>I'll just use my Landspeeder Storm to get my 5 Scouts into combat turn 1!
>Five (5) Scouts
Ive been running mono-slaneesh and Ive been doing fairly well, at 1500 I've played 5 games, 2 kill points 3 objectives, and im 4-1, only lost to tau once because I deepstriked poorly and ate supporting fire over watch. Im wondering how effective CSM are allied with slaneesh and how would I play them? I like CSM, Raptors and possessed models so I'd like to make a list around them that'd do pretty well. Any ideas?
Just because you can make a fucking infrographic doesn't mean you are reading the rules correctly.
Scouts rule says a unit that makes a scout move can't charge on the first game turn - a unit inside a transport that is scouting is moving - it can't fucking charge.
The rule was probably meant to say Game Turn but no one gives enough of a shit to correct it.
If I ever see a Blitz Brigade retard in the flesh I'm gonna purposefully start collecting Eldar just so I can Charge him with Jain Zar on the first turn out of my scouting corsairs venom.
> a unit inside a transport that is scouting is moving - it can't fucking charge.
This leap in logic is hilarious, so according to you units that moved in the movement phase also can't charge?
Also, are you even more retarded in that you don't understand that scout is not a movement? It's a redeployment? Don't answer that, you'll embarrass yourself further.
All this talk of Blitz Brigade just makes me sad for Ork players. I was playing my buddy today with my War Convocation (per his request) and he was running BB and I still tabled him on turn 3. I don't even argue BB because Orks are so piss awful it doesn't hurt to throw them a bone.
Riptide is WS 2 with 3 attacks, while scouts are WS 4. Since it needs a 5 to hit, it's only going to be hitting one scout on average, and possibly not even killing it. It'll take at least 2 turns to punch through them all.
Stay fucking mad you salty fatass WAAC fag, rules say you can. Scout is a redeployment, not an actual movement, as you can move in the movement phase next, so the unit isnt without scout can assault.
I'm sorry your elf boy pussy is getting ravaged by big orc cock so frequently, maybe you should lube up to your games.
>Jain "Dies to shooting first turn, as strong as a daemon prince for twice the cost" Zar
Ok, fine anon.
I'm going to print off your infographic onto a T-shirt - then I'm gonna go buy 8 Venoms and all of the best combat units elfdar can offer.
Then I'm gonna systematically offend everyone at my local GW with my gay turn 1 charge list because you say its ok.
I'm getting back into the game for the first time in about a decade and am looking to rebuild my Nid army.
My old army wasn't much (I was an Eldar fanboy back in my teens), given that I started university and then couldn't afford GW products any more, but it had a Hive Tyrant, a unit of Tyranid Warriors (one of which has gone missing), about 20 Termagants, 20 Genestealers and 7 Hormagaunts.
All of the stuff I have is reasonably well suited for 6th/7th edition, but I'm looking to see what kind of things I'd need to round out a decent 1000 point army, just to get back into the swing of things with.
I've already picked up a new Hive Tyrant/Swarmlord and some Tyrant Guards. I figure that should cover my HQ needs well enough. What else should I be looking at?
Blitz Brigade has a specific rule that prevents units from charging first turn. Even the fucking scout debate is worthless, because there is a SPECIFIC BLITZ BRIGADE RULE that prevents first turn charges. What the fuck is going on?
Have fun ever getting in a game after, orks being mid tier with 1 gimmick is fine, king cheese using super cheese is just "fuck off" territory.
You should buy this for your eldar, its an effective unit that serves well.
>Doesnt know the difference between Player Turns and Game Turns
I'm no expert, but from what I've read there's a difference in consistency between model paints and craft paints. You'd need to water down craft paints a lot more and you'd likely get a worse paint job out of it at the end.
It is largely a matter of taste - I use a combination of both. For my bulk colors like black, base white, etc, I use apple barrel. For my specific colors like metallics and shades and the like I use model paint.
The special rule prevents charges on the first player turn, not game turn. By going second, you can charge on your first turn, and you're still exposed to a turn of shooting, so you're not dodging anything this way.
I play Orks you retard.
I just think the formation sucks dick even with turn 1 charge - but I think it's pathetic that the entire Ork player population of 4chan systematically becomes RAW faggots just to push a formation that isn't even good in the first place, when the consequence of their RAW faggotry is Eldar and Space marines being 5x more powerful.
>- then I'm gonna go buy 8 Venoms and all of the best combat units elfdar can offer.
>Then I'm gonna systematically offend everyone at my local GW with my gay turn 1 charge list because you say its ok.
>Hey guys, here's my sick Eldar army!
>Oh good, no Wraithknights.
>Yeah but check this shit out! I can charge on Turn 1!
>H-hey wait a sec. Aren't you going to dispute it?
>Why would I dispute it? It's right there in the rules.
>Yeah but it's a Turn 1 charge!
>Yeah, so? Other armies can do that too. Frankly I'm just glad to be facing an Eldar army that isn't just Scatbikes and Wraithknights.
>Oh....well....um ok, I'm charging you.
>Cool, Overwatch time.
its 575 points minimum and thats if your wagons have no weapons (auto immobilzed on 5-6) or extra armour (stun lock)
Please tell us your godlike strategies then 20star Warboss
I ram your tanks, and I tankshock your infantry, I assault your now redundant shooty units, and I sit on objective with AV 14.
>I place my army on the board
>I remove it next turn.
>Knows the source on it
You're the gay one anon.
>I ram your tanks, and I tankshock your infantry, I assault your now redundant shooty units, and I sit on objective with AV 14.
Yes, because vehicles, especially ones that get close to the enemy to do their job, are well renowned for being invincible in this edition.
When I run Blitz Brigade, and I've been running it since the supplement came out in 2014, I'm lucky if I have 2 Battlewagons left at the start of my first turn, if I go second. Assault armies like KDK just assault the transports after I scout, and shooting armies have access to piles of melta.
It does though beat the alternative as you rightly point out.
Played in a really great FLGS tournament today - saw lots of cool armies, decent variety and very few 'netlists'. I hope next time we'll have 20 players - our 40k community is growing right now and its pretty cool.
You are wrong - for WS its double +1 to hit on 5s. You look like a dick and what's worse a dick who doesn't know what they're talking about.
That's good news anon! I'm hoping to go to my first tournament in April and kind of nervous about what to expect. With my roommate moving out at the end of the semester my chances of getting a game will be slim unless I expand my horizons
Okay faggots here's my list, and no, my meta is not that competitive

Yes it's fun to play, I have 3 warlord traits, Flash Gitz in helicopters and an orky deathstar that sometimes ends up being S6 with a 4++
I'm literally looking at the chart in my 7th edition rulebook.
Pic related - I just took this from my rulebook.
Where is >>45119947 from because its not the 7th edition rulebook.
I got it from the Rulebook in the Mega link. I just assumed it was correct because everyone always memes about how bad Tau are in close combat.
Turns out they hit marines just as easily as Guardsmen do.
There's your problem. The digital books are fucking awful, they're filled with misprints.
Here is the non quick reference chart from the main rulebook.
Never ever rely on a digital version of any GW book.
The digital rulebooks are full of error. In the AdMech book it lists Kataphron Destroyers as being able to replace their phospor serpentas with cognis flamers for 5 points but never actually lists them as having phospor serpentas.
So basically the only thing we've learned is that 5 Scouts assaulting turn one get tenderized by Riptide and Combined Fire and if they somehoiw live they get their shit handed to them in CC
Use 2 units to fire at squad 1, 2 units to fire at squad 2
They Overwatch 2-3 down, then it is damn near impossible for scouts to actually hurt Riptide, then riptide attacks and wins combat.
Anyone else get to play against the Supremacy armour yet?
I got the honour of meeting it in a 1500 point game today.
>list is 3 Riptides, bunch of marker drones, Ethereal, 2 naked crisis for tax and the big guy
>Guy running the list seems cool, not too familiar with the rules
>Hammer and anvil deployment
>Get blown away anytime I give the big guy LoS
>I manage to kill 2/3 Riptides and Ethereal for bonus VPs
>Comes down hard on my Riptide killers
>Down to 3 units + Warlord at bottom of turn 4
>Play hide and seek to avoid getting tabled
>Miraculously am able to hang onto warlord + 2 objectives
>end up losing by 1 VP
>In a kill point game
Pic related is the last thing you want to see on the opposite side of the table.
>Of course, if I'd realized what breaking down that door would reveal, I'd have holstered my sword, procured a suitable decanter of amasec and retired for an evening with Amberly instead. But, as it was, I remained blissfully unawares, so I strode forth, my eyes straining through the gloom to make out the distant shape hunched over a cogitator.
Assuming you're getting supporting Fire Markerlights for the accuracy, the Landspeeder should be close enough to fire off some missiles or Bolter shots and the pathfinders/drones and kill off most of them.
You're also about to learn something new. Chapter Master Orbital Bombardment does not prevent charges. Your Chapter Master can drop the hammer of the goddamn emperor on someone, and then charge them immediately to slam the survivors with his own LITERAL hammer.
Also, Smoke Launchers can be deployed even if a vehicle suffered a Crew Stunned result. It might not seem like much, but if you can't do anything else with the vehicle, a 5+ cover save can potentially let it live to see the next turn.
> Favorite character is Chapter Master Lias Issodon
> Literally BIG BOSS in power armour
> Yandere Big Boss appears out of fucking nowhere whenever I want to talk with someone, and puts them in a chokehold
MFW when my brother in law and I are playing in a local tourney tomorrow, it what is usually a fairly casual meta.Drop by the shop to look at the final roster. 14 teams, 5 tau/tau teams, 2 eldar/eldar teams. Its his first tourney in a long time, and hes trying to get back into the game. It might be a long day
> Go to a tournament with a Raptors list
> Big Boss himself giving infiltrate to 3 Grav-cannon squads
> Callidus Assassin to fuck with my enemy even further than what Big Boss does
> Table an Ultramarines player on turn 3
> MFW he calls me a craven for having all of my space marines infiltrating, with an empty deployment on turn 1.
>sob players still whine for buffs
I don't think I've seen them whine for buffs. Sisters are a solid army. They just have a really outdated model range and have really boring rules.
I like the sound of this...
Like I said hes just easing into it with his first real army, and i started bugs because i hate myself
I think well tank game one to drop to the kiddie tables early. I also have a bottle of vodka to get us through the day
Holy shit, me and you are just 2 hours away from each other. You mentioned having 20 players, I think I've seen nearly all of them for my most recent tournament.
Have you met Nguyen? He's the guy that has swept every tournament ever in my area with a Dark Eldar army, by consistently tabling everyone on turn 2.
nah nigga, i know these fags well enough to write their lists unseen with about 89% accuracy. Riptides, stormsurges, markerlights, the works. One of the eldar lists is scat bikes and wraith knights, the other is aspects in venoms
What army will allow me to drop in and fuck up the opponents key points as fast as possible? I like the idea behind that scars formation that lets you go down a target list and fuck up each of them in turn (kinda funny how RG, the operator marines, don't get that, but space mongols do).
Im not even sure I would show up
Well try to have some fun anon
>inb4 one WAAC list beats another and the second game is vs WAAC "kiddie" list
to trigger your autism i'd guess
I'm a tyranid player that specializes in CC. My flags has this same "turn 1 assault unacceptable" mentality
I myself am indifferent since shooting hurts my guys more than CCand many of those same players wish for the ability to shoot into CC. I sometimes wonder if I'm just playing the wrong game or if I should just start playing an army that can actually shoot...
Drop pod Alliance imperium army. No one does it batter
Do you run Grotsnik? I cant justify his cost at all
good on ya m8
Because he fits the description of Big Boss perfectly. He's an operator of legendary skill and renown, such that he can lead a team of up to 30 people in FULL POWER ARMOUR to infiltrate any facility.
He is an outright god at marksmanship, being able to outdo anyone ever at shooting. Just like how big boss was able to defeat The End(The greatest sniper ever) in a sniper duel.
Oh, and in order for him to become the chapter master of the raptors, the previous chapter master obviously had to die in battle. He's obviously succeeded the previous master by honourable battle, thus succeeding his boss and becoming BIG BOSS.
>the previous chapter master obviously had to die in battle. He's obviously succeeded the previous master by honourable battle
Wait up, when did this happen? And that description fits half of the Raven Guard.
If the Raptors bro is still here can you post your Lias Issodan model? Im not sure what I want to use for him once I start them
Dear god those points haha, I want Zogwart and Wazzdakka back
Bolb will be slaughtered against gunline tau, no idea about blob vs eldar. They're excellent objective holders and anyone who gets into rapid fire range will be crying when you order FRFSRF
If you give vetmeras a heavy flamer they operate like a slower, objective secured hellhound and will erase light infantry. They're just a good choice
another normal day in Commorragh
Ok, 2 questions
1- A template hits everything underneath it, so on a multi-level ruin it hits everything under it on all floors, but can only kill what the firing model can see. Correct?
2- Each individual model in a unit must have range and line of sight to fire at another unit, correct? So if only half the unit is in range, and only 3 models have line of sight than only 3 models int he unit fire.
So I have browsed a few of these threads on and off since Christmas and decided this weekend I would stop by the local GW to actually watch a game and see some armies in person.
Up to this point I have read al the BRB fluff and am slowly learning
a metric fuckton ofrules.
The people playing at the store seemed really cool and there was a big 2v2 game of Space Marines and another table of Orks and Daemons. They let me observe both games and even slowed things down if I asked a question on someones off-turn. Their was also two more people painting who showed off some of their (very well painted) miniatures.
The problem was the GW salesperson, when I first showed up he was very overbearing and I let him know I didn't expect to buy anything yet and just wanted to watch. However he would interject a salespitch into any answer even if it wasnt a question directed at him. When I asked one of the painters what he liked about his Elder army he explained some of their fluff and was trying his best to explain a tank tactic he uses that went right over my head. (Wave Serpents, lots of them.) Next thing I know the salesperson is showing me where the Elder are and going on a spiel about the most cost effective purchase to start an army. Again I stopped him, told him I was just curious yet he did this again in one way or another FOUR more times. After models failed he tried to pitch the Big Rullebook and other novels he had afterwards he switched to hobby supplies.
It was nonstop and so overbearing. So now with that and seeing how well everyone else's armies are painted I am a bit put off by the hobby and the daunting task of entering it.
My current model for Lias Issodon has finished his bath in purple power, and awaits my purchase of greenstuff. I'm using this model as his baseline, but my goal will be to sculpt his head into being Big Boss, with a bandanna, eye patch, and scruffy beard.
Raptors anon here, one of my long-term projects is to make a Warboss with a Cardboard box model, and name him "Bigga boss". That way I could bring him to games with Orks; and while bringing loaded dice purely to roll Master of Ambushes for my warlord trait, and give infiltrate to a unit of 150 ork boyz.
Does he seek to become independent of the Imperium? Does he have a Titan and exterminatus weaponry? Does he go alone on important missions? Does he abduct Marines from other chapters to work for him? Does he have traumas of his predecessor death? Is he in a box?
I don't want to trigger any autists but I've been working on some Fire Warriors in the T'au sept colour. I've managed the first base colour paint on two models in two weeks. The long painting war continues.
No pics because I'm lazy.
The sale speeches suck, but they're trained to do it. It's part of the job. I'm sure most of the employees hate shoving shit down the throats of the customers but hey, that's the GW policy and they have to comply or they'll lose their jobs.
Calm down anon, I'm not talking about Venom Snake. But he soon will have his own personal Warlord Titan painted in camouflage. You know, to hide from gods.
> Does he abduct marines from other chapters to work for him?
Actually yes. So far Big Boss has abducted the following marines to work for him in the Raptors
> Darnath Lysander
> Chapter Master Smashfucker
> About 6 other random chapter masters
No worries I often don't post pics of my stuff because I see what others on tg do and feel like my scrubby stuff isn't worth posting.
I actually really like the T'au sept colors just because no one does them anymore.
Don't let it put you off too bad, just start small and practice. Its a great hobby even when it is odd.
GW is suffering due to AoS. Just ignore them. Its a fun hobby, and you sound like you'll be interested in both the hobby and gameplay side of things. Don't let one dickhead stop you
That is literally the exact same model I was going to use, I just dont like how decorated the armour is (my raptors are going to have very little embellishment on their armour.
Also are you me, play Orks and will start a Raptors army once im done painting orks
so basically never
Sorry you had that experience anon. It's a bit daunting, but I have to say I don't regret putting as much work as I have into my arming, and I'm still not done. I guess it's just easy for me not to be very intimidated by all the work because I like a long term project.
If you're still interested, I suggest finding some papercrafts of an army to proxy and a cool dude to play with outside the store until you finally decide. That's how I got started. Don't buy anything until you're sure you want it
>two Devs, two Assault squads
What's so hot about this, again? I get the assault from deep strike being nice but they're still vanilla Assault Marines. Putting down grav devs is pretty nice though.
I am you, and you are me. You are my phantom.
> I just don't like how decorated the armour is
I'll be honest, before I start painting Lias, I'm going to file away much of the bling and replace it with more tacticool gear, such as extra ammo-pouches and grenade packs.
All of my marines eschew more traditional 'bling' in favor of tacticool stuff. Everyone in my entire army has a camo cloak, an extra grenade pack, bolt pistol holster, and extra ammo pouches. I'm constantly raiding bitz bins everywhere to obtain more tacticool bitz to bling out my operators more.
Jesus, Anon. Get off /tg/ and paint more. Sometimes I want to smack you.
There is no need to start big. I wouldn't even recommend it because chances are you might dislike the hobby. I think sometimes the idea of Warhammer being super expensive comes from people who think that when you get into the hobby, you need to immediately buy 1500 points worth of minis and 200 paint pots and shit (not saying that you think like this).
But it is very easy to start with small purchases and very slowly to build your army that way. If you don't like it, you didn't make a big investment, no big deal. If you like it, you can start slowly expanding and buying more minis, new paints, army books etc.
Would this work for Blood Angels; take an allied Skyhammer formation, then a Baal Strike Force (minimum scouts), Dante, Priest /w Angel's Wing, Captain Karlean, and as many Death Company or Sanguinary Guard you can fit.
Skyhammer lays into them turn one and keeps shit tied down, turn two you have a gigantic chance of rolling deep strike and putting the deathstar on the board, turn three they kill whatever big priority target exists or start mopping up.
Or, the devs can be combat squadded to 5 redshirts and 4+1 devs, and the redshirts can pin down things for the assault marines to basically guaranteed charge without eating overwatch
I spent 3 hours the other day cutting/sniping grenades, pouches, more pouches, and knives from sprues for the eventual army.
Also my 10 Sternguard and Lias will be receiving these from Anvil Industry
I will try harder. Thank you for your support.
The easiest way to get into this game is to download the Kill-Teams rules online, then go purchase an HQ and 2 troop choice boxes.
You'll get everything you need to play kill-teams for only 100$, or possibly even less if you buy them pre-owned. And you don't need to buy anything more, but it's possible to slowly expand your kill-team options and build an army up over time in the process.
Those look great! I obtained the camo cloaks from my army by ordering them from Chinaman. It was the easiest method, in terms of both time and money. They were 50 cents a cloak, so it was 50$ for me to outfit an entire company of 100 marines. Now I just need to find the marines for it..
My next investment will be to get 100 MkVI helmets, and 100 Seeker Bolters from chinaman. Raptors are still a raven guard successor, so canonically they favor the beakies. I'm also a sucker for bolters with red-dot sights, and I feel it would further help my marines with being marksmen.
Star Phantoms, especially if you give flamers to all of the assault marines. Enjoy Twin-linked flamers and Grav-Cannons with rerollable reserves for the rest of your non-skyhammer army.
Luckily it looks like I may have found a LGS with cheaper prices. It isn't my job to buy from GW especially when they aren't even competitively priced. Even then I wouldn't buy from that store just because of how the guy acted. Hopefully I won't have to return.
Yeah I am only looking to play 500pts to start but I still can't pick an army
How much better would Chaos Marines be if Gift of Mutation let you pick the result (assuming you still couldn't pick the Spawn or Prince results)?
What if you could just pick one of the normal results in general instead of rolling?
Oh hey, those look amazing! I'll probably stick with the laser sights and drum magazines from that company. They look like they'd work well with seeker bolters.
Badab war books are outdated for raptors. Forgeworld has all the updated badab war rules for free to download on their website.
>rest of the detachment
I thought detachment meant only the bits of your army that were already Star Phantoms? As in, if you ally Phantoms to Guard, only the Phatom detachment gets the reroll
What I meant when I said that the rest of your "Non-skyhammer" army was the rest of your space marines that don't fall under the skyhammer formation. Say you want to run a Gladius with 10 drop pods alongside the skyhammer? Well 5 of those drop pods would get a nifty reroll on their reserves.
It's just going to mean that you're almost guaranteed to get your reinforcements coming in on turn 2, instead of missing a few. This can be absolutely brutal for your opponent if you put too much on his plate all at once.
Conversely, it also makes you more resistant to reserve shenanigans. Much moreso than space marines already are!
Traditionally it is Tigirus for Invis and a white scar for the Hunter's eye and ignores cover I think.
My FLGS is fine with it. We play with pretty much anything with the obvious social contract in play.
You've already got two assault squads and 7 guaranteed pods, with another 2.5 likely. I just think that using your CT for an extra 1.5 or so pods is overkill compared to master-crafted multimeltas or Doctrines or free Nartheciums etc.
My FLGS doesn't have any problems with forgeworld. There are multiple people here that use Relic Units from IA2, and plenty of other players using forgeworld supplements too.
There's only one person at my FLGS who hates forgeworld with the burning fury of a thousand stars, and that's the local "Eldar player that acts like an eldar in real life". He's threatened to destroy forgeworld books and models on mulitple occasions. He's the worst waacfag I've ever known in my life(To a point where he outright refuses to play against anyone who isn't "Good enough" for him).. And he's just an all around insufferable dick.
I've run my vanguard veterans with 5 power fists, and never looked back.
Mantis warriors are actually pretty good.
Do you think it would be worth while to ally in some as shock troops for my IG?
A big squad of barebones marines to charge anyone who gets too close.
Furious charge, hammer of wrath and move through cover...
Wait, isn't furious charge blood angels thing? doesn't that make them blood angels but better?
Can we start a petition to drop the C: whenever referencing space marines? There's no other "SM" army in the game so there's no need for the extra letter, and if someone is referring to a non codex space marine chapter they do so with that chapters initials, BA, DA or SW are obvious.
t. CSM player that gets confused at a glance
Can Krieg Company Command Squads take regimental standards? They don't seem to have the option in the book (Siege of Vraks).
>Literally Who: The Chapter does Blood Angels better than Blood Angels
That's the deal with the not vanilla SM codices. All of them as far as "chapter tactics" go are really poor
the Dark Angels slightly less so, but Stubborn and BS2 overwatch really pale compared to the actual chapter tactics
They should balance it with their original unit and configuration, the problem of the Blood Angels is that their options suck too
I'm seriously going to ally in a GravStar or a bunch of Dreadknights for non-SH/GC games, and Knight Titans for 'srs bsns' shit.
Don't forget on top of sucking most of them are locked behind the Elites choice and we have only three arguably decent formations, one of which is designed for them to be your drop pod taxis instead of a real army.
I wanted to play them as Daemonkin, but I can't justify the cost of a new codex, then taking out my Vindicator and Predator I have lined up for a £70 bloodthirster, so CSM it is.
But anon you can assault from deep strike on turn 2! =^)
.. if you take three Storm ravens and three Tactical marine squads with teleport homers. And then even with rerolls and the +1 result from Captain Karlean (if you take him for some ungodly reason) you could still fail to get that deathstar on the board.
Is it normal to have your main army and a bunch of small groups of other shit like a fail army? Like a squad if pathfinders just laying around and stuff.
What should I do with it? Should I try to sell or hide it?
The store I play at is a super local GW, and the manager is pretty picky about that kind of stuff, considering she still has a hardback Daemonkin codex on the shelf.
Recasts and PDF's are super sketchy and I don't want to lose the only place I can actually play at.
I would have started KDK if I didn't hate Space Marine bikes. They're so .. fisher price looking retard bikes.
I don't know how people can live with themselves converting up a huge, expensive Smashfucker HQ choice with Smashfucker Command Bike Squad and whatever else kids do these days. Jet packs are way cooler. So are mounts.
Fuck, why isn't there Marine based Juggernaut cavalry? ugly ass Bloodletters need not apply.
>but Stubborn and BS2 overwatch really pale compared to the actual chapter tactics
I mean some chapter tactics like salamanders and imperial fists are really really good but BS 2 overwatch seems like a huge deal, stubborn less so because marines already don't give a shit about losing combat because they can't be overrun.
No one will be able to tell if its a recast because Forgeworld would have to ship directly to you and once its cleaned, assembled and primed no one can fucking tell the difference. Especially not with Forge World's comically bad quality control issues.
So far Chinaman has given me better casts than fucking Forge World has.
I also play at a GW but when you download the eBook format and its on a digital device it is nearly impossible for anyone to say you didn't just buy it and download it.
That said I understand you not wanting to chance it either. FWIW it is very difficult to get asked to never come back to a GW anyway.
That's what happen when every new codex or unit comes out. A particular combination or rule will look like the ultimate troll option when actually on the tabletop, in most cases, you understand it's not that great.
I expect the same to happen with this new Wulfen. Sure, they can dish out a ton of high strength low AP attacks at initiative, but nonetheless they are 40-44 points per model for a T4 4+ unit
even if with W2 or FnPor 50 points to gain a 3++ invulnerable, so every shooty army will obliterate the unit and it's huge target saying "Shoot here" before they can assault Nonetheless I will buy at least two boxes of them
Because banners are cool. To have your general's colors, rising above the smoke and blood, never touching the ground, never retreating, it just makes me all warm and fuzzy inside.
I plan on buying at least one box and using Grey Hunters and Space Wolf conversion packs to make them not suck. If you replace the heads, backpacks and, hopefully, arms, they would be perfectly fine. The thunderhammer ones have some great poses actually.
I've walked into a GW for a tournament with an army that was fully 50% chinaman. I even had the store owner compliment me on my raptors models. TMW my bit box smells like air pollution.
Yeah, Wulfen in the middle or back, Thunderwolves on the flanks, maybe Grey Hunters in a rhino to screen their advance, or Blood/Skyclaws.
Its not going to place well in ultra competitive everything-goes environments but it will be a very strong assault army in more limited formats or 'fun' casual games.
It's ideally a good rule, but most army will be focused on Deathwing or Ravenwing, so only the most assault dedicated units would assault them, and usually those can deal with they hitting on a 5+ instead that on a 6+.
Also it's the shootiest edition ever, so all the most dangerous army couldn't care less that you overwatch when they do something they will never do
I just don't think it's worth all the effort to undercut the store. Don't get me wrong, if I could get away with it I would, but I've supported the store for well over 4 years now and I don't want to ruin things between me and the manager because of a recast. The risk isn't worth the reward in my opinion.
And yeah, I know some people will call me a cuck or whatever but the local store is important to me so I don't want to see it go.
Am I the only one that likes this guy's helmet? I hate the usual Wolfy McWolfington stuff, but I love this.
What kills me about Wulfen is how much I wish the Death Company gave army buffs like that. Potentially giving other non-DC Blood Angels the Fearless, Rage, etc. rules, or even on a good-bad roll they lose a squad member and they join the Death Company unit, like in their old pre-5e codex.
Is it a local GW or a local game store?
I'm of the controversial opinion that local GW stores shouldn't be fucked over by recasts or online third party retailers either if you like the place and it has a decent manage or community to play with. Same with FLGS.
The old Space Wolves models had helmets like that, too. I think they were better designed desu but this is pretty cool, like a Terminator helmet stylized into a wolf head.
It'd be very fitting on the Wulfen.
That would be a good option, but the Wulfen would remain behind, since both units will run to reach combat as early as possible but the TWC move the distance the Wulfen run only 1/6 of the times
I actually like those models (except for the stupid pose of the sergeant). They give me a much stronger "werewolf" feel then the old ones, that looked in my opinion more like monkeys wearing power armour
GW. We had a great manager for ages, but recently he got offered a position at a new store so the manager from GW Twickenham has taken over. I think she can keep the store running like it used to, and she's made some improvements over our last manager, and he literally turned the community around in the shithole I live in, so i can't complain.
Everyone has different taste, you don't have to explain or justify why you like something
But anon, in that case that wouldn't be a real curse
The current one is much better. Giving fearless, FnP and Rage is what curses are made of, for this reason no one wants them :^)
Is it a 'fun' casual game meta? If so, yes, just screen him and use him to jump out during multi-charges and challenge characters (he's a BEAST in challenges.) Otherwise, leave him at home.
Astorath is your best choice for Death Company. Dante is amazing in general, take him if Lords of War are allowed and you have the spare points. Also consider a Librarian for the Death Company.
Sanguinary Priests are very good, but put them in your Guard units or other assault units that are not Death Company because he does not benefit them.
Sanguinary Priest does almost nothing for Death Company. IF you are going to suggest a generic HQ for Death Company, you take Librarians. The Sanguinary Priest belongs with Sanguinary Guard, Vanguard Veterans, Assault Marines, etc, where that FNP will be more desired. The only time it'd be viable is if you're going to load up the Death Company with multiple characters like Astorath and Dante at the same time.
Nah they're wholly fucked up, only the body and weapons are not complete shit tier but they're not good either. Am I the only one who likes the old Space Wolf style and not this "let's cram fucking wolves everywhere" thing?
Man everyone says this but they're wrong. Screen him and he's a pain in the ass that buffs the whole army and massacres characters in challenges. The only time you leave him home is when rampant WAACfaggotry and tournaments are involved. Even then he's annoying to remove thanks to Eternal Warrior and 2+/4++. Saying you can see him when a Fast Rhino or two is blocking the way.
As someone who owned a lot of old Space Wolves models, they still had some serious wolf shit going on. Priests in particular with their wolf skull helmets, wolf helmets on Wolf Guard and other models, pelts and fang necklases everywhere, and terrible GW hair and faces were rampant.
The only thing that got extra stupid 'wolfy' is the naming conversions, Logan's hover sled and the Thunderwolf Cavalry, the latter of which is imo perfectly fine.
You would all jizz yourselves senseless if it was dinosaurs or giant cassowaries or something. But not, you're too afraid of the goddamn furry boogieman from almost a decade ago.
Is there any possible way to kill a 50 man blob guard unit with re-rollable 4+ invuln saves as Iron Hands?
An extra attack for nearby BA models and a challenge beatstick in an edition where challenge beatsticks aren't that great isn't worth 200 points in my opinion, especially when its being allied to something, so points are probably in tight supply. Priest is the good, budget HQ we have access to, and buffs Death Company fine with FNP. If he was using BA as his main detachment, its a different story
No, you put the Priests in huge Guardsmen blobs and laugh as they have +1 WS and FNP. Death Company get escorted by Dante or Astorath and mulch anything they touch, or have them kept in reserve to counter-charge or mop up anyone trying to deep strike into your back field.
>You would all jizz yourselves senseless if it was dinosaurs or giant cassowaries or something
not really, no, I don't care about dinosaurs and I don't even know what the hell cassowaries are. And I've been playing since the 2nd edition, and the wolf thing was never at this level. The difference between a Space Wolf and a regular muhreen were the talismans, iconography and the occational wolf helmet/wulfen, but the vast majority of the units were obviously 40k and were almost identical to vanilla muhreens. At this point the number of talismans has doubled or tripled, the wulfen look like they're from regular warhammer, weaponry/etc. suddenly looks way different from the average muhreen stuff and the list goes on. And the furry meme NEETs on 4chinz sperg about doesn't enter into it, people in my country wouldn't even recognize the term.
Death Company already have Feel No Pain. You do not put Priests on Death Company. It is a waste of points. Buy a Librarian instead if you're being cheap, Astorath if you have wiggle room, and Dante if you don't care about points and want a melee deathstar.
> Only reroll invuln saves in melee
> Dependent on a 1-wound model for said reroll
> Invuln save comes from a 4-wound model.
Get a Vindicare. The vindicare takes out their ministorum priest on turn 1 with a Shieldbreaker round, then you need to charge the squad in melee. Basic 4++ won't save them ever against a marine statline.
If the Marines have Flamers and hand Flamers they'll thin the herd enough, charge, do a decent amount of wounds, and then the Guardsmen are trying to hit a 4+ wound on 5+ and fighting against 3+ saves.
Not the anon you answered to, but I'm favorable to making them more different to the vanilla marines, both for a fluff reason (they are one of the most independent chapters, they should be the most different from the norm) and a visual one (we already have marines as roughly half of the armies played, making them most visually different can only help the hobby)
There's still the matter of dealing with the dark angels Chapter Master, but he's not a challenge monster in his own right. You need to get Smashfucker in melee with him before he wipes your charging squad, but he's bringing a deathstar, so he'll have multiple challenge-HQ's to compensate and challenge block.
The vindicare can take out a whopping 2 of the lesser characters, but you're still looking at a tarpit that can still take on your counter-tarpit for multiple turns.
>with Iron Hands
You dont fucking kill them, you make them useless. Only thing that hurts it is PF Commisar, and if he's actually close enough to attack the dread then gun that side of the blod before charging
They were already clearly different (different colour scheme, iconography, occational wolf talismans, those without helmets had fangs etc.) but the armour, weapons (unique ones like frostblade not withstanding) etc. should look the same as any other save for runic inscriptions/emblems.
Cant use them in Assault m8, if his bud is really a big enough fuck boy to run that shit in a game get more Dreads
Holy shit, that's right! I totally forgot about the Dreadnought option.
Then he's a dick who should know that the divination power in question that grants rerolls on saves ONLY APPLIES TO THE PSYKER HIMSELF. He still needs a Ministorum Priest to pull off the bullshit. That's even better that he's using a 2-wound psyker, and not the DA Character that gives the 4++. The ministorum priest also only lets them reroll it while in melee.
Dark Angels have a chapter master that grants a 4++ to his whole unit. Unlike the psyker, he's considerably more reliable, and can't be denied it.
>Don't get me wrong, if I could get away with it I would
Have you considered keeping the origin of your stuff a secret? Key to getting away with illegal stuff is not to fucking brag about it. Really, all you need to do is not to open your mouth.
Don't get me wrong, supporting a store you use is common sense, but you don't need to buy every rule book from them
How does this look for a semi casual list?
Pask Punisher [2x Multi-meltas, HoC: Kabe's Herald, Lascannon, Tank Commander]
Executioner [2x Plasma Cannons, Heavy Bolter]
Veterans [Grenadiers, Veteran w/ Heavy Flamer, 6x Veteran w/ Lasgun, 2x Veteran w/ Plasma Gun]
Chimera [Heavy Flamer, Multi-laser]
Veteran Sergeant [Close Combat Weapon, Laspistol]
Veterans [Grenadiers, Veteran w/ Heavy Flamer, 6x Veteran w/ Lasgun, 2x Veteran w/ Plasma Gun]
Chimera [Heavy Flamer, Multi-laser]
Veteran Sergeant [Close Combat Weapon,
Battle Tank [Heavy Bolter]
Battle Tank [Heavy Bolter]
Demolisher [Heavy Bolter, Recovery Gear]
Astorath, Redeemer of the Lost
Death Company Squad [9x Bolter, 9x Chainsword, 9x Death Company Marine]
Drop Pod [Storm Bolter]
Tactical Squad [Grav-gun, Rhino, 4x Tactical Marine]
Tactical Sergeant [Combi-Grav, Grav-pistol]
I've never playing anything but IG so I think that the BA gear is good, but I'm not 100% on that.
Don't really see the point of mixing a punisher and an executioner. And those melta sponsons are never getting used. Trim some points and give those russes lascannons on the front. They'll do you better than single heavy bolters.
as for the blood dangles, astorath is kind of in a bind since he's got no one to join. A plain jane chaplain might be better, since he can ride in the pod with the death company.
