Hey /toy/, I'm visiting NYC for the first time next weekend and was wondering if there were any toy/hobby stores and other /toy/-adjacent cool places to visit.
Looking for anything under the sun, really. Figma/Figuarts/other Japanese figure lines, vintage TFs/Joes/80's toylines, Gunpla, Lego, 3rd Party TFs, Toku stuff, Western Collector lines like Mezco/3A, basically anything that you typically wouldn't find in a TRU or Walmart.
And like I mentioned earlier, it doesn't have to be limited to shops. If you think there's any sort of place or attraction that a typical /toy/ Soldier would enjoy, sound off as well!
Thanks!

Thanks, dude!
Didn't catch that thread, guess it was already archived when I tried searching.

Yeah, it was already archived when I linked it. Hope you were able to read it all before it was deleted.
What's the single best deal you've had on any toy purchase, be it from retail or a BST or a 3rd party site?
For me it's the 1/12 Yamato Scopedog I got for ~$50 on ebay because the box was water damaged. The figure itself was perfectly fine though.
>>5875126
You'd better sell that while you still can, cause 3A just made that shit irrelevant!
As far as money saved on an initial purchase; Thirty bucks for a Polynian Clover, after I'd missed out on the releases and the price started shooting up.
Or for a deal including buying and recouping; a lot of about 6 Queen's Blade Revoltechs for $50 that had been cannibalized because the seller wanted to make a "do not steal" character of their own out of various parts. I ended up with a complete Menace with all the accessories for myself, and a couple of "custom" figures I was able to sell to someone else for a little more than what I paid for the lot.

What is the worst figure you've ever seen?
(mass produced only, nobody cares about the custom amiibo you saved)

Im honestly surprised that they kept "Bazinga" off of that packaging.
Is it on the back? I don't want to praise them for the smallest degree of subtly only to find out the entire back is giant Bazinga.
Good news! Tomy heard all of you and how you wanted to flock the rabbit!
I think they were $15. New merch gives me hope we'll get Bogo and Flash out soon, if not a few more surprises by Christmas.
They look pretty good though.
Oh shit, really? God damn, Tomy, between Little Armory and this, you're giving Koto a run for its money for my favorite company.
How big are they?
Hello /toy/ I'm Rick Harrison from Gold and Silver Pawn Shop in Las Vegas, NV. Do you guys play with your toys? If so, how?
I'm a TFfag and my extension of playing with stuff is picking up my figures, flipping em between modes, experimenting with weapon setups, and posing them.
>>5868414
Alot of us like to take photos of our toys, and in a sense you do need to play with them in order to get the good poses out.
Unless you are a filthy ass MOC collector.
>>5868414
Depends on what you mean by 'play'.
If you just pose them for display or photos then that's fine but if you actually run around the house swinging a Buzz Lightyear toy around making airplane and laser shooting noises them you have serious problems if you're over the age of 12 and being serious about it.

>I'm a TFfag and my extension of playing with stuff is picking up my figures, flipping em between modes, experimenting with weapon setups, and posing them.
I do the exact same thing.
Though I may take pictures of my figures from time to time.
If you could put any toy in the cupboard and have it come to life what would you put in?
>>5866473
A fleshlight.
>>5866491
What kind of fleshlight?
The droid looks amazing like some sort of 3A concept
The Death trooper looks shiny. We need a better picture of him
And what looks like some hoth guy

The fingers are in a clenched fist on the right hand, but kind of splayed on the left hand. There's 0% chance that this thing will have articulated fingers, right?
Either way, I want 5.

RIP D-Arts Pokemon. The only good Pokemon figures ever made.
>>5865324
they're continued as SHFiguarts, we've had Pikachu and Charizard got a reprint.
Maybe we'll get lucky and get more

>The only good Pokemon figures ever made.
except they all sucked aside from Mega Blaziken and maybe Blastoise (if you don't care about articulation).
The new 6inch Tomy figures are just as good as the D-Arts figures, if not better in some respects.

Have we discussed this yet? Seems like a good opportunity to get some decent dinosaurs. I want Matel to make the dinosaurs soft like Kenner did.
>>5864633
>Seems like a good opportunity to get some decent dinosaurs.
>Mattel
also yes this has been discussed previously.
Hasbro really should be ashamed of themselves for letting it come to this. Kenner's JP lines where groundbreaking, some of the highest quality toys in the 90's, with cutting edge sculpts and magnificent paintwork, much of which holds up to this day. Hasbro sat on this license for decades and did very little with it, coasting on Kenner molds nearly 20 years after they first came out.
Kenner was too good for Hasbro.
>>5865090
They even cast Chris Pratt so that Hasbro could copy and paste his face from Marvel GotG figures.
Stinky Diver wants you to bring only the wackiest, weirdest GI Joes and friends to this thread. Let's see some of the coolest 3 3/4 inch figures you can think of.
Alley Viper, comin in hot!
Uh... h-hey guys. Can we come to the party?
Please help me. Everything hurts.
