Thanks for motivating me to finally start on my own Dark Eldar. I'll be sure to have them all painted before anyone sees them. I've been putting it off for years and I have about 200 models but I'll do it. In the end it'll be worth it.

OP here. We own multiple armies and my eldar are mostly done save some scat bikes and the wraightknight. We literally just got this table set up and are having a terrain day. He hasn't gotten around to painting his Tau yet.

Yes. I had to fight 1 Y'vhara, and 2 Normal Riptides, and 2 Storm Surges. The name of the game here, is target priority. The list has a LOT of S8 AP2 shooting. Put it in the LOS of a Broadside team, and just tear his ass open. If he didn't put them in cover, he's a moron. If he did, 4+ to not die (as it's still Instant Death) is pretty good. Once you mop up anything with Interceptor, mop up his army. Keep the bikes containing the Autarch safe though! He lets you add 1 to your reserves, so everything comes in on 2's. Also, that's good. Once you've got your fliers in, you're creating so many valid targets, that he'll ignore all of your other scary shit.

Worst thing about 40k (or warhammer in general) when I played it was being one of the few gamers who actually took time and care painting their models. I wasn't a god tier painter but I put in the effort and was sick to death whenever I had to play some pleb whose army had been based coated for 6 months - 1 year + with all the mold lines showing through.

One day I'll get back into painting, until then have the same Corsairs I post from time to time.

Naw dude! Here's what you do, take single suits, and give them a TL'd Fusion Blaster, and a normal one. In squads of 1-2, and throw them behind tanks. This will let you fuck them in the rear. Or, if you've got 2 Stealth Teams and a Ghost Keel, use the Wall of Mirrors formation. You always hit on their rear armor.

Furthermore, this is a casual game in my living room, I don't need to bring fully painted models. My group enjoys the gaming aspect more, I'm definitely the painter, but with 7 armies, I sometimes get itchy, spraybase the molded plastic cocaine and throw down

My corsairs were a special project I did with a few friends, 500 points every 1-2 months so I had time to give them. Not to mention something colourful to paint.

My main army from when I played was Tau and even now not all of them are fully painted, Converted pathfinders and kroot are semi painted at best.

Nah, my store has some awesome terrain, and for Tournaments a local group brings some fucking amazing tables. Best out of them, is a Tau Outpost, with led lit up terrain, and Motorized turrets.

See, stuff is all over, not just off to the sides or stacked in the middle. Cover is big enough to hide a model if you try. You can get up on the terrain even though it's only one level.

Of course Infinity is a game where you want to have fire lanes, high ground and covering positions and stuff, but the same table would be fine for 40k.

For a game to be fair and fun, there has to be a battlefield that isn't one-thing or another, but an interesting mixture.

You want:
1) two to four big scenic pieces (ruined buildings, monuments, etc) which should block LoS through them and set the feel of the table
2) a few smaller scenic bits (small shed-like buildings, forests, hills) that infantry can hide in/behind but do little for tanks,
3) a few flat pieces like Craters, that provide area-terrain but don't do anything for line of sight
4) some barricades (or tank-traps, chest-high-walls) that hardly interfere with infantry movement, but provide cover from a couple of directions and force Tanks to take Dangerous terrain checks.

Next time you guys have a game "forget" or "lose" most (not all) of the terrain, and demand he plays on an open board for once. After you obliterate him, suggest you play with that amount every game, then haggle to something sensible.
