Awakened Unicorn Girl
>>
>>4372864
While AGP Unicorn girl was great, I guess I should have seen this coming.
I found her a tad too fiddly (her rear skirting / plauds keeps falling off), and the armed armored shield thingy closes way too easily if you so much as breathed on it.

Other than that, she's a great figure though, which makes me kinda wanna get this as well

WHY.

Also, who is between the Psycho Gundam and Big Zam in that pic?
>>
>>4373025
Dendrobium.

Neo zeong. How big will it be?
>>
>>4372758
If I am not misjudging the size of AK compared to RG model kits, an AK is about 2/3 the size of a RG. The HGUC Neo Zeong is 86cm tall, and if we use that math, the AK Neo Zeong will be about 58cm tall, or 23" tall.

Almost two feet tall.
>>
>>4373033
I see that, but there's something else that looks like another Zeon MS between them, and in front of the Dendrobium. Or am I just not putting all of the pieces of the Dendrobium together right in my head?
>>
>>4373042
NM, it was part of the Big Zam, I looked at it from a different angle.
>>
>>4373035
Yep. And for reference, AK are all non-scale and are all about 2.5 inches tall. Fun little guys, but part of the appeal is that they're so small and cheap. Makes me wonder how such a large and expensive one will sell.
>>
>>4373282

I love the suit, and I'm happy it's getting what looks like a rerelease with metal armor parts. I like the idea of this actually if this is what the metal damsahii will be. Select metal parts, plastic armor mixed in as well.

Still doesn't make me feel any better about blue destiny. I'm gonna go cry with the Master Asia and full vernian gundam crowd.
>>
>>4373287
Huh. That's quite a bit smaller than I figured.
>>
>>4373397
>tfw just recently acquired a 2nd hand Hi-Nu RD.
Dammnit, Bandai!
At least I got it at a pretty price.
>>
>>4373449
You could always resell it at cost, I wish I'd gotten it instead of my sazabi.
>>
>>4373450
well, I got the sazabi recently too, since it was on sale at HLJ. He's pretty alright, not sure what's the beef people have with him.

Also, I threw the box away because I have too many fucking toys, so I guess I'll just keep him. Maybe usehim as canon fodder or some kit bashing
>>
>>4373397

Ahahaha Hi-Nu is cool but I knew it was going to be something boring that we already have.
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>4372758
Out of the three Big Zam definitely deserves a toy the most, he only has the SD kit
>>
>>4373695
Come to think of it, the former MSiA version will still be bigger than a potential Assault Kingdom one.
>>
>>4373561
Hi-Nu was an appropriate choice for a Metal rehash given that it is one of the few popular existing protagonist designs that doesn't have any complementary figure releases from its source material, hence making it a stand alone release. I couldn't think of any other designs like this though.

If they were to release Unicorn or Strike Gundam, then they won't have to rerelease all of their mold variations and complementary characters.

Though, I have a feeling that the next one might be something from 00 even though they have Metal Builds.
>>
>>4372731
>Gundam Mk-II, AEUG ver. (Dec. 2014)
FUCK. YES.

best gundam.
>>
>>4373714
I meant it would be odd to release a Metal version of the main character without their supporting characters, but then that is happening with RG's which are meant to complement HGUC releases.

We should probably get something from Code Geass or Full Metal Panic next. Metal Albion and Guren Seiten would be nice since the vanilla versions flopped crazy despite being newer moulds.

Whoa, nice scoop anon. Pretty happy with the RD though, so no real burning desire to jump on this. Will have to wait and see.

Any bets on what the price will be? The Hi-Nu was already one of the pricer RDs, I'm going to guess the Metal RD will be in the 8000Y range.

>>4373751
If you're in the US, Bluefin distributes RDs domestically so stores such as Amazon and BBTS are good sources. If you prefer/need to import, then yes the usual suspects (HLJ, AmiAmi, Hobby Search) are all good places to buy.

>>4373788
Crap I hope it doesn't. I've been saving up for a Hi Nu Damashii for a while now. So a re-release with metal parts is just amazingly well timed for me. If it gets in the 8000Y range than it'll hurt my wallet more than when the Nu Gundam and Sinanju arrived. Albeit being great figures, the price after taxes and service costs (€54 each)was just a little to much.
for those who care, I posted here a couple of times reffering to myself as Euro/m/an. Hence the Tax/import/service cost talk
Similar story here. I really like the Hi-Nu, but I held off on buying it. This Metal RD is tempting, but I wish they would've changed it up a bit, like following the original design with the blue replaced with a more purple-blue shade, and having the gradient strips on the fin funnels.

Also, Blue Destiny when?
please don't end up like GP-01
Well there's two big hobby shows going on this weekend where RDs have a prominent presence; Tamashii Features in Taiwan and Chara Hobby in Japan. So I'm just hoping they'll show something new on Sunday, or that maybe the Blue Destiny is already being shown and simply hasn't been photographed yet (unlikely).

And I think they were shooting for a Spring 2015 release for The Origin. Really excited to see how it turns out, since they're releasing it in theaters Unicorn style the budget (and thus the art/animation) should be pretty darn good.

Unicorn articulation was awful for the HGs, as well as the Kshatriya- and I have no doubt about the Kshatriya repaired.

Some units haven't even received updated model kits or model kits at all.

The EWAC Nero, Nero, Geymalk, Crossbone x2/x3 (not in MG scale), Virsago, Geminass, most of the F91 line, Full Armor ZZ.

I own I and II, III was a bit too bland. I was thinking of getting it again to customize it, butm uch later down the road.

I is better articulated, but II is the best. It has limited head movement unless you mod it though, unlike I.

So I is the best from a objective point of view, better aticulation, more waepons, extra head, more posing options overall.

II will cost you and arm though.

The RD line is pretty solid across the board. I can't really think of any that are flat out bad in terms of quality, though certainly you'll have things about certain figures that could be better. Just post what yer interested in and someone will be able to give you some thoughts.

The RDs in your list are all pretty good figures (or, in the case of Zeta, will hopefully be a good figure, haha). The Sniper II can't get into the best rifle-to-the-shoulder sniping poses due to the awkward shape of his rifle (sweet neutral/at-the-ready poses though), but the figure itself has very good poseability and a great sculpt. The Gouf Custom has some bits that can pop off while handling it (the shoulder armor I think it was? can be easily popped back on) but it comes with two sets of gatling shields and excellent poseability. In regards to the Zaku II, only complaint I've ever really heard is that the sculpt is done in an animated style, which is simply a personal taste thing.

Accessories between the Zaku and Gouf can be interchanged and they share a common hardpoint system to allow mounting of weapons onto the MS itself. They make a good pair! Get the Magella Tank and you combine its parts with the Zaku as well, even creating a Zaku Tank!

So, this is my first time posting in an RD thread, I normally stick to G/P generals. But I thought this would be a better place to ask this than /m/.

What do you guys think about the RD Kshatriya? I've wanted a Kshatriya for a long time, but have put off getting one because I build mostly in MG scale and I don't trust my skills at this point enough to go for one of the 1/100 resin kits.

So I've finally decided to settle for a 1/144 Kshatriya. What I haven't decided yet is if I should get the HGUC or the significantly more expensive RD. It seems to me that the RD has slightly better proportions, and of course the funnel display arms are a huge selling point. I also like the fact that the RD wing binders can open from the top, while the HGUC cannot. (I don't recall the Kshatriya ever actually doing this in the OVA). An included stand is also a huge plus.

But from a standpoint of detail, articulation and stability, do you guys think that a price tag of 120+ US is worth it for this suit, when I could pay half that for the gunpla?
>>
>>4383427
If you intend to mess around with it more, I suggest getting the damashii. I wasn't aware that it was 120$ though, I thought it was 80-100 at most.

There's also nothing stopping you from painting it up and modifying it once you get it. I remeber when the Byarlent came out, we had a guy buy one because it had no model counterpart. So he used the waterslides, replaced the boosters with scratch built ones, and flat coated the whole thing. Looks baller as fuck. Might actually do that to turn a MKII into a titain's mk II.
>>
>>4383438
Amazon has it for 130 free shipping. Cheapest I have found it online was at hlj and they are backordered. An anime shop at a mall near me has one for 140, or at least they did 2 weeks ago.

Regardless of which I end up getting, I still plan on doing some detail work with my real-touch markers and ordering a set of Kshatriya waterslides off of ebay.

I have enough saved up to get either kit or toy, and i'm hoping to run across one or the other at Dragoncon this weekend. But if I don't I'll end up ordering one online next week.
>>
>>4383452
You should check mandarake. If I ever get constantly good at painting, I'm going to modify my tallgeese ii even more.

Really happy with mine. For me, fixed the colors and shoulder execution that did leave me a bit dissapointed with the HGUC. Now considering the Repaired since I might be able to use a apparently busted figure of regular Kshatriya for cheap to make a more 'complete' look on Repaired.

>Build mostly in MG scale and I don't trust my skills at this point enough to go for one of the 1/100 resin kits.
This might make deciding a bit more frustrating, but while there won't be anything of an inner frame to it; there's still the chance of a 1/100 Kshatriya through Bandai's new RE/100 line eventually.

>I also like the fact that the RD wing binders can open from the top, while the HGUC cannot. (I don't recall the Kshatriya ever actually doing this in the OVA).
Tried skim though the OVAs and could see a bit showing that either, I just assumed it was a feature to allow it to deploy the funnels while in 'Bell Pepper' defense mode.

Still, wait until Acer Anon sees this post and they'll just unload on why you'll enjoy RD Kshatriya way better than I could.

>Owning less than four Phenexs
Are you even an RD collector?? I've got five more on the way myself!

Haha, nah, I think you're in great shape with two!

>>4383427
The RD Kshatriya is the RD I've wished for since I began collecting 4 years ago (Stark Jegan was my first RD). Once I finally got it in hand, it did NOT disappoint. When something can live up to 4 years of expectations, that's a pretty good sign, haha.

The 120 price tag is steep, but you are getting your money's worth. Detail is superb, from the yellow tubing running throughout the suit to the complex leg design and the iconic binders, everything looks excellent. Every funnel can be removed, but each funnel plugs securely in place so nothing is dropping off the RD while you handle it. Same goes for the effect parts (which also look great, with a variety of funnel thruster effects and display arms), everything is solid once attached. They even include a part to hide the stand connection point if you opt not to use the stand. It's just a great feat by Bandai to pull off a mass produced Kshatriya toy that looks so good out of the box. Only assembly required is plugging the binders into the shoulders.

Articulation is great with excellent range of motion at each point (even the neck joint has enough range to allow the Kshatriya to look nearly straight up!) and it's assisted by joints that are nice and tight across the board. The binders have several articulation points themselves that allow you to pose them however you want, and they're supported by strong ratcheting joints. When you put the RD into a pose, it will hold it firmly.

con't

In terms of negatives, the only thing I really have to gripe about is the stand. Don't get me wrong, the stand looks excellent with gorgeous black gloss finish (dust magnet though!) and gold embossed lettering, and it does a great job of holding up the Kshatriya. Its failing is that holding up the Kshatriya is really the limit of what it can do. The stand plugs into the RD via a peg that fits loosely into a connection point on the RD. It doesn't lock into place at this connection point, the RD just rests on this peg, so it's impossible to use the stand to pose the Kshatriya flying upside down or something. The arm of the stand is strong and every moving section has a lock to hold the arm securely in place, but you can't get too fancy with your posing and you kind of need to angle the connecting peg slightly upwards so the RD doesn't slide off. On the upside it makes it easy to put the RD on and off the stand, and the small connection point is unobtrusive and easily hidden with the included cover, but a more secure attachment would have been nice.

Overall, you are getting a lot of detailed, well executed mobile suit for your money. Sprue marks are nearly non-existent, accessory count is expansive, and articulation is better than you could imagine for such a bulky suit. The only downside is a stand that is simply functional, which only stands out due to how superb everything else is.

The RD is pricey, but definitely recommended!

>>4383849
Haha, you've really got my number Canada anon, but I think you made some great points as well (and that is a badass photo!). The green of the HGUC (unpainted) certainly looks rather off. Surprised to hear you're only considering the Repaired though! Man, you used to be cool... haha.

Oh, and for reference, here is the HGUC (left) with the RD. Since you mentioned scale specifically, it's important to note that the RD is not a true 1/144 scale figure (with some exceptions, the RD line is non-scale), but as you can see it's remarkably close. Heck, any size difference could be chalked up to simple differences in style/proportions.

Mandy actually tends to sell the Kshatriya for over retail(!) or very close to retail. The RD must have sold quite well, which is great!

But it's not simply a mere peg-leg, i can also be a beam-gatling leg!

Haha, nah, I can understand why you'd be reluctant to get the Repaired. It's one pricey, space-hogging RD for sure, and it can be a bit superfluous if you've already got Kshatriya. If I weren't such a Marida nut I probably would have hesitated a bit before ordering. I gotta say though, I'm really excited for it, love that you can convert it to either the Besserung or the Repaired, and there are aspects of each design that I really dig (the exposed cockpit block, the funnel missiles, beam javelin arm etc.).

Do you have the instructions insert? There is a roundabout way you can get spare parts from Bandai, but you will need a middle-man to do it.

My Byarlant Custom was missing a piece on a part, Yokatta (the middle man I ordered through) had me send the part with the missing piece and the insert (which doubles as a proof of purchase, apparently) to them, and they were able to send it to Bandai and get a replacement part. They only charged me to ship the part to me (which was only a few dollars).

Now, I had ordered through them so that may be why they were able to help me, but if you ask them and offer to pay for their troubles they may be able to help you out. Or if you have a friend in Japan who can help, you could try asking them to do the same thing.

Stop, it's a new troll tactic.
They use the rules to troll, if there is something in the pciture, minor, or major, the call rule 2. Or the MLP rule, which isn't used as much.

Essentially, it can be something you might not even notice, like a pony in the bottom right corner, in the background blurred out. Or it could be a toy/statue combination picture where it's a nice photo/has a statue in the haul. He comes in and trolls with the rules. That's really unusual, as the only complaints I've ever heard regarding Eva joints were that they were too tight, heh. Especially strange that it would happen overnight like that.

You're referring to the joint that my Eva is gesturing towards in my pic, right? As you said, it's simply a ball joint (to be precise, it's a dumbell piece that connects the upper/lower torso via ball joints) and those are quite easy to tighten. If the joint has become as loose as you say, it should be very easy to simply pull the joint apart. Then, you just use something to thicken the ball (I like to cut small squares of scotch tape) and then plug everything back together.

When tightening a ball joint, I usually start with a double layer of scotch tape and then add layers if I need the joint to be tighter.

Some folks aren't fans of the shape/size of them.

Yup, that would be it. I was able to stabalize it a bit by sliding the actual armor piece down but it really didn't solve the problem and just looks weird. I'll try the scotch tape though and hopefully that will work, thanks. I've only had it for about three days now and I was pretty disappointed that it changed so quickly like that.
