According to this Weibo, TLK grossed 330 million yuan (48 million USD) on opening day (23 Jun) in China. Specifically, the 1st screenings on opening day (midnight shows) total 40 million yuan (6 million USD). Apparently, both broke records for films in the Transformers series.

By this point, I just see these movies as a (evil, if you want to call it that :D ) necessity keeping the Transformers brand alive and the revenue stream healthy for the toys we love going forward (Classics, Masterpiece, etc.). The live action movies may be hit or miss (I enjoyed the first movie and DOTM) but at least I can enjoy some of the designs and figures they offer even if the quality of the source material they're base on can be questionable.

That said, I haven't seen TLK yet but will sometime this weekend. I'm keeping my expectations low.

why are some people expecting some Golden Globe type movie? This is a supposed to be big screen Saturday Morning Cartoon. You're supposed to have fun and be amazed at spectacles. Bay even mentioned in previous interviews that the Transformers amusement park inspires him to keep doing the films for kids. If you want to watch some highbrow film go watch Moonlight or Million Dollar Baby.

A lot of it is lighting. Lighting will make a good camera crap and a bad camera passable. Lets see if I can show you the difference. Pic related is done with a Canon PowerShot ELPH 180, a relatively cheap point and shoot camera. It's alright. It's cheap, which is good for me, since I'm poor as fuck.

Anyone ever solder a motor braking circuit? Does the resistance in that circuit affect the strength of the brake?

The red one came in the same box as the clasic (#1) and they came in 2 complete series of 4, 1 special (red) and 2 random, so if you want the red one you need to check all the clasics in there, they are awesome articulated for such a small toy, ball joints and regular articulation, even waist swivel , they come with interchangeable hands and that extra effect or item

If you're looking for realism, definitely go with Bandai's ISS Spacesuit kit. It's great and even has lighting options I believe. This same mold was also used to make Mutta from the anime Space Brothers.

Here's some tips from the previous threads:

Beginners: practice on cheap figures first.

For sculpting on figures: use 2-part epoxy putty like Aves apoxie or fixit.

For tools: try a basic carving/sculpting set like the kind arts & crafts stores have, and calipers for symmetry.
Dental tools have also been said to work well.
Also, using a Dremel is recommended. Minimites (the small $20-25 ones) are fine for starting out, but the battery life is poor. Upgrade to a corded one only if you want to get deeper into customizing. They are useful for stuff outside of the hobby though, so it's a good investment regardless.

For paints: use acrylics. Paint in multiple, thin coats. Brands like Vallejo/P3/Citadel are recommended, because of pigment quality.

Use a sealer when finished to protect your work. There are matte varieties and sealers that give a glossy look. As with painting, use multiple thin coats.

A flex shaft attachment on a Dremel is a godsend and relatively inexpensive. The grinding shield is also pretty useful, but you can improvise one using a cut open soda bottle.
