>going to be loaded with accessories
Where were you when Dante was finally getting a figure as cool as he is?
Looks like it has the same articulation as the AC Brotherhood figures, and since the QC on that was fucking astonishing I'm hoping it'll be the same on this.
..This is the NECA, right?
Yep, it's NECA.
This seems to be a character NECA cares about which means he'll be sublime.
Their vidya figures are usually bare minimum requirements but their AC ones were elder god tier, and this looks to be that quality.
I'm fucking pumped. If this does well that could mean DMC3 dante down the line at some point which would basically be the greatest thing ever since the only two offerings for DMC3 dante are an outdated revoltech and glorified statue.
oh shit oh shit oh shit oh shit oh shit oh shit oh shit oh shit oh shit oh shit oh shit oh shit oh shit oh shit oh shit
lots of kids say it's just "ohh his hair's different" but if you play the game dante is an unbearable twat and the game is too fucking easy
anyway back to dante if they can make a dante from 3 and a Vergil then NECA basically has done every figure I could ever want from then barring a Snake and the Doomguy
First MAster Asia and now this! We are truly living the Golden age of Toys
Definitely picking this up, hopefully they do DMC3 and 4 as well. I'd love to see them make a Bayonetta too.
> Not Shit
Yeah, not falling for that.
Try keeping the troll stuff to a minimum, plz. We're trying to have a good time here.
Calling it now, Neca won't release this or if they do, it won't be for at least a year or two. They had us salivating over the Borderlands vault hunters and cockblocked us, it'll happen again.
1. I said a year or two. I predict if we ever see this, it'll be at the end of the year rather than January and 2. I am bitter, because Neca consistently show they can't be trusted when they unveil something nice. Axe, Salvadore and Zero never saw the light of day and Neca constantly just brush off if they'll make them.
the borderlands characters had far less appeal than fucking Dante, a character fans have wanted a decent figure of since 2001.
Dante will do well. As you can already see he's getting great reception on twitter which no one really gave the BL2 protagonists because they're just not as desired.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't NECA unveil and cancel a Dante figure years ago? Might've been Palisades. But I remember a DMC1 Dante figure with an extremely similar prototype to this one getting announced and canceled.
Yes, they canceled it because Capcom is incredibly difficult to work with and essentially axed it for them. But yes, this was a proto from years ago they're now able to do, they've fixed it up and it's finally getting a release.
wait, whats the issue with NECAs robocop?
I thought it was real good, i have him and no problems so far. did i luck out?
No you didn't luck out, the guy is just over exaggerating his bullshit. I have like, four of their Robocops and they're all great...the jetpack version and the regular holster version being just flatout awesome.
>was just about to order revoltech dante even though it has outdated articulation because it's the best we have
Not familiar with the NECA line, weeaboo here. What scale, price, poseability are we looking at here?
>Dante, Raiden and the Ninja Turtles will be able to hang out and have pizza parties
see, I'm worried that his elbows and knees won't bend any further than 90 degrees, that he won't bend in the middle at all, and that he'll have difficulty extending his arm straight out in front of his chest. Looks like the jacket's lapels will get in the way.
Scale about 1/10, price about 20 bucks, posability, looks to be similar articulation to their Dutch figure, which was decent, but with double jointed knees instead of the shit knees that were the only particularly bad thing about Dutch. Don't expect Figuarts level posability, but there'll be articulation everywhere you want it, just without as good clearance.
>Where were you when Dante was finally getting a figure as cool as he is?
>Yep, it's NECA.
I'm not sure as I'm still waiting for that moment.
Can't Bandai or someone pick up some Capcom/Platinum Games licenses and churn out some Dante and Wonder Red figures.
Nah I got the first release and was totally satisfied with it but I actually remember right when it came out sifting through a peg of them at TRU because all of the heads were assembled slightly differently with more or less of his nose sticking out and trying to decide which one looked the best.
Hope he comes with all his signature weapons including the Nightmare Beta
What? I'm not trolling or trying to be like LOL NECAN'T. I'm excited for this figure, I'm just saying NECA doesn't include many accessories with things. They do separate masked and unmasked versions of Predators instead of packing them with 2 heads.
It's not going to come with anything besides what's pictured, but if we get lucky there's a small chance that maybe they'll do a second version with Ifrit and like the grenade launcher or something.
>instead of packing them with 2 heads.
It costs money to do that, the line quickly becomes highly unprofitable if you don't spread out accessories or don't reuse molds, there's a reason why it doesn't happen very often with ANY toy line.
Actually that happens a lot on more expensive toylines. It doesn't happen with NECA because they want to keep their figures 20 bucks, because that probably sells more to their audience than more accessories for more money, and that's fine. I'm literally not even complaining or criticizing it. I don't care. I'm just explaining why Dante isn't going to come with more accessories.
It happens with Hasbro's stuff too. There's a lot of accessories that didn't cost out with Marvel and Star Wars. They spent 2+ years trying to get the second piece to the scanner crew box out because it wouldn't cost out otherwise. We finally got it in a damn Kmart exclusive pack.
>my fucking face when pure joy and possible tears incoming
I'm so fucking happy right now, please be good, please be good.
>wanted a Dante but the revo was too small and the PAK was too big
This is fucking perfect.
It's got cool designs. Even people who stopped liking the game still follow the comic, which is really good.
just saw this news on facebook, goddamn i'm so excite!
They've been sitting on this one for ages. Shit, between MA Gamera, Figuarts Master Asia, and Figma Guyver/The Major this is the year of "never gonna happen" getting released.
To be honest I'm a bit sad I just spent 23 on the Revo, but fuck it. It's not like this will be 1/12 scale anyway, will probably pick it up since it should be 20 bucks in stores.
Shame it isn't the DMC4 Dante though.
I talked to a neca rep, this thing is a foot tall in person. I thought we'd finally get a bitchin foot tall dante, that is not the case.
He says if he sold well, we might see an eighteen inch dante. I told him it's a weird scale and probably the reason why the giant figures aren't picked up enough.
Then we shot the shit and it turns out he was a pretty cool guy. Did the diorama work for the displays.
Also the second Yeager wave it's confirmed for December Rey lease at the latest.
I don't know, I think it's best they release them in this order, that of the games sans 2.
I just hope they figured out a good way to do the coat. Probably like Ezio's soft plastic, but I hope he all least comes with one not swayed to the side.
Dante and Vergil (and dare I say Lady) from 3 next, and then Nero and Dante from 4.
Ok, so is anyone else worried scalpers will try their damn hardest to scalp this figure?
At one hand, cherno alpha is for a reasonable $29.99 on amazon. At the other, next to all the Big Daddy and Isaac doesn't go below the $100 mark.
>To pre-order, or not to pre-order
You are correct sir. I realized Neca did this, but I had no idea they were shrunken from a foot tall!
They figures really lose a lot of detail, so you can imagine how great they look at that size! I hope they go to the 12" scale and drop the 18" line for everything but kaiju and robots.
Then they can blow PAK completely out of the water.
is it safe to say Dante's articulation will be on par with Ninja Gaiden Hayabusa Ryu?
No, why would it be safe to say that? We have no indication of Dante's joint setup yet, and recent NECA figures have not been as articulated as Ryu, him being one of the most articulated they've ever made.
his first proto type was released years ago around the same time as the Ninja Gaiden figure came out, correct? Wasn't there a toyfair pic of the Dante prototype back then? Another anon posted it, I didn't save it. I know big bad toy store has a weird pic of the prototype, but it was a CG model with very simple articulation
>Video game Rambo
Well that's gonna be interesting.
Got any more Jaeger pics?
Nah, shoulda taken some more. Tacit ronin was a beast, much smaller than blue though, who was the same height as gypsey dag.
8 bit rambo looked like regular rambo, but with neone red and orange pants. Pretty much a lot like predator vision arnold, but more human.
The terminator versus robocop figures were MUCH crazier. They made the gold terminators, and repainted a few of the arnolds to resemble the ones you saw in game.
I regret not taking more pictures, profusely.
Wait wait wait, Robocop vs. Terminator figures? Holy fucking shit! The Genesis version was my fuckin CHILDHOOD. That game was so amazing and so incredibly difficult. I am going to need to get all of them.
I also hope this coerces them into making a Cain. The Cain fight was only the second level boss but it was terrifying.
Its just repaints of current terminator and robocop figures. Ain't shit to be excited about.
I however would be VERY excited if Neca did a non-video game version of burtons Batman in the 6 inch scale.
>Wait wait wait, Robocop vs. Terminator figures? Holy fucking shit! The Genesis version was my fuckin CHILDHOOD. That game was so amazing and so incredibly difficult. I am going to need to get all of them.
Mine too pal! The dirama was set up to be like the very first city level, never made it past teh second boss, because I had to return it to the rental place. Fun as hell!
Don't know if they'll make Cain, but they made practically everyone they already tooled.
>never made it past teh second boss, because I had to return it to the rental place
It's worth revisiting just because the sound and graphics on the Genesis version are fucking magnificent. Like, just go grab the rom right now, you'll still be delighted.
And as far as not making it past the second boss, I don't blame ya. Cain is a beast. Some of the later bosses in that game take such absurd amounts of firepower to take down. This is one of the only games where I can actually recall taping down the fire button and walking away to go eat cereal.
The level 5 boss fight is also very cool. You face down an ED-209 before a bank of monitors in the OCP building. Partway through the fight you can blow off one of its giant cannon arms, pick it up, and start using it yourself!
I think we have a pretty decent indication of what a lot of his joints are because you can see most of them. He definitely has pretty much the same setup in his knees and ankles as Ryu, but looks like he probably has only single-jointed elbows. His wrists look like ball-hinges that will probably get less movement than Ryu's but in more directions. Shoulders are basically the same but it looks like the swivel is at the elbow instead of the bicep. Hips are way better looking but probably more restricted. Neck is probably just a single balljoint, idk what Ryu has. The only thing we can't tell from any of the pictures is what kind of articulation he has in his torso. But even there it's pretty easy to tell that whatever it is won't have very much clearance.
So basically he will have notably worse range than Ryu in his torso, elbows, and hips.
>you can blow off one of its giant cannon arms, pick it up, and start using it yourself!
I did make it that far, but no further. Like I said, I was renting it, friend.
When I went back for it I could only find death of superman, revenge of shinobi(baller as fuck), but not robocop vrs terminator.
Needless to say, I'm glad NECA will be making these, regardless of the exclusive status.
Ooooooohh fuck! How many years has it been since they showed a prototype and then seemed to cancel it? That looks cool as fuck, so I hope he stays good. This was also my favorite outfit of his.
I'm a little worried because I bought Pyro and Demoman when they came out though...Is this supposed to be a higher quality and more expensive figure? I'm not used to buying western toys and those things were shit with the joints being painted and chipping from in the box.
The TF2 figures are designed somewhat differently and are considerably worse than most NECA figures. NECA has iffy QC in general, but most of their figures are not nearly that shit. Dante looks to be designed a lot more like the recent human figures from the Aliens and Predator lines or the recent Assassin's Creed figures. And those figures are not more expensive, but they are higher quality cause they're just much better designed.
Thanks for giving my mind a little ease. I'll keep an eye on this and give NECA another chance. At least it's not going to be really expensive, so I won't feel too bad if it doesn't look great.
