowing into water protector's turbines. It'll make em move.
>>
>>4626430
1 piece per day
Currently unknown, assumed to be when you find all pieces for each Toa.
Have fun waiting with us.

Hopefully Ekimu awakening = More masks for the story = Mask packs

Actually, why has no one just gone offline, change the date on their phones, played, then rinse and repeat 160~ times?
>>
Can anyone tell me what happend in the story after stars? I mean, from the movie and the legends sets, I got that mata nui built up a new giant body, but I don't know anything else after that.
>>
>>4626502
Mata Nui put together the prototype giant robot the great beings made, Makuta landed on the planet, they fought, Makuta took a moon to the face, the day was won.

Its best not to think about the post - 08 storyline
>>
>>4626502
>>4626508
then...a lot of bullshit.
>Velika, the Po-matoran from Voya Nui, turned out to be a Great Being in disguise
>Kopaka and Pohatu start to solve a murder mystery and meet the clusterfuck combiner that was the center of the "Who am I?" contest
>Lewa gets kidnapped by spear-chucking primitives (whether or not he then joined the Lantern Corps was never seen)
>some B-Team Toa and Ackar went on a nondescript mission
none of these cringe-inducing stories was ever finished.
>>
>>4626517
Legend says Lewa is still in this cage to this day. Waiting, but waiting for what, who knows.
>>
>>4626517
Dont forget the big reveal about the Red star that ruined a lot of the series in my eyes!
>>
>>4626508

Honestly I don't get how they transitioned Makuta from some evil spirit of shadows to "MY MASTER KEIKAKU EVERYTHING WAS PLANNED"

So was he pretending to be retarded when he started grabbing those pillars when fighting Vakama? He just seems so brutish and overconfident to be a master planner in the movies and beginning of the story.

"It was part of my plan to fuse with takanuva by playing kohlii, totally."

I think Makuta was actually a massive retard who accidentally caused the great catclysm by knocking something over and made shit up as he went along.

>>4626535
Comics, bionicle serial website, I think a novel, bionicle website itself.

OH YEAH SHIT.

Turns out that the Red Star was some sort of corpse-retrieval system. If an MU inhabitant died, they were zapped back up to it and repaired.

>except for Tuyet and a lot of Pit denizens.

anyway, Copac and Potato were trapped on board the red star and met Lhikan.
>>
So were Toa Ignika and Toa Mata Nui separate beings?
I can't imagine the mask in itself having it's own personality, or was it more like a robot?
>>
>>4626543
nah, see, that's just it, Makuta Teridax always plans for the long term, but never for the short term, so everything he does in the now that doesn't relate to his long term goals comes of as childish and brutish, because that pretty much all he is mentally, a child and a brute. He just happens to have some totes rad foresight skills.
>>
>>4626577
>>4626577
The mask definitely has its own personality

He remembers when matoro sacrificed himself which inspired him to become a toa himself

Correct me if I'm wrong though, I think his consciousness died when he sacrificed himself however, allowing mata-nui to enter the mask instead

>>4626578
I guess it makes more sense like that
>>
>>4626577
Separate beings. The mask itself had its own consciousness. Toa ignika was a body it made for itself or if seaweed in karda nui, "toa" Mata nun was a body it made for Mata nui out of sand.

Mata nui didn't unlock the elemental powers, it was ignika.
>>
>>4626583
If I recall both Mata nui and ignika are still in the mask, Mata nui consciousness is just more powerful than ignika is.
>>
I can't decide which Bionicle I want first Kopaka or Pohatu?
>>
>>4626564
the red star only worked if you died in the matoran universe
the pit is outside the GSR if i remember
>>
>>4626577
They were completely different folks.
The Ignika was designed to be sentient, capable of focusing and using its own power to keep itself out of the wrong hands. When Matoro used it and went Anhero, it was completely shaken and wanted to know what it was like to be a hero as well. It made itself a body and a sweet ride out of swamp crap to join the Toa Nuva and help them out. Its personality was naive and childish, and had the highest bodycount of any toa.

When Mata Nui's kernel was shunted into the Ignika, the two entities' programming came to blows. Mata Nui effectively killed the Toa Nuva's "liddle buddy" and became the sole inhabitant of the Mask of Life.
>>
>>4626588
I always assumed ignika and mata nui were the same being in the way jesus and god are supposed to be the same being or some shit, ignika being the personality and powers of mata-nui, but none of the memories or experience.
>>
>>4626592
why is it called a universe? It's just a collection of biodomes. I mean, sure, for the matoran's intended purpose, it would mean "the universe" to them, but is it not more accurate to say the great spirit robot now that we know better?
>>
so what were kanohi, from a Great being's stnadpoint?
what was the decision to make all the cells of their robot explorer need masks to stay functioning?
>>
>>4626605
Same reason our cells have a kill-switch, I guess.
>>4626603
the GBs intended it to be a self-contained microcosm. To paraphrase Carl Sagan, "A universe unto itself"
>>
>>4626603
either is correct, its just depending on the perspective.
the matoran had no idea ever that they were in a robot

to keep them from doing things when they shouldn't, sort of a multipurpose on-off switch combined with a settings dial. The matoran would only do what they wanted, when they wanted. It'd be dark if the matoran weren't so fanatically supportive of it.
>>4626611
I guess that's fair. Is it ever explained what is done with the remains of the two spirit robots once the fight between them was finished?

Can we talk about how FUCKED the whole "Legend of Mata Nui" was?
Like, it was a false history that the Turaga made specifically to deceive the Matoran.
This isn't a retcon, either, IT WAS INTENDED TO BE A LIE FROM THE START.
That bitchin' animation that entranced us when we were kids? That spoke of some grand and mysterious history that the Island of Mata Nui held?

Is it me or is Protector of Earth the only smart Protector? I'm looking at all the Toa's "power-up" forms, they're all basically the Protectors giving up their weapon to the Toa, which leaves them defenseless, except for Protector of Earth, if any of the other Protectors get jumped by spiders or other bad guys while the Toa aren't nearby they're basically screwed. Come to think of it this also makes Onua the only Toa without a ranged weapon since the others get shooters from their respective Protectors. Maybe if PoE's shooter wasn't part of his torso he'd give it to Onua too.
>>
>>4626670
>aside from chest shooter, PoE also has his knives
Fuck yes.
>implying Onua isn't strong enough to throw his weapons
Anything is a ranged weapon if you try hard enough.
>>
>>4626670
>Maybe if PoE's shooter wasn't part of his torso he'd give it to Onua too.

Is there only 1 LoSS? All the little animations showing the Toa finding their golden mask have the LoSS there to fight them, does the LoSS just get around that fast or is there maybe multiples, one guarding each golden mask?
>>
>>4626690

>>
>>4626690
I still think it's funny that they have to put all this effort into stomping a few spiders

what's the point of the golden spider mask, though
>>
>>4626688
I tried last year. I hadn't noticed that he had been charging me yearly ever since my last purchase in 2011. I contacted him about it, and he said he wanted some ids or something, and I just never replied because again, I liked BZpower for a long time, and thought whatever, it wasn't that much money. But now that it's happening again, it's not cool.
>>
>>4626690
This would be interesting, really. The Toa face the Lord of Skull Spiders at their Golden Mask shrine-thing, and when they go to the ruins, they see it go to the Golden Skull Spider mask, and they think it's the tool for controlling all of the Skull Spiders, when, in reality, the mask was giving orders to that LOSS and that there's multiples to relay its commands.

>>
>>4626690

>>
>>4626690
>>4626694
There's only 1, he must just be good at escaping. I'm sure there'll be some sort of underground cavern for him to get around via,
I just wish the set was bigger. Is there such a thing as an oversized Lego KO?

>>4626698
Controls the smaller spiders.
>>
>>4626701
how is it bait? each spider is about the size of their heads and one toa is a good size to take on LOSS by themselves
>>
How tall is original Tahu compared to his newest iteration?
>>
>>4626698
the golden mask of shadow spiders is, in fact, a legit mask of power, with the ability to manipulate the smaller mask spiders and to sense through their senses, basically the mask of hivemind.
It is in fact through the mask that the LOSS controls the lesser spiders, not through its own natural powers.

>>
>>4626645
I agree, although am not a big fan of the lack of substantial villains, nor the apparent silver/gunmetal curse all the Toa seem to be suffering from.

The Protectors are inexpensive and have new shooters that don't use specialized ammo, just regular 1x1 studs, the Toa come at 2 price points and feature gear activated movement in one or both arms just like the original 2001 toys and come with their normal and gold masks, the only set that's kind of iffy is the actual villain set, the Lord of Skull Spiders, which while a neat set is pretty small for something that's supposed to be threatening to the Toa. All the Toa and Protectors come with a little skull spider so there's something for them to fight if that's important.
>>
>>4626741
If the old trends hold true, then we'll be getting more begreebled parts as the theme progresses. In this day and age, the 20+ new molds we got is nothing to sneeze at, and we'll likely get more and more specialized shells with each wave.
>>
>>4626732

Toxic Reapa is one of my favorite hero factory villains, a lot of the villains from the Breakout wave would fit in with Bionicle without looking too out of place, and also the villains from the Jungle Planet wave since they're basically all various animals. In fact the giant scorpion and witch doctor could work as titans for the current Bionicle story, instead of LoSS, the Witch Doctor could be the one controlling the skull spiders.
>>
>>4627010
>Cordak Blaster
Decent but temperamental. Kinda bulky and a little to heavy, but looks cool.
>Mydak Skyblaster
Super effective, but really large and heavy. Also feels the least like a LEGO launcher.
>Tridax Pods
Not so much a launcher as a bomb dropping mechanism. They look really cool just as is though, and were a fun mechanism.
>Nynrah Ghostblasters
Kinda shite but looked interesting.
>Thornax launchers
Not great, but okay. LEGO kinda spammed them in HF so they got old really quickly.
>Squid Launchers

>>

If you're talking projectile launchers in general, aside from >>4626978 there's:

>Pirates cannon that shoots 1x1 round bricks
>flick fire missiles
>small catapults
>large brickbuilt catapults
>1x4 brick with pressure-launched missiles
>minifig-held stud shooters
>2015 minifig super jumpers
>collapsible brickbuilt walls (ie. exploding wall in LotR Helm's Deep)

And BIONICLE builds that technically count as projectile launchers:

>Krana-launching Bohrok faceplates
>Kraata-launching Rahkshi backs
>finger-propelled Visorak (and later HF jumper beasts)
>mask-launching 2015 heads

So just from a Technic/Bangle perspective, there's

>RoboRider Wheel Tosser
less launcher, more wheel-catapult
>Throwbot/McToran disks
Spring-loaded arm action, guaranteed to lose your disks behind a nearby couch
>Technic missile launcher/"Blunt Shooter"
Cool, but the springs were BuzzBee'd toward the end
>Bohrok Krana Launcher
Parasitic face-raper. Nuff said
>Kraata ejection
bleh
>Disk launchers
The Matoran editions were plentiful and definitely a step up from the McToran ways, but the Vahki jaws were weaksauce
>Rhotuka Spinners
Great in terms of distance and noise factor (whizzzZZZZZZZZZZ!), but were fuckall hard to aim
>Zamor launchers
fuckin' instant classic.
>Squid launchers
more like a doofy crossbow ring/dog poop inclusion combo-pack.
>Cordak launchers
fuckin' neato, but the projectiles were easy as tits to lose.
>Skyblasters
the repeating rifle to the Zamor's blunderbuss...with all the same drawbacks.
>Nynrah ghostblasters
Neato in concept, lame in execution
>Thornaxx launcher
2edgy name with lots of x's or z's? Check.
infinite rehashability? Check.
Actually functions as a fun launcher? NOPE.

easy ammo and customization of the Zamor launcher, but in a sleek and compact package.

Is there any good read on Bionicle Lore?

I played with the toys back in the day but I never got into the lore, I got back when I saw Tahu in the store the other day but now I wanna learn about the old lore, it sounds really cool but I feel that I can't grasp it, the first ones are the oldest and most of the other sets are prequel stuff or what?
>>
>>4627136
Most of the books (and honestly most of the actually good stuff) is linked to in the OP.

The breakdown is as follows:

>BIONICLE Chronicles - four books in chronological order
>BIONICLE: Mask of Light - one book, occurs directly after Chronicles (adaptation of a movie you don't need to see)
>BIONICLE Adventures - ten books set 100 years and a few months before the events in BIONICLE Chronicles, the prologues/epilogues to each of them will require knowledge of the characters and events in Chronicles
>BIONICLE Legends - eleven books set shortly after Mask of Light, following the story all the way until the end of the supposed "first story" of the cancelled BIONICLE G1.
>>
>>4627136
At the very top are the books

Start from the first one bruh

I am actually readings legends #7 now

Wait, what. This is actually news to me. How is that even possible? More importantly, why? Why have little islands inside of spherical cavities inside of a giant fucking astronomy robot? Weren't the Matoran supposed to supposed to be maintenance nanomachines? If that's still the case, there's no point to the islands because they wouldn't even know the difference if the great beings just dropped them inside the robot. How do they even do their job? How is the Red Star visible anywhere outside Metru Nui, or for that matter, outside the GSR? Is it outside the GSR? If that's the case, how is it visible from inside the GSR?

Slightly different gripe, but what was the point of masks and elemental powers if they were just nanomachines? It was some kind of accident, right? I can't imagine too many instances where those would help with keeping a giant robot functioning, or why the great beings would go out of their way to design something like that.

seriously what the fuck is wrong with these people

I read a post about how the original series was apparently problematic because the female characters were pretty much all water-themed, which is typical for this sort of thing.

It's a goddamn toy line about robots

I bet these are the same kind of people that assigned sexualities to fn@f animatronics
>>
>>4627251
In MNOG there were a bunch of onu-matoran miners who stated they could not dig any further because the metal in the ground was impenetrable, a sneaky reference to the face of mata nui underneath the island
>>
>>4627255
So Makuta's lair was actually inside the robot?

And speaking of the robot, what was the deal with Voya Nui and Pit? Did Voya make it all the way to the surface after the cataclysm or did it just stay in limbo somewhere between top and bottom?
>>
>>4627238
Nah, the giant robot blew my goddamn mind back in 2008, and I still think it's a cool twist that was rarely alluded to, even if a little over-thought and under-thought in a few areas. I just assumed that the islands were all naturally formed on top of the robit, and that there were plenty of passages to equivalents of Mangaia on each one like on Mata Nui.

Why even create the Bohrok if it's just one island that needed to be destroyed?
>>
>>4627261
Bohrok were just a backup. IF Mata Nui crashed and IF his camouflage function activated.

It was just bad luck that Vakama and co. decided to live there.

That was pretty much the one thing Greg wrote that I will vehemently declare not canon. What a load of fucking shit that was. So every single death that has ever occurred in the series no longer has any weight, because they're all just upstairs and waiting to be respawned? What a load of bullshit.
>>

Greg pretty much forgot Makuta had the Mask of Shadows and decided to give him the Mask of the Everything-Proof Shield. Ever since about 2004 he started acting like the most obnoxious kid on a playground.

"NOOOO, UH, ACTUALLY I SURVIVE BECAUSE I KNEW YOU WERE GOING TO DO THAT!"
"NUH-UH, DOESN'T WORK ON ME BECAUSE I NOW HAVE THIS POWER WHICH BLOCKS YOU!"
"HAHA, SORRY BUT NO, THAT'S NOT GOING TO EFFECT ME BECAUSE I'M TOO STRONG FOR YOU!"
>>
>>4627266
I do wonder though, why would they need to clean the island if Mata Nui just breaks through that shit anyway?

It's funny. The whole story reminds me a lot of mythological and religious texts. Some really strange shit going on at times, some things that just make little to no sense and quite a lot of internal inconsistencies, but it still makes for an interesting story.

My theory is that everything that isn't retracted into the robot has to be removed because actual future inhabitants of the planet could just so happen to investigate that area of the sea floor and find remains of tons of strange plants, structures and artifacts. If the island is blank before it breaks apart, all that is left behind is a big pile of earth.

So I just finished reading all of the Legends books, and I'm still trying to get over a few things. Firstly, this:
>"Onua readied his Midak Skyblaster - and then discovered to his surprise that his weapon was no longer a skyblaster. It had morphed into something resembling Bitil's launcher."

What the fuck? Why did the Mistika trio randomly have their blasters transformed like that? Is this explained in the serials or something?

Another unexplained thing was the Av-Matoran having a telepathic link with the Phantoka trio when riding on their backs. Not only was it unimportant, it too was also never explained.

Next is the Toa stumbling on a group of Av-Matoran transforming into Bohrok. Once again, what the fuck? Was that necessary? It just felt like Greg was trying to make every itty bit as grimdark as possible.

Lastly, why did the Toa Nuva reawaken Mata Nui even after the realised it was all part of the Makutas keikaku? And why did the Makuta pretend to try to kill them?
>>
>>4627314
The blasters were part of the adaptive armor, and they adapted.

The whole mental link was a big deal in promotional stuff

We've been over Bohrok in this very thread

Not much sense, but at least little.

Does anyone know the reason for the Phantoka powering-up besides "buy more toys"? Was it because they wanted to allow the canisters to carry the matoran, because the matoran already have jetpacks/batwings.

They just wanted kids to buy both the canister sets and the Matoran ones too. They figured the best way to make them do this was to have the Toa and Makuta give everyone piggy backs. I thought it was sweet.

My headcanon is that Gavla would occasionally ask Vamprah to do a loop-de-loop in her own tsundere way. Vamprah would oblige, not saying anything.

Bought Queen Beast on clearance and revamped her into the Queen of Skull Spiders.

>True ruler of the Skull Spiders
>LoSS is just a deceitful brute
>Stole the GMoSS from one of Makuta's abandoned forges, which was originally a gift to her majesty
>Traps QoSS within a tomb, and takes control of her horde
>Upon the Toa defeating the LoSS and making their way to the ancient city, they accidentally free her
>She promises to let them pass if they give her the GMoSS
>Tahu, Kopaka and Pohatu want to rek her shit
>Onua gives her the mask against their wishes
>She casts it into a river of lava beneath them (on a bridge or something)
>She goes back to ruling her kingdom within the interim between Okoto and the ancient city

Something like that. We just have no backstory on the horde and highly doubt we will anyways. LoSS just doesn't cut if for me as the "big bad" of the spiders. Potato quality because of IPod.

I think so too. Vrahno's designs are good.

I gotta say though that of all the slight changes he made in the designs, it's this bit that irks me. Pohatu's flesh neck is just.. incredibly unsettling to me. It looks so easy to rupture, I feel like it would've been better if there was just some flesh wrapped around the pieces like he did for the limbs.

But that does mean that the other eye must be connected with a 3 long axle. That eye is also more likely to fall out.
And the camera can move freely with something like the mandibles which keep it straight..

Hope that made sense.

Tahu has 17 pieces left

Kopaka has 14

Onua has 12

Since we are going under the speculation that the combiner forms get revealed when all pieces are collected, the above three aren't as crucial

We want the other three,

so gali has 14 pieces left

pohatu has 15

lewa has 16

Most recently, 44015 Evo Walker comes with two in black at a good price of 10 USD.This is the set you'll find the most of in stores right now, and that's a good thing because it also contains a few other really useful pieces.

You can also have your Toa step on the mini-Hero figures if you roll that way.

That's what you have to work with if you're yuropoor. The one I started modeling on was a banged-up Frankenstein's monster kept alive with shitty older parts and broken cables, but it couldn't take it and it fried itself. The second PC was a similarly crappy one we had lying around just in case. It killed itself.

The current one isn't much better, it's also made up of scrap generously thrown our way by people we know and it has the same shitty pirated Windows on it as the former one, so I can't even get any video editors installed. At least I can watch muh Bonkle vids on it and model some stuff.

My dad promised to find me something useful and affordable, the same way he got my bro a breddy stronk machine which I'm drooling after, but he kinda lost his job, left us for some lunatic ho and her kids and now leads a carefree life spreading the word of some ancient alien forest spirit thing, exploring Transylvania, hiding from "the system" governed by reptoid people, and proclaiming the evilness of money while also looking for a job because he still hasn't mastered the art of eating light. None of that is a joke. He's a fucking dipshit. So... not counting on him fulfilling that promise anymore.

Sorry for all that text, it just feels comfy shittalking him and complaining is in my yuropoor blood.

Finally there's 2283 Witch Doctor, a HF set from all the way in 2011. No chance of finding him on shelves, but if you find him cheap (he retailed for 30 USD), he comes with ten of those beautiful double-sockets, along with a ton of other bones and shells.

Witch Doctor is highly recommended if you can find him for a good deal. He's not just chock full of those sockets you crave, but he is also a great general CCBS parts pack, and a good instructions build.

Would have liked it if the older movies designed more recognizable Lego pieces into the characters, (WOS did that technically) but I like those more. Lot a creativity in those designs overall. TLR's designs were boring and the added things (creepy double teeth, spinning shits, metal loincloths) didn't really add much, I felt, more like detracted from their looks. The G1 is so iconic by now so you can not be biased about them.

The new bionicles don't have that but their superior when it comes to size, articulation, playability etc
>>
>>4627832
I can do it with the white background but I don't think i'll be able to replicate the lighting as well as you'd like
>>
Suggestion for first Toa? I'm probably only getting one for awhile, which one is the best?

I'm kinda gravitating towards Tahu, because he's the "leader" and also because I got Tahu way back in the day. Do encourage me to change my mind tough.
>>
>>4627847
well, not that the exo toa really helped the toa fight the bahrag
speaking of which, i heard somewhere that the bahrag set has 630 pieces! is that true?
>>
>>4628177
I think it's actually the size and bulk of the new ones that is working against them in this regard. The original Toa Mata were so simple and to the point that the whole idea of the design immediately stood out at first glance. Even though they were essentially clone sets, their small size made it easy to differentiate between them based on masks (which were also extremely well-designed), weapons and minimal build differences.
The 2015 Toa, on the other hand, simply have so many elements to their design that it becomes impossible to take it all in at once. Your mind paints an extremely simplified image of the figure and at least some of the ideas that the designers are trying to convey are lost in the process. Case in point, it took me months of looking at pictures of the sets again and again until I actually started getting the idea that their armor configuration was made to resemble certain clothes. With the Toa Mata, I never noticed anything new beyond the initial look.
>>

>>
>>4628177
That's a pretty difficult question. I prefer the look of the old parts for Bonkles, and I especially prefer the very clean look of the original masks, but the new sets are much more posable and I like how differentiated they are in their builds, with quite a lot of detail.

I guess overall that I prefer the new sets from a technical standpoint, but the Mata will always have a special place in my heart. I just wish I could get articulated versions of the original limbs.

Had a weird dream that placed G2 as a distant G1 prequel:
>Protectors are Agori on an ancient island on Spherus Magna
>Use Mask of Time to summon Toa Mata that are floating in canisters in G1 for thousand years
>G2 events happen
>Later, Great Beings come to Spherus Magna.
>Element Lords created, inspired by six ancient heroes on island of Okoto
>Kanohi are inspired by Masks of Power
>Makuta named after ancient Mask Maker
>Toa Mata later named after themselves.
Looking at it now, doesnt make any sense, but made sense during the dream..

Kopaka is wearing snow boots and thick fur clothes. Can also look like a paladin kinda look due to the white and gold armour.

Tahu is wearing baggy pants, dunno how it relates to the fire region though. I also saw him as a samurai due to his hip armour and the swords on his back being like war flags.

Onua looks like a SWOLE dwarf. Not much too add.

Pic related for Pohatu.

Lewa has something akin to fur lining with his silver shoulder things and is wearing baggy pants/comandos.

Gali is a gril.

Obviously this is all self interpretation.
>>
>>4628243
Kopaka has a fur coat (shoulder armor) and winter boots (overly bulky legs).
Pohatu has some kind of desert wanderer gear with armor on his shins and one arm, while the other arm is covered by decorated cloth.
Tahu has samurai armor, complete with flags/swords carried on his back.
Lewa has either some kind of coat or a backpack with those pieces going over his shoulders.
I have absolutely no idea about Onua and Gali.
>>
>>4628266

But boy did it feel like it when I was building them. Shit took hours, even though the design isn't that complex. But it's basically Technic, so there's a lot of small parts.

Lego is a stronger brand now than it was back then, if Bionicle becomes some hugely successful thing like Chima or Ninjago, we could expect at least a television show, though movie would also be likely.

That being said, I am not sure how successful Bionicle will be, I fear the higher price point of these fairly impressive sets will be a turn-off, and that the current ridiculous demand is mostly due to nostalgic fans of the original who never actually bought the sets after a while finally being old enough to go out and buy the new ones with their own money. I HOPE Bionicle does well, because I love the brand, and the fact that Lego brought it back indicates that they care about it too. I feel like the Toa were, and have the potential to be again, some of Lego's most iconic original characters.

"Humanizing" Bionicle characters can never turn out looking anything but cringe-worthy. Its not like they are humans that look like robots because lego, they are 85% robotic lifeforms and should be portrayed roughly as such.

That being said, the fact that Protectors seem to reproduce changes stuff up in G2. Would be neat if they had vagoos and what not, simply for porn reasons.

First wave is definitely more iconic and G1 in general had higher construction complexity by comparison of what's seen of the new gen so far.

Still, I'd like to see some more liberties taken. Onua's new hammer is an okay concept, just wished it looked better. Looking back, most of the canister sets since the Bohrok were samey to one another in their wave, and today I'd just feel like an idiot if I bought them all unless I want to MOC. I liked how diverse the Toa Mata's weapons and functionality were and would like to see something like that again.

I think I might settle for the Protectors when they arrive here. They seem to offer a bit more variety despite being stuck with the same masks.

>>4628680
Really? I don't have much experience with CCBS, the last Toa I ever got were the Inika and I thought they were much simpler and didn't like them. I don't think I may have articulated my point very well earlier, I remember sets being less reliant on custom parts and had to rely on whatever Technic parts were available. They were usually a lot more 'stiff' when it comes to articulation, but I thought they utilized clever use of parts that existed prior to Bionicle, I like stuff such as the Boxor over that queen from the Toa Metru series whose name I forgot.

Do you have any of the new sets? Gear functions and technic functions and all that stuff are all back. With the Gear functions functioning EXACTLY like they did on the mata, but with some extra engineering to prevent the arms from flopping back down. Along with all this functionality, there is also the high amounts of articulation present in the Inika.
>>

>>
>>4628743
>I liked how diverse the Toa Mata's weapons and functionality were
Apart from Pohatu, the Mata all had pretty similar functionality.

And yeah they're easily the most complex. Pretty much everyone has a unique-ish build, more parts than any previous canisters and have Inika-tier articulation plus the functionality of the Mata, with neither getting in the way of the other.
>>
>>4628766
Really, my only concern with the new sets is how they plan to outdo themselves in set design for future waves. These new sets feel like the CCBS system being used to its fullest.

Ever since Bohrok I can only recall the Toa Nuva and Metru having at least one member with a different weapon setup compared to the rest that isn't just changing the shape of the weapon bits they have on their hands, and I only bothered as far as the Inika, getting one set from each generation.

As said earlier though, I think the Protectors are neat in this regard. I still don't think that I'd buy them all, but it's certainly a lot more fresh.
>>
>>4628845
Save up, fellow britbro. S@H has always been a pleasant experience for me. I bought all thirteen sets and it came to £158, so if you're smart about it you can save up and split it into three orders all with free delivery AND the free polybag or whatever they're doing that month.

Since Australia is getting them in stores February, I'd imagine that it's the same for New Zealand. You can still get them off S@H now though.

the age range is 8 -14 anyways
you were perfectly fine to play with those back then

G1 first Toa:
Tahu: Sword (one arm moving)
Kopaka: Sword (one arm moving)
Lewa: Axe (one arm moving)
Pohatu: Kicks (one leg moving)
Gali: Dual Hooks (Both arms moving)
Onua: Dual Claws (both arms moving)

G2 first Toa:
Tahu: Dual Swords (Two arms moving)
Kopaka: Spear (One arm moving)
Lewa: Dual Axes (Both arms moving)
Pohatu: Boomerangs (One arm moving)
Gali: Tridant (One arm moving)
Onua: Hammer (Both arms moving)

They also have the dual weapon functionality of the Toa Nuva. On top of this, they each have fairly unique builds and full articulation.

Some insight on the skull spiders, all information is taken from the game and might not be canon:
scorpion skull spiders (as seen in the stone sets) have a temporary shield that damages attackers while active and they come in all colors, not just blue (at least in green too).
The color of the spider (be it scorpion or not) determines it's health, being the green ones the toughest and the silver ones the weakest.
The weaker spiders may also be faster but I'm not sure about that.

Can someone confirm this/prove me wrong?

>>4628891
Voya Nui was outside the robot. during 2006-07, but it was originally inside the robot, it just broke out of it when the robot crashed. The pit and Mahri Nui were also on top of the robot.

I'll just have to wait then, like with PAL video games. Gives me some time to think about their MOC potential.

>>4628879
>Boomerangs

So that's what they are. I did notice how they're all different heights too, but something still seems a bit off for me when it comes to the Toa.
>>
>>4628890
I stupidly placed my order on the Friday night which wasn't the best time probably. I only just now got the e-mail about it moving and it's due Wed.
If you placed it now maybe Friday/Saturday if you're lucky?
I'm a Scotanon so I don't know how much longer it takes compared to England.
>>
>>4628898
Im going to assume the game has some non-canon elements, as canonically, we know that:
Green = X-ray vision
Blue = Strongest / Toughest
Silver = Fastest

How does shipping work over there? Here in Australia they only ship stuff on Tuesday and Thursday.

Give me MOCs anons, I need to make a new thread

No idea, if they send stuff out on Tuesday that'd make sense since it's been Tuesday for one hour.

It's simply an interest like any other. In the case of Bonkles, they're totally customizable to people's tastes only limited by the amount of spare parts you have as well as creativity, and there's also some neat stories and lore. I assume many here grew up with them too.

For other things like more expensive figures as discussed on /toy/, some people just want merchandise from their favorite vidya, anime, etc.
>>
>>4629011

Don't worry, I had all the bionicle toys until 2nd generation I believe then I lost interest. Probably spent my time gaming from 12 to 20.

Last toy I bought was a transformer figure

to answer my own questions

> 1. How old are you people?

20

>2. Do you have any girlfriend?

Yes

3. Do you have any other hobbies? -if so, what are they?

I haven't collected any toys since I was 12. Want to get a iron man figma though

hobbies are:
Songwriting
Muay Thai
Gym
literature

occasional gaming on PC
