Alright you heretical fucks, let's have another one of these with all the Chaos infecting the catalog. Somebody start us off by rolling a 1d10 for why we were Founded.
1. emporer thought of a cool new chapter name
2. emporer thought of a cool new color scheme
3. emporer got mad at Genes Workshop and purchased thirdparty miniature figuregenes
4. emporer wanted a chapter to drive his daughter to soccer practise
Alright, we're a counter to some threat. Let's use the enemies relation table to find out who we're supposed to curbstomp the shit out of first. Roll 1d100.
I CAN FEEL THE EMPEROR OVERTAKING ME
IT IS A GOOOOD PAIN.
We were created to kick the absolute shit out of some scum-sucking Daemon Prince/Greater Daemon.
Let's diverge more again. Roll 1d5 to find out which Chaos Alignment we're supposed to purge.
>1 is Khorne
>2 is Tzeentch
>3 is Nurgle
>4 is Slaanesh
>5 is Chaos Undivided
Alright, our Chapter was founded to beat some Nurgle Daemon Princeling senseless, now back to normal tables. When was our chapter founded? Roll 1d100.
Unknown. We just popped out of the Mechanicum's arsehole at some forgotten point of history.
Next up is the Primogenitor, roll 1d100, anybody who rolls <=50 gets shot.
WE'RE RAVEN GUARD BABY
Unfortunately we aren't as well equipped as the Dark Angels or as cool as the White Scars, but WE AREN'T ULTRAMARINES, HURRAH.
Now roll 1d10 for geneseed purity.
WE'RE FUCKIN PURE
AND RAVEN GUARD
I don't give a fuck about belief rules, the Emperor is a capital G God and we worship the fuck out of him. We worship him so hard we produce a brown note to fight traitors on our voxes.
Now roll 1d10 for Chapter demeanor.
We uphold the Honor of the Emperor of Mankind. CHIVALRY HO
But not everybody is perfect, so let's roll 1d10 for our Flaw.
Faith in suspicion, we hate some cunts in the Imperium and they hate us back. We hate them so much we won't even work with the assholes.
Let's roll on the friendly relations table to see what Imperial institution we loath. Roll 1d100.
We hate the guts of some Guard Regiment(s) from a specific planet. We can fluff that up later.
Now, roll one d100 to see what our Chapter Legend is.
A Battle Brother from the Raven Guard itself or some previous Raven Guard successor who provided his geneseed to start our Chapter is our figure of Legend. Roll 1d100 on the same table so we can find out who exactly he was.
Wow. The former Chapter Master personally stepped up and left the Chapter he was the head of to forge us. I feel honored.
Roll 1d100 to see what our badass Grandpa did to gain notoriety.
Looks like he completed the mission before it even began, or started it by banishing the Daemon Prince, and tasking us with its destruction when it returns from damnation.
Now, roll 1d100 for the Homeworld.
Rolled 29 (1d100)
Home sweet home, the Hive shithole. Oh well, maybe there's some nice clouds above all the fucking smog.
1d100 for the terrain.
Ice ice baby.
While we're freezing our balls off here, roll 1d10 for how we rule the Hive World.
We are the sons of a most righteous shadow. We are the fathers of a brilliant cleansing light. We are the brothers of the faithful. We are the enemies of the unclean.
Like the frozen Barrens of our crowded world we offer no mercy to the unclean, and to the heretic. But for the loyal child of the Emperor, no greater love can we bestow than our protection.
Distant rule. We're either on the moon of the Hive World or in the highest spire, and swoop down to abduct children in vans.
Now, roll 1d10 for chapter organization.
So we told the Ultramarines to go fuck themselves to some degree and have divergent organization.
Now roll 1d10 for combat doctrine
So how do we want to do this then brothers? If we're going by the first response it's terror, averaged it's drop pod, or there's always lotto.
I like Terror.
Let's keep average in reserve and at the end we can choose one result to take the average instead (so long as it won't change any other results) or choose to keep what we have.
Terror it is then, right and proper Knights of Corax we are.
Moving on, roll 1d100 for special equipment as we're divergent and not cookie-cutter Ultra assholes.
Traditional weapon. We favor something a bit vanilla over more specialized shit like custom jump packs.
I recommend grav gun, because for terrorism there's nothing more frightening than seeing timmy implode.
No there's more. Somebody needs to roll a 1d100 for chapter beliefs.
Ha, doesn't matter this time. We revere Corvus Corax and worship our Primarch.
Now, let's roll a 1d10 to see how many battle brothers there are to kick the shit out of chaos and send them packing for the Eye.
Brother, do not doubt the work what a flamer and megaliters of promethium can do.
PREPARE YOURSELVES BROTHERS
We exist to murder the shit out of some Nurgle Daemon Prince and all his cronies.
We don't know when we were created.
We're Raven Guard.
We're fuckin pure with no defects (lolwut).
Our demeanor is to uphold the Emperor's honor, IE chivalrous.
We hate some random guard cunts.
Our founder who provided our geneseed was either the Chapter Master of the Raven Guard itself or a successor, who then stepped down to found us. He's famed for punching a Daemon Prince back into the warp.
Our homeworld is a Hive Ice-World, which we rule distantly and may as well be a legend.
Our Chapter organization is divergent from the norm.
We specialize in being 2spooky4me
We diverge from the Codex due to favoring a certain weapon. I suggest grav for spooky implosions.
We revere our Primarch Corvus Corax.
I say we're a mini legion, cause fuck tha codex.
Friends with a Rogue Trader
I do like the idea of this chapter being organized as some sort of ghostly privateers, cleansing the spaceways of Nurgle's scurvy filth. We could play around with the Flying Dutchman mythos and such that way.
>Friends with a Rogue Trader
Because he shares our sense of style and panache!
POWER SABERS AND BRACES OF OVERCHARGED PLASMA PISTOLS!
HIGH ADVENTURE AWAITS ON THE ROILING CURRENTS OF THE EYE OF TERROR!
The odd thing out are those Guard enemies of ours. Maybe...
>Chapter and Guard unit cross paths some time in the past
>Chapter boards Guard transports, are greeted with honor
>bunch of the Guardsmen turn out to have some plague of Nurgle's
>Chapter decides to toss the infected overboard
>Guard officers are reluctant, as there are so many infected they'd basically render themselves combat-ineffective
>Chapter is like, "Appreciate your loyalty, bros, but also fuck it."
>forcibly cleanse the vessel, with all the terrific terror-inducing tactics they're famous for
>story becomes legend, Guard is pissed, vows never to forget the transgression
>native merchants and other spacegoers from the Guard unit's homeworld as well as the Guardsmen themselves regularly prey on the Chapter's merchants when they encounter one another
>Chapter is rightfully pissed, but knows that igniting a civil war is antithetical to both the Emprah and their founders, and so they wage a cold war on the their foes, regularly staging (non-lethal, but disruptive) ambushes on civilian shipping
>tales of ghostly vessels appearing in their space keep the Guard guys and their people too scared to really do anything, and stasis is thus maintained
