Is it the mobile version that is giving you unrelated shit?

I woke up this morning needing a Rocketeer figure in my life for some reason. Is my memory failing me, or wasn't there some sort of issue with the Mezco Rocketeer?

Also, does anyone have any experience with the Medicom RAH Rocketeer? Thoughts?

I've heard reports that the joints are very fragile since Mezco very stupidly decided to use clear plastic for the joints. I haven't had any issues with mine other than some loose joints, which I fixed with acrylic floor polish. A few minor nitpicks though - The front jacket flap isn't removable like in the promo pics and the head joint doesn't tlit as far back in the photo. I cheated and popped the head off and taped it to the ball peg for the photo.

>>
>>6144904
Have there been actual reported breakages though? Cause I remember people freaking out over the clear pegs on Hasbro's K-2SO too, but those seem quite sturdy.

>>6144911
Er, sorry, yeah. Funko. I get them confused sometimes since they're both five letters and end with the "co" sound.

I hope you guys can help me out.

I'm looking for a toy I owned back in like, 2000 or 2001. It was a robot pet insect. There were 4 of them - red, green, blue, and yellow. I had the blue one. They weren't those bullshit Hexbugs - they were legit like a foot long.

You could control them with a wireless remote, or let them roam around and do their own thing. You could also battle with them, or even feed them by hitting the "feed" button on the remote. They would then walk up to you and "eat" from the remote.

I cannot for the life of me remember those damn things. Can you help a brother out?

I had the green one and my brother had the blue one.
I remember finding these really disappointing and 2bh hexbugs (especially nanos with the track sets) were a lot more fun.

Going to Singapore in a few days, can any anons rec me some good stores to buy shit? Primarily looking for figmas and SAS stuff.
13 posts and 2 images submitted.
>>
There's an antiques and toys fleamarket at China Square Central on Sundays (along with the regular toy shops). It's a good general representation of the toy market here.

Plaza Singapura's top floor has a few toy outlets with figma. There's also La Tendo and Dollz Inc, old timey shops now at Suntec City lvl 3. Prices can be tourist-trappy at these places.

SAS I believe there's only a small market mostly fulfilled through preorders here...

When are you coming over exactly? Most retail shops and that fleamarket will be closed for Chinese New Year holidays (28th~29th). Most will only resume business on 31st.
>>
Just go buy them online. I'm from Singapore and I buy all my shit on HLJ. Local prices aren't great.
>>
>>6143095
Oh yeah I'm aware of CSC, been there before.

I've been to Plaza Sing too but didn't see any figma stuff there. I'll give it another shot.

I'm coming over from the 27th to the 4th. Will the actual brick and mortar stores be open on days other than Sunday or am I doomed to miss it by one day?

>>6143096
I already do buy most of my shit online in the country I currently live in but it'd be nice for me to get some stuff from Singapore too.

For those unfamiliar, "Plamo" is a shortened form of "plastic model." If it's made of plastic, someone can probably help you here.

***Non-Gundam Group Build***

So this is pretty straightforward, build something that isn't Gundam. I literally do not care what it is, if it's not Gundam it counts (and just to get this out of the way, Bandai is fine). I do not require full paint jobs this time either, as I know the vast majority of people here build Bandai and that's it.

This is also not a prize build, but a regular group build.

Why did the quality suddenly drop so low?

Kek when my 30 year hand-me-down figures and my Armada trilogy toys are still held together and newer figures from CW and TR have shoddy QC, lighter plastic that has stress marms fresh out the box, and joints looser than my own mother, I think it's a safe deduction that the materials newer TFs are made of are shittier than toys of old. Go to/lg/ and ask about the drop their brand has had in quality as of late for more insight on this phenomena.
>>
>>6142395
A) They where somewhat rushed designs, based on Floro Dery's artwork, which where very high concept and not taking the limitations of a physical toy in mind.

B) There was probably a shift in the design team; the old Dia clone team had changed so there where probably a different team doing the 86 toys and beyond, versus the 1984 and 85 toys

Only downside is that they're completely die-cast, so not many toys can hold them unless they have really strong joints.

thanks non collectors Where's Rey was never a problem.
She is still pegwarming 16 months later!
>>

You're using English words but I have very little idea as to what you just said.
>>
>>6140094
If this year a Where's Jyn "movement/campaign" starts up again then I'll be angry.

Last year a Where's Rey campaign started mainly by non collectors who probably never even looked in a toy shop.

Thanks to that campaign, Hasbro have repacked Jyn and Cassian in every wave so far when there are still left overs from Force Friday.

As to Rey, she can still be found pegwarming 16 months later.

Can we have a thread about these little dudes? I just only now found out about them and they rock

I really like the dedication to this. The little dice game, the fact that every one of them can pop out a die with their own face on them, and the actual sculpts are pretty detailed. Only real negative is that the plastic they're made of is kind of flimsy and that you can only import them from Japan. I was really disappointed to find the Deer I ordered had an Antler sticking out in a way it shouldn't. But on the plus, the Hamster figure is pretty freaking sweet, my favorite so far. Can't wait till I get some more cash so I can buy some more of them

Anybody else collecting these? I haven't found much about them aside from a couple of obscure forums

Yesterday, I got the Figma Homura Akemi, and while I was posing her, her shoulder joint broke like in pic related (picture is not my figure; was too lazy to take a picture), and was wondering what the best type of glue to fix it is. I don't see a point in ordering a replacement joint, when this looks easily fixable.

>>6137594

Just buy a bag full of them on eBay
>>
>>6137594
There is no way to fix it. Gluing and pinning will do nothing but be a shitty hold over until the next time it snaps. There is a flaw in the plastic that will never go away, and any torque you apply will just get it closer to shearing. Order a new joint or treat it like a statue.
>>
>>6137598
I'm trying to avoid ordering anything, because I'm in the military, and there's a possibility of me getting deployed soon, and I don't want to have to worry about the package arriving with no one to claim it for me.

What sort of learning, skills, and resources should I acquire if I want to become a Toy Designer? I'm aware it falls under the umbrella of Industrial Design as far as majors are concerned, but how should I go about preparing for a job in designing toys?

Personally I'm most interested in the process behind action figures but I'm curious to hear about the whole industry. Share your thoughts or experiences.

For starters you should probably learn 3D modeling. I know a lot of professionals use Rhino3D but there are a few more.

Drawing concepts of your ideas and building a portfolio of prototypes and sketches will give you something to show at interviews.
