Why do they never release really premium Power Rangers toys?
If I could get a near perfect of the actual miniature from the show, I'd shell out however many shekels they wanted.
>>6169223
You're describing the SoC.
We're only just now transitioning into the 90's kid era. The 80's kids had their fun and now are transitioning to obscenely priced sideshow statues.Slowly, but surely, we're getting premium, or at least nicer, stuff. There's a real nice Chogokin Megazord coming out. There's also a really nice vinyl of the Megazord from X-Plus that looks exactly like the show suit prop.Maybe in 5 or 10 years we'll see more prop replicas of the actual zords.
On big issue when it comes to getting more MMPR quality figures is that most of those quality figures come from Japan, where the Sentai season MMPR was based on isn't particularly important. It has a following, but other series eclipse it in popularity. Sentai series are largely treated as disposable with some exception; old mecha designs are rarely revisited or given new figures.

What's the most popular Sentai series in Japan?
Your fave toy received?
Xmas in the 90's, asked for pic related.Xmas comes and don't receive present, Dad tells me to go fetch him a coke from kitchen (we keep drinks under kitchen table) go into kitchen, move back kitchen table seat to get to coke, find box wrapped in green paper, bring it back through, dad has massive grin on face, tear it open. Dragon fucking island!
Best memory as I wanted this so bad plus dad made a big deal of it.
whats yours?
>>6168944
This guy and Megatron. Wanted them so bad, but knew getting both were near impossible.
We got to pick a present to open under the tree and I knew the box size and immediately grabbed this! When my grandparents came over later they had got me Megatron. One of the best Christmas.
>>6168944
Nice OP, dragon island was one of those rare toys that I played with over and over again. I was bought a ton of stuff growing up and most of it lost it's luster after a day or two, but this I came back to over and over again.
My dad bought me this when I was around 7.
I didn't get to see him much, so time spent with him or things he gave to me I really cherish. I wish I still had it but it was among all my other lego stuff that got sold when I moved home.
You will preorder this right?

These... actually look pretty decent.

>>These... actually look pretty decent.
FANGOR is especially nice
>>6147946
yeah, i'm digging him too
>>6147930
I'm not too keen on Hawke. She looks like she belongs in the other line they're continuing, the animated one. It also looks like they invested in new tooling for the body but just went and painted the clothing on like some shitty wrestling figure.
And I was hoping we'd get Hoove before Quakke but at least they didn't half-ass him like Mattel probably would have.
Hey, I feel an urge to get in touch with my childhood again and to revisit ranges like Street Sharks, Small Soldiers or the Spawn Toys.
Problem is them being classic pieces now, drives up the prieces on ebay etc.
Are there any places to get them cheaper, or are there at least companies who produce equally edgy figures today?Articulation would be nice too.
>>6177090
Hey I have that Viking spawn. How much would you pay for it?
>>6177096
Depends. Are you from Europe?
>>6177090
Man McFarlane made some awesome spawn figures. Depending on which ones you want, they're actually fairly cheap prices.
Regardless of the garbage show, did Wild Force have the best Zords?
Gaoranger had a pretty dope theme song too
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N9FlxMxDDhU
Probably so, yeah. I think they had the fewest changes from the Japanese versions at that point. I got Animus at the tail end of that line and was impressed by how far Zords had come since the last one I owned (Super Zeo Megazord). Then I bought the Ninja Storm Megazord a month or so later and couldn't believe how shitty it was in comparison. I wish I had bought more Wild Force Zords.
>>6175285
the one with gorilla for the torso still the coolest zord ever
So my gf wants a Hot Toys Crow figure. She found one online but it's suspicously cheap and coming from china. My assumption is that it's a bootleg.
My question to you guys though, is how bad/good are Hot Toys knockoffs and what can you tell me about them?
>>6169448
Sculpting wise they are the same, paint application could be sloppy and the material used for the clothes could be shitty, otherwise they are sometimes just as good as the legit thing.
Don't all Hot Toys come from China? The company is based in Hong Kong and their manufacturing is done on the mainland.
Are you talking about the $37 ones on ebay? The Crow wasn't a hot seller but I wouldn't expect a legit one to run less than $150. Most Hot Toys bootlegs are pretty shit. It's not like most toy bootlegs where they can just crank out midnight special runs using existing stolen moulds. There's a lot of intricate sewing, painting, etc. that let's them justify the cost of the originals.
Just buy her a legit one. Valentine's Day is next week.
redpill me on RC cars. are they worth it? will I regret getting an onroad one due to the inflexibility? are ones under 100 gonna be crap?
Yes in the rc world you get what you pay for. I own a 400 dollar chassis and its a nice car.
>>6166885
On road is fun, but you gotta have. Big place to use it. Most common scale is 1/10, so the lest expensive stuff will be around there. If you're set on a street car, check out hpi and their sprint series (or rs, if you have some extra bucks). For off-road, I really enjoy ecx.
>>6167094
This. I think the fun comes from building, tweaking, testing and meeting up with other enthusiasts to race yours against theirs. So I guess you'll have to find out if you like building and tweaking them first.
Hey toy. So I work with kids, and they like Beyblade. Kids.
We got them some arenas to stop tearing up the tables and floors, but they're getting chewed up to. Is there a way to extend the lifespan of these things or should I just expect to go through four a semester?
>>6175544
>>6175544
Use a plate.
Action figures look like they're all deformed and shit nowadays, and lack poseability. What happened to the greats like Kenner or Toybiz?
They're aimed at children mostly, so they make them cartoony to be less threatening to parent's buying their kid a man with an axe. That's why "collector" brands exist, to capitalize on older buyers with realistic designs in most cases. Unless you're trying collect a character from a kid's show in which case why are you watching shows for five year olds?
>>6173120
Kenner was going just as to shit in the 90s when they got bought out by Hasbro. Toybiz the same, but early 2000s. For toybiz, it was QC. For Kenner, just shoddy products. Never got past the 5POA stage, just started making the sculpts more exxxtreme exxxagerated proportions.
>>6173136
Kenner's Beast Wars was articulated as fuck for the era, though.
Post your toys taking part in america's best tradition
Brocken Jr is a bro though. And not really a Nazi. Cap would understand.
How about jump kicking an Algerian?

Thanks man
Hey, /toy/. Are there still any toys being made in the vein of Action Fleets or the Hasbro Zoids toys? Smallish scale vehicles/mechs with little pilot guys that can be put into them?
They're like the comfiest style toy.
Not that immediately spring to mind. Closest you're going to get is the new Diaclone stuff, or the current Transformers line where the heads come off and become tiny dudes that can go in the cockpits of the vehicle modes
The closest mainstream thing at the moment is the titans return transformers line

So let's keep this going! Put up some pages that have been asked for but what else can we dig up?
I tried to consolidate all the relevant stuff from last thread so it could be found easily.

how cheap did you have to go to not use clear plastic for the blue parts
I have always loved nerdy shit, like toys.
I am not sure I am into toys as much as some of you guys though. In fact, my love for "nerdy" things usually comes in the form of artwork, books, movies, or games related to the specific fandoms I get involved in such as
>Warhammer 40k books
>Warhammer 40k games
>Warhammer 40k art
and so on. I don't collect too many toys, so I don't know much about collecting them.
What do you guys look for in the toys that you buy? What toys are you guys most interested in?
For me it's some of the coming up Mass Effect Andromeda figures.
Have you guys ever bought any figures off of AliExpress? what was that experience like?
>>6174975
>What do you guys look for in the toys that you buy?
A well sculpted ass

The ones with great ass

A man of taste

at one point it was flavor of the month anime and the niftiest of gundam models, now i focus on more relevant stuff, mostly my childhood nostalgia.
While gundam is a big part still only gundam wing based models and robot damashii action figures (and only a few at that) do the job rather than half the years model kit releases (sick of building what just stands there), robotech/macross has come back thanks to the hi metal r line (keeping it to just those so i dont blow out room space with the larger toys), and since im clearly a mecha fag transformers gets a massive serving with a healthy dose of shitty retail toys to mess and my holy grails, the masterpiece line which is near the endof the desire list.
and of course anything vidya related, with some notes from this fine man>>6174983
