[shilling intensifies]
>>4284681
I don't follow. elaborate please?
>>4284683
Don't look at me. I voted for the 10x10 minifig scene.
>>4284668
>30-40 piece polygamy
Example please? I'm sure I can think of one I'd be interested in
>>4284683
Put together a set using your collection that could theoretically be packaged and sold as a polybag impulse buy.
So I saw four of those Chima Gorilla Striker sets on clearance at Target today for $25 each, but passed on them. How badly did I fuck up? On one hand, I don't give a shit about Chima, but on the other hand, all of those parts and that bigass gorilla mecha.
>>4284707
Hmm.. ok. Should be wasting.
>>4284712
>wasting
Stupid freaking kindle
Coincidentally, I found this guy at target today.
>>4284714
Autocorrext is a bitxh, especially when your phone learns from your typing.
>>4284716
To elaborate, it was a polybag set.
Anyways, does this count for the thread challenge? I MOC'd it from an existing polybag.
>>4284668
37 pieces, 5 points of articulation. Made it from the Power Digger.
>>4284719
Yup
>>4284731
hug bot.
An idea for a browser plugin:
When on bricklink while browsing a store it will display the average price of an item next to the vendor's price.
Would really help to quickly gauge what is worth buying without going back and forth to the catalog to look at lists of this shit.
Anyone have the pic of the "impossible" build that puts a technic axle in a place where it can't be removed?
>>4284705
Kind of fucked up if you're interested in the pieces. Even at MSRP its a good price, and you can sell of the minifigs you don't to make back most if not all of what you spend. My advice would just be to check back tomorrow, my local Target has them reduced and they're still not moving.
>>4284726
Yes.
>>4284772
This is a fantastic idea actually. I'm surprised there isn't a full plugin pack for Bricklink, actually. There's a lot of info that could be worked in to each page.
>>4284803
I don't, but as someone will inevitably point out when it is posted: it's not an impossible build. Using a knife or pin, you can make contact with the red axle through the slot to push it out.
>tfw we'll have new Bionicle, Star Wars, and Half Life 3 in 2015
http://www.neoape.com/rumored-lego-bionicle-2015-sets/
>>4284803
Probably not what you're talking about but I did that once when I was a kid. I took a 1st-gen Toa torso, then stuck one of those axle connectors with a hole in the middle in the top and held it in with 2 2-long axles. I still have it lying around.
>>4284876
You monster.
>>4284881
I can't remember what I was trying to do there, maybe just seeing if it would work. I was like 7 when I did it. I am also have way too few tires because I would chew on them until they started coming apart. Otherwise I don't think I broke anything.
>>4284871

Holy fuck can't you people calm the fuck down until it's officially confirmed? It's like you enjoy being set up for disappointment or something.
>>4284891
>It's like you enjoy being set up for disappointment or something.
Well, he is a Bionicle fan...
>>4284894
I am as well, I'm just baffles me how people can be so damn hype over a dodgy looking picture and titles that could take anyone 5 seconds to think up.
>>4284891
>>4284894
>>4284896
I'm actually not that much of a Bionicle fan. Hell, I didn't even know Gali was a girl until this year. I just have way too much faith in leaked set lists, since I've never seen a false one. Add to that TLG requesting the leaked display to be taken down, and tada! I'm convinced enough to make a piss bet for the sake of entertaining my fellow anons and prepping my palate for the post-apocalyptic wastes.
Conversely, I don't understand how you're so pissed off that someone believes in something that you don't.
Now, Half Life 3, I'm surprised you didn't jump on that one as being farfetched.
Rumors are fun to talk about. So let's do it some more - what's rumored to be coming out?
-New Bionicle line
-Bunch of new boring City Police shit(j/k, they're okay)
-Detective Agency modular(no idea how solid this rumor is, sounds too good to be true)
-minifig-scale Minecraft(or does this count as confirmed?)
I want to know what LEGO's next space-theme will be.
>>4284899
>Now, Half Life 3, I'm surprised you didn't jump on that one as being farfetched.
That's because no one cares about half life 3.
>>4284903
>Rumors are fun to talk about.

>>4284904
I care.
>>4284906
>My bad I didn't realize we were gossipy 12 year old girls.
We're on 4chan, that'd be a step up.
>>4284907
Even if this game were to ever come out I very much doubt it will be able to live up to the standard that has been produced by 7 (or however many) years of non-stop hype.
>>4284912
HL2 came out 7 years after HL1 and look what happened
>>4284876
>>4284913
Yeah you're probably right but I really don't care enough about these games to continue this conversation, as well as the fact it's not relevant on this board.
>TFW it would cost you at least 40 dollars to make a custom kill bill technic fig.
>>4284876
You can actually shift that assembly to one side and shimmy a knife in the resulting gap. Catch on the axle with it and push it out a smidge. Then pull out the knife and repeat until the axle is out far enough to grab. Repeat on the other side and you're golden.
>>4284903
>I want to know what LEGO's next space-theme will be
This. I just hope its not humans vs aliens four the umpteenth time. I know it's almost guaranteed to be, but I can dream.
>>4284922
>kill bill
Beatrix, but you know what I mean.
I'm watching some Brick Show vids, and fuck, Jang really is the GOAT.
The Arctic Helicrane is marked down to 20 Euros in a sale, should I bite? If I buy the small snowmobile set as well, I get a Hungry Hippos travel game for free.
Lego delivery came today! Got this and SSPD, for $40, this set is awesome, easily the most detailed and best mini figure villain I've seen to date, I can't wait to build the SSPD with my GF tomorrow!
>>4284944
>SSPD for $40
Was this a no minifigs auction or VIP points purchase?
>>4284941
I'd go for it, if only because a reduced price is the only way you'll get close to a fair price on any Arctic set. While the review probably mentioned it, those oranges are all going to be slightly different shades, if that's something that will deter you.
>>4284668
>>4284681
>mfw I just got it
>>4284971
OH GOD FUCKING DAMNIT! See, this is why I don't do this shit.
>>4284803
>>4284953
>reduced price is the only way to a fair price on any Arctic set
Explain further.
>>4284803
>>4285010
Going by US MSRP, all of the Arctic sets are over 10¢ a piece, meaning they're all priced similar to licensed sets. I don't know how well this converts to other countries, with the already inflated prices on most sets however.
>>4285016
Also not impossible. If they could be gotten in via stressing the tubes, they can be gotten out the same way.
>>4284668
Awesome of you to include and update copypasta, OP. Although I recommend posting the Latest News too, in the second post.

It's confirmed.
http://www.lego.com/en-us/minecraft
>>4285022
>priced similar to licensed sets
Licensed sets don't actually cost more than regular sets, usually they're close to or less in cost than the non-licensed sets of the same price point.
Of course, that's price-per-piece. If we're going by price-per-weight, although it might not really differ all that much, you'll see that the Arctic sets are priced rather fairly, since they use large-ish pieces like the boat hull, or the plane nose.
Of course, there are exceptions such as the Marvel X-Jet, but I think hulls were used there too.
>>4285060
Thank you. I'll compare the pics with my folder, but it's nice to see I wasn't the only one who saved some Power Digger glory.
>>4285064
How does it feel to know that you will never be a master builder?
Is there a place anyone can donate legos to people who need them? I want to start building neat stuff, but I am poor and don't have enough lego bricks to do anything at the moment...I was hoping to find a place where older builders can pass on their bricks to 'newer' generations.
>>4285220
No, because Lego parts are not a "need" if you are poor. Food, clothing, shelter, medicine, those are needs. Toys are not a need.
>>4285220
Buy a pound on eBay.
>>4284941
Yeah, Jang is awesome. Fuck Brick Show.
Built this for the thread challenge, a little M-Tron styled robotic helper. 35 pieces.
>>4285067
Is that seriously the pickaxe we're getting?
What a piece of shit.
>>4285297
Ironically I don't have anything M-Tron related so here's a blacktron2 minifig for scale.

>>4285070
20 Pop would round out to about 7.6 cents per piece, that should've been the regular price from the start.
>>4285466
I hope those double injection minifig parts are appearing more often in regular sets and not just the CMFs and china produced figs.
I hoped for something more usefull or someone from my wishlist but oh well, I can get the game in a year or two for a twenty anyway.
>>4285058
reposting mine
>>4284803
heck yea! more decool stuff came in! im really digging them!does any one know if its safe to take their arms out? would it be done the same way as normal figs? i tryed earlier but it was stuggling and i didn wanna pull too hard. and would a real lego arm fit in the socket good? i wanna give winter soldier his robot arm rather than flesh
>>4284668
My take on a Polybag Mini Cooper set, this one can hold a minifigure too.
Piece count: 39
My first attempt at building a robot-thing. Looking for constructive criticism. I know some of the pieces are the wrong color.

>>4285611

>>4285466
dang, missed chance to finally get some flesh legs. i still want him though
Trying to decide between the Turtle Lair Attack and the Joker's steamroller. Hmmm. The latter doesn't seem to have too much appeal beyond the figs.
>>4285721
i find that all superhero sets are pretty boring beyond the minifigs
>>4285727
I agree with you with the exceptions of the X-Jet and Lex Luthor's mech; both are great. Almost all of the others, not so much.
>>4285727
A lot of them feel like "well, we have to put SOMETHING into those sets" and so we get stuff like Trevor's bumper car, Killian's speedboat, Deadpool's heli, the Hydra Tank and so on.
And yet on the other hand obvious stuff like the Fantasticar or a Ghost Rider on his bike gets ignored.
Guys what are some good polybags to buy?
>>4285636
just give him patrick star's legs
>>4285607
I've taken plenty of their arms out and swapped them around. Have not had any problems. Just use caution.
Even if you do break something, it's like they're pricey.
A regular lego arm will probably be fine, but there's a possibility it'll be a little too loose or a little too tight. The connections are slightly different. but it should work.
>>4285607
in FACT I know for sure I used a grey arm from a regular lego fig for my winter soldier and didn't have any problems.
Anyone know if there's gonna be a new Ultra Agents release? I'm new to the hobby but from what I've seen of monster hunters and galaxy squad they tend to have like, two good-sized releases.
I want more villains.

>>4285542
Saved. Thanks anon!
>>4285510
Plas' legs are just black with printed red, though. I don't think they can produce double injection regular legs yet.
However, it's entirely possible to start seeing more of the new short legs and arms in regular sets, since they first appeared in S@H set Simpsons House rather than the CMF series.
>>4286349

>>4285633
Thank you anon! I don't think I had one of those. The scientist's desk is awesome as always.

I've been searching for some for awhile now but still haven't found any. I know a few threads back there was an anon that dumped a breakdown of a build that he had copied. You might try scouring the archives for that or they might be lurking and be able to repost. Aside from that, if you do find anything please share. I'm in a similar state of having recently reacquired my preteen mother lode of Bionicle with absolutely no idea how to make complex bodies.
Also, somewhat unrelated, but do you have a flickr I could follow?

That is obviously an Owens.

This guy reporting in again.
About to purchase, should I take out some of each and throw in different 3 in 1's or what?
So why did LEGO stop using printed pieces and now almost always use stickers instead?
Shouldn't LEGO care about quality first? I mean, no matter how good those stickers are they WILL peel soon or later.
If I used white poster-tack to support minifigures in poses, would that damage the plastic?
>>4287390
Last set I bought had printed pieces. Haven't bought one since.
>>4287390
Kids like stickers? I dunno, it's probably just cheaper.
>>4287390
I think they are cheaper. Some people say they like stickers because this way they have the option to apply them to other pieces or use the pieces without them.
I like printed pieces and never apply stickers to my sets.
>>4287390
Two reasons. First off, the cost. Stickers are much cheaper, and last long enough (multiple years at least if you don't toss the stickered parts in a parts bin). Second, the non-permanence. Stickered parts are more useful for those buying sets with the intent of building other things - you don't have to apply the stickers, and they can be removed. Think of, say, the Chima stuff - those sets are great parts packs, but wouldn't be if all those gimmicky stickers were printed parts.
I just found this guy in a box in my closet, I don't remember buying it so it must have been a gift a long time ago. Now that I look at him he's pretty great.

First, buy enough baseplates and/or road plates to cover your build area.
Note that you don't necessarily have to use road plates, as there are plenty of other options. (Tiles, SNOT'd bricks, et cetera).

Please explain how you did the nose
I'll keep our little journey condensed for our 56k warning pals and those who aren't interested in a massive image consuming tale of awesome team work.
In keeping with the thread challenge of the week, we welcomed a new addition to the desk-access pile, a polybag that appealed to the current... aesthetic?
Is there a site that has a bunch of pics of alternate builds for specific sets? Whether they're MOCs or the pics on the back of the box, I'd be interested, especially if they come with instructions.
It was mostly, however, because Bob really wanted a hat. I mean, he wants a chevron vest, too, but one out of two ain't bad.
Problem is, the hats these days are made by a different factory and you can feel a difference in the minifig plastic (if you can't already see a difference in the color.)
Anyway, there was this guy who looked like Gordon Freeman, who looked like he was going to be taking over.
>>4287325
Solomon Grundy want Lego too.
>>4286742
So I stumbled across pic related while looking around google images and that lead me to this site http://custombionicle.wikia.com/wiki/Custom_BIONICLE_Wiki It has an assload of custom bionicle mocs, ocs and other crap. I'm sure if you dig deep enough you'll find something useful.
>>4287799
Of course, we had the option of starting out with the instructions like a good construction worker would... But, not only is that not the point of the challenge, but the weird-scale cherry picker-ish build they have here wasn't all that appealing in the first place.
>>4287801
My bad guys didnt realize the file was so big. here have a scaled down version.
>>4287804
No, to get the job done, we obviously needed the help of a robot.
Of course, there's not a whole lot to work with here, so I'm really looking forward to seeing what I can do by combining with the Power Digger. Maybe I can complete a decent forklift build this time.

Rebrickable.com seems like what you're looking for. It's all MOCs. You can enter in what sets you have, and it will tell you what MOCs you can build. Some MOCs are just rebuilds of a complete set, some MOCs use multiple sets, and some are just random collections of pieces.
Amazon has the police and fire stations about 25-30% off.

Looking at this is painful. Look at the quality of that packaging. The clear explanation that you can use regular Lego bricks with Duplo bricks. All the pictures of alternate build possibilities.
I'd be more inclined as a parent to purchase a Lego set for my child if they still did packaging like that today. I get that market tastes change, but still. It was so inspiring! I wish Lego hadn't quit doing it. I don't think ideas being on the internet is a good enough excuse to not show at least one alt build on the packaging. They used to do that shit for little 20 piece sets, even.

Duty calls, and so ends a long day of idle building.
I decided to go for the forklift, again, however difficult as its been to build a functioning lift with the available parts.
Included is the Power Digger, Zaptor and the 1970's Street Sweeper cart. My design is following something similar to another MOC based on the forklift from Halo Reach.
I like using the hinges on the side, of course, because that allows me to create a functional build, but I wish I could make the armature a bit longer, and I need to reconstruct the fork dramatically.
And bootleggers continue to bring us characters Lego won't...
Went to Target. Gorzan's Gorilla Striker for 35, plus they had a whole box of series 9 CMFs! Other Chima stuff was on clearance too.
Is 6860 The Batcave a good set? Tomorrow, I'm either going to get that, the X-Jet, or Joker's Steamroller. I can't decide. Help??
Only Lego I ever stole was a Riddler minifig with a sack filled with Lego bricks.
Granted I found his box torn open with 2/3 bags split open.
I want a new Star Wars Lego set or two. Have about $20 to spend. Thinking of getting the TIE Interceptor micro-fighter, and the Kashyyyk Troopers set. I'm also eye-ing the Millennium Falcon micro-fighter (I don't have a new Han Solo figure yet either).
I already got the other 2014 trooper packs, the Turbo Tank microfighter, and the Grievous set.
Also I should mention the Dooku & Yoda set is underrated. I love the new Yoda figure! It looks like Yoda from the Original Trilogy (has that puppet look).

Guys, I'm thinking of getting myself a set.
Was thinking about grabbing a bunch of smaller sets from Super Heroes line, OR "The Unexpected Gathering" from The Hobbit.
What would be the better choice?
>>4288830
That depends on a few things.
If you're looking for the better build to keep assembled, Unexpected Gathering (imo).
If you're looking to add a wide variety of parts and colors to your bin, SH sets.
If you're just looking to get minifigs, it's all personal preference.
>>4288846

The Hulks are pretty bloody great, plastic quality is on a level with LEGO, sturdy, rich, the only points I would bring up are the inconveniently placed injection spots and the spray job on the shorts in a bit hit-and-miss. The face decals are really well done.
The Fantastic Four are a bit of a letdown, the molding and printing isn't the best, perfectly acceptable, the legs have different connectors than official LEGO, the torso angles are sharper, hair casts are softer than the official counterparts. molding at this smaller level might just be a tad too small for chinaman.
The Things are just as amazing as the the Hulks, nice tight joints, the detailing is top notch, the face decals are a bit inconsistent, but that's pot luck really. The injection points are hidden amongst the rocks. As LEGO currently has no plans for Thing, pick this up!
The whole lot cost me just over 7 quid with free shipping from china on ebay from 'buyhereagain2012', which is a no brainer really. The bigfigs are ace, and although the minifigs aren't as great, they're so cheap that you could pick up an entire set for the price of one blindbag minifig. Its worth the gamble.

Weird, according to this dutycalculator you should have paid 14 Pound in VAT.
Did they just not control your package out of dumb luck? I would like to get their Captain America collection to Germany but these horror stories about paying 30% on top, having to drive to some office to get it there and maybe getting a criminal complaint when the stuff is counterfeit sound so scary, do you know about this by chance or did you just order without thinking about it?
>>4289094
£14 VAT would be 200%, that doesn't sound right
Didn't really think about it, assumed the order was so light and small it would slip through like the many times before, and if it didn't ,the vat on it would so small I have no qualms paying on it.
