God damn it, this would have been so much better with cut joints. Who are they making all these rubber suit figures for? Does anyone prefer it over a more classic joint setup? Even if it never becomes cracked and ruined, it never ends up looking nicer. Doomguy's arms look like bent garden hoses in all the pics in which he is holding guns or his chainsaw.
>>6294535
>Who are they making all these rubber suit figures for?
People who fall into one of four categories:
1. People who can't stand the sight of visible joints and feel all figures that have them are inferior. Doesn't matter if the rubber bends in unnatural ways or not since they are unlikely to ever actually pose the figure and will probably just have it standing in a neutral pose where it DOES look better. Why they don't just buy statues is beyond me.
2. People who want to brag about their expensive 1/6 collection and who don't really care one way or the other how the joints are handled. Also extremely unlikely to ever pose the figure and will just have them inside a glass case untouched for years.
3. People who get caught up in the concept of concealing joints without actually thinking through whether it's a good idea or not. Probably new to collecting and ignorant to the issues rubber causes both visually and durability wise.
4. People who will buy anything Ashley Wood shits out of his company because they are too heavily invested in it to quit now (see: sunken cost fallacy) or just love the guy too much to admit he makes dumb decisions.
>>6294559
Aside from the handful of diehard 'Legion' shiteaters who think it's their duty to buy everything to show 'support', most people who are/were into ThreeA don't seem to care about the licensed stuff much. At this point most people have moved on and given up hope of Ash ever doing anything original or interesting again when he can just sit back and collect on licensed garbage.
>>6294575
This, despite the rapidly declining community ThreeA is a bigger company than ever. They've just moved on from catering to the indie designer toy crowd and instead focussed on rich asian collectors with more money than taste. They still put out the occasional release like pic related to appease their longtime fans but for the most part they're a completely different company now, the designer/high end toy landscape has changed a lot since the Marvel Cinematic Universe popularised nerdy stuff.
Just finished ""that"" game with him as one of the antagonist. Pretty sick.
Is there any articulated toy, whether it's 1/12th or 1/6th that looks regal enough to be a representation of YHWH?
If you don't mind his recent look, there's always plane heads (artists use them).
They're not cheap unfortunately. Also have a neck.
>>6294212
It doesn't have to be floating yellow head in space, SMT style.
Anything that looks menacing with regal armor, etc would also do.
>>6294222
I've never played I/II so I don't know if YHVH is anything but a floating punchable yellow head.
But yeah, stuff artists use for reference, or just fucking rip some bald guy figure's head off and repaint it. Destro from GI Joe comes to mind, but I'm not a GI Joefag to know if they even come in scales that aren't tiny.
What do you think about companies who release a bad/half assed product only to re-release it a few years later with major improvements such as better paint, sculpt, articulation and accessories?
Does this put you off buying figures from them in the future?
Mafex is a pretty bad offender when it comes to this sort of thing.
see: Batman, Spiderman and now Catwoman.
Hasbro also just gave a huge 'fuck you' to everyone who bought their original 6" black series Vader by releasing the 40th anniversary legacy pack.
Then don't buy it. Wow, that was difficult.
This shit happens all the time. You just suck it up and
>keep your orignal figure
>sell your original figure out of frustration and quit the line
>buy the new figure and have both
>buy the new figure and sell the original
depending on how you feel. I see it as a good thing because now there's a better figure for the character someone might like. If you already liked the figure this one doesn't take away from it. A lot of people that are just getting into SAS hate the old part 3 sculpts. If they remake them all, those people can have figures they actually like and the people that already liked them can have both. The only way people really lose is if they suddenly have to sell the now-obsolete figure for way less than the price they paid, but that's not really that much of a downside.
I bought a car once.
The next year they made a better one.
Fuck me indeed
What would you give your kids, /toy/?
>>6291486
My neice is 6 and I bought her a beast box.
>>6257609
I also bought her some folding chairs from Ringside Wrestling for her dolls and made her some furniture out of stirs sticks/Popsicle sticks/dowels.
Most japanese figures have to many fiddly parts to be good for kids. I showed her Nendoroids but she thinks the big heads are odd.
I find dexterity board games are a big hit like Loopin' Larry or Jenga. As well as remote control shit. I have a really nice rc car where you can modify the output speed so you can make it have a really slow max speed for kiddies.
Power tools aren't really toys, but they're good teaching tools. If you give kids a drill with a super huge bit they're unlikely to break it and hurt themselves and it's fun as fudge.
>>6291486
I will give them most of my old toys except for my LEGO.
Fisher Price knights and pirates, tons of Playmobil, and then some diverse action figures from the 90s
>>6291486
Exclusively LEGO.

The S shape is always good advice though. The basic idea is that straight lines tend to look stiff.

HARU WHEN
Steven Universe toys announced
They look like really cheap Lego sets

Fuck.
I was trying to maintain a sense of cautious optimism about these things since the van looked pretty nice but these look worse than the Funko minis and some look worse than the Original minis.
Peridot got the worst of it which is awful for me because she is my favorite.
And with the show in it's rapid downward spiral these may be the only articulated figures we ever get of these characters.
>>6287150
They should've put more effort into making them look like actual characters instead of Lego knockoffs. At least it isn't some big-headed chibi shit, but that isn't saying much.
>>6287150
>Meat Beat Mania
can't believe i missed that
Old bread >>6279807
Oh no! The old Leonidas had ASS joints. Stay away from this one until reviews, guys.
>>6287129
I thought they fixed them with the black repaint?
>>6287133
What did they mean by this?
Does Scooby-Doo have any cool action figure?

Well, my weekend haul was two fold. I got an S.H Arts Donnatello and a NECA dual set of Corp. Hicks and Prv. Hudson! I'll open the marines first...
I already have Vasquez and Frost, so my team doubled in one day. Sweet!!
>>6294343
try getting some taste instead
lol, I hate the screaming faces they have...I'm definitely swapping out both for their alternative heads...

I rarely come to this board but can I post my oc ship here and get a r8?
So:
Transformers The Last Knight
Lego Nexo Knights
Star Wars The Last Jedi(Rumoured to have a lot of knight elements)
Enlighten Brick Knight sets
What else is missing? King Arthur and the Legend of the Sword?
More toy lines?
It's a coincidence? Illuminatti?

Who else loves these guys? I have all but the 3 releases coming out in July.
Too small, wish they'd been scaled properly. Kamen rider is a bit better, but they're nicely poseable and detailed
I really like them, except for the legs on the Vegeta/Bardok body. The hips don't work as well as the other bodies and the way they handled the knee makes the legs look poorly-proportioned when you pose them. It's a shame, too, because I really like the Goku and Broly figures.
I like them, they are great little desk toys. However, I have a lot of issues with them.
To keep it short, my main issues are character selection, price, and scale (compared to similar lines like Shodo VS). I could let the latter two slide easily if the character selection wasn't the same old bull every DBZ line does.
I'd be much happier if they put at least 4 characters in a wave and made at least one B or C list character per wave.
Any cheap toys that are genuinely good or you just love them for some reason?
Pic related, this was a dollar general toy
You're gonna have to give us more info on that guy, it looks rad
Personaly I fell in love with the Gundam AGE GB series. Chunky, modular and reasonably articulated children toys, MSRP was kinda high but they shelfwarmed like crazy so technically they are cheap now
Weren't those guys part of the MARS line? I don't remember specifically I recall there being these figures that were all made of ball joints just like that guy
>>6288250
MARS Heroes. I had a bunch, really cool looking robots if nothing else.
What's the most awkward thing that's happened to you while buying toys in-store?
A kid started crying because I grabbed something a minute before he decided he wanted it, and then the parents gave me a "c'mon, really?" look.
Fuck that kid though
i haven't bought a toy at a store since i was a little kid. i buy stuff online too much anxiety from going to the store
>>6287855
I always get really awkward and just walk away if I can tell that a collector is in one of the toy aisles. The last thing I want to to do is interact with a manchild like myself. If I see someone, I'll walk around the store a few times before peaking my head around the corner to see if the person left.
I'm just awkward.
